We were visiting from south ms and ran across this place. Wow, very good. Fed a family of 5 for $30. Cool old building right off the square.

Fun restaurant stop in the historic square area! Lots of college kids and local workers dining here-a subtle recommendation of price and food quality! Typical taco bar type line where you order your item, add toppings and then pay. Lots of tables in this large interior, clean and serviceable. Casual attire-it is a college town! Unusual combinations for tacos, burrito bowls, and probably the best queso/chip appetizer I have ever had.

Very quality restaurant in the beautiful town of Oxford, MS. The taco choices are very good, though varied. I had the bbq taco which was overall pretty good. I have had better though.

Food was great. Prices are about what you would expect. Inside was clean and tidy. Service was good but not great. Overall a solid place for a causal meal.

This is a higher quality Chipotle or Qdoba. Their meat was so flavorful and tender alongside their rice, beans, and toppings. I definitely recommend getting queso and chips, as well! The queso is better here than most restaurants I've been to. I loved the atmosphere and everything with it. Definitely worth a stop in.

As a native Californian, I tend to get a craving for Mexican food a little more than the average Southerner. After living in Oxford for 3 weeks, I was desperate for some good ol' Mexican food. South Depot is pretty good, it's comparable to Chipotle, if Chipotle was even less authentic and even more overpriced. I paid $14 for a burrito bowl that wasn't even filled 3/4 of the way, and didn't even fill me up 1/2 the way, and some chips and guac. The chips were actually really good, and seasoned well, the guac was okay. I went there again last night and got the Korean beef tacos, which weren't really reminiscent of Korean flavors at all, but were good nonetheless. Overall, the food was pretty good, even if it is a little overpriced, I'll be back again.

South Depot is like the Subway of Tex-Mex. All those toppings lined up just waiting to be added to your dish. Everything was fresh and tasty!

Pretty good solution for lack of Chipotle in town plus free refills on chips. guac is good and reasonably priced. I'd come back.

Korean steak tacos are amazing. Trey Horne is the owner. He is always there and takes a lot of pride in his restaurant. Wish we had this place when I was in school at Ole Miss.

Their ingredients are generally better than any chain burrito restaurant, although the price isn't much different or perhaps slightly more. Although guacamole is a complete ripoff; you get about 1/4 tablespoon for 75 cents. Decent Tex-Mex. If you want authentic Mexican try somewhere else.

South Depot has the worst management I have ever seen. They do not respect their employees what so ever. The food is decent but nothing great. I will not support an establishment that treats their employees the way that they do. I would advise everyone to do that same.

SO yummy. My favorite is the marinated tofu with spinach in a quesadilla and their chips and queso. The margs are good too and they have a great patio when the weather is warm. Everyone who works there has been friendly and helpful and even shared their tofu marinade recipe with me!

Great place. With no Chipotle or Qdoba in town, South Depot really fills a niche for me. Their fish tacos (fried tilapia I think) kick ass, as does their Korean taco. The burrito bowls aren't always balanced flavor-wise and the lettuce they use has too rough a texture for the mix, but they're still good. Watch out for the chips and dip though, as nacho cheese and guacamole are kind of overpriced for a cup. The place can get super fratty some nights, but if you can deal with that it's a nice joint.

Good tacos for being in Mississippi. Ole Miss style tacos. In the great down town area of Oxford, MS.

Love is place! Great place for lunch and/or dinner! Their pork quesadillas are great! Chips are ok, they are thin... But the guacamole is soooo good!

Back to South Depot Taco Shop for round 2 and it is still delicious! And I will officially say that the chicken club taco is my favorite. Great for a meal or snack between shopping!

I've been wanting a place like this to open in Jackson. Great fresh ingredients and nothing but good tacos. I had the Korean steak taco and the fish taco. The fish taco could have been a little better, but I enjoyed the Korean steak a lot.

Who would have thought you could find a place like this in the deep South? Like its name, there is nothing too fancy here, but it's a fun little place near the town square in Oxford. It is quite popular with the college kids and is a good option for families. They have the standard Mexican fare, but their specialty is a unique and eclectic selection of tacos. I refrained from my standard choice--fish tacos--and tried something new: Korean steak tacos. Wow, it was a good decision. They somehow were able to successfully combine classic Korean BBQ taste in a Mexican taco--something that I doubt even the UN could accomplish. Give this place a try for a quick and fun bite to quench your yen for tacos. [Yes, I know in Korea they use the won, not the yen].

It's Cinco de Mayo, and I'm working in Oxford, MS. I need me some tacos. Walking across this place, I didn't realize it was a taco joint until I looked at the menu posted outside. On the inside, the place is not like any taco place that I've been to. It reminds me of being at the beach. I ordered 3 different tacos with a side of nachos and cheese. The steak taco was my favorite. The nachos had a sweet and spicy seasoning on them, and they were delicious. The crowd seems mostly made up of Ole Miss students. This place is fast and good if you want to satiate your taco craving.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
