This place is fantastic. Amazing. Awesome. Definitely try it and you will for sure come back. Personally I think it's the best food in Meridian, mexican or otherwise. Certainly better than el norte by a long shot. Queso dip is awesome, chimichangas, tacos el pastor, nachos al carbon, and Texas style fajitas are some of my favorites they have here. The quality of the food is wonderful the flavor is outstanding and the service is always good.

I give 'em four and a half. Somewhat hard to find with mr GPS. Come early if you don't want to wait for seating. Very pretty decor. Pretty hostess. Fresh hot chips.

Pros: Food was delicious! I had the chicken taquitos, hubby had the chimichangas with steak, both were some of the best we've had! Good chips and salsa! Tasty 'ritas (and well-priced). Cons: The patio has a slight smell due to the grease trap/dumpsters out back. Not enough bathrooms, only 1 toilet per the men's/women's.

My family has been coming here for 20+ years. Great family atmosphere and great food. I've had better mexican food, but that was in Mexico. Great place for birthdays or just any celebration in general.

Cinco de Mayo, Went here on the recommendation of the hotel staff. Great place, tortilla chips served hot with the shine of drying oil on them! Some of the best margaritas that I've ever tasted. Everyone gave thumbs up on the food. One note of caution, don't go crazy on the margaritas, because it's got to be the tightest parking lot in all of Meridian.

My family has been eating here for 10+ years. Great staff and great food! Best Mexican food in Meridian.

I'd consider Meridian my second home even though I live in the Washington, DC area. Everytime I come to visit friends, I have to eat at La Pinata. It's a ritual. It's about the best "order by number" Mexican restaurant I've been to! And the staff are friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice decor, mediocre Sysco-inflected "Mexican" fare, good prompt service. Too bad about the food.

La Piñata does not have fans, it has followers. Read below and you'll see that it has even attracted a following from out-of-towners. This is simply because of the food. You'll be served immediately with some of the best salsa around. Its cold tangy goodness will contrast with the salty-crunch of hot tortillas. Many people say that this may be the best part of the whole meal. Add some queso and you'll be in heaven. Note: La Piñata does not "cut" its queso blanco dip with water like most places. La Piñata offers all of the dishes you would expect but does it faster and better than the rest. The key to their success is that they have mastered: 1) queso and 2) tortilla. This is a deadly combination that you enjoy from the start with your chips and until the end with your entree. I would suggest ordering some form of the quesadilla options. Misguided skeptics say that all mexican restaurants are the same--they have not eaten here yet.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
