Lee’s Donuts

1515 65th Ave
Meridian, 39307
Reviews:
Extremely fluffy and delicious. Best donut I've ever had. Drive through only. Heaven awaits.
I'll be damned if these donuts weren't as another internet reviewer described as perfectly flaky without being undercooked and perfectly sweet without being diabetic coma inducing. As a girl born and raised in Alabama who swears by Krispy Kreme, I must admit... these are better. Even better than the donuts are the Cream Cheese Croissants. Those fresh baked pastries with a perfectly sweetened cream cheese filling would put any French bakery to shame. The location looks shady and you can only drive thru, but I promise going to the sketchier side of town is worth the trip for these sweet treats. We found about this place on an otherwise dismal trip to Meridian. If you find yourself wondering how you ended up in Meridian, go to Lee's and know that it was fate that brought you to the Mecca of flaky, delicate, sweet surrender.

I stayed at this Bed & Breakfast not too long ago and I enjoyed my stay! It has a nice warming atmosphere. The bedrooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, everything about the room was great. The owners are very welcoming and kind, we had a nice conversation with them in the morning during breakfast. The food is spectacular! The quiche is delicious, and their grits are very flavorful! I recommend this place if your coming through here and need a place to stay the night. I will surely be coming back. Overall, my experience here was great. Also, the rates are very affordable.

Wing Shack

2516 8th St
Meridian, 39301
Reviews:
We visited here from a GPS search - we were on vacation on our way to Baton Rouge, and Meridan was a good stopping point for lunch. We love wings and like to try new places when we travel. We certainly weren't disappointed at Wing Stop. Upon driving up, it seemed like one of those local dives, a hole-in-the-wall type of place that looks "iffy" but has great food behind the downcast facade. In the window was a lettered sign proclaiming "Voted best wings 2013" (not sure who the voters were). Inside, several patrons appeared to be locals, waving friendly goodbyes to the owner as they left. Wing Stop has at least 10 different flavors of wings and we got the lemon pepper 12-wing combo to go, with a side of the best collard greens we've ever tasted. They were chopped small, somehow creamy in their pot likker, and nicely seasoned. Now the wings: deliciously lemon-y, moist but not greasy, with a puddle of ranch dressing for dipping. They accommodated our request for hot sauce, and gave it to us in a bowl with saran wrap over the top. Great lunch stop!

Best place in Meridian. I drive from Laurel to eat here! The selections are great, everything from Oxtail to meatloaf. All of the food is fresh and made from scratch. Tons of veggie and side options as well. The dessert choices are numerous. You will not leave full! The place is a little hard to find if you aren't familiar with the area, but all of the locals know where it is!

The Daily Grind

Reviews:
I really liked this place. They were friendly, the coffee was good and the cranberry nut muffin was good. I will definitely come again
In Meridian, apparently there are no Starbucks, Peet's, Coffee Bean, nothing. Not even an indie coffeehouse filled with hipster scumbags! I found this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. The coffee is good , cheesecake is awesome! Danielle is a super friendly server with pretty eyes and a smile that will make you melt, and she always makes you feel right at home. This is more of a sit-down place than a coffee shop, and I haven't had the occasion to actually eat a meal here, but I'm going to try before I leave Meridian. I highly recommend this place. :)
Service is fantastic! Food is fantastic! I had to come to the daily grind because my internet was down at the house and require for my job. I ate breakfast and lunch here and they were so nice to refill my coffee/tea as I worked. For the cinnamin rol lovers my wife is one and had theirs. It was fantastic! They were extremely friendly and gracious to let me work here. Will definitely return here.

Domino’s Pizza

Reviews:
It was Mother's Day and I work in the industry. I was incredibly exhausted but needed to go to Walgreens to pick up a few things; it was about 2330. After working very hard for very little money (people in this town don't tip) in a restaurant that was very busy, I just wanted to shower, eat and veg out in front of the TV for a bit. On the way to Walgreens, I passed a Domino's Pizza. I asked MWH to call while I was in the store to see if they were still open and if so, gave him an order to place to be picked up on the way home. This was the first Domino's experience in Meridian and it was EXCELLENT! When I saw MWH again, he told me the order was placed. I went in to this with no expectations due to the fact that it was a chain AND that it was late at night, 30 minutes to closing. Not because I was tired and NOT because I was hungry, but I have to say that this is one of the better pizzas I've had from Domino's. The thin crust was cooked to cracker perfection. I asked for extra sauce and it was the perfect amount without having the toppings swimming on a cracker. I ordered extra cheese and felt that I got exactly what I paid for; there was enough cheese to justify paying more without being too little or too much. I was very delighted with this Domino's experience. Great job team and I hope you fared well this Mother's Day Sunday, your drivers were tipped well (much better than fast casual sit down diners), and people were much more understanding of being very busy making sure Mothers were treated well.
At first things were complicated about the delivery and payment. But they definiately took care of me and appreciate it. Alysia
Great pizza. Delivery guy was disappointed in my $7 tip. Next time I will give just a dollar. That tip was 25% of the entire cost of the meal.

Pappy’s Hickory Smoked Bar-B-Q

6416 Hwy 39 N
Meridian, 39305
Reviews:
This little place is in a Shell Gas Station on North Highway 39 near Marion, Mississippi. I stopped in on a Sunday to pick up a soda and noticed the place had some outdoor tables with colorful umbrellas. (Some indoor booths and tables were also available.) I looked over their selection in the showcase and they had all of the usuall "fast-food barbecue" choices, offering individual meat and sandwich selections as well as plate lunches. Then I asked the lady behind the counter my usual opening question; "I'm from Dallas so I'm used to GOOD Bar-b-q. What should I not leave here without trying?" She said she was from New Orleans, and "Everything here is good, but if you want something different, try the Chicken on a Stick." I asked if the Chicken was barbecued, or grilled and she smiled, pointing to a long lump of something that had been deep fried on a long spear. Chicken On A Stick is a Chicken Shish K-Bob that they battered and deep fried. (I'll include a photo.) I pulled off a layer of potatoe, then dill pickle, then onion, then jalapeno, then a giant strip of chicken breast. All of the layers repeated again followed by and another potatoe skeward to the end. I have to admit that I had never tried one anywhere else before. The potato at the center was not cooked as tender as the others were on the k-bob, but the rest was rest was really good. The Chicken breast strips were huge, moist, and tender. While I was there, they had a constant stream of local customers picking up orders to go.
This is the first time I ever got food at a gas station...it's last place I would eat but in Mississippi that's how they role. Let me tell you..the brisket po'boy was out of this world..it was the best I have ever eaten. The fried shrimp po'boys was was wonderful. It's like the line from the movie The Blind Side, the recruiter from O'l Miss tells the kid..".in Mississippi you can get great BBQ at any gas station!" A truer line has never been spoken.
This place has the best barbecue! We get dinner from here a couple times a month! It's delicious!
