Food, fun and fellowship, this is a great place to meet for breakfast or lunch! Don't believe me, I suggest you visit and see for yourself! :-)

It's got pluses and minuses but mostly it's delightful! This is a great coffee shop in a big old house in between downtown and Jackson State University. I have always found it a convenient spot to stop and refuel before during and after taking a standardized test at JSU. First things first, the coffee. I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I've been to enough too-trendy places from New York to the Bay Area to know that this coffee is not on trend. Granted, nobody is really on trend with their coffee in Jackson. Measured against the Jackson standard, Cups, the coffee is not that good. Having said that, it is a perfectly acceptable cup of coffee. What is always a delight is their food. They started out with some pretty easy standard fare, salads and sandwiches, but have improved the menu every time I go! They clearly put a lot of thought into their menu, keeping the basics but stepping up with tasty dishes for breakfast and lunch. The veggie omelette I just had for breakfast was one of the better omelettes I have had at a restaurant (they are hard to get right). The space itself is big! There is a main area with a bunch of tables and two separate rooms off of that. There is a meeting room style room that you can close off for a small (maybe 8-10 people) meeting. The space is very flexible and it plays host to at least two weekly community meetings that I know of (Friday and Saturday mornings, for those of you who want to get involved). The location is reasonably good. Like I said, convenient to downtown or JSU, but you still really have to be driving by. That is one big downside is that it doesn't host a lot of foot traffic because of the location and lack of other foot traffic businesses. Check it out if you're in the area and need a coffee and a bite to eat!

This a a wonderful neighborhood establishment. It isn't just a restaurant but a place where the community can come together and discuss the issues of the moment. However, there food is quite delicious. The shrimp corn chowder was rich and hearty with a great shrimp stock. The grilled chicken panini was really good. The espresso in my latte wasn't as strong as I prefer, but it was good. A great place for a lunch or breakfast stop. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

This spot is a cool breakfast joint. I got the veggie omelet which was good and when I threw some hot sauce on top it brought out all the flavors. The wife got the pancake plate which came with a nice flavored smoke sausage, scrambled eggs, and a nice stack of pancakes. The pancakes were light and fluffy. Overall the meal was pretty good and I would try this spot out again next time I'm in town.

This place gave me the feeling of being in the south. Cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff made it feel like home. It felt like I was enjoying my tea and pancakes in somebodys house. I was told they serve the full menu all day. I had a order of pancakes, that came with bacon and egg. It was all simple but flavorful. Everything was done just right. We sat in the side room and enjoyed our meal, while getting some work done on our laptops. There was a bunch of locals hanging around enjoying themselves. This place seems to have a lot of community involvement, and looks to host several different types of community forums. If (when) I make it back to Jackson again, I will be sure to come back to the Koinonia Coffee House. Only next time I am going to get some soup and a sandwich!

Great coffee house in Jackson. If you are looking for a new place to have a cup if joe, than try out this cool place downtown. It's a huge house that was converted to a coffee shop. It has many large rooms and it would be a great place for bible study, book clubs, or whatever small meetings you attend. The people are really nice and the drinks are great.

I went to Koinonia once for breakfast. My veggie breakfast burrito had too much cheese on it. The coffee was fine, but this place is not as good as Sneaky Beans or Cups in Fondren. I have always wanted to attend a Friday Forum at Koinonia, but I work on Friday mornings, so I have not yet had the opportunity.

On our way to Texas we decided to stop for the night in Jackson Mississippi. We found this coffee house after we decided to skip our initial breakfast choice. I'm so glad we did as this building had so much character, great customer service, and of course their coffee and food was awesome.

Outstanding locally owned and operated coffee shop like all coffee shops should be today--excellent food, drinks and ambiance. Check out the Friday Forums they host on Friday mornings at 9am.

You have to try this place if you are in Jackson. Locally owned and deeply involved in the local community. And Lee Harper the owner brings the care for the community into the food she serves. Made to order omelettes and other fresh dishes. Great lunch specials and coffee drinks. Worth the trip to west Jackson for the food and the fellowship.
