I had great luck finding some awesome spots in Jackson on my last trip....Fondren Public was no different. Sure, the server seemed like she could care less about me...but she wasn't outright rude - just not as attentive as I found everyone else in Jackson to be. Not a huge deal - I'm from Miami originally....ANY customer service is GOOD customer service for me. FP has a GREAT beer list! I was on a mission to try some local brews (drank a lot of Lucky town on this trip) but this time went with the Imperial Red Ale from Prohibition Brewery - it was super solid! I had a pickled plate which came with carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers. It was a great little snack and I imagine getting a few of these for a table - sipping some beers - chatting with friends. And the highlight was the fried cheese - pepper jack cheese, battered and fried with candied bacon and a sweet Tabasco glaze! WOW! A nice kick...a nice sweet/salty flavor...and they were great. Nice size to share for an app! Everything was reasonably priced - and because I was there midweek it wasn't that busy. I hear on the weekends this place gets SLAMMED. I'll be back on another trip to Jackson - and look forward to checking out more of the menu options (yes, you know that means mainly more of the beer options!)

Fondren Public has quickly become my favorite bar for hanging out in Jackson. Most of its appeal lies in the space itself-- it's a huge, open plan with tons of seating, big, tall booths, a huge bar and a gorgeous, covered patio area that's heated in the colder months. (Well, this is Jackson, MS, so I should clarify that we only actually have a few weeks of cold per year.) Inside, patrons can play table shuffleboard. Outdoors, cornhole or bocci ball await. The atmosphere is casual and chill but still young and lively. While the crowd can get a bit "bro"-heavy (you know what I mean), it's usually a super interesting and diverse crowd. The bartenders and servers are cool and friendly, and I've never had a negative experience as far as service. There's also televisions throughout the bar, which makes it a great spot for catching the game. I watched a couple World Cup games here as well as some Mississippi football games and it's always a good time. The crowd is super fun, but never rowdy or overbearing. The rare occasion I've seen some sort of conflict arise (which is simply bound to happen every now and then in a bar), FP's security has handled it swiftly, safely and subtly. The drink selections are excellent. With TONS of beers on tap, including plenty of local variety, as well as a great selection of well made cocktails, there's something for everyone to sip on. I haven't tried all of the food selections, but everything I've tried has been delicious. I highly suggest getting a plate of the sliders. The pulled pork is particularly yummy. Just a short walk from everything in Downtown Fondren, Fondren Public is a go-to spot for my friends and I whether we're looking for a casual afternoon drink or a big night out. It's great to see this bar do well for itself because I think they're a fantastic addition to the Jackson scene.

Great food and very popular with young crowd!! I wish we had this in Texarkana! Sliders are incredible! Unbelievably busy for a Thursday night! Bartenders are very friendly!

The manager walked out this week and now fp is under new management. Used to love it, not a fan of how they're doing things now and the new manager. A girl lost her phone inside at closing time and tracked it to ensure it was inside the bar, manager would not let her/her bf go in and get it. Manager was incredibly rude to the girl and her bf. Watching that completely turned me off of the bar and the people working there.

When did Fondren public stop having servers outside... So far I have only seen a bitchy busboy in 3 hours...

Yep. They got it right. Good beers, lots of local varieties, growlers (and growlers too if you know what I mean. Rawr! j/k) and tasty bar treats. How can you really go wrong with sliders and jalapeno-dipped corn dogs? This place has a good vibe with exposed brick, shuffleboard and a killer patio with tons of tables, overhead lightbulbs and um, BOCCE!!! I don't see this not being a hit. Ok kids, time to support Fondren. It's in your hood, it's in Jackson, and J-town is on the up and up. Uh uh UH!

Honestly my favorite pub to hang out in, hands down. This is the best place to meet a group or have a sweet date night. The staff are so cool, maybe too cool, and they really know their drinks. I've never had a bad drink here. You can play games outside or watch the games on the tv inside. Either way, it's like a big get together and you gotta check it out. Love this place!!

I'm a craft beer fan, and I really found Fondren Public to be pretty much my pace. With an outdoor patio and game area, Fondren Public is a hang out for many locals. It's always pretty busy. The staff was friendly, and very attentive, even during a packed house. The food is not world-class quality but it's unique and you get what you pay for; I was happy. Recommended: Craft Beers (take your pick - be adventurous!), Chicken and Waffle Tacos, and the sliders.

Fondren Public is a great place to hangout on the weekends. They have a great variety of craft beer, the mixed drinks are always created to perfection, and the staff is very friendly. On a Friday or Saturday night they are super busy but you are still guaranteed good service. They have an outside area with cornhole and seating, and inside is shuffleboard and more seating. Very great environment.

Amazing draft wall with so many choices. The staff is great and very nice. I love spending my weekend nights here because the prices are moderate and I can play corn hole or bocce ball. They make sure to incorporate local breweries and have local events there. The only downside is that it gets crazy crowded on Fridays almost to the point where I don't want to spend my time there because I can't hear a thing.

My phone had no data so I was searching for this place high & low. I walked around the immediate blocks several times without avail, I asked a guy for this place & what he told me was convoluted. Finally I walked down Old Canton Rd. & found this place in a corner. They have lots of local MS & LA beers on tap such as Crooked Letter, Lucky Town, Yalobusha, etc. I was the only one there in an afternoon but a lot more people came in later. The guy with British or Southern accent (can't tell) was cool. They will fill your growler off their taps too, where MS is more advanced than CA here. They have power outlet off each table, a nice touch there.

Many local beer options. The food is different i.e. "gastropub". High priced beer on tap $6-10. Simple summary - go there for the beer if that's your thing.

Wow! I think this is my new favorite bar in the Jackson area. The pub has a great selection of beers on tap and in the bottle and supernice bartenders to serve them to you. If you want to try a little taste of one of the draft beers before you make your choice, the bartenders are very accommodating in letting you try a little sample. The pub grub that I have tried has also been excellent. The boiled peanuts are seasoned nicely. A little salt, cumin, cayenne, and something sweet. It seems to sprinkled on the outside of the shell, but you get the flavor anyway. My only criticism would be that the peanuts are slightly undercooked for me. The FPFC (Fondren Public Fried Cheese) is an appetizer to die for (and it may very well give you heart failure). Tater tot size pieces of pepper jack cheese fried in a light batter, mixed with generous pieces of thick, candied bacon, and smothered in a sticky, sweet and spicy tabasco glaze. Fantastic! The bar itself is quite large with multiple rooms and a nice covered patio area complete with a bocce ball court. Very cool bar! Highly recommended!

Great place, but a little too crowded. When the crowd gets large, service goes down, but otherwise it is wonderful. Wide variety of beers on tap and in bottles. Definitely the best bar in Fondren.

I like this bar, it's a cool place to go for a drink in Jackson. It's a good sized space, shuffleboard is fun, and their outdoor area in the back is large and nice. But the owners (and other patrons) need to know of an incident that took place here. About a month ago when I was walking up, the bouncers out front got way too aggressive with a drunk college kid. The kid was stumbling around in front of the bar wanting to come inside and kind of mouthed off to one of the bouncers who was about twice his size. The bouncer was the first to get physical, pushing the kid down onto the concrete where he rolled face first into the storm drain in front of the bar, cutting holes in his dress clothing and breaking the skin. The kid stood up, blood dripping from his head and chest, and tried to stumble back toward the door. The bouncer unnecessarily, as if it were sport, pushed the kid again into the concrete and drain, injuring him further. There was blood all over the ground in front of the bar and the kid could have easily been more seriously hurt. While the kid definitely didn't need to be in the bar and should have stayed away from the door, the bouncers handled it in an incredibly unprofessional way. This is a chill bar. They need to take it down a few notches before they get the bar owners sued. The girl I was with didn't feel comfortable going in after seeing that, so they lost us as customers that night, and probably turned off others as well. Oh and it's a little strange that one of the bartenders fakes a British accent and heritage. Consistent, for sure, but come on dude. That's just creepy and rather disrespectful to deceive your customers.

Been here a couple times now. Definitely a great beer bar for Jackson - it was in dire need of one. Good selection of brews and the drinks are decently priced. They do have a full bar but I haven't tried too many mixed drinks yet. Huge place, nice atmosphere, great patio and lots of bar games. There's tons of seating so even though the bar can get crowded, from what I've seen there's usually a chance you can still find a place to sit. Service has also been attentive and friendly. My only qualm with the place is that the bar food is extremely mediocre for the price. I've tried a number of things on the list, from the chicken and waffle taco, the BLT, truffle dip, fried cheese, homemade potato chips with pork and the fried chicken skewers. The only things that haven't been disappointing are the fried cheese and chicken skewers. The sliders look decent but I haven't tried those yet. Everything else seems like it would be good but the quality is poor and it's very noticeable that they skimp on ingredients as much as possible, yet the dishes are priced like you would expect gourmet bar food. I know it's a new place so hopefully the quality of the food will eventually reflect the price point. Anyhow, I will definitely be a returning customer. It's nice to see something like this open in the city.

Great beer selection. Leave before 1 AM to avoid closing time procedure. Staff do last call and then begin closing down sections of the bar one at a time, effectively herding people out without giving them 15 minutes to consume the last beer they purchased. A friend was called a "dumb bitch" by a bouncer when she left her credit card inside. Despite the fact that it was 2 AM, a drunk twenty something waiting on her taxi doesn't deserve this aggressive indulgence of authority.

Such a fan! My husband and I snuck out for a quick date night and came here. There were post run group gatherings going on. It's casual and fun, with the best beer selection I've seen in town. Many are from the tap! Just as we were about to leave, we stumbled upon their bocci ball court. You can't go wrong with that. Can't wait to go back!

Was driving from NC to New Orleans back in early May and this place came up when I Googled to find a place to get a drink in Jackson. We were glad it did. My buddy and I had a couple of pints at the bar, and the selection was absolutely top-notch. If I hadn't gone in search of the restroom, I wouldn't have even noticed the extra seating, patio, or games - we were just there to sit at the bar - but, it looked like a great place to hang out if you're a local or have more time. Note to the owners - we poked our heads in at 11am on a Saturday because our car was still on eastern time and we thought it was really noon. Turns out the bar opened at 11, and not at noon, as the website said. We pointed this out to the guys who were working, but as of today, your website still shows your Saturday hours starting at noon.

Great atmosphere. It's a very cool looking bar with a few food items on the menu. They have a large variety of beer as it is primarily a bar. Dim lights which is nice and a few different sections including a game room. Food is great.

Great spot for Jackson! It is nice to have a laid-back, classy spot to hang out. There are only a few places with such a good beer selection. The shuffleboard and cornhole games are a plus!
