Good ole bar food! My favorites are their chicken tenders and onion rings. And you can't beat their comeback dressing - put it on everything!

REALLY UNUSUAL, this time my burger just wasn't up to par, seemed like it had sat out too long. Surprised, Shawn and Hayes asked what I wanted to do, and they brought back one of the best burgers in Jackson..., AS USUAL! Really good burgers and sandwiches. Eclectic menu but the real deal are the lunches. My favorite is Thursday Pot Roast and Friday CF Steak. I always add a salad just so I can have some Kumback Dressing and crackers. Great bar-restaurant and sometimes a really good spot to hear some good live music too. Thursdays enjoy the D'low Trio! Oh yeah, and Wednesday lunch is choice of smoked, BBQ or great fried chicken! Cobbler is GREAT!

Anyone remember the old Cherokee Inn when it was located on State Street? That dark green dump of a building... nickel beer night... great burgers ordered from the bar... and no wild roaming kids screaming around the arcade machines? Don't misinterpret,,, I love kids... and I don't mind them running wild and screaming while I eat... I'm just saying so if you go to the Cherokee Inn today you should expect it as part of your dining experience. The State Street location is long gone as is my name that was etched into the second wood top booth table on the side wall. The 'new' location is still a hole-in-the-wall kind of place. The type place where you'll want to completely ignore the '5 Second Rule' if you drop some food on the floor. Instead of the dash to grab it back, you'll just leave it there. (It will probably be stuck to the tile anyway.) Order the burger. Order the bacon cheese burger if you've had a few too many beers. Try the salad with comeback dressing. All good.

Closed and out of business. The building is for sale.

It's kinda like eating really good food at your deer camp. Food is great, beer's cold, furniture is old and worn out, and don't look too closely at the kitchen.

5 Stars because it is the real-deal. Bar food extraordinaire.......Burgers, Dogs, Pizza, Po Boys and Plate Lunches. 7 days a week, the Cherokee Inn brings great food in a fun dive-like atmosphere. What makes the Cherokee great is that it is the Cherokee. Family friendly places like this where kids can play video games while mom and dad have a beer and a glass of wine while sharing a Cheeseburger Po Boy are hard to find. Jackson's own Cherokee Inn is just such a place. The Cherokee Inn has great food that is a step-above your typical bar fare. Check out the pictures in the gallery. Good stuff. Even though I love pizza and po-boys, I just cannot get past the siren lure of the Cherokee Burger and fries. The best part of the Cherokee burger is that it is always good, fast and cheap. Want a BIG burger? Order up a double. What something cool? Get a Barnyard burger...that is a cheeseburger with a fried egg topper. What the BEST burger? Get a double barnyard with bacon and tell them to leave the egg a bit runny. Ooofffff......I am spent just thinking about it. Cold beer. Pizza. Burgers. Fries. Fun atmosphere. All of these make the Cherokee Inn what it is. A Jackson Institution that delivers.

An old, dingy, dive... which is exactly what I expected, heard about, and wanted when I walked in here. It's a bit of an open-bar area type of place, with pretty good bar food and burgers. A great place to meet friends, maybe play some pool, etc. It can get a bit loud in here, so it's definitely not the quietest place you'll ever eat. It's a neat, charming place, that I'll definitely come back to. Con: The one real detraction was trying to pay my bill. It's a bit strange how they do this... when you're through with your meal, you go into the next room at the bar, and stand at the end, near the cash register and try to catch the attention of one of the bartenders (who's likely pretty busy serving people around the bar). Once you snag one of them, you tell them your table number (it's actually noted on the table), then they look up your ticket, and "ring you up". I'm not sure what's really stopping someone from either walking out, or giving the wrong table number. But we waited at the end of the bar, desperately trying to get the attention of someone for several minutes... kind of crazy when you think about it... you're actually trying to PAY them for what you just ate, and give them an opportunity to seat another party at your table. How hard would it be to come up with another system for this? You know, like nearly EVERY single other bar or restaurant in the country?

Awesome. The perfect hole in the wall dive. From the old school tin and neon sign that beckons from the curb. Everything about this place screams, "c'mon in and set a spell." The food was great and homemade. The bacon cheeseburger was a hand formed patty. The country fried steak lunch special with rice, blackeyed peas rice and cornbread for eight bucks was killer. The sweet tea should come with its own shot of insulin it's so good. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. All in all... for my first experience with Jackson's local fare... I'm batting a thousand.

I would never have found this place if a local friend had not taken me here. I'm glad he did. This is the place the "locals" eat and that's what I love. It's a little dirty. it's a little worn down, it's just the place to feel relaxed and blend in. Good beer selection, great food. Come back for the Kumback!

Years ago (80's) I had several great meals at the old location. This was my first visit to the new (8 years already?) locale. The place is dumpy, proudly. The pizzas were pretty good. Fried pickles were great. My BBQ had too much sauce - drowned meat was not a treat. I should have had a burger...thinking/hoping it would have made for a better dining experience.

Great beers on tap. Food was good, about what you would expect (burgers, fries, etc.). Only down side was the service, which was below average. Not terrible, just not up to par.

Nolan really said it all. This place is the Cherokee. Even though it moved, it is almost like walking into the old location, from the tables to the dust on the walls (in a good, dive kind of way). If you want fried food, greasy food, pleasing food, this is the place. It certainly isn't the best, but it is exactly what it needs to be. The bar is about as close to a down home kinda bar in the area. Some other bars are similar, but they don't really replicate what this one does, not to mention they are way too expensive ($6 dollars for a blue moon at Fenians?!)

ok place to have a few beers with bar food and check out a band. if you bring a female with you, make sure she uses the bathroom before you go. actually, men could take that advice as well. i feel nasty after only using it to go #1. thats how filthy the bathrooms are. the food ive gotten from there has been pretty good, but after seeing the bathrooms, im afraid of what the kitchen may look like.

This place is a dump (that's sort of the appeal) but the food is pretty good. For the longest time their Red Beans and Rice was the bomb (only on Saturdays) but now it's Russian Roulette. Standard fare includes burgers, pizzas, onion rings, fries. They do offer a lunch special that is different each day and it's usually pretty good. Thursday lunch is probably the busiest time as they serve roast beef.
