My husband and I recently moved to the area and decided to try the Japanese food and we loved it here! We'll definitely be back!

We arrived at 9:22 on Saturday night, with the sign showing open til 9:30 pm and were promptly REFUSED service. With so many choices in this area of Gulfport, I won't be returning and suggest others look elsewhere as well.

I came here twice since I wrote my original review, because it's within walking distance of my work and dang it, sometimes I want sushi. Simple sushi. Salmon, rice, and seaweed. Very easy. Trip 1. I call and order. They tell me ten minutes. I walk down there, slowly. There is only one table in the restaurant that's seated, and otherwise empty. Why oh why, then, did it take ***35*** minutes to make a simple order of one salmon roll and one cucumber roll?! Trip 2. I call and order. They don't introduce the restaurant when they answer, leading me to believe I got the wrong number. I call again and they do it again. So, I assume it's them. I order TWO salmon rolls, ONE cucumber roll, ONE miso soup. We battled back and forth between the type and quantity of items. Two salmon cucumber rolls? NO. Two salmon rolls, ONE cucumber roll, ONE miso soup. TWO miso soups? NO! One miso soup. "Ok, be ready in 10 minutes." This time I stop at Barnes & Noble and buy a book first since I know "ten minutes" is apparently relative and I must have forgotten to bring my time turner to work today. When I get my order I look at the receipt and see they charged me for two salmon and TWO cucumber rolls even though I did in fact only order one. I sigh and pay for it. Leftovers, right? So I go back to work and open up my box - what do I have? Two salmon-cucumber rolls. WTF???? These people have NO customer service skills and ABSOLUTELY NO ability to listen and give their customers what they want! I was charged for four sushi rolls and only received two. I was so enraged I rage-ate instead of throwing the sushi against their door like I should have. If you want cheap sushi with the worst service in a hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant this side of the Pacific (and trust me, I've been to MANY) -- then come on down to Saku Japanese Take Yo' Sweet Ass Time! I am never going here again unless this is the last place to receive sustenance in Mississippi in case of apocalypse. Rest assured I have been spreading my experiences to others. Their "yucky-messy" is still a messy, sodium-laden pile, btw.

I really like this place. The food is wonderful! The hibachi dinners are my family's favorite and the ginger sauce is out of this world. You have to ask for it though. Last time I was there they had run out of ginger sauce :(

I give it 5 stars based on quality of food relative to price. The hibachi steak and rice was awesome and a huge portion for $10. Comparable meals would be over $20 at most Japanese restaurants. Just be prepared for plastic silverware and styrofoam take out boxes.
