Great spot to grab some food, the chips are very good and the salsa has a great smoky flavor. Our food was good made with fresh vegetables and other ingredients. Overall great local spot a must try.

Small portions. I ordered the taco salad for about 9 dollars it was very small. My wife's chimichanga was also small. Juan tequilas is way better. Don't think we will be visiting there again. Staff was nice.

We stopped in here yesterday evening and we were the only table. Kinda made me a lil iffy about ordering but I was hungry so we stayed. Obviously we got seated right away. Chips and salsa were brought out. The chips were crisp, not greasy and lightly seasoned with some kind of orange colored powdery seasoning. Not bad. Different. The salsa was pretty decent. A little on the salty side but a good flavor with a strong cilantro taste. I love cilantro! I ordered the Mexican tacos. Because you don't go to a Mexican restaurant and order tacos with lettuce and cheese. Seriously, who does that? Not good. Not Mexican. Anyway, we also got the chicken chimichanga. The tacos were okay. Not a lot of flavor so I added the salsa and some salt and squeezed the lemons over them. Which made them a lot better. The plate comes with rice and beans. I can't tell you if they are good or not because I didn't touch them. The beans appeared to be canned and the rice was way overcooked. No thanks. On to the chicken chimichanga...which was a huge flour tortilla with chicken and a red sauce inside. And a white cheesy sauce on top. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. For dessert fried ice cream. Except the ice cream wasn't fried. Just the flour shell bowl it sat in was. The actual ice cream was covered in...cornflakes. Interesting. I'm all about texture. With fried flour thingy, soft ice cream, cornflakes, whipped cream and chocolate sauce this thing had WAY too many textures goin on. I ate it because my boyfriend gets mad when I order something and don't eat it. Which is really common for me here in Gulfport. So I ate it. 12 hours later...and my stomach is still angry at me. So the food was okay I guess. I think I'll stick with waiting til I go to new orleans so I can hit up Taqueria Sanchez when I'm craving tacos though. The service here at Oscar's is good. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I do care about good service but I care more about the food. I'd give 5 stars for the service but I just can't bring myself to rate this place on that alone. It'd be dishonest and a disservice to the yelp community. If you want great service come here. If you want great food, go somewhere else.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
