When your waiter never checked back with your table, then doubles the charge on one item and is having no clue what to do, then suggest he find a job he can do. Las Compas consistently falls short, even on portioning.

We've made a couple of more trips to Los Compas since my last review (since it's now the only credible Mexican restaurant near us in Raytown) and I'm trying to order something different every time I visit to see how it holds my interest. So far, so good! The food is fresh tasting and the sauces varied to compliment what it's served with. Last time I couldn't find a combo with exactly the things I wanted so I ordered a la carte and had a crispy chicken taco, a tamale, a chili relleno and rice and beans and it was still around $12.50 for a whole lot of food. The food and service are consistently good and the more I visit, the more I am A FAN! It's the place to go for Mexican food in Raytown.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Los Compas! I'm a mexican food fan, and this is the place to go! Everytime I go there the service is good, they are quick to refill my drink and always have fresh chips and salsa on the table. The salsa is delicious, and the food is great. My favorite is the Enchiladas Supremas which is a huge plate full of different meat and cheese filled enchiladas. Hubby's favorite is the steak nachos, with white queso cheese and sliced steak. The best day to go up there is Monday, when the margaritas are only 99 cents and they don't skimp on the tequila! The food is always fresh and piping hot when it arrives at our table. The best part about this place is the price, I don't think we've ever paid more than $25 for our bill and that was with alchohol! Only bad thing is the parking, it's in a cramped little strip mall and parking can be a pain sometimes, but it's usually not too terrible. Go if you get the chance!

Los Compas is our favorite Mexican restaurant. We visit Los Compas at least 2-3 time a month. The server always stop by your table to see if you need another drink, more chips and salsa or just to see if everything is OK. The quality of food is very good. We try different dishes all the time and have only been disappointed once (fish tacos super salty). I have too many favorite dish's to list them all. They have daily drink and dinner specials. If you plan on going back ask about their VIP card.

Mr. C and I had Los Compas cater our wedding. Guess what? EVERYONE was talking about the food. We got married on the West Side, aka the Latino area of KC, where Mexican food dominates. People were talking about Los Compas and SO shocked that it came from Raytown. Here is what we ordered for our lovely wedding dinner: Chile Rellenos for the vegetarians (only 10) They were not as crisp as we would have liked them, but you know, it is a chile relleno. The cheese will undeniably always make them soggy. Luckily we made sure that they were delivered with their tasty ranchero sauce on the side. We had Veggie Fajitas, Chicken Mushroom Delight and Steak Los Compas. Veggie Fajitas consist of green peppers, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes. Mushroom Delight is basically the same as the Veggie Fajitas, but with Chicken. Steak Los Compas is their specialty and everyone really enjoyed it. In the restaurant they serve it as a T-Bone steak with onions and bell peppers on top along with a very interesting sauce. It is kind of like Ranchero, but more... delicious? I don't know how to describe because honestly I've never had it being a vegetarian. I know that my grandpa enjoyed it bastante (spanish for a lot) For sides we had soupy beans and okay... let me say this: THE BEST BEANS IN THE WORLD! We have had issues with Los Compas beans being very salty, but these were seasoned just right and nobody was downing glasses of water because of the salt. We have learned that if you are going to order soupy beans over refried beans, you must order them with little salt and NO cheese. This is the way to go. The second side was of course rice. Los Compas hooked us up with chips and hot and mild salsas. Each table at our reception had two bowls of chips for our guests to choose from. I think Los Compas just gave us chips because they come with your meal anyway, like most Mexican Restaurants. All of this was done in Taco Bar fashion and we had lettuce, cheese, sour cream and guacamole if people wanted it. I really like their Guacamole as it is home made and is creamy, but not too creamy. They leave a few avocado chunks in there. They are smart like that! They also use just the right amount of lime so as to keep the guacamole from browning too easily. If you decide to cater with Los Compas, I recommend it. They do not do catering very often and as of yet, they do not have chafers so you will have to rent those. I think if they continue to do catering, they will eventually have service items. They were ready to provide us with plastic ware and all that jazz if we needed it, however, I work for a church and I was able to borrow our dinnerware and silverware. Ask for Lupe, he is the manager at Los Compas and very easy to work with. I think I made him nervous with all the things we needed! Ha, oh well. He delivered a superior product. We ordered enough food for about 100 people and the cost was under $900. They didn't charge a delivery fee, but I think this is because we are loyal customers. We go probably once every other week. Would I go back? Can I have stock in this company??? It rocks! Te amo por siempre Los Compas! Ask for Willi if you eat here... he is the JAM!!!

I stop in here now and again while doing laundry or having my oil changed. Super friendly service - never had a bad experience. The entrees are OK but really the main reason I visit is for the chips and salsa. Ask for the spicy and they bring out this sauce that is the most unique spicy, smoky, citrusy? I dunno. I look forward to many future visits. Padrisimo Los Compas!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
