A frequent lunch spot for the girl and I. She orders an 8 dollar avocado chicken sandwich with lobster bisque. I order a 12 dollar steak that's Parmesan crusted. Sides are good, bread with butter while you wait! Delicious white peach tea. Overall good quality food for the price. I always end up eating something nasty at another establishment and think "I could have gotten a 12 dollar steak at longhorn that's way better than this" On two separate occasions I've had my steak over cooked. I like it medium with a pink center but not bleeding, and frequenty get a well done steak. See picture

I met friends here for dinner. The wait to be seated was under 30 minutes on a Saturday night at 7 pm. I started my meal with a whiskey sour, excellent. I'm not eating much beef these days but broke my vegetarian rule and sprung for the black and bleu burger. I asked to substitute the fries with green beans and asked if they were fresh. Our cheesy waiter assured me they would be fresh, not canned. Indeed, burger and green beans were perfect. I tried to find faults in this place and was having a really hard time. After the great meal, drink, and server's charm, I used the restroom. Finally, I have something to criticize! The bathroom needs a good scrubbing with bleach and brushes, oKAY?! (and the carpet needs more tlc, too). Ambiance? Eh. Country music. Some nice photos. I'd like to see a more sparkly clean, fresh appearance and classier artwork perhaps. My bill came to 19.31 with all taxes, I'm not complaining. Overall this is a safe bet and I see most reviews concur.

Seriously the worst experience dining out I've had in forever. Very disappointed! I did provide my feedback via the receipt survey. We used call ahead seating but where told we'd need to wait another 40 minutes. This turned out to be an error in communication because we may have waited ten minutes or so. While we were waiting for our table the bartenders seemed to be frantically running in circles but the strange thing is - no one was making cocktails! Once seated we ordered drinks right away. Then we ordered dinner. We received our salads and waters before our bar drinks. Our meals arrived fairly timely. Unfortunately four out of six dinners where under or over cooked. My brother's steak was to be medium - but turns out he likes his med rare. My wife's filet, med rare to rare - unevenly cooked. My ribeye - rare. Far from the med rare I ordered. My sisters asparagus was completely overdone too. While others ate there meals, I sent mine back. Unfortunately it didn't do much for it. If you've had a refired steak, then you know. And while it would have been the proper thing to do to make fresh sides, my risotto sat waiting for my steak to get cooked again. Not that it mattered - it was foul even before it spent extra time in the kitchen. So I truly truly truly love steak. And despite my review, I'm not a complainer. I worked food service for years so I know it's a tuff job - front and back of house. Anyhoo - no amount of love for steak or for my peoples in the restaurant industry could get me to finish this dinner. I sent the steak and sides back and the dinner was comped. Our server managed to miss all of this. We spent more time with the store manager. And what's even more sad is that our server seemed to have no clue any of this had happened. I got chicken nuggets on the way home.

I'm not sure if it was the immediate area we were sitting or the entire dining area that smells but it was a sour milk or vomit smell. At 3:15 on a Saturday they were fairly empty. The food was ok though extremely salty. Don't order the sampler appetizer its a waste of money there was more lettuce for decoration than food. The wait staff seemed board and indifferent. We were here about 45 min the food came quick but never saw a manager would have been nice to see them checking on the customers and managing the staff. All in all this place is a joke don't waste your money.

This place is poorly ran by management. We went in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and the hostess had to ask the manager if she could seat us in an area, because they only seat 4 tables at a time per server. After speaking to her manager she asked if she could place us on a wait until someone else finished their food. The place only had about 10 to 12 tables with 3 servers. I told her absolutely not, I'm not waiting to eat when there is clearly an empty restaurant. She apologized and I asked if there was a corporate number I could call. At that time she brought the manager out and he said he could wait on us. I told him at that point I just wanted a corporate number. He was reluctant to hand it over, but did anyway. I will be calling corporate on Monday because I think this is poor management. How are you going to make people wait when the place was over half empty in the first place?

Got food poisoning here and notified the corporate CEO. Never heard back from anyone. Took over two weeks to fully recover. Avoid this place at all costs.

Fantastic service! Steak was perfectly cooked. The whole meal was awesome. I was really impressed with the enthusiasm and energy of the staff. I came here on a whim as I had a few choices, but very glad I stopped in.

This place is jinxed for me. My wife and kids never have an issue and usually enjoy their experience. It's always something with me, either the steak is overcooked, the appetizer is burnt, bug in my salad, getting called out on a job while waiting for the food...something. Overall, considering others in my party, they're OK.

I am not a huge fan of chain restaurants, I will be the first to say. But after a graduation at the Independence Center this place worked just fine. Everyone was starving after a busy morning, and to be honest the non chain selection in Independence is bleak. So after a consultation with the family we decided Longhorn suited our tastes. Appetizers of chips were tasty, fruit blend teas fruity, and steaks delightfully tender. I was surprised at the lunch combo of a lovely shrimp and lobster bisque with the 7pepper sirloin steak salad. Very reasonable for less than 8 bucks, and came with an adorable serving of chips. Service was on top of it without being pushy. I am always happy when I walk out of steak place for less than a hundred bucks, which I did that day. Nice to know some chains still can put out a quality product.

Damn near perfect. We arrived about 6:30 to find the place's parking lot packed. Despite that, we were shown to a table immediately. Service during the meal was great. I had a KC Strip, my dinner companion had the 7oz sirloin and crab-stuffed mushrooms. Both steaks were the proper doneness and side items were delicious. Try the loaded baked potato. A great steakhouse doesn't burden their steaks with a lot of extra junk. They know most people came to eat steak, not broccoli. Longhorn knows this. If you want a bunch of side items, this isn't your place.

Food was tasty. My steak first came out over cooked but was corrected. The server on the other hand was very bad. She was clearly distracted and told us way too much about her personal life and about her mistakes.

Being a former manager of another steakhouse, I can say that Longhorn is pretty accurate for steak temperatures and excellent cuts. Always doing something special for special menu items, especially things usually large enough to split. Service is usually pretty good; great course timing (appetizer finishing as salads arrive, etc.) Great spot for a birthday.

Try the made in-house chips. One of the better burgers in Kansas City. Their Mac and cheese is great as well
