Great bbq- a must stop if passing through the area or anywhere close. Jesse provided great company on a Wednesday night before closing and didn't seem at all inconvenienced by me coming in while he was cleaning the place. Ribs were a perfect tender off the bone without being mush, still a great chew. Pulled pork was delicious, the pork flavor came through with nice seasoning that didn't cover the meat. Tried all the sides and they were well worth it, not one lacked flavor.

I rolled into Hannibal around 1 p.m. on Sunday July 5. A huge Festivus was happening in Central Park, but I wasn't in the mood for carnival food, so I looked up nearby restaurants using both Yelp and TripAdvisor and found Big Muddy. When I walked to the counter to order, the extremely chipper young woman at the counter seemed crestfallen when she told me that they had no chicken and she was sorry that I wasn't interested in the pork or brisket. But she perked up when I said that I had time and that if the chicken was going to be ready in an hour and a half, like she said, that'd be fine. So off I went to the Mark Twain Museum to kill some time. When I returned around 2:30 p.m., the counter girl (wish I'd caught her name!) brightened up and greeted me like an old friend, saying that "my" chicken had just finished cooking. I got the coleslaw and sweet potato sides along with the chicken breast, and dug into a very fine meal. The chicken was cooked all the way through but tender (I've gotten salmonella from chicken and am super leery of undercooked poultry) and had a tasty BBQ sauce. The sweet potatoes were delicious, especially with a little of the provided brown sugar. And the coleslaw was crisp without being drowned in dressing. Definitely a good choice for a bite of BBQ.

Great pork steak dinner. Meat was moist and very tender. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

This was horrible. I paid 9.95 for a brisket sand and two sides. Two small fatty slices of brisket on a small bun. Two small cups of terrible sides. My daughter's 1/4 chicken was black as night, almost cold and dry. Do not go here. The Ice machine was jammed, trash was overflowing, and the front of the restaurant looked like a store room. At least tidy up! The only nice thing I can say is the building is painted nice and inviting.

A great place for lunch or dinner. The BBQ is delicious and the portions are perfect. I went for the pulled pork sandwich and it was nice and tender. Their BBQ sauce is wonderful. The restaurant has a nice neighborhood feel to it.

Good food. Beans were amazing! Great potato salad. BBQ sauce was ROCKIN! We were bummed the ribs weren't ready :( just 1 guy working and he went thru the growing line very fast. Very impressed!

Very nice quaint little bbq joint in a historic downtown. The mural on the side of the building is cool looking. The beans were good. The slaw was good. I had a half rack of ribs. No smoke flavor at all and a touch under done. They were tough. Now to be fair it was 7 pm on a Wednesday night. This place is nice but if your going to be a bbq joint you need some smoke smell going on and male sure your signature item is smoked. I will try again.
