The custard is great! I prefer it over Ted Drewes but the toppings are meh. While they have a decent amount of choices I feel as though the quality isn't there. Service is mixed - sometimes you get great service, other times the employees will just be talking to one another - typical of an ice cream joint staffed by high school kids. Great place to stop if you're in Farmington but I wouldn't go too far out of the way for it.

The service is great & the custard is amazing. Plenty of choices. Great diner type atmosphere. Family friendly. We will be back!

I love Silky's. I live fairly equidistant between the Ellisville and Creve Coeur locations, so it's almost too easy to overindulge on some delicious custard. Like most custard places, Silky's offers featured concretes with preselected ingredients. In addition, they often have a limited-time concrete. My favorite is Muddy Sneakers: peanut butter, hot fudge, and peanut butter cups. I'm not native to the area, so I don't know the history of Silky's. However, I've heard that it used to be called Lix. Imagine my surprise when I discovered there is a Lix in Farmington and that they offer Muddy Sneakers ALL THE TIME. Now, I suppose I could just go to Silky's and have a concrete made with the Muddy Sneakers ingredients. But what's the fun in that? Maybe Lix is the same as Silky's, but I wouldn't know unless I tried it. Farmington is a good 90-minute trip from home, and logically, I realized that it was borderline crazy to travel to Farmington just for custard. Fortunately, I had another reason to head south. I recently adopted two kittens whose mother was rescued from Farmington Animal Control. Bonus! An opportunity to get custard AND check out the stomping grounds of my kittens' mother? Who's driving? Let me tell you, it was a long trip. I used to live in a rural area, where I routinely made 45-minute drives just to go places that take me 10-20 minutes in the STL area. I've now lived in The Lou long enough that, on the trip to Farmington, I found myself reverting back to my six-year-old mindset of "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" But it was so worth it. My Muddy Sneakers was the best Muddy Sneakers I've ever had. So smooth. I don't say this often, but it had an ample amount of peanut butter. It was absolutely perfect. I don't know what makes Muddy Sneakers so darn good. I can't seem to duplicate it by ordering the same ingredients elsewhere. Lix is on Facebook, but they don't have a website. I took pictures of the menu while I was there. See something you like? Head over to Farmington. You can't miss the building; there's a huge ice cream cone in front of it. They have ample parking, a large interior dining area, some outdoor benches, and a drive-thru. They're well-prepared for taking your custard order and allowing you to eat in your choice of an indoor, outdoor, or vehicular setting. :) I don't know if they are open year-round. With a drive-thru and indoor seating, you'd think so. However, you might want to call ahead if you lose your mind and decide you want to make a 3-hour round-trip for custard. ;)

I'm a little burned out on hate mail, so I'm gonna steer clear of the name of this frozen custard establishment and just use a common expression for pleasure: Humina humina humina humina.... If you know what I mean. Come into their ice-cold, rather large shop, which is adorably decorated inside and out, for some fresh custard, both chocolate and vanilla. Watching the fresh custard poop out the chute was both tantalizing and super disgusting looking. It was exhilarating. The machine shuddered with effort to produce the delightful custard, which was soon cloaked in hot fudge, peppered with nuts, twirled in whipped cream, clobbered with brownies, and tossed with some cherries. Sooooooooooooooooooo good. They didn't need the gimmick of dumping my cup upside down to make me a believer. To find this place, look for the building that is painted like a cow. You will not regret it. Even though purposely misspelling the name of your business to be cute is a pet peeve of mine, it is forgivable when it's a mom and pop ice cream place in Farmington. Anywhere else, don't you even THINK about it.

I am a sucker for frozen custard, I mean come on I live about 6 minutes away from a Ted Drew's so I know custard. When I am away at the lake and I get a craving for something cold and sweet, there isn't a Ted Drew's near by, but they do have a delightful custard place, and it's called Lix. this is a great little off the road kind of custard place, and btw for you non custard lovers you can get some ice cream there as well but you don't know what you are missing. the place is nice and clean, and all the times I have been here I have had great service. I have tried several flavors, and I have yet to find one that I haven't liked yet.

Ok, so being from st louis, you get use to certain kinds of foods and frozen custard is no exception. So consider my excitement when my friends and I stumbled upon this gift sent from the frozen custard gods. This place is so good! We frequent at least twice a week and it is SO worth the hour (2 hour round trip) visit to ftown jr from ptown. You get all these choices or add ins as some call them and sometimes I get carried away....omg....peanut butter, frozen custard, banana and chocolate is da bomb diggity (yes I did use bomb diggity). I have never had bad service here, just slow service.

First rate! I travel 35 minutes one way to get this frozen custard. I think it's much better than Ted Drewes (overrated!) The portion sizes are just right and I've never been disappointed. I always get vanilla custard with hot fudge (creature of habit). In years past, I've had the chunky monkey which is fantastic! We frequent here so much that almost all the girls working there know what we want before we order! Excellent ice cream and service, please give them a try! We'll be back SOON! :)

5-Star desserts with 3-Star service. The frozen custard here and the variety in which you can get it is simply amazing at Lix. Everything I've ever had here is delicious and well worth the price. Most of this stuff is so rich that anything aside from a small cone, sundae, or concrete is often too much of a good thing. The only downside to this place is the employees. They don't seem to care that you're there. They aren't friendly. They're there, it seems, to get a check by giving you your dessert in the most laissez-faire manner possible. Every one of the employees has seemed bored and disinterested every time I've gone. Customer service definitely isn't king here, but it's overshadowed by the stellar product offering.

It's custard, it's great! It's a bit too rich for me but they are one of the few places where you can still get a malt.
