My point system: 50 points available for food, 25 available for service 25 and 25 available for atmosphere = 100 Total possible points. 1-30 = 1 star, 31-60 = 2 stars, 61-80 = 3 stars, 81-95 = 4 stars & 96-100 = 5 stars. Coolest Little Place in Columbia! When you order your food... They give you an action figure as your table marker!!!! I think that says it all. Mine was the Hulk. Food = 50 out of 50 I don't even know where to start this place it is so good! My friend & I split three things. We had the Veggies w/ Hummus, the Buddha Bowl w/ quinoa instead of rice and the Cacaowabunga Power Portion Smoothie. We will start with the simple but delicious hummus & veg. The plate was simple with carrots, broccoli & red bell pepper and a cup of hummus with a cat face vegetable decoration in the top. The hummus was refreshing on a horribly hot day and had a delightful graininess to it that I really appreciate in my hummus. The Buddha bowl was any vegans dream in a bowl. It was piled high with quinoa (substitution), tofu, cabbage, broccoli, carrot, scallions, sesame, sprouts and a sesame ginger sauce. Everything in the bowl was cooked perfectly and all was equally delicious. Lastly, we had the Cacaowabunga Smoothie. This was probably the best part of an already fantastic meal. It was a perfect blend of chocolate soymilk, strawberries & cacao. If you wanted to you could eat this as a meal. It was sooooo filling and delicious I cannot wait until I'm in Columbia again just so I can get this! Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that they even purify the drinking water in house. That is definitely going the extra mile for your consumers health. Great job! Atmosphere = 25 out of 25 Everything about this place screams healthy food and ecofriendly. I have no complaints about the atmosphere here. I loved everything. The menu hanging on the wall nicely done and easy to read, the action figure table markers are genius, the little signs above the napkins reminding you to take only what you need and to conserve paper remind you that you should respect the environment and finally the explanation of why they filter the water to remove impurities tells you how much they care about their consumers. All of those things set this place apart from all others in the area. Hell, it may separate them apart from anywhere else in the state. I know I have nothing close, that I have found yet, here in St. Louis. There is no loosing when you eat at Main Squeeze. I again almost forgot to mention the industrial sized juicer they have sitting on the counter. I have never seen a juicer snag down so many carrots in such little time. Seeing them make the juices fresh in front of the customers adds major bonus points! Service = 25 out of 25 Service was quick and painless. You get your own drinks, silverware, water, napkins & you order from the counter. The only thing they could ever possibly screw up is not making your food. But I doubt they rarely, if ever, do that. They brought out our three dishes in under 15 minutes which allowed us to snack from all three plates/cups while having a delightful conversation. It was a perfect service & I have no complaints! Total Points = 100 out of 100 Total Stars = 5 out of 5 (I would give this place more if possible!) ********I want to finish this review by saying that I am a big guy and in no way am I a vegan or even close to being a vegetarian. I eat meat and lots of it. But this place is the best place I have been to in Columbia so far and I left completely satisfied not wanting anything else!*************

Great place for some healthy food in Columbia, MO. I've stopped her twice while in town on business and been satisfied both times. The food is fresh and the herbal tea refreshing. I also recommend the apple date bar, it was a great dessert.

This is pretty much the go-to place in the downtown if you want something vegetarian or vegan. I've never had something here I didn't like. The smoothies taste fresh and natural because they don't have a whole bunch of sugary ice cream. The bowls are a favorite of mine. The whole bowl is soo filling you may not eat another meal that day. They also have a specials menu that is amazing. The seitan sandwiches they have are delicious. The ruby is a version of a ruben and I've also had a philly with seitan. Both are some the best lunches in the whole district area. And don't forget to try whatever is freshly baked.

Food/Drink: Though some of their entrees are a little bland (buddah bowl) , the fortune wrap is my favorite. The soup is also phenomenal. The smoothies taste refreshing, healthy, and delicious. If you like really sweet smoothies though, I would not order them as is. They also have free filtered water. They use really fresh and healthy ingredients and so my body always feels good after I eat Main Squeeze. I would not recommend this place to a huge meat-lover who is not open to trying "weird" foods. Price: This place is not in the typical college student's budget. Example: Over $5 for a 16oz smoothie. They also used to give soup with their entrees but have since stopped including them in the price.

By far my favorite place for healthy food. The juices, the smoothies, the salads...everything is perfectly delicious and healthy! I go at least twice a week now! Yay for Main Squeeze!

I eat here EVERY time I come to Columbia. My faves are the Buddha Bowl and the Tempeh Ruby (Tempeh Ruben). Love this veggie-vegan friendly, local food cafe. It's just a regular cafe with regular people with super-great non-regular food. They do a great job of telling you what is in everything and where lots of the local ingredients come from. The smoothies are delicious and worth the price as well. The portions are big, so don't fear getting a half-order. Though I've never had one, most of my friends stick to the burritos as they say they are a sure-thing. The pastries and chips are great too. The bitter greens could use some spicing up, but that's my only issue. It's not enough to keep me from coming back here though. The menu has staples, but is ever-changing depending on seasonal foods. The owner, Leah, is fabulous as well. She's a great community leader and I'm glad to see Main Squeeze having a steady stream of customers. It's not too expensive considering the QUALITY of food you are getting. Even if you are only in Columbia just passing through from Kansas City to St. Louis or vice versa, I'd suggest getting off the highway for a bit to get some Main Squeeze!

I finally stopped back by... I'm always at Kaldi's across the street, and I've been living on coffee and pastries lately... I had the Buddha Bowl again, and it was FABULOUS. They had a veggie masala that looked good, but the buddha bowl really hits the spot. Lots of good veggies and brown rice. One of these days I'll try something else, really.

I like this place, and see nothing wrong with the hippie vibe, the eclectic food (vegan apple-date-cardamon bars anyone?) and the somewhat pricey (but still cheap) food. The stuff is organic, so you're going to pay for what you get. I like it because it pretty quick, very fresh-tasting, and there's always some variety with the soups. There is a lot of turnover with the crew, but they still have a pretty good consistancy with their foods. And I haven't even tried their smoothies. They even have a cash-card, where you get a punch for every $5 you pay for your food in cash, and then you get $5 after spending $50 in cash. What a concept!

  • Julie S.

Reasonably priced and absolutely delicious! I love the rice bowls and the wraps here (the good fortune wrap is my current favorite)! I've also heard great things about the smoothies. They've also recently started serving breakfast and have plenty of vegan and non-vegan (eggy) options. The atmosphere here is really nice as well--with free wireless and friendly service. And to top it all off--they get their food from local, sustainable farmers!!!

  • Jenny R.

The three stars are in honor of the vegetarian, local, fresh focus of the menu. However, the actual menu itself lacks imagination. These are some of the most boring vegetarian items I've ever seen. Many dishes have brown rice and beans, which is not the most exciting thing to offer vegetarians or non-vegetarians. Sadly, the dishes are so bland that I find myself avoiding Main Squeeze. On the other hand, the juices are delicious.

I recently traveled down to Missouri to visit a friend and I have to say that I made it a point to stop in this place everyday - seven days straight. The most admirable thing about this place isn't the amazing food, the made to order smoothies, nor the eclectic and comfortable interior. It's the dedication the owner has for her eatery. Unlike most businesses that try to stand for movements like "going green" (etc. etc) this place makes a statement and actually practices it. They make you feel like youre making a small change by simply eating a meal the right way. What I mean is - companies such as American Apparel claim to be sweat shop free and focus on employing immigrants. Applaudable? Yes, but dig deeper and you'll learn the fabrics are bought outside of the U.S. Getting back on track, this vegetarian cafe provides free self-served twice-filtered tap water, biodegradable and recycled papers and carry-out containers, produce from local farms, and made from scratch meals using organic products. They even compost all garbage and food scraps! From the soaps in the bathroom, to the menus, to the hand-made signs scattered about the store, this place is personalized to support the idea of living healthy for the sake of yourself and the environment. I'm not even a vegetarian and you couldn't keep me out of this place with a filet mignon waving over my head! Amongst all the creatively named menu items my favorite would be the french toast (they serve breakfast on weekends), the vegetarian quesadillas, and the thunderkiss smoothie. As if it could get any better, everything is super affordable and the proof is in the college students keeping the place occupied from open to close.

Updating my review to say that the Tofu Tacos and Tempeh Ruben, as well as the fresh juices, are still amazing, and still a great place to stop while in Columbia.

Best food in COMO. I say that for two reasons... 1, it's so delicious. 2, it is sooooo good for you. They don't mess around. I would have never been caught dead before I got to Columbia eating something that didn't have meat in it... or had Tofu in it... or Tempeh. I just, sadly, only ever had stuff that tasted like the cardboard and plastic it came in... Well they radically shifted my perspective on soy-based products. I know they're vegetarian, think they may be vegan (at least they offer a lot of vegan products), but you would never know. They're not fast food, but they are quick to serve you. I will offer this suggestion... sit closer to the kitchen. You're much more likely to enjoy the aromas coming from the food than a lot of the patrons.

I took my meat-loving BF here and we both got an excellent meal. He got some kind of bowl and smoothie and I got a veggie and hummus wrap. It was delicious. However, 2 hours later I resorted to taking a nap because I could no longer handle being a garlic-breathing dragon whilst awake.

I haven't eaten here in quite some time so my comments on items like the Spinach Quesidilla and Luna Burger might be dated, but my memories always involve good food and good service. You also have to root for a place like this on principle. Its good to have a place offering healthy options in the middle of downtown Columbia.

I found this place through yelp and had to try it during my one night visit to Columbia. While my boyfriend (University of Missouri alum) dined on burgers from bouchies, I didn't want to destroy my insides or my waist line so decided to try Main Squeeze instead. I wish I had been more hungry because I only ordered a small spinach salad but it was WONDERFUL! I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and that the dressing was made in the house. The menu was vast and seemed to really accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets. I had great service and loved getting a toy after ordering. I was very happy to support this local business and if I went to school here I would definitely dine at Main Squeeze more often.

  • Diana M.

The food was delicious and the service excellent! When we needed a dish to be re-made due to a dislike of a spice, they did it no questions asked. I'm definitely going back!

Still my favorite. Although all the food is vegetarian and a lot is vegan, carnivores looove Main Squeeze, too. Anytime I want to eat out alone or with friends, Main Squeeze is my go-to spot. The specials are always delicious, and the white cheese and avocado sandwich is what I usually order for a lighter meal. I'm also a huge fan of "the works" and "don't be gruel." If I'm going all out, I'll get a smoothie or juice and a dessert. Their apple date bars are GREAT. Honestly, I've never had anything at Main Squeeze that disappointed me. I will miss it when I have to leave!

One of my favorite places to eat in Columbia. As a six year resident of Columbia and a vegetarian, Main Squeeze has been on my long time go to list of places for a relaxed meal. Order at the counter and head out with a quick bite or take your time and enjoy the calm environment indoors or out to catch up with a friend or a good book. The all vegetarian, locally sourced, environmentally conscious restaurant satisfies all foodies. I've brought along many meat eating friends who were impressed by how delicious and hearty mindful eating can be. Can't imagine Columbia without Main Squeeze!

  • Colby D.

This is really as trendy and hipster as Columbia gets -- all for a good cause and for a niche that gets little attention in the city. To me, the restaurant seems a little pricy. But the food is worth it, if you're into vegetarian stuff, of course. My girlfriend is a part-time vegetarian, so she's drug me down that road and I've had to endure my fair share of kale and ginger drinks, bean burgers, and veggie wraps. This place has friendly employees and tasty bites. You can't really go wrong when trying any of their wraps and their drinks are all decent. Bottom line? I wouldn't recommend for the average carnivore unless you're looking for something different, but for the right person this might be a hidden gem. - CD

A bit pricey, but I expect that comes with the territory of locally sourced ingredients. I just finished the Austin in August juice (apple, ginger and maybe carrot?) and the sunrise quesadilla. Doesn't look like a lot of food, but it is delicious, nutritious, and filling. I'm about to grab a smoothie to go right now. Bright and happy atmosphere + delightful food = great experience.

Main squeeze is one of those places I always crave! I love to stop by for a juice or a meal.. A bit pricey but worth it for quality ingredients! This is a nice place to come when you feel like a big, healthy salad OR semi guilt free hot food. Love the ring of fire, regenerate your life OR brave heart for juices / smoothies!

I've been eating at Main Squeeze weekly for about 2 years. I'm not vegetarian but this is by far my favorite restaurant in Columbia. I am such a regular, I ended up asking out one of the workers on a date and we've been together ever since. So, overall this place means quite a lot to me. The service is amazing, obviously since I had a huge crush on the sweetest employee! Everyone is fantastic and highly intellectual. The food and drinks are exceptional. I always get the Regenerate Your Life juice (with a ton of ginger and lemon). My favorite smoothie is the Mini Cooper (peach, orange, and pineapple) - very fresh, no sugars added, and delicious! I've tried a majority of the menu, but I love the big sky burrito with their amazing salsa (classic). The Griller sandwich is phenomenal, especially if you add hummus... It sounds like an odd combination with mustard and apples, but it's incredible. I also love the Peggy and Buddha bowl. I'd also suggest the hummus wrap with kale and feta, great add-ons. I HIGHLY recommend Main Squeeze, anything you get will be superb. I always walk out full and satisfied, never feeling bloated as shit (usually resulted from eating unhealthy food).

Oh my gosh I want to live in this restaurant. Loved everything: food was perfect, servers genuine, owner walking around taking care of everyone. Highlight of our cross country trip.

  • Margaret F.

Points for atmosphere: cheerful colors, crocheted seat covers, fun knickknacks in lieu of table number indicators for bringing out the orders. Even bigger points for speed and for bottomless free coffee with breakfast. Not the best breakfast burrito I've had, but more than sufficient, and the experience puts this establishment up there. Sampled a bake good, which was delicious.

Wow, just wow. A delight for vegetarians. And to top it organic as well. But the cherry on top is the deliciously fresh tasting menu. The location is perfect in the busy downtown. Went for their sunday brunch and the place was crowded. Seating inside and outside available. The menu is on a black board with the daily specials listed. They have quite an extensive menu and a variety of organic juices and smoothies. You order at a counter and are given an animated figure/cartoon character doll to identify your table and order. And then comes the best part The Food. Buddhas bowl is delicious and refreshingly amazing. The veggies are cooked to perfection, the scallions and tahini sauce blends so well with the tofu and quinoa. Its very filling. Regenerate your life drink is a house favorite and not to be missed. Overall a place not to be missed and definitely worth revisiting.

Oh hi there, would you like to be my Main Squeeze? They make healthy food that actually tastes good (like really good) which is why I come here all the time for their fabulous fortune wrap. It is my favorite thing on their menu! It's got rice, tofu, red cabbage, carrot, spinach, scallions, sesame seeds, and this tasty sesame ginger sauce. I highly recommend it! The juices are also pretty great. I like the Regenerate Your Life and the Austin in August. The staff is always super friendly. The girls at the front almost always talk me into trying one of their homemade desserts-- which are so tasty too! I recommend you try the coconut haystack. Yum!!

I would make this place my Main Squeeze! I love this place! I have eaten here I think 5 times, in fact almost every time I have ever been in Columbia, I try to stop in at least for a dessert! The food here is all Veggie/VEGAN which is a dream come true to a Vegan. They have a wonderful arrangement of options from Salads, sandwiches, bowls, Juices, and hot items! I usually get one of the bowls.. Why cause it's a lot of food, and a lot of flavor! The staff has always been great, and they have litterature all over about why they choose the food they choose to serve! Very ethically awesome and you don't have to substitute taste for ethics! This is a must stop for any veggie type person, or a non veggie person who wants to just get their toes wet into the world of great Vegan food! Keep up the good work!

  • Madeline R.

The juices and smoothies are some of my favorites anywhere, but all of the food I've tasted was just bland and expensive... I keep giving the food a chance but I can never even finish it because it has no flavor

Everything is excellent. Try their daily specials. They are delicious. Their cookies are great too and you have to have the ring of fire juice. Excellent colours. Great fresh food. Wow. Try their apple date pie.

Main Squeeze is by a wide margin one of the best places to eat in Columbia. The food and atmosphere are wonderful and the staff are friendly. I've never had a bad meal there. Main Squeeze is vegetarian and vegan oriented but is so good even your carnivorous friends and family members will love it. I would suggest that you bring your own doggie bag because the portions are pretty big.

    (5)
  • Avner F.

I had "the works". It would be nice if the rice and beans had more interesting spices, since they constituted most of the dish. Didn't try any of their smoothies but heard they were good.

Wonderful menu filled with inspired and wholesome foods, kind staff and tons of personality. You're doing yourself a disservice if you have never been to Main Squeeze. Even if you don't abide by any dietary restrictions this food is just plain good stuff.

Really amazing food! If your traveling thru I highly suggest, it's right off the interstate and pretty easy to get too. Super fresh and fast tons of vegan/vegetarian! Love the Budda, Petrushka and Kitchen Sink cookie.

Wow!! A vegan restaurant in Columbia, MO. And wow, I had such a good experience that even though I have NO desire or reason to go back to Columbia, that I intend to actually plan a trip to stop there JUST so we can eat at Main Squeeze again. The place is adorable - casual - but with a very bountiful chalkboard menu display. I am not used to having choices. And I had choices. It was wonderful. Every person I dealt with was a pleasure to talk to, extremely helpful, and in a great mood (which was at least 4 employees) because I had questions, follow up questions, and then more questions. The energy here was great. I dined with a vegan, and two people who eat everything & lean towards meat. We were all happy with our choices. The fact that I could get gluten free bread, non dairy cheese, AND yet I could also still get an egg (as they are a vegetarian - not vegan establishment) was such a welcome balance for me. Normally if I am lucky enough to get any ONE thing (like gluten free bread, or non dairy cheese), there is no way I would have anything else I wanted or needed to eat. There were so many options for me personally there, and I look forward to going back & trying more of the menu.

Solid and healthy choice in Columbia. It's on the pricer side, but definitely worth it. The ingredients are high quality, mostly organic, delicious, and healthy. The wraps are amazing, especially the Petruska and Big Sky Burrito-they're really flavorful. Breakfast is super yummy as well, but it's only served on the weekends. Try the Rancheros with tofu instead of eggs!

  • Jill M.

I love this place! I'm not really sure how I lived 4 years in Columbia without knowing it existed, so unfortunately I've only dined here a couple of times while visiting. I wish there was a Main Squeeze in St. Louis! :)

Delicious and fresh. Cannot recommend the Buddha bowl enough. The juices and smoothies are wonderful (albeit a bit pricey)

Great location. really really nice people. The menu is so full! you get a lot for your money. I would say the corn tortilla for the tofu taco is really rough. besides that it is great. Definitely go check this place out! I wish Atlanta would open something like this up.

I eat here all the time for lunch. I like to eat healthy, but only if it tasts good and I am always very surpised at how well this place does healthy and fresh cooking. So many options and I've never had anything that I wasn't very pleased with. The daily specials are always tasty and you also can't go wrong with their standard menu options or their desserts.

Main Squeeze is my favorite in Columbia! The food is so fresh and delicious. It's filling and makes me feel great! The juice, desserts, and smoothies are also amazing. The set up is nice and the service is friendly. I wish there were more Main Squeeze cafes in the world!

The buddha bowl is great and a perfect portion size! The crowd in there is pretty quirky and interesting and they definitely have their own ways of doing things, but the food is undeniably good and fresh. These people know how to cook. The smoothies aren't my cup of tea, they're very dense and not sweet at all. They're not juicy if that makes any sense, but everything else is great!

  • Lisa P.

Main Squeeze is a real treat for vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores looking for meatless, gluten-free, or dairy free meals. The menu offers a diverse selection of creative dishes, and the decor is fun and eclectic. This is a five star cafe, but be warned the prices might keep you from coming back too often. The quality of food is excellent, but, in my opinion, the portion sizes could be larger for the price. The mushroom bisque was so delicious, I ordered a second cup! The Sunshine burger was a good size and quite tasty, and I enjoyed my Chia drink. Staff was kind and speedy. Would be happy to eat here again. It's a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Columbia. Your kids will enjoy it too!

Wow, Lawrence Kansas needs one of these in the worst way. Excellent all around quality and freshness. If anyone has thought about experimenting with "juicing", this is the perfect type of place before you run out and purchase an expensive juicer machine. Their salads are some of the best I've ever eaten. Hard to think of anything similar to this in Kansas City or Lawrence. Employees were awesome and very helpful wading through the selections. Too bad KU doesn't travel to Columbia anymore because I have a new favorite spot.

So after several days of meat mania I thought I'd be clever and find a place with vegetarian cuisine. Well the family wasn't too thrilled but I liked it. Had the sunflower burger and a celery juice concoction. Tasty...honestly!

  • Mike K.

Really cool place. Good food with a good selection and variety. The atmosphere and staff were calm and friendly. It is nice to go to a place where people care about what goes into your food as much as you do. We had the griller and hail kale salad. Both were really great. We also had a juice and smoothie. I would say the juice would have been better had it been served chilled. I'll ask for that next time. We would definitely go back if we were in the area.

Top quality ingredients that were beautifully prepared! Worth every cent, but if you're looking to stretch a dollar, the Don't Be Gruel is easily two meals in one. Also, it's just a great place to hang out.

Main squeeze is quite great! If you can get down on vegetarian/vegan food this is going to be an experience. Affordable and delicious, Main Squeeze is the perfect lunch locale that will keep you coming back for more. I recommend the Petrushka Wrap, Buddha Bowl or RBS&Q. OH AND THEIR TEMPEH IS PHENOMENAL!

YES. typical of what you'd find alongside a beach in southern cali, this place rocks in so many ways. carbon filtered and reverse osmosis water? hell yes. fresh veggies and fruits into a massive juicer? hollaaaaa! quinoa instead of rice? everything fresh and delish and nice? action figures as your 'order number'? how funnies!!! I think I'm in heaven. friend and i got the buddha bowl (tofu, quinoa, sprouts, carrots, broccoli), veggies and hummus, and cowabunga smoothie (chocolate soy milk, strawberries, cacao). The smoothie was amazing and my fave. I love all the ingredients alone by themselves, but holy cowabungamoley, the combo was textured, and just the right amount of sweetness. Loved it! Buddha bowl might look "small" for midwest portion sizing, but it was so filling and had a great umami and soy flavor that I love. Combined with quinoa, I was in texture and flavor heaven! Veggies and hummus was pretty run of the mill, but the hummus was clearly quality homemade hummus with it's lovely chickpea texture and punch of flavor. And where else would the hummus come plated like a kitty cat face? I need to clone this place for Lawrence. Seriously. Why do more of these type of healthy food places not exist in the midwest?!

On my second trip to Columbia, MO I decided to finally say how much I love this place! It is first a vegan cafe and while I'm very much a carnivore, they have some amazing salads and sandwichs. My favorite thing about this place is the fresh vegetable juice bar. I love fresh veggie juice, but it is hard to find on the road, most places do fruit smoothies, but I will take a green monster or carrot/beet juice any day! My fave? The Maryann-Ginger juice. yumm!

  • Stephanie Y.

I have enjoyed this place over and over again! A place to get your Vegan on. They use many organic and local ingredients. Prices range from 10-30 for an entire meal. They have delectable treats, smoothies, and more. They use reverse osmosis, they compost, recycle, and support the local food bank. There are no fryers or microwaves. Their Sunshine burger, salads, quesadilla , smoothies, and cookies are amongst my favorites.

If you are vegan, vegan or like vegan food and are traveling through Missouri on I70, you should for sure stop here. Smoothies, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, etc. Good food and pretty friendly service in downtown Columbia.

Love this place! Their smoothies are awesome! Not too expensive too! Decor is a bit on the funky/cool side, but perfect for a college town.

I rarely give out 5 stars, but this place is just wonderful. Lunch is fast, especially if you order the specials. I ALWAYS feel so good after eating at Main Squeeze - it must be the boost of veggies and protein and vitamins and all that good stuff their healthy menu has to offer. And the desserts rule!

The first time I walked in Main Squeeze I thought, "Whoa, so Santa Cruz." Natural foods, friendly, crunchy-looking staff, and quirky, colorful atmosphere - they give you random plastic toys instead of table numbers for your order. So quirky, can you stand it? Can you? At any rate, eating at Main Squeeze is a way to get a tasty lunch without the guilt - you never feel heavy or gross after eating the healthy veggie options, and you can satisfy your social conscience since this is a locally owned eatery that favors local and organic produce. That's probably why everything tastes so fresh. Last time I was there, I had this quasi-Indian dish with seitan, cashews, and brown rice. I don't remember what they called it, but I remember it was a cool twist on Indian and yummy to boot. Bonus: They played Neutral Milk Hotel! I don't think I've ever heard Jeff Mangum in a commercial setting - he's not exactly easy listening - so I give points to Main Squeeze for giving him a spin.

First time here and I would definitely return. Had the Aloo Mutter special and it was outstanding. Also tried the sunshiine burger and would have it again!

Excellent vegetarian/vegan restaurant. I am a meat eater myself, but all of the choices here are delicious! I have had many of their items and have yet to have a bad experience. The service is friendly, the food is decently priced, and it's a great spot to get lunch.

The reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is probably bc I am not a vegetarian. I went here the other morning for breakfast and it was really good. I had the egg quesadilla, which was fantastic. I also had a smoothie, that I could have done without. It wasn't sweet enough/didn't have enough flavor. I definitely would recommend.

  • Charisma P.

Just because food is vegetarian doesn't mean it has to be flavorless. Unfortunately, that's the case here. I've been here several times to dine with my vegetarian friend and have always left disappointed and hungry. If you want to have a delicious breakfast/lunch without meat, you're better off at Cafe Berlin.

Yelp helped us find this place as we were going cross-country. A terrific break from normal food, and I can't understand why there are not more restaurants like this out there. Fresh, organic, plenty of vegetables. If you're not super-hungry, the half sandwiches will do. The only drawback was that they have no regular iced tea, only mandarin herbal stuff Sometimes you just need a little caffeine at lunchtime (especially when you're on the road), and it's way healthier than the fruity sodas! The best alternative was an iced coffee. Anyway, be sure to stop here!

GREAT smoothis...so so food. They just dont do vegan as well as other places I have eaten...but I guess for Columbia its not bad.

  • Drennen M.

The smoothies are great, but don't skip out on their vegetarian and vegan dishes. Some plates are a bit of an acquired taste, but if even an organic quesadilla or the "dharma stirfry" doesn't sound good, there's always the giant chocolate chip oatmeal cookies for dessert.

As a vegetarian, Main Squeeze is one of my favorite place to go. The specials are the best offers on the menu. They have a lot of beans and rice and tofu-based dishes on the menu as well as veggie salads, soups, and sandwiches. The place is kid-friendly too. The fresh fruit smoothies and drinks can't be beat.

The best place to come in town when you need some drinkable fresh fruit. They have many varieties of smoothies both with and without milk/soy/yogurt. I have never had a bad drink here - try them all!

I tried this place out on a Saturday for lunch, and it was packed. Really great environment, and they use toys instead of order numbers! The food. I ordered a Sunshine Burger... That never came :( Luckily they seemed genuinly upset by this, so they got it for me to go and threw in some sort of chocolate coconut bar. The burger is made out of some veggie concoction that was really good. I was honestly surprised as I'm a beef burger lover! It comes loaded with veggies including avocado, and the only thing that I didn't care for was the onion... Mostly due to it's flavor being left in my mouth for the next hour or two. I think the lack of fat allows the red onion flavor to stick better. The coconut/chocolate bar was pretty good. I think they used coconut oil to bind it together which was a bit too noticeable. Kind of had a tart taste, but was still pretty good. Especially since it was free. Had they not thrown in the free dessert I'd give it 3 stars, but it made the experience a lot better seeing how they were embarrassed at the fact that they lost my order.

Stopped by for lunch while in town for work and brought my non vegetarian coworker with me. We were both pretty happy with our meals. I got the Ruby - a take on a Reuben - and the soup of the day - a chickenless dumpling soup. Both were pretty good. But what was excellent was a vegan cacao ball thing that I got for dessert. Maybe it was called the Calico? But it should have been called the "I'd like to shove 10 of these in my face right now." Soo good. I love a good vegan dessert, and these tasty balls definitely do vegan desserts proud. What I didn't like about Main Squeeze was how crowded it was. Granted, I was there at the peak of lunch time, but it was really noisy and crowded. I was also a little confused about the whole water/silverware situation. Might be helpful for the folks behind the counter to ask if you're new so you don't have to try and figure out this stuff on your own. Overall, a neat place supporting the vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free community that's definitely worth checking out.

Fresh is the word! Tried the sunshine burger and the ruby sandwich. Both were good and I would rate the ruby higher. The flavors are very subtle but they are very interesting. Fast and friendly service, interesting decor. Will go back to try other stuff.

We had a Sunshine Burger and a Griller. The Griller was excellent. The burger was very good. One suggestion on the Sunshine burger would be to mash the avocado in guac to make it easier to eat. Giant chunks of avocado on a burger are impossible to eat without making a giant mess and impossible to get all the flavors in one bite. It was still a really good burger, and I would order it again. If you're in Columbia, I highly recommend this place. It's pretty kid friendly too.

I gave 5 stars before (see prior review), but have since realized how to get a six-star experience: order the daily special, whatever it is. I came here to get a salad after being inside a hospital for a couple days (baby!), and they had a special salad with asparagus and goat cheese and arugula and such, and a cup of blueberries...totally what I was looking for. (Hard to restrain myself and save some. Then sometime after, I got a collard wrap with coconut rice, some fake chicken thing that was actually pretty good, carrots, etc., and a cup of watermelon with a balsamic sauce--both fantastic. So, just wanted to say, I'd recommend the special--whatever it is.

YES! I am a big fan of Main Squeeze. I haven't tried their food yet but the juice is so good. It is kinda expensive but you get what you pay for. The 1st time I got the juice with ginger in it, it was weird though. However, the more I have it, the more I love it. And I have the juice every day.

This is a small, bright, casual, local place. The staff were super nice and helpful. We visited after our Sat 16-mile trail race in the woods of Rock Bridge State Park near Colombia. Big selection of healthy foods, including soups, smoothies, sandwiches, wraps, desserts. We brought carnivores, who also enjoyed the place. The food tasted super fresh and made with care. We felt very clear and light, but satisfied afterward. We had a carrot-ginger soup, salad, mex. veggie bean bowl, smoothie shake in a cup for dessert. Main Squeeze is a good casual place for fresh healthy foods. We'll be back whenever we visit Columbia again. Thank you to the staff of Main Squeeze!

I was SO thankful for this place when I went to school at Mizzou. While eating pizza and ramen is a college food staple- sometimes my body would just scream for real, good, fresh, and good-for-you food. It was here that I discovered vegan and vegetarian food isn't tasteless! While it ran a ltitle pricier--- you were getting great quality for your money. Wish they had one here in STL. CBW just isn't the same.

AMAZING!! I travel for work and wanted something healthy to eat while in Columbia for one night. After reading reviews on Main Squeeze I was super thrilled to try it out. I was not let down - The Food: I had the the good fortune wrap with quinoa! It was very tasty. I wasn't sure if I would like the ginger sauce since I'm not a huge fan of ginger, but the staff let me try a taste and it was delicious! The wraps are gigantic!! Similar size to Chipotle burritos - but healthier :) and very yummy!! I also tried the Regenerateyourlife Juice. Very good!! I'm not a huge juice fan, but this was surprisingly good. I had them put a little less parsley in mine. Last, but not least, they make homemade baked goods! I have a huge sweet tooth so I bought one to try. Everyday they make new creations so I'm sure the one I bought won't alwasy be there - but def. worth buying one if you have a sweet tooth! Plus made very healthy Next time I'm in Columbia I will be stopping in to try something new!!

The food is always on point, but sometimes the wait is a bit frustrating. My favorite veggie burger, and the RBS & Q makes for great comfort food. Everything is made from scratch, and they offer all kinds of yummy vegan desserts. And Elvis Parsley juice gives me energy for hours. I miss this place!

  • Sara B.

My go-to lunch spot in Columbia. The portions are generally on the small side, but I rarely leave feeling like I didn't get enough. I generally go for the soups or daily specials -- the cornbread/bean dish is amazing. There are also always a number of baked goods on offer up front that look quite tasty. I would like to see an expanded breakfast menu (even the addition of something as simple as french toast or pancakes in addition to the savory options). The tofu in the breakfast dishes wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping for.

I stopped in here on a weekday morning with high expectations--and they were met! First, service is fantastic. My son and I were waiting for some friends and, when he got restless, the owner gave him a toy to play with! They received a delivery of some tomatoes and watermelon and also let us sample a bit! I had the Elvis Parsley juice and a side of quinoa, which I was able to customize with what is literally a sort of seasonings bar (i.e. nutritional yeast, sea salt, hot sauce, spices, etc.)--fab! My son had the kids quesadilla and actually ate the whole thing, which is a major feat--it must have been tasty! the selection is fantastic and FRESH and I can't wait to go back!

Consistently good, albeit maybe a little pricey for just a sandwich with a couple slices of orange. But one of the few places in Columbia I can go and get a tasty vegan sandwich.

One of the best vegetarian restaurants anywhere. Great variety. Juices are great. Eat here. Still one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have ever eaten at...and I've been eating vegetarian food for a long time.

  • Ted R.

Like a dream come true. I want to work in their kitchen so that I can make their entire menu at home. However, their service is SLOOOOOW. We waited one day for ~25 minutes for four orders of the same daily special (the only variation being two with rice and two with quinoa). The next day, they took over 30 minutes for four orders.

Amazing veggie juices! I had the raw kale salad with tahini dressing and it was beautiful and delicious. The everything cookie was horribly sweet, and so was the pumpkin chocolate chip cupcake. I will not be getting anymore desserts here, but I do want to try more dishes since they are the only all vegetarian organic place in this town. I'm visiting from L.A. for the True False film festival.

One of my favorite places in Columbia! As soon as I became a vegetarian I began frequenting this local haunt. But it is great for non-veggies too. The prices are a little higher than you expect for Columbia, but for those of us who eat healthy, support the Food Revolution, support local business...we don't mind paying a bit more for the stuff that nourishes our bodies and souls. The smoothies and juices are great, the wraps and bowls are great, and the desserts are amazing!!! I miss Columbia sometimes, and when I do I think about places like Main Squeeze. In LA, vegan joints are a dime a dozen, but they aren't always as tasty and inventive as Main Squeeze. Someday I will come here again. Sigh.

Thanks again, Yelp, for another great discovery. I took a cue from Joshua B. and ordered the Buddha Bowl with barely a glance at the menu. It was outstanding. Now, I'm most definitely a carnivore but after spending the last six months eating mystery meat on a military installation in the middle of nowhere, I had been *craving* some fresh, organic veggies. Main Squeeze certainly delivered. My Buddha bowl was colorful and the vegetables were crisp and tasted very, very fresh. The sauce--creamy just like Joshua described--was quite tasty, although I wish there had been just a touch more of it. The brown rice was fluffy and didn't taste mealy at all. My favorite part of the dish was the tofu. When my food first arrived, I thought that they had added chicken to my bowl. Tofu at Main Squeeze is not the standard tasteless watery blob that you get at so many places. This tofu actually had texture and taste! Well done. The service was very friendly and--unlike the jerks at a certain unnamed burger place in town--they let me take photos, which I posted here on Yelp. I will definitely be back here when I come through Columbia again.

Adorable, quirky, nutritious- and, oh yeah, delicious- the Main Squeeze is a must-try. The juices and smoothies are packed with fruits and veggies and make a perfect complete breakfast on the run. The main dishes are packed with superfoods like quinoa and kale and provide bite after bite of perfect yumminess. One of my favorite things about Main Squeeze is the portion sizes. You leave *content*, never stuffed. And being able to go out and get this kind of food is a busy college kid's dream.

  • Mike S.

They have breakfast, the breakfast is good, don't forget about the breakfast. Smoothies, they have them, and they are full of fresh, delicious fruits. Scrambled tofu in large quantities will make your manhood wither but, no matter, scrambled eggs are available. Look elsewhere if you're craving the taste of flesh -- given the foreknowledge that meat would not be forthcoming, I award 5 stars. A caveat -- a pungent young hippie carried on about the most obvious political and existential realities as if he were experiencing a moment of singular revelation. He wore no shoes. You should always wear shoes to a restaurant.

Stopped here on my way through Columbia Mo and for a football town this is a little hippie oasis. The whole town is pretty Liberal feeling though. Went here first for a smoothie with a couple buddies and we all loved them. All the ingredients are organic and natural and they use soy and rice milk. Its so fresh that it might be sweeter than the other stuff. After a few hours we went after some of the other items on the menue. The loaded grilled cheese was super heady and so were the deli sandwiches. Other items on the menue, like the loaded bowl are also amazing. I've only been here once but I tried quite a bit of the menue and it was all awesome. Excellent Natural foods, smoothie and juice bar cafe. America needs more "fast" food like this most of the stuff is also vegan and/or gluten free.

From service to flavor, this is truly as good as it gets. Thanks to Yelp we randomly stopped here on our trip across the states. I have to try all the organic, health food, crunchy places. But, never would I have guessed that somewhere in Missouri would be some of the tastiest organic, vegan, gluten free fare I've had. And I've lived in Vancouver, BC, NYC and Berkeley, CA in the last 6 months. Thank you Main Squeeze, now expand and show the world how it's done! Oh, and I've been dreaming about that gluten free cookie I bought chalk-full of goodness: dried cranberries, chocolate chips, oatmeal, sunflower seeds, and coconut I think. When will you sell these online? I need more!

  • Melissa A.

Hands down the best vegetarian restaurant I've been to in Columbia (not that they have a ton of competition). I crave their Good Fortune Wrap and could drizzle ginger dressing just about any salad, sandwich, pasta, etc to make it tastier. Their salads are filling and everything is fresh and tasty! This is the kind of restaurant that you feel like the people that work there actually care about.

  • Alicia B.

    (5)

- CD

  • Chloe G.

I love this place! I'm not really sure how I lived 4 years in Columbia without knowing it existed, so unfortunately I've only dined here a couple of times while visiting. I wish there was a Main Squeeze in St. Louis! :)

Was visiting family in the Columbia area, with my vegetarian daughter and her boyfriend and was worried about feeding them. But WOW Main Squeeze was there and it was AMAZING..

My fave? The Maryann-Ginger juice. yumm!

One of the best vegetarian restaurants anywhere. Great variety. Juices are great. Eat here. Still one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have ever eaten at...and I've been eating vegetarian food for a long time.

  • Marissa G.

We ordered the Protruschka wrap, Tofu Tacos and Limeade. I thought everything was great - very tasty and cute setting. Staff was pretty nice and there was no wait at 11:30am on a weekday.
