    I can tell from some of the reviews that this place is a mainstay in this part of town. I actually never noticed that the sign outside "The Muni" until last night! How is that pronounced anyway, money? Mooney? I've been here a handful of times...I want to say 10? Our dive club dives off Wayzata beach a couple times a month during the spring/summer and we always swing by afterwards to chat and have a couple beers, maybe some food. There's nothing amazing going on with the food and decor here. I'd say it's your standard neighborhood bar, maybe classed up a little bit since this is where the rich people live. Their beer list is decent, seems like they always have a couple brews from Bells, Excelsior, Surly. Prices aren't bad either, most are $5.75-$6. I don't always get food when we come here, but I've had the Gusty grilled cheese a couple times, which is good, with bacon and tomato. Also the grilled chicken strawberry salad, and the black n blue burger (I get this every place I go, it's like my test-burger). It's all decent, nothing to write home about. You can get the grilled cheese with pumpernickel, which is fun, but it costs $1 to upgrade from potato chips (ugh) to fries. This doesn't apply to the burgers, so I'm not sure why the sammiches don't get the same treatment. Service has been hit and miss, but a majority of the time it's pretty good. They have a patio but it's always packed when we get there. Parking around 7 can be a bitch in that parking lot if it's a nice day out. It's riddled with 15 minute only, or "this business only" spots. There is street parking but 90% of the time that's a crap shoot. So, not a place I would normally go out of my way for, but since it's close to the beach, this will likely remain our go-to after every dive.

    So I must not really get the "charm" of the Muni. Not from around here, didn't go to high school here. It's a restaurant connected to a liquor store. Service was good, friendly (but not overly friendly) and prompt. Menu selection is decent-- mostly sandwiches and pub-type food. Kids ordered from the kids menu and were satisfied. I ordered the adult grilled cheese with tomato and bacon (sounds good, I know), but was sorely disappointed when it arrived with a couple slices of Kraft singles between some generic tasting bread. C'mon! It's an adult grilled cheese-- make it with some cheddar, muenster, swiss or gouda, something fancy! I choked down my plastic cheese sandwich, washed it down with my Arnold Palmer and went on with my life. Meh.

    I enjoy coming to the muni; the food is always delicious, the employees are fabulous (they remember you and enjoy conversing/catching up), and their bar offerings are large. The atmosphere is a typical bar atmosphere with a dining room attached. The bar can be overcrowded at times (and very loud); whereas, the dining room is off to side in the back (it's quite large and appropriate for families), it has large televisions and is generally a little quieter (but bar noise is still audible). During the summer, there is an outdoor patio with flamed (gas) heaters and a large quantity of seating. It is located in downtown Wayzata, so after dinner a walk by the lake is always a must. It is also attached to a liquor store and the bar will uncork wine for your consumption in the restaurant. Overall, it's a pretty great place! Will I be back? Maybe not today, but I will definitely come back again.

    I have always had excellent service at the Muni. The wait staff and the food is great! Anyways I decided to take my newly 21 year old brother with me. It was our first time going out together since he was of legal drinking age. We wanted to order a shot and asked for a recommendation. Her response was " um I don't know we aren't downtown, we are just a bar and grill". Here I'm thinking wow today was a special occasion and we just wanted to order a shot because we could and it was out of fun! Little did she know he was my brother and it was a special occasion. I guess she is just quick to judge. So as she is getting our shots I saw her gossiping with a waitress about us. I saw the waitress look directly at us with a grin. I could not believe how rude she was being! So when she got back I proceeded to tell her that it was a special occasion. Her attitude changed towards us a little bit when I told her what was up. At the end we paid and she made certain to put the amount of the total bill on the new receipts after half some part of the bill was paid in cash. She left a friendly reminder on the total to tip off of. Which I get it! I have worked in the service industry! But wow I just felt insulted. I spend a lot of money there because it is one of my favorite places to eat in Wayzata. I don't expect perfect service but I will say I expect to be treated with respect and not feel insulted. Next time I go in I will not be sitting at the bar if she is working. I have only written one other bad review in my life. Pretty disappointed I must say.

    My office is in downtown Wayzata, so we frequent the Muni for lunch. The food is typical bar fare--though I do love their beer cheese soup and the trash taco salad. This 5 star review is for our server yesterday. She was amazing. One of my co-workers has severe dairy and nut allergies, and our server was fantastic about checking with the kitchen about what was safe for her to eat. Thank you for being so attentive and sensitive!

    I used to work across the street, so I would visit The Muni regularly for lunch and happy hour. They don't have the greatest beer selection, but there is usually something on the menu I like. Their Chicago dog is ok, but not quite authentic. Their wraps are good...I've tried the chicken fajita wrap (served with ranch dip and salsa), but my favorite is the Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Wrap (w/ greens, tomatoes, red pepper relish, hummus, provolone and a ranch cream cheese sauce)...yum! The steak bites are freaking awesome, especially when they have just the slightest bit of crispness on the outside...but they are always juicy and delicious when dipped in the chipotle ranch. Skip the Super Nachos...they are skimpy on the toppings and just not near "super" enough. Service is hit or miss, even at the bar, but all in all I've never had what I would consider a bad experience here. It is always filled with locals, and can offer some good people watching. The patio is decent, although it can't compete with the view of the lake that a couple other Wayzata patios can offer, but is a decent place to gather with friends after work nonetheless. {FYI parking can be a pain...especially since there are a ton of 15 min spots in the lot (and don't even think about parking in one for longer...they will tow your car!) So if you are within walking distance, forget the car and just stroll on over!}

    I love the Muni... Oh ya it's now the "Wayzata Bar & Grill" but who's kidding who it's still the good old Muni just dressed up a little. It is where you go to see all the regulars... I love to meet friends here and sit outside on the patio. You can't go wrong with the Muni, I mean who doesn't love the popcorn, pull tabs, and shuffle board. The food is decent, but basically I go there for the friends and drinks.

    Service was good. Walleye fish was good too. My tritip steak sandwich was one of the worst I have ever tried. Fries was most likely frozen. There are many good restaurants in Wayzata beach area, and I will not eat at this place again.

    Ahhh, The Muni - a fixture of Wayzata as long as I can remember. Every time I walk in, I see familiar faces, whether it be an old High School teacher, a neighbor, or one of the capable law enforcement officers that protect and serve the city of Wayzata. The old, dark Muni is long gone, torn down in the name of progress, but the new place is bright and beautiful. I'm a fan of small town bars that are the center of local life and that is what the Muni is to Wayzata (though Wayzata is not that small). It can get extremely busy. The menu is fairly typical bar food. Maybe a little more "mid-west gourmet" than a standard townie establishment. The "MInnesota Wild Rice" soup is a favorite. They also do a decent Chicago Dog and have a good variety of salads for the lighter eater. No broasted chicken, but they do have Heggies pizza, a must-have for a Minnesota bar menu. The tap beer list isn't huge, but there's enough to keep things interesting. Cocktails are generally small, but stiffly poured. This isn't the kind of place to drown sorrows, it's a social setting. Would I go out of my way to go to the Muni? Probably not, There are other great bars in the area that cater to the foodie in me. But if I want to remember my Lake Minnetonka roots, and hang out with the "who's who" of Wayzata, this is the place to be.

    Service was good. Appetizers were good. Entrees were sad. I had a chicken sandwich and the chicken breast was thin and dry. The bun was so soft it was almost doughy. My husband had a burger. He ordered medium and got well done. The fries were hot, but pale blonde in color and limp. Come for drinks and apps, go elsewhere for dinner.

    Tried to go to the mini today with my 2 sisters and our kids. We were the first ones on the waiting lists. They say atleast 10 other groups before we complained and they said they were still working on getting us seated. After 45 minutes of not seats we left. The manager said there policy is to seat families first. Well that's not the case. This is the least family friendly place in wayzata. The hostesses were unprofessional, unorganized and rude. I would not recommend this place to any family. I hope the owner takes a look at the people working the door on march 20. They should be fired. Brutal.

    Had a great selection of beer, and strong cocktails. The appetizers were really good. The walleye bites were pretty good, just needs less batter. Lots of room and very attentive wait staff. Gonna go back soon!

    I'm at the Muni often. I love the atmosphere - very family friendly earlier in the night. The food is very good for bar fare.
