I just noticed that the last review posted was 9/2014 and it was negative- I agree with what that individual posted almost a year ago; nothing has changed. It is a beautiful venue for a wedding; the ceremony site, and the lakeview room/ballroom.. grand and old but management is unbearable, rude, and arrogant. If you are not a member don't bother to spend your money there- if you are not a member you are treated horribly for what you are spending to "use" their club. The rules and regulations that you can't do this and can't do that and can't walk anywhere except the hallway to the bathroom is ridiculous. There was no one in the main lobby room -sign posted members only private- we could not step foot in there to take a quick picture. Same with the grounds there are limited designated areas where you can step and take a picture, no where else. I have never meet anyone like Brenda- a horrible choice for one who is suppose to work directly with the clients to organize an event. She has no people skills, is arrogant, rude, aggressive and highly offensive- Every vendor that deals with the Lafayette confirmed what I was saying- honestly she is unbearable. Why would anyone go to a place where there is rule after rule and one is treated like we are inconveniencing them? Why does the Lafayette even bother to allow "outsiders" to use their club when it is so clear that we are not wanted. We had an issue where 2 couples decided that they wanted to change their seating and the dining room manager for that evening told me to move them myself- so we had to move the placesetting/chairs etc- They tell you there is a suite for the bridal party to get ready and them you have to be out -completely out before your wedding starts. The governors room for the guys is a hot box and no TV .... the guys couldn't sit up there and weren't allowed to be anywhere else in the club, they had to sit outside on a small patio. They were told they had to buy alcohol from the club, they could not bring in champagne etc. Yet when we wanted to offer our guests a drink before the wedding because we didn't want them to sit out in the heat; it was also a big issue. The whole evening felt rushed like we had to get in the ballroom to eat and then the event had to end at a specific time meaning people and all vendor rentals to clear completely out..... I would never recommend this "club" to anyone yet it is clear that these events bring in big money to the club-one would think that they would be going out of their way to please their "guests" as well as their members. Note the ballroom floor is super slippery- I fell twice as did other guests- we were just walking- we are lucky we weren't hurt worse than just a sprain-

I was just there for dinner last weekend. They had half priced bottles of wine which rocked. I had the Walleye cracker crusted with a salad. They had 5 large anchovies on the salad, I loved it. The salad was very good as was the fish. It came with spinach and a rice mix. I really like the atmosphere at the club and it is very kid friendly, we had all 3 of mine with us for dinner. If you want a more formal setting hey do that as well. They have great buffets and around the holidays they always offer something special for kids and adults. My daughter has taken tennis there and the teachers are great. The pig roasts are superb and everyone who works there is very professional. One of my favorite things about the club is the view of Lake Minnetonka and that the swimming pool is never crowded. I would suggest it to anyone that lives on the lake.

The family I nanny for belongs to Lafayette Club. The kids do swim team there as well and it is a great program. The best part of the club (from a nanny perspective) is that they have an indoor and outdoor pool that are separated by sliding glass doors. Therefore even if the swim team is using the indoor pool, the outdoor pool is open! Also, on rainy days is a great option to swim inside! Some of the facilities are a bit outdated in my opinion, but the women's locker room was recently renovated and looks great! I also enjoy the cabana by the pool which has food ranging from hotdogs and chips to a Cesar salad. You can also order food from the dining room down to the pool area. Finally, though I don't utilize the work out facilities, they do over look the pool so you can work out while the kids swim! Very family friendly!

I had my wedding there a few weeks ago. The place is beautiful, the food was great, but it was late, they ran out of walleye, and we had a 45 min break in between our salad and dinner. The management there is unbearable. I've never spent so much money to be treated like such shit. Brenda the event coordinator is a condescending snob and lied to us on 3 different occasions. She raised our food prices 10% after we signed our contract and didn't even have the professional courtesy to let us know, she just handed us a new menu as we were leaving a meeting. She repeatedly sent us invoices with services we never asked for and $5-6000 over our discussed budget. We were told they had a full bar and that drinks would be around $7 and beer $6 after our hosted beer ran out. They charged $8 for bottles of domestic beer, and $9 for the cheapest rail liquor possible. I wouldn't mind paying $9 if it was top shelf or even name brand but they served alcohol that was literally $9 dollars a bottle. They banquet manager used profanity in front of my guests and near children and when my wife asked her for the 3rd time to turn down the lights so we could start the slide show since we were running behind she made a snide comment to her. THE BRIDE! She was super unorganized and seemed really inexperienced. They also moved us from the suite we were promised to accommodate a member who's yearly membership is a fraction of what we spent in one night. It was really a big disappointment. If I had a choice to do it again I would have spent my money somewhere else. I hope others reading this will do the same! I talked to the General Manager after his secretary replied for him as you can see below. He apologized and basically told me that they would have given us money to keep us quiet but since we wrote a negative review there is nothing they can do. This place truly lacks class. Please avoid the headache and go somewhere else.

Private club, which my Aunt & Uncle belong to, and the amenities are amazing! Short 9-hole golf course right on the waters edge and a beautiful course it is.

This club is situated on what I consider to be the best piece of property on Lake Minnetonka, and maybe in the Metro area. Of all the Country Clubs around, this one is far less expensive and as such draws younger families. It's also a club people join when they are trying to figure out if a "Country Club" lifestyle is for them. Serious golfers wouldn't be happy here, but it's a fun short course to play on occasion. It has a large tennis community. Now, while Lafayette isn't normally open for everyone, you can have weddings there without being a member. I've been to a couple and they do a really lovely job. They also host a great Labor Day party with tons of games for kids, drinks, food, and a fabulous fire works show and everyone is welcome.
