I must say that the server who took our order was extremely nice. I think that's essentially where everything good ended. We found ourselves in Stillwater one afternoon and we came to the unfortunate realization that we were both simultaneously craving pizza. Why is this unfortunate, you ask? Our ideas about what a pizza should be couldn't possibly be more different. I say potato, she says tyrannosaurus. Yeah. It's like that. But, as is the case in any good relationship, the lady got her way and I caved in like a sack of feathers. She loves the Savoy in Saint Paul and was hoping this would be a similar experience. It was not. We can agree on pepperoni and cheese so we ultimately decided to split a 10" basic (no extra cheese/sauce) pepperoni pie. It took quite some time to get to us. Too long, in fact, because we started to look around and notice how unkempt the restaurant seemed. It wasn't the comfortable sort of grime you find at the Savoy in Saint Paul; it was... advanced grime. The silence level was disturbing. There was no music and no other patrons at the time so it felt a little more than slightly awkward. Halfway into waiting I was beginning to pray for German polka. But, alas! Our pizza finally arrived at the table. It was hot out of the oven (the best part of it, by far) and looked pretty decent. We ravenously dug in. From the very first bite I could tell that I was going to have to put on my war face to finish. I was preparing myself when I looked up and noticed that she, too, looked miserable. The sauce was... tinny, thick, FAR too plentiful and it tasted over-reduced. There wasn't enough cheese to balance out the terrible sauce. The crust tasted cheap and bland and the strong, salty flavor of the pepperoni just ended up competing with the strong, salty sauce. We ended up picking off some of the cheese, scraping off the sauce and eating it. And, still being hungry, we went somewhere else when we were done. This 10" basic mess came up to thirteen dollars my wallet will never caress again. A tiny part of me is glad this happened. I felt... so connected to her on a pizza level. We were bound together by a common hate; we had temporarily become pizza partners. Indeed, it was as fleeting and transient as a dream, but it happened and that's all that matters. Flowery prose aside, this place sucks. Also, they don't serve booze. Double suck.

I was excited when Savoy's was coming to Stillwater because if my experienences in St. Paul but have tried it three times & I'm done. Every pizza was a major disappointment. The last pizza we ordered was a take out mushroom, onion & sausage. The edges of the crust were burned. The rest of the crust was soggy. There were way too many onions, poor quality gristle sausage & a few mushrooms. We much prefer Carbone's & Pizza Hut.

I'm a pizza enthusiast and was really disappointed with my pizza from Savoy. I was expecting a lot since the original St. Paul location is so hyped everywhere, but when I had pizza from the Stillwater location it was just pretty "meh." There wasn't anything wrong with it, but it just wasn't outstanding. Also, Carbone's (just down the road) is WAY WAY BETTER.

I liked Savoy when it was just in St. Paul and was a little nervous how these "branches" would be. One word: AWESOME. Great pizza in St. Paul, great pizza in Stillwater. Now I'm going to try the Savoy in Eagan. Totally worth it--I love saurkraut on pizza and they'll put it on everything if you want... sausage is great, cooked well, all the things a pizza should be.

Ummmm where do I begin to explain how upon every visit my mind is blown???? New to the area...searching for my local pizza spot and have officially found it. Where I came from - Detroit area - we did pizza much different. When I got the pizza with the sauerkraut on it - the skies opened, angels appeared, unicorns danced on rainbows, and that annoying disgruntled cat from Facebook smiled. Sauerkraut on pizza was a very, very foreign concept that now seems like it was always meant to be...peaches and cream, milk and cookies, PB & J, wine and cheese....add this to the list! But not to get sidetracked - lets start on the cheese bread or as Savoys calls it "pizza fries". Why would I need anything else? Bread + cheese + an amazingly savory sauce to dip = always almost full and not able to gorge on the main event (pizza mentioned above)! Now lets talk staff....manager is affable and awesome interactions with customers, staff is quirky and fun - I always enjoy quirky - and everyone seems to be down to rock the Za! I have never ever eaten pizza like this and never want to go back to what I grew up on MI! One more note....the pizza with pickles....get that one your return visit....you can thank me later....
