My first visit was on a Sunday afternoon. Stopped in on a whim. I'm glad I did. Very clean place with very friendly bartender (Donna I think) and very nice clientele. This place is a throwback to how rural bars used to be and should be. I appears the only cooked food is Heggie's pizza. I'll go back for sure. I love friendly saloons like this and would recommend it. I wish it was a little closer to home.

This place is amazing! The house has great suites with antiques, fireplaces and jacuzzis. The inn keeper is very nice and makes an amazing multi-course breakfast. I wanted to be the first to write a review so this is still a work in progress but this is a really great place to stay. I would recommend it to any friend in a heart beat.

A couple weeks ago we stayed at this B&B. Really interesting decor from all over Asia. The common spaces are filled to the brim with paintings, sculptures, crafts, tapestries. The owner has done lots of traveling and sells trinkets like necklaces and purses she brought back with her. The outdoor spaces are really beautiful, with lots to look at: gazebos, koi ponds, porch seating, etc. The owner seems very nice, and made a great breakfast for us. She said she was up at 430am to make it! Coffee and tea are available early. She rings the gong before breakfast is served. Breakfast for us was juice, muffins, baked grapefruit, homemade cinnamon crumble with homemade ice cream, chicken sausage with an egg on top of quinoa, and it was all delicious! Our room (Chang Mai) was very nice, with a spacious bed, balcony, separate bathroom, whirlpool tub (stocked with bath salts and soaps) small fridge, radio/CD player. The owner also has a cheese plate and bottle of wine ready for you when you arrive! Overall I was very impressed and would definitely return. The only thing that we noticed was perhaps different than some other places we have stayed is the lack of a tv in the room. Totally a minor detail, I know, since we have Stillwater to explore while there and a tv is a bit unnecessary. We just don't have cable so a little tv watching on vacation is like our guilty pleasure. :)
This b&b took us on a whim because they had one room available at 9:00 pm on a Saturday night. Mike, was who greeted us with a bottle of wine, crackers, cheese and grapes upon arrival. We stayed in the Rangoon room with a queen bed, jacuzzi tub and neat little bathroom. Bed was very firm, but surprisingly comfy! Temperature was great. Not too hot or too cold. Just right. We slept with just a sheet all night. The room was quite and clean. We have already made arrangements to stay again next month. We live 2 hours away and would come back in a heartbeat!
We had never done the B&B thing before, and I'm so glad that our first experience was here. It's a beautiful Victorian with lovely decor and grounds. We stayed in the Rangoon room, which is smaller than the others, but very nice. (Though not recommended for tall people - the bed is 2" shorter than a standard queen. The BF slept diagonally.) They provide wine, fruit, cheese and home-baked crackers on arrival, in addition to the mini-fridge stocked with complimentary beverages. I believe each room has a whirlpool tub. We slept through breakfast, but the fruit and scones that Rita kept out for us were excellent, and she's just a delightful woman to talk with. We were sorry that we were only there for one night - it was hard to leave.

Papa Murphy's is a good value and since I live out in the boonies, pizza that's already baked gets cold before I get it home. Thank goodness I have a big oven. It's good American style pizza--the thin crust is good and crispy and they use fresh, tasty toppings. We've gotten pizza from them several times and last week the three pizzas we bought there all stuck to their pans. When I went to the store to tell them, they offered to give me three new pizzas. What great customer service! I was a fan anyway, but now I'm sold! (And BTW the replacement pies slid right off the pans,) Tasty as always.

Good fresh food, but on the pricey side.
Food is always amazing here! Tuesday night is pasta night and wow, what a meal! My favorite are the braised short ribs. Perfection!
I have eaten here enough to know that they do a decent job with their food. Service isn't what I expect for a place such as this. I ordered a cheese burger and was assured the chefs can cook a medium rare burger. What received was absolutely not medium rare. Seasonings were inconsistent, some bites were extra salty, while others were bland. Bartender was too busy talking about her ex husband to some golfers to check back with me. I will be back, not for their underwhelming $15 burger with fries.

Been here a couple of times. Food, wine and service were really good. It is expensive.
Whats better? Wine, staff or food? It's a toss up here. It's like home, with great food. The wine lovers cheese plate is always wonderful, great assortment and grand portions. The steak tartare on the starter menu is uniquely prepared, flavorful and large enough for four people to share. The menu changes seasonally and I've had some wonderful seafood here. I've eaten with people who swear by the beef tenderloiin as the best ever. I met Aleks ( one of the owners ) many years ago when he was bartending in a nearby small town. My friend and I were impressed by his warmth and personality. He worked his way from small town bartender into the restaurant world in Minneapolis and landed back in Stillwater doing what he does best. This man was born to be a host of his own establishment. His open friendliness, attention to detail and honest concern about his customers dining experience filters down to all of the staff. I always feel valued here. The extensive wine list could be overwhelming without the helpful, knowledgeable waiters and bartenders. I have my long time favorites ( Malvira Arneis ) and have been encouraged to try some great new selections without ever being disappointed. I have been trying the great restaurants in the Twin Cities, new and old and have found many that I love. But I am very happy that Domacin is in my hometown and I get to patronize a local small business that rivals all of the big city spots.
I could write a 5 star review each time I go to Domacin. My staple is the tenderloin which is subtly changed up every so often, but never does the arrangement steal the main event which is the filet itself. My latest rendezvous I tried one of the often added new, limited time items- the short ribs. I felt odd ordering ribs at Domacin. It seems a BBQ joint type option- not the norm you would typically find here. But in D I trust. They. Were. Awesome. The glaze filled the plate and was also crusted to the meat. Glorious. The ribs dripped off the bone in cooked perfection. The employees are all knowledgable and nice people. The atmosphere at first blush might make you think 'where's my coat?" but no worry- wear what makes you feel comfortable in. You're eating with friends.

I love that they have live Bands, and karaoke! I think I have tried everything on this menu now. I love the scotch eggs! I have had the salmon a couple of times. I think it's called ginger salmon and comes with mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus or whatever is in season, and it's very good. The veggie burger is the best I have ever had. The second time I ordered it, it came out a little overdone and I didn't want to complain, but I knew how good it really was, so I did let the server know it was overdone. The server was very nice ( I think her name was Tamera) and said she was going to take it back even though I said I would still eat it. I'm so glad she did, because another one came out quickly and was very good. I think if you have a negative experience, you should let them know, and give them a chance to make it better. I'm glad I did!
Great pub. Gotta be good with Old Speckled Hen on tap!
We have been to Pub 112 a few times and have found it to be a great place for us. What makes it special, are the people that you meet at Pub112. The bartenders are great as well as the servers. The food is fun with great burgers that I have found to be unique in how they build them. Cheese plate is a great deal and very good. The beer selection offer numerous beers on tap to try. Great place!

We dined here on Mother's Day.....on a lark after finding it on the web. WOW.....what a lark that was. Everything we had at the table was superior. We had several different appetizers to share (3 adults, 2 kids).....my MIL finally was able to enjoy how gnocchi are supposed to be prepared and taste....THEY WERE THE BOMB! I easily could have ordered 6 appetizer plates and had them as my entree. We will definitely be back....considering making reservation's for Father's Day.
This place was okay! I went with a group of 7 people (including one toddler). Out of the food I tried, the Clam Chowder was good, the Athenian potatoes were yummy, and the Orzo was good. However, I thought the duck gnocchi was way too salty and my husband thought his chicken with phyllo dough wasn't that great (too much phyllo!) The atmosphere was cute, rustic, and quaint - but if you go at dinner time be prepared for it to be super busy! There was a lot of people which made it VERY noisy and hard to hear each other across the table. I don't think I would go back, but it was fun to try once!
Very good food. Unique menu with combination of Greek and good steaks. Feels quaint and romantic when you walk in. Only downfall is it is a bit cramped. If you go in the winter bring a coat because my beer got colder with the draft that was coming through the window we were sitting by. Overall very good experience. We will go back.

Ann Bean Mansion

Reviews:
My boyfriend got me a night at the Ann Bean Mansion B&B for Christmas, and we cashed in on my gift this past weekend - a nice, relaxing little getaway from city life. With a great reputation, Ann's Mansion didn't disappoint! The house has been beautifully restored, while keeping the original look & historical feel of the house. We stayed in Ann & Albert's room, which was so gorgeous & cozy. Even though I could tell (well, smell) it had been recently painted that fact didn't deter me from enjoying all that the room had to offer: fireplace, comfortable king bed, vintage furniture, beautiful bathroom with gray marble tile & updated toilet/sink/shower, and probably the best part...no TV :) Crazy, I know...when we first walked into the room and saw no TV we kind just looked at each other like "what do we do now?" But it was a blessing in disguise and I'm so glad they don't compromise the old nature of the house by filling your room with modern day appliances. The reason you go to a weekend B&B is to connect & relax anyways! Oh, and they had a guestbook in the room so that everyone who stays can write a little note - so cute & a really great touch! There are misc. snacks & beverages downstairs, along with freshly-baked cookies, yummm. The breakfast that they served was a little too foo-foo for our taste, so wish they could give you options on that...but overall a really wonderful experience! I would definitely recommend a Stillwater getaway to the Ann Bean Mansion. We will probably go back ourselves, and we want to try out the Tower Room next!
Just back from my 3rd (4th?) stay at the Ann Bean and I'm already missing the relaxing vibe and the oodles of bright sunshine. This place and its owners are simply lovely. On this trip we stayed in the Tower Room (and, as an update from the prior reviews, there is now a great double shower room in it - in addition to the two person whirlpool tub). The tower itself - though not the easiest to climb into - provided the opportunity for long conversations away from everything and a great place to enjoy some cool breezes (especially during a late evening rain storm!) The breakfasts are and were *always* fantastic. And they accommodate for gluten free needs. During our stay, we were served delicious wine poached pears with yogurt, creme brulee, eggs benedict over gf toast, a lemon poppy seed muffin w lemon curd, bananas foster (this was incredible), an egg crepe cup - all gluten free for me! There are lots of little things that are just neat and unexpected (and I don't want to ruin all of them for you but...) - a bath salt/fizz from L'Occitane waiting on the side of the tub, glasses of wine, cookies, old books and board games waiting for you everywhere you look, and pretty much unlimited hot cocoa if that's your thing.
Beautiful place to stay. We were in Stillwater for our anniversary and stayed at the Ann Bean mansion. The staff was very hospitable! They showed us all around the B&B, offered advice on the city's attractions and even brought us complimentary wine. The breakfast was absolutely phenomenal and they even brought it right to our room so we could enjoy it in our pjs. I couldnt recommend it more.

Excellent! We stopped in for lunch after reading all the great reviews. It's kind of tough to see if you're not looking for it. They are in the old Taco Bell building on the north side of highway 36. I had the spring rolls and wonton soup. Both were delicious. My husband was thrilled to find a new place that has good egg foo yung. He ordered it with shrimp and said it was awesome--crispy on the outside but not overcooked inside. Service was top notch. Fast and friendly. I'll bet they do a brisk take-out business!
I'm not in Stillwater much, but was in town for a meeting. Needed a place for a quick lunch. We are always looking for new Vietnamese restaurants, so we were curious to see what this place was like since Stillwater is not a typical place for a Vietnamese place. We usually judge a Vietnamese restaurant by the Pho, but this trip, hubby decided he did not want Pho. He ordered the Roasted Pork and Meatball noodle soup (with egg noodles). It was just OK. Not sure if it was authentic, but the soup had bamboo shoots, pea pods and broccoli in it, which I thought was weird. I ordered the Egg Roll Salad which was not bad, but not fantastic either. The thing I liked about my salad was they served it with mint, and not every place does that. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the server, an older Asian lady was very pleasant. However, service was slow. It took almost 20 minutes for the food to arrive, and there was only one other table being served. In a pinch, I'd stop back here and try the Pho and other Vietnamese dishes. The Chinese dishes however were the typical Americanized Chinese versions, and I'd probably stay away from those.
Fresh egg rolls are very good. The staff is very friendly and good service. Their housemade sauce was outstanding.
