Excellent! We stopped in for lunch after reading all the great reviews. It's kind of tough to see if you're not looking for it. They are in the old Taco Bell building on the north side of highway 36. I had the spring rolls and wonton soup. Both were delicious. My husband was thrilled to find a new place that has good egg foo yung. He ordered it with shrimp and said it was awesome--crispy on the outside but not overcooked inside. Service was top notch. Fast and friendly. I'll bet they do a brisk take-out business!

I'm not in Stillwater much, but was in town for a meeting. Needed a place for a quick lunch. We are always looking for new Vietnamese restaurants, so we were curious to see what this place was like since Stillwater is not a typical place for a Vietnamese place. We usually judge a Vietnamese restaurant by the Pho, but this trip, hubby decided he did not want Pho. He ordered the Roasted Pork and Meatball noodle soup (with egg noodles). It was just OK. Not sure if it was authentic, but the soup had bamboo shoots, pea pods and broccoli in it, which I thought was weird. I ordered the Egg Roll Salad which was not bad, but not fantastic either. The thing I liked about my salad was they served it with mint, and not every place does that. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the server, an older Asian lady was very pleasant. However, service was slow. It took almost 20 minutes for the food to arrive, and there was only one other table being served. In a pinch, I'd stop back here and try the Pho and other Vietnamese dishes. The Chinese dishes however were the typical Americanized Chinese versions, and I'd probably stay away from those.

Fresh egg rolls are very good. The staff is very friendly and good service. Their housemade sauce was outstanding.

I come here exclusively for the pho, so I can't say much about the other food. There isn't a huge Vietnamese population out this way, so when I don't want to make it on my own, I stop by Mai Ly. The pho is authentic and not Americanized like many other Asian restaurants where pho seems to just be a trend. The staff is great. One of these days, I'll try something else on the menu!

Great spring rolls. Really liked my shrimp noodle bowl. (Could have had a few more shrimp). We made a few changes to the menu items and they were very accommodating. My parents had a tofu curry that was sweet and spicy which was good and the beef pho which was also very good. Overall a very good experience. Nice staff and good tea. I would come back.

Stopped in Sunday evening. Pretty good selection. Very clean restaurant and decent service. Pho was good, my kids liked the Bubble Tea smoothies. Would go again if in that part of town.

Hurrah! I no longer have to travel to Maplewood or St. Paul to get a really good bowl of pho! Broth was complex and satisfying, with enough fresh herbs to keep me happy. Dining companion ordered beef noodle salad (bun) that was good but not memorable--portion was a bit skimpy, too. We shared an order of Steph's egg rolls. They were tasty and had clearly been cooked to order. Fillings were fresh and flavorful and the skins were crackling and hot. Service was friendly but a tad slow--enough so you'd notice but not so bad that it got irritating. Prices are reasonable--the whole dinner was under $20 for the two of us. There are many standard Cantonese dishes on the menu: moo goo gai pan, chow mein, lo mein, etc. I'd love to see a wider variety of Vietnamese dishes instead.

The wife and I had the pho and eggroll. The eggroll was better than most, but we prefer the crispier, flakier skins some other Vietnamese places use. The pho was hands down the best we've found in the northeast suburbs. Not as good as our favorite (see Vietnam House), but it is a solid second place, and much closer to us now. Plus my wife was happy that they include cilantro on the veggie plate. I would like to see them add a brisket option, but I can deal. We didn't try any of the Chinese dishes, but from looking at the other tables, I wasn't impressed. Besides, they didn't have the slightly more Vietnamese stir fry options of ginger, lemongrass, or hot and spicy. Next time we'll bring the kids and I'll try some of theirs and report back.

Love that we now have a good Vietnamese restaurant near by. Wish they'd use a little more spice, modify their egg rolls to be more flaky (and a more traditional fish sauce dipping sauce). All in all, those a little things. Good food, great value and fresh!

Excellent pho and noodle salads. Everything we tried was wonderful. The owner/chef served us and is very personable. My only suggestion is to not have pop radio playing in the background.

As others have stated, who knew you can get great Pho in Stillwater? Now, if they could take it to the next step and offer: Gân: tendon and Sách: tripe along with the thin slices of beef and meatballs already in the pho. Steph's egg rolls are outstanding and the fresh spring rolls are FRESH. Great job to the people at Mai Ly. Now let's kick that Pho up another notch!

Pho in Stillwater?!? And good pho at that? I was very impressed. WOW! It's about damn time (excuse my French) that I don't have to drive 15-35 minutes for decent pho! Not to mention, they have the classic Vietnamese salads, etc. Yay! I am so excited. It's the old Golden Crown (before it moved across the street by Pizza Hut). They still have the traditional Chinese menu that they always had before. Much smaller but still the classics. My son loves Sweet and Sour Chicken (of course he does LOL), so it's a win win if I get my pho and he gets his chicken! Will definitely be going back! Especially when I'm sick or hungover ;) Anywho, they're even open on SUNDAYS! C'mon! We all know Asians don't like to open on Sunday! Therefore, that is even more of a plus! Yay!!! I rate 4 stars because it's not the BEST pho I've ever had, but it works! Meat must of been cooked in broth, because I like mine very thinly sliced (particularly shaved while frozen, then thawed) - and the meatball quality is better than the gross ones with the chewy fat. EEEEW! Would definitely suggest to go try it out! :) However, the broth was excellent and the Spring Rolls a staple! Mmm :)

Opened November 2012, formerly a Chinese restaurant. Nice to see Stillwaters first Vietnamese restaurant. I stopped in last week to try the Pho-5 stars. The restaurant has retained a number of Chinese items on the menu, my only complaint is that I would like to see more vietnamese dishes.

Tried both the Pho (traditional Vietnamese noodle soup) and the chicken curry, each more than met expectations. The service was good although if business picks up at all they will definitely need to add more staff quickly. From a cost compared to quality perspective it was far better than any alternative in the area. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for quality Asian food without having spend Shanghai Bistro bucks.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
