We have driven by this place so many times and never stopped. Tonight we made the trip and are glad we did. Service was friendly and attentive, food was great (we all had burgers) and prices were good. We will be back. Have been back several times. Love this place. Wonderful gluten-free buns for the burgers make this a must visit for those who are gluten free. Staff is very knowledgable about gluten contamination, etc.

The chicken wings are so good and large. The burgers are ok and not the best but edible. I would come back just for the wings.

This place probably has one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! I opted for the Elk California with Cheese burger with fried onions. My husband had the El Diablo Bison Burger. Both were delicious and we're already planning on going back to try more of their large menu. I really wanted to give Buffalo Tap five stars but their prices are a bit high.

Had the juicy Lucy, solid burger like the large menu and enjoy that they have elk and bison options. Great service

Came here to check out the local craze - fried cheese curds. Never heard of 'em in Washington State. Made here kinda like batter-fried string cheese. Awfully salty for our taste, but I know of one restaurant in Tacoma that coukd work their way on to the menu. The star of the show is the variety of JuicyLucy burgers. Stuffed hamburger with runny cheese. Tasty! Sweet potato tots were good; onion rings (yawn) generic but ok. Great atmosphere and fun place for tourists and locals.

Yup, Yup, Yup..... This place is legit! I ordered the BLT and the gluten free bread was buttered, warm, and delightful. The kitchen makes the chicken wings separately to assure there is no cross contamination. The establishment is cozy, warm, and very home-like. I was over the moon impressed with my meal and overall place. Thanks for the awesomeness :)

Just a few notes: Food is a solid 4/5, with the exception of my burgers. Every time I've had a burger, I've bit into a bone chip. It's painful, and ruins the experience. The service is genuine, and the servers are nice. Too bad the kitchen can't keep up during traditional busy meal times. VERY LOUD INSIDE. ALL THE TIME. On the smaller side, and a bit crowded Beer selection is average, and the bar has a Northwoods/welcoming feel. Decent Kids menu, and in a pretty convenient location.

Good bar food. Unfortunately the prices have been raised again in the last year. If I'm going to pay $14 for a so-so juicy lucy & fries, I'd skip Buffalo Tap. Minneapolis has much better burgers in the same price range.

Went there last night after doing some serious car shopping. . . We heard good things so decided to stop in. Started off with some wings and cheese curds - both were decent - nothing really blew me away. I ordered an elk burger - and was really excited about it - because I've had amazing elk burgers in the past. It was fine - there really wasn't anything special about it - it seems like they just get in frozen elk patties and cook em up to order - which is fine - but I guess I was expecting something better for some reason. Also a huge issue that i have with this place is their appetizer plates are Styrofoam. That was really tacky - I don't mind the baskets with the wax paper, but if you want to be cheap and not pay a dishwasher - maybe try using some compostable plates? They might be slightly more expensive - but either that or small real dishes for apps would make this place gain at least a star IMO. Styrofoam is tacky, wasteful and cheap - but you aren't paying the real cost of producing the plates and their impact after you toss them in the trash. On the flip side, the server was really great, friendly, helpful and prompt.

Stopped in here because I'm a beer-geek and I heard through the grapevine that they had Surly Anniversary beer (Surly Eight) on tap. Went on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to drive downtown to try this beer on tap. I was less than pleased to find out they were charging $8.00 for an 8oz pour. Now I've paid $8 for a beer before. And I know that some craft beer is expensive. But a dollar an ounce? That's outrageous. For reference, other bars were serving this for $6.50 for 12oz (Dakota Jazz Club). Whatever, we were already there so I paid the $8 to get a beer. I ordered a Cali Lucy and waited about 35 minutes for my burger and then another 5 minutes before biting into it. Well, that wasn't long enough because all of the cheese ended up in my basket. Not the best Lucy experience I've had. And while not egregious, $12.50 for a Lucy and fries is a bit more than I'd like to pay. I don't mind an $8-10 burger but you better have an amazing reputation (Matt's/Blue Door) if you want to charge $12.50 for a burger, in my opinion. All in all, I was left unimpressed by my $22 tab for 8 ounces of beer, a burger, and fries.

I have driven by this place a hundred times and finally decided to give it a try. For starters; service was great. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They have a wide variety of burgers to choose from including buffalo (of course). I ended up with some buffalo wings and a couple of burgers. Their wings became my #1 favorite buffalo wings hands down, the burgers on the other hand were good but nothing special. Which was to bad because I was really expecting to indulge some awesome burgers, since that is what there menu pretty much consist of. The prices are also a little on the high side considering they serve the food in plastic baskets and give out plastic forks and spoons. I would recommend this place for wings and I will be back for those wings!

Ever since we moved south of the river, Buffalo Tap has become a constant favorite! Not only is the food awesome, but the staff is great, too! They'll let you sample their seasonal beers and will make recommendations on their favorites drinks and food. Great patio, good location... We just love this place! Awesome spot to come with the family (upstairs), or to watch a game (downstairs)!

This is our second visit and again quick seating, friendly service fair prices and great food. You can't go wring with their burgers. If you like spicy, get the Diablo Burger and spice it up with their great hot wing sauce. Not for wimps! Will try more of their menu next time. Don't let the outside of the building fool you, inside is clean and cheery, the cabin knotty pine look. They do a great happy hour business.

  • Linda R.

We have been here a few times now, and we are never disappointed. Good sandwiches, relaxed atmosphere and fun. It is noisy and and rather slow but they warn you about that ahead of time. They have a small kitchen and it takes a while because they are usually crowded. It is worth the wait. Very good chicken wings!

  • Julie M.

Loved the food, loved the service, loved the atmosphere. Fine for kids and all ages of adults! The cowboy shoe rootbeer and chocolate milk were hits, as were the gluten free hamburger buns (bread and dessert also available) and the frosted mug for the beer. Not much to look at from the outside but inside is really nice. See if you can sit on the site where you watch the water flow by.

  • Adam S.

Food is ok. I don't think they have good wing sauce. I prefer Buffalo Wild Wings or Old Chicago wings. Their beer is cold and the environment is welcoming and warm. Kind of a biker bar and the kitchen is really small. They usually only have one grill working so it can take a long time to get food.

I don't normally write a review after a first visit to a place unless it is an absolutely terrible one. But in this case I am making an exception. My friend and I had never been to the BT before. I am a big burger fan and decided I had to have a Jucy Lucy. I also have a taste for things spicy. I went with the El Diablo Elk Jucy Lucy. Pepper jack cheese stuffed Elk topped with bacon, more pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, pickles and bbq sauce. I loved it. It was a fantastically juicy burger with a lot of flavor. I am always skeptical of bbq sauce. Some I like, some I hate. This tasted just right. I did not have the fries however since we shared a basket of parmesan garlic buffalo wings, so I went with chips. The buffalo wings were a decent size. Not the biggest... But that parmesan garlic BUFFALO sauce was so good I bought a bottle to take home. The server made a big point to tell us that it was unlike any other parmesan garlic sauce cause it was first and foremost buffalo sauce. She even said that the El Diablo is very tasty with the parm garlic sauce on it instead of the bbq sauce. So now I have a reason to go back. Most likely will bring my gf since she loves a good burger just as I do. If you like burgers and wings, give the Buffalo tap some consideration next time you're going to go out. If my next experience at the Buffalo Tap is as good as the first, this rating will be bumped right up to a 5 star. And it was!

  • Nicole L.

good atmosphere over priced food however..

  • Jesse M.

Son and I had 2 bacon cheeseburgers. Cheese curds and a couple of sodas. The price was a little high and the service was slow. I'd go back for a beer or 3 if I was not in a rush to be anywhere.

  • Erica L.

I have been going here since I was a little kid and will continue going here for a long time. The employees are all great and take the time to get to know you. The funnel cake fries are to die for. I think the prices are pretty low for the amount of food you get. They have a game room with multiple xbox's for kids to play with and on the porch there are toys geared for younger children. The wait on the weekends is crazy so I would recommend either making a reservation or not going during the dinner rush

    (4)
  • Melaney S.

The Juicy Lucy was excellent. As well as the on tap root beer. But that was all that was they american cheese made the fried cheese curds seem very dull. We ordered the med buffalo wings they were not spicy at all and so over sauced as to be unpleasing. The server was attentive. I probably wont go back as there are great Juicy Lucys much closer to me.

    (2)
  • Maria M.

I was really disappointed in Buffalo Tap. I've heard such good things that I had really high expectations. We each ordered a juicy Lucy after a sign proclaiming them as the world's best led me to believe it was worth being excited for. It was a round ball of under seasoned, way over cooked squishy meat. When the burger is so spherical in shape, all the cheese oozes out like molten lava leaving you with a really undesirable empty bland cheese cavity. I would urge all of this place's cult following to give the Cove in nearby Prior Lake a try. Their burgers SMOKE what we had last night. I couldn't go back here while the Cove exists. PS order your burger medium at the Cove or it will default to well done and be ruined.

    (2)
  • Robert W.

The cheese curds are amazing (probably the best in the cities) and come in a regular kind and a spicy one as well. The sauces are mouth watering and compliment the crinkle cut fries. For the entree, I usually get the walleye, which takes longer to prepare, but is well worth the wait. Do yourself a favor, though. Go when football is off season. The place tends to get a little hectic during games. You'll enjoy your meal more on a Friday night in the summer, out on the deck, and sipping a beer.

  • Karla N.

My husband would give this place 5-stars, hands down, he loves it so. I think it's perfect for what it is, a family friendly burger joint w a decent beer selection. It's hard to get anything too healthy or light here, but it's a solid choice if you want a delicious burger, wings or typical appetizers. They have tons of screens too. Service is good, prices are a little higher but that goes w meat selection. Long lines during busy times (Friday dinner). My favorite is the buffalo mushroom n Swiss w sweet potato tater tots. Mmmm!

    (4)
  • Darren G.

Love this place. For appetizers, definitely recommend the garlic parm wing sauce if you get the wings. Also, if you happen to show up on a snowmobile they sometimes offer the spicy cheese curds as a special! The Juicy Lucy's are good but hard to compete with Matt's downtown. The menu is huge and has enough variety to satisfy almost anyone. Busy on weekends but quite a bit of seating so never a long wait. I've only had once where my food was a bit slow but they also warned me in advance. Bar area is good for adults and lower for families with kids as they have video games and such. Wish the lower area had music playing to add some white noise so your not eaves dropping.

    (5)
  • Jess L.

The food is great, but the service isn't very good. They cram everyone in so there isn't enough room to enjoy your time there. They often have a wait to sit down and then another long wait before they even put your order in, but they don't tell you there are two waits until you sit down.

  • A L C.

If I lived here I'd be a regular! A dark nitro on draft, cheese curds & xbox for the kids. Very laid back atmosphere & a house full of amazingly friendly servers-heaven after a long day's work.

  • Dee R.

GROSS! Not sure why this place gets such good reviews. If it weren't for grease their food would not have any flavor. The absolute worse cheese curds and sandwiches I've ever had. I will not be back.

  • John D.

Went in with a party of 7 on a Tuesday evening and service was pretty slow. Tables seated after us had their food before we had our drinks. Food was average to above average, but they had an impressive beer selection.

If you're in he southern metro and looking for a damn good burger joint, this is it! EVERYTHING you can think of with a burger; yup, they have it.

Excellent burger joint! Good beers, large portions and very good food. I had the Buffalo Burger and it was very good, moist and lean yet full of taste. Go early though, it fills up fast and there were lots waiting when we were leaving. Service was very good, I would recommend this place to friends!

My husband and I tried Buffalo Tap for the first time last weekend for lunch. We tried the homemade cheese curds which are very good. They are the first place that I can say have cheese curds that rival the State Fair's. We also each ordered a version of their Juicy Lucy burgers (my husband got fries, I got onion rings). I have to admit that we were a little disappointed with the burgers. They were a good size but the flavor was pretty bland. The service was mediocre in my opinion. I am sure that I will go back for the cheese curds and I have heard that they have a decent happy hour so I will have to check that out.

Buffalo Tap has everything a Minnesotan can look for in local blue collar cuisine. Juicy Lucys. Cheese curds. 1919 root beer. Lots of great local beers on tap, including Surly--which usually doesn't get this far out in the suburbs. This place is pretty well-rounded. So why doesn't Buffalo Tap get 5 stars? I live less than a mile from this place, and yet the number of times I've been here I can count on one hand. I've never been compelled to convert into a frequent customer. And the reason is that while Buffalo Tap has a lot to offer, it doesn't over-achieve at anything. The burgers and Juicy Lucys are definitely serviceable, but Lion's Tap and Matt's Bar/5-8 run respective circles around them. The fries are completely forgettable and get stomped by Five Guys and The Nook/Shamrocks. Cheese curds and 1919 are great, but are novelties at best and would never be my main reason for picking a place. And sadly, the pricing seems to be on the higher end for this type of establishment, so I am discouraged from bringing the family here, even with the allure of Xbox 360 free-play. Overall, this place is still great--I honestly can't speak harshly over anything it offers. But for every nearly innumerable feature laden in this establishment, I can either find a better example elsewhere or write it off as not being important enough. The lack of visits I make possibly betrays the 4 star rating, but this is a local establishment that tries very hard and does pretty well for itself--perhaps I rate it highly out of guilt more than anything. Still, if you need to get a bite in Savage you should definitely give it a shot. It might not be the most memorable, but you won't be disappointed.

This is always a solid place to eat when we visit our friends in B'ville. Somehow we always manage to get the really charming table that overlooks the creek out back. Pros: Expansive menu, good quality food, nice tap beer selection. I always get a burger and am never disappointed. Cons: My husband gets the walleye a lot and it doesn't come with any garnish, just fish & bun, you have to ask for lettuce, tomato, etc and the tomato is an extra $1. They use plastic silverware, and some of their sides are served on styrofoam plates (yikes). Service is a little hit or miss.

Had the buffalo and elk burger juicy Lucy and both of them were not great at all the best thing about this place is the cool at was the atmosphere/people.

A solid 4 stars... I have been to this establishment roughly 12 times now and I can finally rate it the way I have wanted too. I now know that it is possible to get great food, great service and a 1919 on tap at a place south of the river! Every time I am at The Buffalo Tap I am reminded what I need to do to make my cafe even better! Thanks Buffalo Tap Team for great food and service!

We are big fans of Buffalo Tap. It has an up-north cabin feeling and great juicy lucys. Good selection of bison and elk meats as well for hamburgers. The menu is pretty thin on healthy food so you better like burgers or fried food. Beer menu is very good and they feature different micro brews monthly.

My family and I, two kiddos and my husband, went to Buffalo Tap last night to check the place out. We saw on the sign that it was known for wings and burgers so we decided to try both. The place was pretty packed and they really jam you in there which I'm not a huge fan of. But the place has a pretty good vibe to it so we weren't super annoyed. My husband ordered a buffalo burger since the place is known for burgers and clearly buffalo "meat" and he found it to be really dry. It's a lean meat of course but he thought they could of added moisture through other aspects of the burger. I orders the fajita chicken taco salad. It was... Meh... The best part by a landslide was the shell- it was freshly made. The chicken was okay- felt really processed, and the Salsa was not my kind of salsa, seemed like it came out of a big jug. I won't be having it again but it wasn't terrible it was just "fine". My daughter had the hot dog which she devoured- I think it was a "peters wiener" but I'm not sure, and my son had a ham and swiss sandwich with fries which he didn't eat too much of but I think that's because he devoured the wings we had as an appetizer. Btw- I kept sneaking his fries- they were well seasoned- crinkle style- and tasted better than my salad. We had the basic buffalo wings first which were good- we devoured them in record time and wish we would have gotten more. The blue cheese was pretty good too- actual crumbles in it- and they had wet naps which was nice as the wings were really saucy. I get ridiculously let down when the celery is old and nasty- theirs was crisp and fresh and nummy. This pleased me greatly. I even scooped up the extra buffalo sauce with my celery at the bottom of the basket as the boys devoured the wings- and I didn't even feel like I was being let down. Our server, she was fine until it was time to go. We waited so long that we actually forgot that we didn't pay and realized it once we got out the door! My husband then went in of course and paid. We will be back- we will definitely order the wings but will try another meal choice. I'm giving it a 3 because of the overall experience. If it was solely the wings it'd be a 4.

A variety of meats to choose from for your juicy Lucy! Beef, elk, buffalo with your choice of cheese. Ordered the shroom and Swiss juicy Lucy. After minutes of waiting for it to cool down we got to devour this delicious burg. Second time here and not disappointed. Just remember it takes a while to prepare your order and a while to cool down, so don't go here for a quick bite. Our waitress was polite and attentive and the restaurant is clean with a hunting-esque indoor decor.

Best burgers and cheese curds in MN; plus Bud Light on tap! Took the family last weekend. Had to wait 30 mins for a table, but worth the wait. Tried the Elk Burger this time, tasted great. Cheese curds came out after our meal, place was too busy to complain, so we sucked it up paid our bill and will be back.

A great place to go when you are hungry and looking for some great food. Ive been there many times and have never been disappointed. The burgers are great, and the Juicy Lucy is definitely something special. The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. I'll be coming back again and again!

I felt a field trip was in order so naturally we left the comforts of South Minne and headed to Savage to The Buffalo Tap. Here is my pro and con list. Pros: 1. cheesecurds that will make you drool all over yourself 2. smack your mama good hot dog (and you don't even have to be 5 yrs old to order it) 3. this french fry snob approves of the krinkle cut variety they serve 4.servers are friendly and make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside 5. the hamburglar would happily klepto these beefy bites 6. huge menu with everything under the kitchen sink available 7. you leave in a very satisfying food coma Cons: 1. it's in Savage, do I need to say anymore? 2. parking blows goats

  • Shawn H.

Love this place! Casual atmosphere, kid friendly and delicious. Best cheese curds outside the MN State Fair, great wings with a wide variety of sauces.

  • Paul S.

The food and drink are really good and are reasonably priced. We love their cheese curds. We'd go back more often if it weren't for: * Seating is not comfortable unless you are placed in the middle of the restaurant (by the fireplace area). The seats by the entrance lean and you feel like you are going to be dumped into the aisle, the seating in the enclosed porch is hard wood (at least they replaced the picnic table benches with something that have backs on them), and there is no ambiance in the lower level (dungeon) area. * One of the regular waitresses is overly chatty, and feels compelled to spend 1/2 of your meal with you.

  • Colleen N.

Nice surprise! I've been meaning to stop in here but hadn't made it until tonight. Great beer selection with knowledgeable recommendations. They even brought us several samples to try. Great bar food/juicy lucies, nice but small patio. Definitely will be back to sample more of the beer selection at a great casual classic bar/restaurant.

Mmmm mmmm good! I am always happy and full when I leave Buffalo Tap! If you're looking for a great bar/burgers/fun- a visit is needed for sure! Buffalo Tap is located right in the heart of "downtown" Savage. They are known for their Juicy Lucys, mini corn dogs, cheese curds and great happy hours! Their patio out back is lighted with tiki torches and great fire pit and hanging lights. Perfect spot to lounge with a group of friends on a warm summer or cool fall night! If you like spicy food, try the El Diablo basket! The El Diabo is a buger filled with jalepeno bacon topped with pepper jack cheese, jalenpenos and bbq sauce. Perfect combo for sure. Not only does Buffalo Tap have your typical bar tv screens all over - but they have an XBOX, Wifi, Karoke and plenty of arcade games. They always show big fights, games and matches. Their parking lot is tiny, but parking is available all around on the street or in local businesses. Their staff is friendly and talkative, very small town atmosphere. Once they've met you, they'll remember you!

    (4)
  • Whitney G.

A little out of the way, but the interior is nicer than the exterior, and the burgers and wings are great. The wait staff are pleasant, and they have a cozy fireplace right in the middle of the restaurant! They also run some pretty nice specials on game day.

    (4)
  • Lisa R.

My husband enjoys the beer selection and the Elk and Bison options for Burgers. They nickel and dime you to death if you want anything extra. $1 for a single tomato slice for a burger...a $1 for a few extra celery slices with the wings. I ordered a Diet Sierra Mist and the menu says free refills but when the bill came they charged me for every extra refill that I had. The waitress removed the extra ones but I had to ask. Asked to have bison meat on my taco salad and they said they would do it but charged $5 extra. So beware, because they don't offer the information up when you ask for ANYTHING extra. Make sure you check your tab before you pay.

We've been frequenting the Tap more since they are my boyfriend's softball team sponsor. What great management! Huge tap beer specials and Tue night is buy 6 wings/get 6 wings free. Also, I've noticed a surprisingly large wine selection. The pepperjack cheese curds (not nuggets!!) are wonderful and for the kids they have state fair style mini donuts with a dipping frosting. I've had 2 different burgers and would definitely recommend a Juicy Lucy there. A hidden gem that is a shoe-in for the top Lucys list in the metro area!

The fish fry was fresh, & hot. It came before the promised 30 minutes. The cheese curds were greasy, but not too bad after pressing the added fat in a napkin. The back room was very HOT. I think I lost ten pounds just perspiring. The Buffalo Tap was very noisy. Chances are I will return for the Friday all you can eat fish fry. Buffalo Tap is really known for their hamburgers.

The food is excellent, and it's Triple-D worthy. My only problem is the cost of adding extras to everything. There's always an upcharge for nearly every dish. Also, the beers are very expensive. I pay twice as much for a bottle of Miller Lite her than I do one block over at Neisen's.

We visited The Tap again yesterday and I am happy to say that service, although not great, was much better. I ordered a California juicy lucy and fries and was happy with the food. I'm leaving the review as 3-stars, but at least now it's a more positive review for this place.

I love this place. Whats funny is when I was a kid this place used to be a family restaurant and we knew the owners, we would go there about once a month and they had great food, now they still have great food and we can go play darts there. We always get great service when we go there too.

#8 on the wing challenge Their sign states "Famous Burgers & Wings" so what else do you think the Gnaw is going to be getting to eat? :) Ordered a Juicy (check out the Juicy Lucy Challenge for ranking) and of course some wings. I went with their medium buffalo sauce and they labeled it "Screaming". Perfect! I like hot stuff, but not uncomfortable hot. I'm thinking I could handle their B.T. Original "Kiss of Death" just fine... The medium was not at all hot, BUT was very good and not just Frank's Red Hot. In fact it had a nice buttery flavor similar to that of Hooters (but a different flavor all-together). Definitely good wings and worth eating if you're in the Savage area. #6 on the juicy list Decided it was time to check out the Buffalo for some grub and right on the sign... "Famous Burgers & Wings". Decision made I guess! :) Wings and a Juicy it was and they were pretty darn good, for the most part. The burger needed to be seasoned a little better or more consistently, because several of my bites hit me "Mmm, that was a good one!". The other thing I would do to make this a better Juicy, add more cheese! If you think it's enough, it's not!

Visited the Buffalo Tap tonight with a large group including three children under the age of 4. Service was exceptional even though we were a difficult group to handle. Ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and subbed grilled chicken for fried chicken strips and subbed onion rings for fries. Both were really good - an "American" meal is how I described it to my brother. It was exactly what I had hoped for and more. Place was packed by 6pm on a Thursday night.

A huge and extensive menu that offers burgers from a variety of meats. I love the cheese curds and that sort of thing. I know it's a popular place and the food was decent. I'm sure I just haven't been here enough to really give it a rave review.

Had the juicy elk burger and it was fantastic! First time I ever had one. Also ordered the cheese curds, which I had no idea what they were. They were like the best mozzarella sticks ever, they don't have the heavy breading that motz sticks have and were wonderful. Plus as I am allergic to beer, they have a wonderful selection of hard ciders. I had the cranberry cider. Great experience.

Wings are outstanding. Try the garlic Parmesan buffalo sauce! Great place my new favorite

Now I know that everyone goes here for the burgers so bear with me... My partner and I had fish and our friend ordered a burger. (Cheese curds also!) My fish sandwich was decent, my partner's fish mediocre and nothing extraordinary from the burger. The cheese curds were very salty ! I've experienced better. The wait was amazingly long and there is no waiting area. It was packed and very uncomfortable. My overall experience was not grand and I see no reason to revisit. Our waitress was pretty nice, however. Not a place for me. Especially not a place for vegetarians. I still always hope that a burger joint will know how to do something more than average.

Gross. I ordered the nachos and they might as well have come from the gas station. It was piled high with the most basic, flavorless yellow corn chips. On about 6 of those chips there was "queso" - which might as well have been the cheese that comes out of the pump at the gas station. Then there was some wilted lettuce and some shredded cheese (again on about 6 more chips). On the side comes a tiny plastic container of salsa and sour cream. After eating my 6 chips that had cheese, the rest was wasted. On top of it, they give you Styrofoam plates. Not sure why any restaurant would use Styrofoam knowing how bad it is for health and environment. Finally, a 16oz of craft beer was $8. I live in Minneapolis and don't pay that there.

A friend of mine has an office in Savage. We've found the Buffalo Tap is a fine choice for burgers and such if you're in the area. Of note, they offer their interpretation of the Juicy Lucy which I find comparable to the 5-8 Club. In other words not bad but inferior to Matt's, The Nook or The Blue Door. Most recently I tried an El Diablo burger, substituting the BT Original "Hot" wing sauce for their spicy BBQ sauce. It was flavorful but that night I wanted something eye watering, face melting hot and it just didn't approach that level. Oh well. Sides and appetizers including the aforementioned wings are solid road house fare. Service is friendly. Atmosphere casual. All in all, no complaints.

Went here based on a local's recommendation. I'm from California and I haven't had something like this at a restaurant. We had a Juicy Lucy and Cheese Curds. I asked the waitress what a Cheese curd was and she looked at me as if I was an alien. It was quite humorous. She was awesome though. Juicy lucy was great. Cheese filled middle. Cheese curds were amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. Seating was a little tight. Parking is very spacious. Must try? YES! Try again? I WILL VISIT HERE EVERY TIME I GO TO MN

Stopped in.. cool little place. Great decor and clean. Bloody was good and wings were really good too but I had to give only 3 stars or probably closer to 2 because listening to my bartender cuss and bitch about his co workers and then listening to other staff joke with him about sexual shit was completely innapropriate!!! I know I was sitting at a bar but he wasn't having that convo with me and he doesn't realize how he could really offend someone. I won't put his name here because my hope is that this was just one bad day and may give it another try.

One of those crazy moments, I did something I don't like to do when you have small children...I decided to go to 'happening' restaurant on a Friday/Saturday night. In this case, because one of my big kid(13 yr old) had a swim meet, we were out and about with no dinner plans. Most swim meets end @ 7:30pm or so. Hence we have to find a place to eat before my kids call the MN authorities that I didn't feed today. The big kid enjoys hanging out with his teammates and eat inferior food like dominoe's pizza or Pappa Johns...Teens. As for the rest of us, we decided to go Buffalo Tap. Needless to say, the place was packed judging by the chaos and lack of order of the parking lot because it is winter and nobody seems to know where the lines are. To our surprise, we were seated within 15-20 minutes... The food service for the appetizers were ridiculously quick. Highly recommend the Wings(hotter the better or garlic sauce - OR BOTH) and fried cheese curd (for the little one - her palate is not up to snuff yet). As for the main course, order quickly - heck you should order it as soon you sit down before the appetizers! It took approximately 30-35 minutes to get our main meal out. Keep in mind this place loves to make Juicy Lucy(some cheese stuff inside your burger) which can take a while: i.e. 25-30 minutes. I ordered the Elk Burger - although they usually cook it medium. When it comes to game meet I highly recommend medium rare instead. The devil's egg potato salad was an excellent choice for a side. Overall, it was an uneventful night and nobody got arrested and the wife and I are still together. Hence it was good night out despite having an 8 yr old with us on a Friday night.

Food/Drink: Burgers, wings and beers oh my. How could you not enjoy this place for those three items alone? Oh wait, the cheese curds and bevy (word of the day) of other "straight from the fair" appetizers, please and thank you. Make sure to specify how you want your burger done. I've been here a few times, the juicies are pretty juicy (and loosey), but the regular burgers can hold their own any day. When you start looking at the sides, you might be a little overwhelmed, but just go with your gut or stick to the usual fries (seasoned pretty well). Good beer selection for us south of the river suburbanites and I've heard the drink menu isn't suffering either. The wings can stand on their own, they've got the basic options which is plenty for any sane person, make sure to ask on the sizes of wing orders as some of those options on the menu equate to metric ton. Ambiance: A log cabin next to a babbling brook (no seriously, there's a babbling brook next to it which you cross over to get to this place). The interior doesn't change a bit because of this, but you get a feeling it's grown accordingly. Pro tip: Talk to the hostess about the options of the different seating based on what you're planning on doing; bar, tables with personal TVs, big screened in patio, game area, outdoor patio, etc. There's something for everyone, but not a ton of space which can get loud at times. Service: These guys know their stuff. Pro tip: Know your happy hours or ask your server what's what as it might be confusing. They're pretty on their feet with drinks and our food was delivered hot. Nothing was missing on the table and we were good to go. Waiter was good enough to split our check, but then even realized he made a mistake (before we even touched them) and corrected it. Overall: It's my choice of bar, tavern, good food in Savage. There's a pretty good menu all around so it'll probably take you enough time to go through the menu. The ambiance, service and drink selection is pretty rock solid also. Really, what more could you ask for?

Went here on a trip to Minneapolis with a local. Between the four of us, we had a juicy Lucy, bison burgers and a salad. Oh, and cheese curds. Everything was tasty, and the service was fast and attentive. The menu said to allow 30 minutes for juicy Lucy's but we had our food in about 20 minutes. Also, they have gluten free buns and bread and can make gluten free fries....all prepared separately so there's no contamination.
