I did have a good experience here, I was a bit worried after some of the reviews about the service but we were staying in the resteraunt so figured that we would give it a shot anyways I have to say I was pleasantly surprised I ordered the ribs and my girlfriend ordered the coconut shrimp both were good, the ribs could have been better and a bit heavy on the sauce but the shrimp was fantastic and the sides were awesome The service was good, timing was perfect no fake platitudes but on time, and drinks never empty they were also really awesome setting us up to take drinks and desert back to the room Overall I would recommend this place the prices were good service was good and overall even better for a hotel restaurant

Our company goes to Axel's all the time, with clients and coworkers. On September 7th, I called ahead to let them know that we were celebrating a birthday. Jon S. was our server, and he started out strong, but then a large party came in. He must have smelled a bigger tip, because once lunch was served, that was the last we saw of him. We didn't even get to celebrate the birthday. Once again, the food was good, but the service was bad.

Popovers are big plus. I love these, but don't have the time, patience or special pan to make em. Fan of their popovers, onion rings (huge and thick) sirloin......not so much. It was rough and tough, not a lot of flavor. I rarely ever have left over meat, but I did here and ended up tossing the left overs. Not bad, but not spectacular..

I had the Land and Lake, it was an 8 ounce sirloin and a fillet of walleye. The rest of the meal was pretty meh, not great, but not a deal breaker. I thought the sirloin was smaller than 8 ounces, but given all the other food around, it actually worked out to be just the right amount. Usually I am iffy on getting walleye in a restaurant, it is never as good as the shore lunch with the fresh catch. But, I can say this walleye was pretty good. A nice light breading topped with shaved almonds, an interesting combo, but pretty taste. Still not as good as the fresh catch on the shore. If you are in the area, and looking for something nicer than the sports bars, this would be on the bottom of my short list)

Had a brunch here last week and quite frankly I was very disappointed. Food was cold selection was minimal and the service was awful. I have had excellent brunches here on Mothers Day when they pull there whole staff together and really put on a sinful display of anything and everything but on this one cold January AM this brunch made me wish I had stayed home.

Sunday brunch for $14.99 cannot be beat here. They had Prime Rib when we went and it was fabulous. I cannot believe it was only $14.99 when they had Prime rib, they also had an Omellette station, Walleye, salad ,Great Green beans and Belgian Waffles. They also have a very decadent dessert selection. It was Outstanding.

I had a very poor experience here. Adding to the experience was the fact the receipt we incorrect. I sent an email to resolve my concerns and it too was blown off. I used to go here on a regular basis, had not gone in a while, and do not intend to return.

Three for lunch on a Saturday at noon. The waitress Traci was pleasant and answered all of the parties allergy inquiries. The popovers were warm and fresh. Two had the broiled Walleye dinner and I had the half sandwich and salad. The salads were on par, gardens and ceasar. The Walleye came out looking rather sad on a bleak plate that was too large for only the fillet and a baked potato or a small ramekin thing of wildrice. My half french dip was great with thin sliced prime, peppers and cheese as described in the menu. The aujus had slopped a little on the way from the kitchen making it soggy enough to finish with utinsils. I love a philly or french dip and it is my go to menu item to judge a bar by, this had great flavor. Traci provided good service and ice tea/pop refills without hovering or neglecting. I give a 3 and not a 4 because nothing was said about the walleye.

The two stars are for the great cocktail and wine we had. The food was terrible!! Please save your money and time if you are looking for a tasty meal. Service was ok but the menu selection was poor and then the upsell at the end of the meal with the loyalty program...... Really

I had dinner here with a buddy last night after he bought a car. I always think their chips are great with a cold beer when sitting at the bar so I suggested Axels. I've been here before as well to the one in Mendota Heights. This one is fine but it is attached to the hotel so you get a lot of that crowd. That crowed is the quiet, respectful business professionals dining alone minding their business being very polite not bothering anyone. Then, you have the drunk, less than professional, out of towners sitting at the bar making a fool of themselves being horny trying to pick up the equally as drunk but far from, cougar. Entertaining none the less. Our waiter was busy as he was also the bartender. He wasn't the quickest but did ok for being on his own. They should consider adding an additional staff member to cover the outer bar area. He was very friendly though! We ordered pasta as the menu isn't large but that's fine. The pop overs are good. The maple butter is a nice touch and differs from the standard whipped honey butter. We got salads also. Mine was good. Nothing unique about it. My buddy had the Greek salad to start and he enjoyed it quite a bit. The pasta my friend had he said was good. Nothing worth driving from Edina just to have but he was satisfied. My pasta was the tortellini. I said it had some sort of pesto sauce and came as more of a soup. Very runny. The tortellini was good but the fresh mozzarella congealed quickly as the temperature quickly dissipated. I was full at the end of the night. Since I helped my friend buy a car it was his treat. I feel bad and wished I would have recommended somewhere else for the money. I will probably stick to just beer and bar snacks next time.
