So because it was cold out and this place was in the hotel, I ended up being here three times in one day. Lunch, dinner, and late night drinks. Late night drinks was best experience. The menu is huge, overwhelmingly huge. The food was good and came out quickly and hot, all bonuses. The chicken wild rice soup was fantastic. Our lunch server was great very friendly and patient with our large group (that also had two small children). Our dinner server was fine, until we found out later in the evening that she had been completely wrong about drinks. My sister doesn't like beer (crazy, I know) and so she asked what they had for cider, specifically if they had Angry Orchard. Server said they didn't have any ciders of any kind, we were surprised and disappointed but moved on with our meal. We go back for drinks later in the evening, different server and my gluten free friend asks what they have for gluten free drinks. Lo and behold Angry Orchard is offered as an option. Speaking of gluten free, they are pretty veggie and gluten free friendly. They do have ciders, two gluten free beers, and a full bar as well. Food wise I saw several gluten free options, and I had a tomato, mozzarella, and spinach sandwich on homemade bread that was downright delicious. I get not knowing your menu if you're new and the menu is as large as it is, but it was pretty frustrating to have specifically asked for a drink, been told they don't serve it, come back four hours later and have be an option. If you don't know if there's cider available, say you'll go find out, it's easy enough.

Hardly any vegetarian options... just look at their menu. Meat covered in meat sauce with a side of meat.

A bit off the beaten path. This oasis in the Best Western hotel is a pleasant surprise. Very nice darker atmosphere with soft tones. Service was friendly and the food was actually very good with a plethora of choices. A fun place to go with friends or a night out with your better half. Check it out and buy me lunch there.

The restaurant is attached to the Centerstone plaza hotel. Generally, most restaurants attached to hotels are ok...but this one is awesome. They have a large choice of gluten free and great tasting healthy food choices. This is the First time I tried gluten free carrot cake and it was delicious ...homemade with fresh ingredients. This is my third night stay and I have ordered very dinner meal from this restaurant...I give every meal a 5 star rating.

I never write reviews. However, when the service is just bad enough to push you to the point of reviewing, then perhaps I can help others avoid this problem. Similar to what others said, there was no acknowledgement when I walked in- meaning two of the hosts ignored me to dumbly pass the phone back and forth taking what must have been room service orders. When one of the girls walking by and ignoring the line of people waiting for seats finally acknowledges me, she tells me it'll be 35 minutes (the place is full of empty tables and I'm flying solo). So I go sit at the bar to wait. The bartender (Tom I believe) makes absolutely no effort to look my way let alone hand me a menu. I finally flag him down, asking for a menu and he seems clearly annoyed. When I politely ask him for a drink menu and ten minutes (when he finally comes back) later a gluten free menu, he's clearly pissed. Long story short..the service is terrible. Especially at the bar. If you're gluten free, go to one of the many other places in Rochester who are happy to have your patronage.

I'm vegetarian and yes, the options are limited, but the veggie sandwich was amazing. Sweet potato fries were great too. I'd go back!

Everything we had was very good - but the wait time was long. Try the Surly Bender, a local brew. It was worth the wait. Atmosphere and vegetarian/vegan options made it a worthwhile trip.

I enjoyed my visits to Twigs and when I am in Rochester, Twigs is my go to place. Love the selection on the gluten-free menu. Great food and service.

I've always wanted to try Twigs so we decided to swing by on a warm sunny Thursday night because I've heard lots of good things about their patio. We walked up to the restaurant and I noticed that their patio fireplaces were blazing but all their patio umbrellas were piled up in the corner. Dang, guess I won't be sitting on the patio (I'm sensitive to the sun AND who wants their pinot grigio boiling under the summer sun?) Walk in and the hostess is scribbling on something...doesn't look up and greet us at all. A few minutes go by and she finally acknowledges us...just to tell us someone will be with us shortly??? Ohhhh kaaaay. A few more minutes go by and we were eventually seated. (The place is almost empty BTW) I ask the waitress if there is a happy hour, her response "I think so, let me go ask". A second waitress comes by 30 seconds later to give us water and I ask her about the happy hour...I get the same response. At this point I was really annoyed and I'm a very easy going person. So we actually got up and walked out...that's the first time I've ever done that. Anyway...that was a really long story with an unhappy ending :-p

The decor and name are very nice. I sat down to a sticky wood table---sticky due to the varnish of the wood and humidity. This is something I don't think should happen at a fancy restaurant which is what they are trying to be. The food was overpriced, weird, and just not worth it. I dined with five other ladies and tasted everything they had---we all got something different. A couple items that were good ---the parm bites and the chicken and wild rice soup and the green beans with blue cheese dressing. I ordered the polenta and i expected creamy goodness--it was a fried chunk of thick cornmeal with an omelet on top and some ground pork...for right around 15.00...yeah---I was not impressed. The restroom is all the way outside of the restaurant and past the hotel lobby--not classy. The bread were those prefab white rolls that they heat in the oven. Seriously can you not do better with a bread choice? I will avoid this place next time I'm in the area.

Food is usually good but the wait! Omg! My party has been waiting for over an hour for some small plates. Difficult watching people come in, be sat, order, get food, and get ready to pay before the waitress even comes to check on you. Make sure you are not super hungry or on a time schedule before you get here!

Color me surprised when I found a restaurant in out hotel (the Best Western Soldier's Field) that was really delectable. I am a huge fan of the spinach cranberry salad and the caramet apple martini!!!!! The ambiance is pleasing and the food is wonderful. As a guest of the hotel, it is nice to just step out of the elevator and eat a delicious, healthy meal right here without running all over town. I highly recommend this restaurant and I know I would visit if I were a local. Did I mention how good the caramel apple martini is??? :-)

Restaurant is conveniently attached to the Best Western main building and its got beautiful Christmas lights and tiki torches for the outside patio. Our server was Adam and he was a really nice laid back guy kept returning back to our table to make sure everything was okay. Wish we had the time to try cooking our own steak or seafood on the heated rocks because I didn't particularly enjoy my Twigs twin cut steak. But the gluten free garlic bread they served are a pretty tasty appetizer like how this place tries to be healthy by having a separate "gluten free menu". Didn't help that our tabletops were really gross and sticky either. Decided to spoil ourselves in the end with some delicious chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.

My wife and I travel all over the country and eat at many different restaurants, but this was by far one of my top five! You will not be disappointed.

Stone grilling: An unique way to cook your meat. Go for their hot rock menu and you won't regret it. This selection makes Twigs Tavern a gem in the neighborhood. For the two of us, we ordered a combo platter for two. For $38, you get to have filet mignon, tavern cut steak, bobcock pork, jumbo scallops, and shrimps, 5 difference sauces, 2 sides, and grilled pepper on the side. It is not just affordable, Twigs Tavern had a nice ambiance too. We dined there for early evening when it wasn't too cold yet, with the running water and luscious plants next to us, it was a perfect spot for dating. Definitely must try.

I had high hopes for Twigs, but found myself poorly disappointed. The Thai Cream Scallop appetizer was good, but nothing spectacular. My boyfriend ordered from the rock grilling menu. Unique concept, but I go to a restaurant so I don't have to cook. His mashed potatoes were good, but came out cold. I got the Parmesan Polenta. I was so excited for this dish, but it was nothing like I had expected. It had an odd flavor that I didn't quite care for. The waitress was not very attentive. She spent half of her time flirting with a table of gentleman (I don't even think it was her table). She also messed up on my drink order. She seemed aloof and annoyed with our table and with others around us. Maybe it was just an off night, but overall , it was not the experience I had hoped for.

The decor here was great and the patio looks amazing. That is about all I would say I liked about the place. The service was quite slow and the server forgot to bring our bread over. We finally asked for it, but when she brought it out the rolls were warm but rock hard on the outside. The rest of the food was okay, and majorly under seasoned. I don't think they actually used salt on anything since I rarely have to add salt to my food at a restaurant. The hot rock looks like a cute gimmick to bring people too, and since you cook the food yourself it might be the best way to go. Personally when I go to a restaurant though I would prefer they cook my food for me and do it well.

My husband and I love this place. Love to dine-in outside and enjoy the fired grill. I love the gluten-free option.

They do not take reservations unless your group size is very large. We had a nice dinner here with family. They've got a cool way to cook your own meat. You can use a heated stone put in the center of the table. I should have gone with some sort of option like that. Its always a better idea to go with what a restaurant's specialty is. I don't know why but I always seem to want to try a burger wherever I go. Unfortunately, the burger here is not very good. I just wasn't impressed with it. Everyone else's meals looked a lot better. The restaurant was nice, the service was good, but my burger wasn't.

Gluten-free diners, check this place out! I was driving back to the Cities from SE MN and decided Rochester was a good place to stop for dinner. I used my Find Me Gluten Free app on my phone and this was one of the places that came up. Their menu is fantastic with sooooo many choices for fellow GF eaters out there. I had the pulled pork sandwich with BBQ sauce and sweet potato chips. YUM. So sososo good. And if you have Celiacs, this place uses separate dishes and appliances for their GF cooking, so you're in good hands. The owner also has Celiacs and made it a point to make it Celiac-friendly. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that our waitress was really slow to take our drink order, really slow to check on us, etc. Just slow. We weren't in a hurry, but this is a pet peeve of mine. Otherwise, this place was the bomb! I will definitely be eating here again the next time I'm in the Rochester area.

Was served gluten free garlic bread which didn't have much garlic flavor, bread was soft and had a good chew w/ a rice-y taste. The caramelized onion risotto cake tasted like just plain rice. Ordered the hot rock with scallops, the scallops were very tasty w/ the raspberry-chipotle sauce and good w/ the pineapple bourbon sauce. The oreo bread pudding was dense, dry and heavy w/ not much flavor. The pear-tini (recommended) tasted like pear nectar w/out alcohol

Love the large gluten free menu and fabulous taste! Wife and I were in town for appointments as stopped by based on suggestion from whole food coop. Had the fried green beans, barimundi, and chicken pineapple strip (flat bread). All gluten free and very full flavored. Will definitely be back!

I have to say that Twigs has the best chili in all of Rochester; it's made with Babcock pork and quinoa and is incredibly flavorful and delicious (served with sour cream, feta, and some pico de gallo like thing). I also highly recommend the shrimp nachos and the rutabaga. The butternut squash ravioli dish was also wonderfully yummy. The chili is a tad on the expensive side ($6.99 for a small cup) but it's quite hefty and filling. Would definitely recommend!

It depends on the hotel but I normally avoid the hotel restaurants. However, the nasty weather prevented me from driving out to find a place for lunch. So I went down to Twigs and ordered a couple of small dishes, Ahi tuna taco and shrimp nachos. The tuna taco came with cucumbers and lettuce. The cucumbers and lettuce was mixed in with some salad dressing and it had good flavor. I took a bite of tuna and there was absolutely no taste whatsoever. The shrimp nacho tasted okay. There was small amount of shrimp mixed with melted cheese on top of the nachos.

Top notch service and food, and a beautiful outdoor patio to boot! We had to wait ~30 minutes for a spot outside (so come early and hungry) but most of that was spent at the bar, chatting with all the other patrons who were friendly and even shared some of their appetizers with us! The server found us immediately after space was available. It was one of the most relaxing patios I've ever eaten at - running water, nice sunset, spacious table spacing and a fireplace once it got dark. Service was great. We had water refills throughout the night, and our server was even able to get us white vinegar, something one of our friends desperately wanted on his sweet potato fries. The Green Bean and Zucchini Frittis were incredible, mostly because of the cayenne horseradish dip. A great way to get your kids to eat veggies! Everything else, from the Butternut Ravioli, Babcock Cajun Pineapple Sausage Strips to Baby Back Ribs and the Babcock Pork Wings (pork hock with a tangy corn salsa) were so tasty, our plates were practically licked clean. We stayed away from the hot rocks, since nobody said anything good about it. And Celiacs rejoice! They have a Gluten-free menu and it's basically the entire menu! AND you can eat the Green Bean Frittis! The owner was recently diagnosed with Celiac and takes it seriously. The staff ensured that there is no cross-contamination. The bill also didn't break the bank, surprisingly! Given the proportions served, I really expected to walk away poor. Come here if you want to experience some real flavours and a great patio. Don't be put off by the hotel affiliation!

This restaurant has a seriously hit-or-miss menu. The butternut squash ravioli are indeed incredible, and the chicken flatbread pizza was pretty good too. However...most of the other menu items we tried were pretty terrible. As in...TGI Fridays/Applebees quality, but at a much higher price. My husband is gluten free, so we were excited to try their gluten free offerings. Most of them were very disappointing. Even restaurants that do not advertise their gluten-free offerings seem to have better options that this one (which specifically advertises this feature). In all fairness, we did not try the hot rock dishes. Maybe those are better. However, with the uneven food we sampled, I would not trust their seafood or meat. Nor would I pony up the money to come back and give them a second shot.

I couldn't disagree with the negative reviews I see here more. I think Twig's is in the top 3 restaurants in town. I highly recommend the Green Bean Frittis with blue cheese dip and cayenne horseradish dip. AWESOME. I am very particular about my Ahi Tuna, and I have to say I've tried Twig's twice now at is seared perfection. Do not listen to the haters!

Very cool restaurant, they have a cozy courtyard for outdoor seating that's really nicely landscaped. Its a great spot for excellent cocktails and d'oeuvres. Inside is a little dark but comfortable, the menu is not your traditional fare, but it is excellent, nice spot.

It has a large menu with small items. Price point kinda high for portion size. Overall experience so so. The food is nothing to brag about. Service is ok.

What an extremely interesting place. My friend wanted to meet up here even tho both of us were out of state. I honestly thought I had wondered onto the wrong Twigs as the outside did not look promising at all as it shares a parking lot with low end apartments and is connected to an old best western. But I was thirsty and decided to check out the inside which is accessed through the BW lobby doors. WOW! The inside looks outstanding and a great place to relax. I wanted to try cooking on the stone and was wanting ahi tuna. However I found out that your not allowed to season any meat before placing it on the rock due to smoke and aromas that other customers may not like. So I decided with the lamb chops and shrimp! What an awesome meal!! The lamb was so tasty and the shrimp was the best ever! If Twigs was downtown in a big city and the utensils were better, the rock a different shape or colors, and more plates to actually eat your meal this place would be a 5! What in the world are you doing in a best western surrounded by the ghetto???

I am from California visiting friends here in Rochester. I was a bit concerned about the availability of gluten free food and its quality prior to coming. My friend found Twigs online for us to try. Twigs is excellent for gluten free food (my friends really enjoyed their gluten filled food too). There were so many options, more than I see at most restaurants in California. Each dish was delicious. They have gluten free onion rings which I have NEVER had since going gluten free. There were excellent. We have been to Twigs for 2 of the 4 meals we have eaten out. We may go one more time before I leave. The food is cooked with such high quality and taste. The only problem with this restaurant is that the food is too good and I was always too full to get to dessert. I am going to miss them and look forward to going there again when I return for another visit. I highly recommend this restaurant for gluten free and gluten eaters. Of note, the pictures of the outside do not do it justice. It is much nicer and cozy inside. The service is excellent also.

The staff at the HGI where I was staying recommended this local establishment as one of the top 6 in Rochester. I truly hope they were mistaken. This was hands down the worst meal I've had in 2 years. The friendly bartender explained they were debuting a new menu and gave me a copy while I enjoyed a happy hour drink. Once I had finished my drink, i was promptly seated and the excellent service began. The green bean frittis from the older menu were novel and actually delicious. The pear salad, a very tired iceberg lettuce blend "dressed up" with about 12 one quarter inch cubes of fresh pear, 6 walnuts, a few globs of blue cheese dressed with an unremarkable dressing was downright depressing. Perfectly timed, my entree from the new menu arrived, a chipotle raspberry sauced Barramundi served with a jacket baked potato and steamed whole green beans, totally in a virgin state. The beautiful fish fillet was totally drowning, top and bottom in a good 1/3 cup of warmed raspberry jam WITH SEEDS. The jam was screaming to be strained, cut with an acid, and spiced up with some chipotle then DRIZZLED over the barramundi. The fact I scrapped off the top of the fish, then wiped the bottom of it to get it to an edible state was not lost on my server, who offered to replace it. Too late I 'd lost my appetite. Chef Wilson, TASTE the dish before you put it on the menu. That sauce was too sweet for crepes much less fish. And really iceberg lettuce salad blends are soooo McDonalds. You need food that lives up to the service.

Nice patio and tasty food gluten-free. A friend and I shared 8 small plates and they where all winners - 1) Baked Feta, 2) Thai Cream Scallops, 3) Greek Chicken Kabobs, 4) Pineapple Chicken Bleu Twigs Slivers, 5) Onion Ring Frittis, 6) Mini Ahi Taco Bowls, 7) Peri Peri Shrimp Twigs Slivers, 8) Caramelized Onion Risotto Cakes

Disappointing meal. Ribs were extremely dry and served with gluey mashed potatoes with brown mushy flavorless bits of asparagus and greasy sautéed peppers and onions. Pasta bowl was the same sautéed peppers and onion served as a side with the ribs, mixed in with a tomato sauce. didn't quite work. Service was very good so kudos to our waitress.

Not the best idea for employees to have their children at work. Its not safe for the children to be in and out of the kitchen and behind the bar. The food was good but not the most relaxing evening for a customer.

We must have caught them on a so so night. Service was inattentive and the entrees were inconsistent. While the hot rock is cool in concept, it lacks value. We'll have to try again.

Their specialty is a hot rock served at 650 degrees F where you grill your choice of sliced meat at your table. A very unique dining experience. The wine and beer menu was nothing special. The atmosphere was better than I expected for a hotel restaurant.
