This is a really fun bar, dark and dungeon like with lots of cool furniture and "stuff" to allow your eyes to wander. We arrive at 9:00 and it was pretty slow but by the time we left at 11:00, the place started to jump! To clarify to others, this is a bar, it's where you drink and meet people and talk, or not. The drinks are all 100% top flight where new school meets old school. They serve a lot of classic "unforgettables" but often with their own twist with a tincture of this or an extract of that. Creativity is not lacking here. They don't serve food but you can order in from a local restaurant they have a relationship with. I forget what restaurant it is because we didn't have any food, just some cocktails. If you like your cocktails, The Doggery is a must visit establishment. I look forward to my next visit!

Easily the best Bar in Rochester. It's a cosey, safe and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is very knowledgable about their drinks and what it takes to be an interactive bartender/server. They support local beers/liquor and encourage you to give them a chance! The Doggery will always be my go-to bar in Rochester. 5 stars!!

Went last weekend for drinks with friends. The weirdest part was the location! Its like a dungeon! And the actual door that leads to the bar felt like I am going into a storeroom. Anyway, the place had a strange vibe to it. Ordered 'Philadelphia collin' and it was nothing great. Also tasted a beer (forgot the name) and it was okay. I am still confused if this place has just drinks!? We were not offered any food menu, I was expecting appetizer menu at least!? Not sure if I would visit again.

Drinks are great, but watch out for Logan. Who the hell dresses up as a Leprechaun in the middle of September??? He kept throwing gold coins at me!!! Sure they turned out to be chocolate wrapped in gold colored foil, but still, I could have lost an eye. If I had wanted someone in a costume to pelt me with candy, I'd have gone to Craig's List to find a "working girl". Other than than, my drinks were artfully made and reasonably priced, service was also very attentive. So 5 stars in spite of the angry Leprechaun....

Great for a unique bar experience. Don't plan on getting a domestic beer!!! Drinks are very expensive but well crafted.

Awesome atmosphere for a couple of drinks. Quiet enough to be able to hold conversations with friends. Not stuffy or overbearing. Would definitely recommend!

I must have hit this place on an off night. The dark foreboding atmosphere took away from the vibe that I expected to find. I walked in and walked out, and I rarely do that.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could!! I love this bar! The ambiance is a bit quirky, but works. It's hidden like a speakeasy and is very relaxing inside. The Philadelphia Collins is my favorite drink, like, ever. It's made with Death's Door gin, basil, lemon, agave nectar, bittercude bolivar and soda. The next best is the Green Bastard, which is made with Cognac, chai, lime, cinnamon, green chartreuse and rosemary. The service is friendly. It's fantastic 6/5!!

Unprofessional staff. I simply asked for an espresso (I've ordered it before) and was brought a shot of cream colored, cold something. I explained that I was driving and will not drink ANY alcohol so I asked if it had alcohol in it and the server said "it's debatable, maybe only a little though". Told him I didn't want it and he replied that that's the closest to espresso that I can get "you're in a bar so expect a drink with alcohol" TLDR: servers try to push alcohol on designated drivers.

In any other city, this place would probably get 4 stars, but this is a GREAT addition to the Rochester bar scene! The drinks are delicious and the servers will discuss them (in great detail) if you are unfamiliar w/ 1 (or more) ingredients. It's hard to come by a bar like this with such creative drinks, especially in a town like Rochester. The atmosphere is cool (not dumpy!) and they have decent specials at happy hour. What more could you want?

"Everyone's really friendly... I like this place" says my beautiful GF. I 100% agree. If you are ever stuck in Rochester (I'm looking at you Mayo people) come here! Drinks only, though..

Perfect speakeasy, transported from modern-day Rochester back to prohibition times. If you want a delicious drink, try the pisco sour!

Transport yourself back to the time of prohibition when the underground speakeasy catered to the decadent needs of the upper class that still wanted to wet their whistles. With the finest selection of spirits, bitters, and showmanship on the part of the bartenders. Phil was fantastic. My fiance isn't much of a drinker so when I asked that oh-so cliche question that usually irritates bartenders "What do you have that doesn't taste like alcohol?" he was more than happy to assist in order a Steve French (if I remember correctly). It was lemon infused gin, with several other ingredients and even as an individual that doesn't appreciate the flavor of gin I have to say that it was quite delicious. I ordered a Mai-Tai, and before the judgement begins, the Mai-Tai's they serve here are made with 151, infused rum, and several different flavors including real crushed mint with a mint garnish. It was... probably one of the best "fruity" drinks that I have ever had. One of the folks sitting down the bar from us ordered an old fashioned and my jealousy kicked in. I asked tons of questions on it and he actually made just enough for me to sample his old fashioned... omg. Just omg is the only way you can describe this drink! The flavors of the spirits, the bitters, the orange peel, it all combined to make one of the sweetest and smoothest old fashions I have ever had. After getting a taste of that I finally had to have a whiskey sour, but before you think that's a plain drink, this was no normal whiskey sour. This was grand daddy whiskey, with cherry bitters, orange peel, a vanilla infused cherry, and made frothy with an egg white. Absolutely one of the best whiskey sours I have ever had. Through all of this Phil and I bantered back and forth, and his professional and fun demeanor totally made our experience. He made all of his drinks in front of us, let us sample a few things, and all in all is the biggest reason that I am giving this 5 stars. The Doggery is that must stop place that you've been by but have never seen. Absolutely one of the best in Rochester.

The cool, underground atmosphere is perfect for sipping these delicious, artfully-prepared drinks. It has a feeling of refinement without pomposity . The people there are always great and the bartenders are good at what they do. A+++

Wow , what a gem underground in Rochester. Great staff and friendly service . The cocktails are unbeatable , and the prices are very reasonable. But the best attribute is the prohibition underground atmosphere with music and decor that makes this place feel as if you are in another era. They will soon be serving small bites I heard! We'll be back soon!

Best bar in town to hang out and relax in the sofas. Nice interiors and tasty but pricey cocktails. No annoying servers coming every 10 mins to bug you. It is easy to miss the entrance as there is no sign on the door leading into the bar. Opens only at 5 pm.

Neat hidden little joint underground that you hers about by word of mouth. Large whiskey and scotch list as well as 4-5 microbrew on tap. Wine, gin, and rum list. Very low key comfortable atmosphere. Please do not go here if you aren't a local. And if you must please don't be "that" person, because you do stand out, and it's pretty annoying. That being said, bartenders know their stuff for the most part and drinks are well made and prepared. Bummer no cigar lounge or it would be a 5 star.

This was hands-down the best bar I have ever been to. The bartender, Mike, was very welcoming and makes some amazing drinks. He really knows what he is doing and is amazing to watch in action. I drive out of the way just to come to this bar and have his drinks!

Very cool place to hang out and get delicious drinks. The atmosphere is wonderful and the music was great. Seating is very comfortable with actual furniture or suspension bar stools. Could use a little larger beer selection but I was very impressed for my first time and will definitely return.

If you are looking for a cool vibe, low lighting, inventive cocktails, and diverse if minimal beer list, check this place out. Don't expect food though - a takeout menu is provided with the drinks list, but it's quite basic and (judging by the comments of the person sitting next to me who ordered a pizza) of "meh" quality.
