Can apologies awesome place to go. The service is always excellent they're always willing and happy to serve. I do not think that there sushi is as good as it's the Ichy Tokyo's fit the hibachi tables are better that Osaka.

Best tasting hibachi restaurant in Rochester, hands down, if you get Tony. Only problem is the inconsistency between chefs. But the lobster sauce makes it worth it. If you get Tony though, even better...:) if Tony was the only chef it would be 5 stars.

Where do I start? Ambiance: dated. Very bright lights, they could work on that. Staff: I was told by the waiter that I eat too much... What??? Seriously, both the waiter who took my order and the one who brought me my food told me I are too much for a person my size (I am tiny)!!! I didn't ask.... Food: I ended up ordering sashimi because everything else looked really greasy. Also, they don't have edamame. And they were not willing to steam my gyosas. I won't be going back.

Tried it once, never again After hearing a few friends tell me how great it was, I decided to check it out. A poor excuse good hibachi. The cooked food wasn't terrible but a bit oily. The lobster sauce tastes like mayo. I love sushi and ordered a roll and some sashimi. My order was screwed up and I was brought the wrong kinds of fish so I asked that they bring me what I ordered. After a sort of snide look from the waiter he came back with what appeared to be one of the salmon fillets (for cooking hibachi) cut into three peices, served it, and called it sashimi. I eat a LOT of sushi, and this was not sushi grade fish, nor was it cut as sashimi should be. If they were out of sushi grade salmon I should have been told that. It was not safe to eat and I can not believe I was served that. I would recommend Osaka as a great alternative. Comparable price and better food there.

Old-fashioned teppanyaki style. Immense amount of butter was applied to each dish. Left feeling sick and bloated. The chef was entertaining though. Lobster sauce was overrated. All I could taste was mayonnaise and the oil...

Very friendly staff. Nice atmosphere inside with lots of room. Very delicious rolls, sushi and lobster sauce. The lobster sauce on rice gave me shivers of pleasure that I usually only receive from fine cheese. Superb!!

I've visited two hibachi grills in my day and this is the better of the two. Cooks doing crazy tricks, they have delicious food, and sake (sometimes free if you play your cards right) being poured into your mouth while you wait for your food. Good stuff for sure.

This place started out great but seems to have gone down hill a bit. The time it took to get a table was ridiculous, and the food seemed too oily, sad. I will probably come back again, maybe I just picked a couple bad times.

Fantastic food and fantastic service! There were a couple times it was so much fun watching the chef make our food I forgot to eat what I already had in front of me.

We had dinner at Jenpachi one evening with friends and had a awesome time! I would STRONGLY suggest you make reservations at least a day in advanced. The food was excellent and it's very entertaining to watch them make the food at your table!!

So i happen to really like japanese steakhouses. If you are in Rochester. You have a choice of two: Jenpachi and Osaka. Jenpachi is independently owned. Osaka is a small chain. The food at both places is about the same in quality and flavor (I order steak and vegetables). I think the yum yum sauce might be a bit better at Jenpachi but I like the salads and soups better at Osaka. Osaka also serves noodles which Jenpachi does not, but Osaka might charge a bit more if you want rice. Jenpachi can get pretty busy at night and the atmosphere is rather bland. I have not had to wait at Osaka. Osaka is also more modern and newer so the ambiance there is a bit better. The prices are about the same, maybe Jenpachi is slightly cheaper.

So I went to Jenpachi expecting to have a nice birthday supper thinking mine would be half off because that is what they ALWAYS advertise. It turns out I was also supposed to have my picture taken and have the a birthday song sung to me... not only did NEITHER of those things happen but when it came time to pay the bill since I didn't tear the half off coupon out of the paper I didn't get the half off. What a joke!! I felt hurried being handed a box while I was only halfway through my meal and upset about the whole coupon deal. I had been once before and had a good experience but that said I will NOT be going back after this experience!!!

This place is easily one of my favorites. I am a regular here, so maybe I am treated special, but I have no idea to what service the other review is referring. I have been here about a dozen times and have never been rushed. I have even gone in without reservations. I would suggest a reservation on weekends as this place is amazing and it can get crowded then. Now to the food: the lobster sauce is to die for. That's all that needs to be said. Get the fried rice (not the steamed) for delicious flavor and to see the mad skills of the samurai chefs. Sushi is great. If it's your birthday, the owner will sing to you. Phenominal resteraunt

I've eaten here twice, as it is very expensive (nearly $70+ a couple if you order a couple of drinks, appetizer, etc.). It is fun, and the chefs are very talented and entertaining. The food is good, but nothing that you couldn't make at home if you don't mind heating up a frying pan to smoking hot. Not a place I would go to regularly because of the price, but a good treat for once in a while or a place to take family from out of town.

I love this place!!! Their food is to die for and the service is pretty good as well. Probably one of the best Japanese steak house, it's odd that so happens it's in Rochester, MN. If you go on your birthday, they're bring out an ice cream cake and take a photo for you... I would highly recommend this place to anyone!!!

The WORST meal we've had in a LONG time! Had spicy tuna roll. Rice was mushy instant rice, completely unseasoned. Tuna was room temperature. Gross! server and manager had never heard of edamame. Really? In a Japanese restaurant? Roll was delivered to the table at the same time as our miso (tasteless) and salad (iceberg lettuce was the highlight of the meal,) manager took my salad away before I had eaten even half of it. Anxious to clean off the table, but then we waited 10 minutes for our greasy, nasty entrees. How rude?!? I had the vegetable delight - lo mein noodles swimming in oil with tons of carrots, 1/2 of a mushroom, 3 slivers of snow pea and cabbage. It was served with equally greasy fried rice (instant mush rice and a few pea-sized pieces of chicken, no vegetables) that they recommended I dip in a mayonnaise-like sauce. The tablespoon of oil oozing out from under it wasnt enough fat! My husband's teriyaki chicken was less disgusting, but not by much. At least you could wipe off some of the oil with the napkin. Our check was $45 and change and i paid with $60. Waitress seemed annoyed that i wanted change, and after a VERY long wait brought me a $10 and 4 ones. She screwed herself out of $5. This place is a Japanese restaurant like McDonald's is a Chicago steakhouse. Really awful!

This food was decent. It didn't knock off my socks, but was tasty. A little pricey considering.

I love Hibachi places. And this place has exactly what you would expect - food cooked in front of you, sushi, full bar, etc. So, you get exactly what you think you will. But, there are two caveats: 1. You MUST have reservations. Don't even think about walking in. You can't bribe, beg or plead. They laugh at you (and it isn't a nice, friendly giggle). 2. Be prepared to be in and out in 30 minutes. You cannot have a leisurely dinner. They do it on purpose because there are so few tables and they make their money on turnover. It was my birthday, so I wanted cocktails and sushi and a dinner (expecting an hour or so). Someone at the table joked that their car was probably still warm since we were here for such a short time. They're downright pushy. they told me to move my cocktail to the bar and that i could finish my dinner there, as well. Really?!!? Bottom line: If you have to have Japanese, go ahead, but keep expectations of service low and expected to get pushed out the door.

Awesome! I hadnt been here in a long time, so I was looking forward to it when a friend suggested it for dinner. It is mighty delicious! There were three of us and werent looking for a big meal, after 8pm you can get two meals for $25 which includes salad and soup. They allowed us to split it three ways! Thank god because you get alot of food. We didnt need a reservation and Im sure you wouldnt need one either. I also got the california roll, which was also very good. Make sure you get lots of lobster sauce for the yummy rice!!

Every hibachi I've ever been to I've hated.. But not this one... I was content with my food and very happy with the service. I ordered the filet mignon entree. They didn't make it medium rare like I wanted but it was still pretty good. I also ordered a drink called "the panda". It was strawberry banana alcoholic drink of some sort and it was pleasantly good. It also came in this adorable panda ceramic cup. I kept wanting to ask I'd I could take it but didn't. When I left the little Asian lady chased me down to giver the cup.. Apparently I could keep it!! I was excited!! It is a bit pricey but the service I thought was so great I would come back again :)
