YOU GUYS NEED TO SHUT DOWN YOUR RESTAURANT. I FOUND A ROACH IN MY FRIED RICE! I am not one to complain about a little hair or a teeny tiny bug (I would lose my appetite but no complaints), but I have heard many complaints about this restaurant and how UNSANITARY it is. It's bad enough when I heard that my friend saw mice running through the restaurant when they were dining there. It's a SHAME because the food is OK. CLEAN UP OR SHUT DOWN. YOU GUYS ARE GROSS.

Probably the best looking Chinese restaurant in Rochester if you want to invite out of town friends to dinner. We typically order several dishes and share them family style. Portions are large and tasty. Our favorites include sa char beef, braised tofu (deep fried and braised with Chinese mushrooms), fried green beans with pork, sizzling seafood. An unique dish is their sea cucumber dish- it is reasonably tasty but can be stewed a bit longer as the meat is still rather chewy.

How can I tell I had another night out at a Chinese restaurant? I've got morning eyelid Chinese eyes! Lots of salt = lots of water to eliminate the thirst. Let me just preface that this is a head and shoulder above any other Chinese restaurant in Rochester BUT in comparison to my beloved Chinatown in Deadwood, SD, it doesn't even rank 1 star. Anyway, at the good ole Hunan Garden on 7th, they've got nice big fat egg rolls; each is equivalent to 3. The crab rangoons are big and fat too; each is equivalent to 2. While their Spicy Sour soup is tasty, their egg drop soup is fantastic! It really does look like egg drops and not the yellow slurry slop seen in standard Chinese buffets. You get so much food at this place, you'll come out of here plus another equivalent of yourself! The rice. Ugh. The rice. It was so processed (thick, chewy) in my mouth. I should mention their lamb dish. While it was coated in its brown sauce and looking very wrinkled and salt-ridden, it was surprisingly tasty and well-blended. I'd recommend booth seating arrangements (in fact, I didn't even notice if they had any). We were seated at tables and the seating arrangements were a bit close for comfort. In fact, there was an old couple sitting next to us (I could've straightened my leg and touched her knee) and this is the kind of old where they've become more interested in the people and conversations around them than in each other. We should have just invited them to sit with us! Anyway, the place didn't have much for ambiance. As soon as we were done eating, my husband and I pretty much wrapped it up so we could find peace and quiet along the river paths and use that as a way to catch up on our conversation.

Solid by most any standard. Americanized fare. Definitely a more rewarding meal than a chain restaurant.

Very pleased with the food here. Not PF Changs. Think hole in the wall but cleaner. Staying the week in Rochester and have been here twice already. Quite tasty.

Typical Chinese food that you would expect. Very nice, friendly staff & well kept clean dining room. We Started off with the Fried chicken wing appetizer + dipping sauces - very nice. For main dishes, Hubby had the Schezuan Pork which was surprisingly tasty and spiced well. I had the Hunan Lamb which was ok - the meat was a bit on the chewy side. The veggies in both dishes were fresh, crisp and flavorful.

Ok, so my Sister went a few days ago. She likes the food there. Until now. She had heard there were a few bad review at this place but she's never had any big problems. The owners aren't nice to their wait staff but the foods been fine. So she just had ordered and figured she would check out the reviews online while waiting. The roach in the rice just seemed so unbelievable. Just then her food came and she started eating. She thought she thought her rice move but chalked it up to paranoia after reading the bad review. Then all of a sudden, a friken cockroach crawled out of the rice and off her plate! She was so shocked she dumped her soup bowl and put it over the cockroach so she could show the owners. The owner came over and was shown the roach. She had the nerve to point to the plastic plant and say they have problems with them. The tables around her were watching with unbelief on their faces. Needless to say, the owner gave her the bill like it wasn't a big deal and my Sister left. NOT with any food. Even talking about it now upsets her stomach. Cockroaches carry a number of bacteria and viruses on their legs and abdomen. The Health dept is goung to be contacted Monday.

It was our first time at this restaurant and for appetizers we order the combo plate which came with chicken liver warped in bacon witch was not the best it also came with some chicken which was fabulous and also crab Rangoon Which was my favorite. Next we ordered the mandarin pork wich was not good because they added so many string beans and it had a metallic taste. I think this is an ok restaurant.

I ordered a lamb dish, the lamb was so tough, and chewy, I could not eat it. Told the waitress and she didn't do anything. Also told the cashier about the food, and only thing she would offer is a discount on a future purchase. My wife didn't like her food either it was mostly water chestnuts. Terrible food, poor service, will not be back. Went there to celebrate my wife's birthday, feel bad she had to go through the experience. This place has really gone down hill fast. For way better Chinese food go to China Star!.

I come here a lot to eat. I like both Hunan Garden and the Hunan on south Broadway, but I live closer to here and the atmosphere feels more pleasant. I like that they have spicy dishes that are actually spicy (the green bean and pork has a spicy option that's delicious), but they also have a lot of options to choose from - especially during dinner. They have great dinner deals, and are served in a way that makes family style eating a breeze. I've never had terrible staff while here, and the bill is what you'd expect - average for a Chinese place in Rochester. My personal favorite dish is their orange chicken, but their chicken and broccoli is also very good. They have an in house hot mustard that's also very delicious (and spicy). Their egg rolls and crab rangoons are probably the best in Rochester. I work in hospitality and I recommend this place to my guests very often when they ask for a good Chinese place. It never disappoints.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant. The crab Rangoon are great, and the Spicy Sour Soup is my go-to comfort food. They have a room in the back that is suitable for large groups. Highly recommend.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
