We love this place! We've been here many many times, and will go back many more to come! We go here a lot after my son's sporting events with the family. Everyone can find something they like with all the different options of meats, noodles, veggies, & sauces. You get rice and/or tortillas with your meal, we usually do both. At dinner the grill meals come with your choice of soup or salad (lunch time you pay extra for this option). They have recipe cards on the table you can follow, sauce recipes on the sign over the sauce station, or you can create your own combination! You can make your meal healthy by staying away from the "oil" sauces and loading up on veggies. How does it work? It is served buffet style. You grab your bowl(s) and load it up with meat, noodles & veggies and move onto the sauce sation. The sauce station has a big selection of all different types of sauces, and they are all labeled with burn ratings so you can make your meal as mild or as spicy as you can handle. Once you finish your sauce you then proceed to the grill line (this line gets pretty long during peak dining hours - but they tend to move people through pretty quickly). After your meal is cooked, you can garnish it with a few select toppings (wasabi, peanuts, coconut flakes, sunflower seeds, etc), and take it back to your table to pair it with your rice/tortilla and ENJOY! go back as many times as your belly can handle trying new combinations or sticking with your tried and true! The service has always been good as well! Friendly staff. Drinks are refilled in a timely manner, and the servers always ask about food allergies, appetizers & desserts. For the most part they are on top off keeping the buffet options well stocked (I've only been there once where this was lacking out of the many times we've been here). They are also very careful when it comes to food allergies. Why not 5 stars? the layout between the sauce station and the grill line is too crowded. They need to space it out a little bit more and have a better space to transition from sauce to grill. It would also be nice if they could make some sort of label for the sauces to denote which ones are gluten free, as my mom and sister both have gluten allergies (they do have this on their website and on the recipe cards, but it would be nice to see it at the station especially with their seasonal sauces that change).

Truly a place where everyone in the family can get what they want. We eat here every chance we can.

We always enjoy hu hot for lunch when their prices are reasonable. Dinner buffet gets a little spendy and lunch is better price but not cheap. Food is great, or as good as you make it with sauces.

Okay so I'm not really drawn to ANY restaurant with the name Mongolian in the title---I'm not sure if the word just is too close to Mongrel and Mongoloid for me but all of them sound derogatory and just don't appeal to me--similar to the word moist--but I better stick on track here. I went here a couple times and I am most unimpressed by the frozen shaved meat. You walk thru and get what you want similar to big bowl however it just seems like there are a ton of kids hanging out breathing all over the food and the meat if frozen and shaved not fresh---I don't like that....

Lots of ingredient and sauce choices, the green curry they recently added is a really nice addition. Very nice for being able to customize your own meal and easy to please a group by going since everyone can pick out something they like.

My son and I went to this restaurant due to his swim team dinner after a State meet. Because the restaurant was in the mall, I was not expecting too much out of it and thought it would like an over priced Chinese-Americana-Mongonian fusion affair. Furthermore I thought it would not be very kids friendly kind of a place especially we had the swim team with us (a party of 22). Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised how well it received by everyone as well as my picky Asian taste buds. There were plenty of choices as well as different spices/sauces to satisfy everyone including 'non-human' teenagers. I was especially/pleasantly surprised my son loved the Mongolian General Tso's fish combination... No, I cannot make that up. My dish - green fish curry with hot chili sauce and coconut flakes and crush peanuts... YUM! Here is cool thing - you can go up there as many times you want and try different dishes and spices/sauces. Yes, fish curry is an actual dish in my culture. But that is usually a soup style, not Mongolian style. Needless to say I think I have found my new favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, it is about 2-3 hours from my house...Maybe that is a good thing because I would be big as a house.

It's fine for what it is, most of the ingredients are frozen prior to serving and even after cooking, they have a funny taste from being frozen. If that doesn't bother you then give it a try. It is all you can eat and there is a guide to help you with sauces so you don't overexperiment and make something that tastes bad. My major complaint is that the plates are too hot to hold when they hand them to you. Not bad, not great, you're paying for the experience which is pretty fun.

I had no idea this place existed until last summer, but I'm glad we have been formally introduced! I've been to hibachi places before and have always enjoyed watching my food prepared in front of me. It doesn't hurt that its all you can eat either! I'm not a very picky eater, but when you can make your own dish its helpful if you are someone that is. I like to channel my inner Bobby Flay when I am picking out different flavor combinations. If you are a fan of Asian cuisine you almost can't go wrong eating here!

Man I miss HuHot! I really wish there was one in the Denver Metro area. This location is right inside Apache Mall just waiting to serve you lunch or dinner. I used to go there for lunch at least 3 times/ month. Healthy food and loads of it! Mongolian BBQ with a large selection of meats, pastas and veggies. The Sauces are the real key to your HuHot experience-- assemble your meal with a pre-planned recipe or go with a more free-form attack (that's how I like to roll!!) Then its off to the circular gill which always seems to frighten children and strike awe into the hungry who look on and drool in expectation. Now looking over their website I see that there is a Colorado Springs location!?! huhot.com/Locations/Colo… Whoa-- well I'll definitely have to get a group together the next time I'm down there to visit my family.

As Mongolian grills go, HuHot is small but mighty. There's just the right amount of selection for sauces, meat, veggies and noodles. The best part was at the end of the meal you don't smell like BBQ grill smoke! Amazing! We came for dinner. For the price of $12.99, including a salad/soup to start, you really can't go wrong. The Asian salad was especially appetizing. It included a dressing, veggies, toasted noodles and canned mandarin oranges. The toasted noodles is genius, since it substitutes for croutons perfectly. For first timers overwhelmed by the choice, I highly recommend following a few of their suggested recipes. The recipe contest is really quite smart, because it makes sure people experiment and come back often. Pro tip: Don't pile on ingredients in the order they've set out. Choose the meats you want, add 3/4 of the sauces, select the veggies/noodles, then add the remaining 1/4 sauces. This way the meat marinades while you decide whether adding pineapples will wreck your recipe and becomes tastier. I also love the Bangkok Curry sauce in combination with their pad thai noodles, which are pre-soaked and come out delicious. One of the grill chefs also put together sausage and eggs, which I thought was a neat spin on breakfast items. I would have really given a 4.5 star, but unfortunately the sauces don't come out as savoury as I've experienced at other Mongolian grill places. The spicy sauces are especially watered down. The meat is also not as tender and occasionally the cut is quite thick. Come here if you are starving and want your money's worth!

What is this? Poop? You know how poop smells, right? Well, imagine that smell but as a taste. That's kind of what eating here is like. It doesn't seem to matter how many ladles of sauce you use because when they're done cooking it, it still comes out a sticky pile of shit. And all the food they use is essentially the same quality as what you get from Subway, except you're paying twice as much for it. Don't bother. Just stick with your favorite Chinese restaurant.

love this place, cheap, fast and good. Great for the money, especially when we bring the kids. Great location at the mall, easy access, don't need a reservation and the food is always hot.

This place is GREAT! I love the concept of Mongolian BBQ in general. I am vegetarian so I enjoy the wide selection and high quality veggies. I also loved that they offer 3 types of noodles! Usually you just get one! Also, if you have allergies or food preferences (such as vegetarian) they will clean the grill and cook yours separately as to avoid cross contamination, which I greatly appreciate. The major drawback for me, which prevented it from being 5 stars, is that there is only one price - for an all you can eat buffet. I hate this because I can never eat more than one and I do not even get any meat and paying $13 for a vegetarian bowl of noodles that will leave me with no leftovers to take home is absolutely ridiculous! I definitely appreciate when you are at least offered the choice of a discounted rate for just one bowl as opposed to all you can eat. Also, you get a soup or salad with the meal. I went for the Asian salad (as opposed to garden) and it was way too sweet and I did not like it at all. My fiance went with egg drop soup and it was incredibly bland. Also, we ordered the wasabi bean appetizer and it was awful. No wasabi flavor at all. The wasabi-ranch dressing it was served with had more wasabi flavor than the beans themselves. Very disappointing. All in all it was good though and I am fan...so 4 stars it is.

Go here often when we want to eat "healthy". Easy to stick to veggies and lean meats, and leave off the carbs. Those not concerned LOVE the junk too, and the sauces are great. Make your own creation, and they'll cook it up. Best price at lunch. Same menu for supper, but more expensive. Hey Kara C.-- if you don't want your food mixed with others, ask for a purple "allergy" bowl, then they will keep it completely separate!

We were in the mall and decided we wanted chinese food. So, we dropped by and sat down before we realized what we had gotten ourselves into. For all the food, the great service, and the mongolian decor, I expected the price to be ridiculous. But, it wasn't! It was great! And for those of you who are inexperienced with mongolian bbq, they have little recipe cards. I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the vegetable selection was a little lacking, but only a little.

  • Paul M.

I thought this place was great. The key is to take the meat portions and smash them down to the bottom of the bowl. Keep smashing your ingredients into the bowl so you don't have to make a second trip back to the grill - unless you are really hungry.

oh. my. goodness. yum. Yes, I live in St. Paul, but a quick little day trip the other weekend seemed like a nice idea. My dad had tried an outpost of this place when he was in St. Louis on business, and he wanted to share the experience with me. This place blows away every other Mongolian BBQ I've been to, simply because it has more sauces and more crunchy things to sprinkle on top of the stir-fry you end up making. It is so very very yummy that I quickly forgot the sauce I sploshed into my shoe. There are also make-your-own smores as a dessert option; too bad we were both stuffed from our meals. Another time.

I try to eat here everytime i come down to Rochester. I wish they would open one in the cities. Its really the best mongolian grill i've been to. Also now they are serving an asian salad with the meal which i don't recall before (which is great for people on low or slow carb diets). My kids like this place too. They also have chicken fingers for finicky eaters and then the not so finicky ones can make a teriyaki noodle bowl. They are busy so don't try to go if you are in a hurry. Its a one and half to two hour affair because of how long the line is to get up and get your bowl of yumminess stir fried. My husband made his plate off of a recipe card and he liked it. I just scoop about 15 saucs ladles on my bowl of whatever looks good and its always a great mix of flavors. I agree with Terry L...the sauces are the key. I gave them four stars because the wait staff are always pretty bad. This last trip they told me that they were out of Sapporo. I said "well there is a bottle on the top of your bar"? The reply..."oh that shouldn't be there". I said "well how about X." He went back and suddenly shows up with a sapporo. It was nice of him and everything but we always seem to run into no drinks getting filled, no hussle to the table - wait around to order, etc.

Mongolian BBQ, you choose your own flavors, how could you go wrong. I'm a huge fan of BD's way of doing things, i.e. addding sauce when food is almost done, having dry spices to add to your bowl, and using oil on the grill. Here you add your sauces and oils directly to your bowl and it seems you need a lot more sauce to get your correct flavor. If you don't put enough oil based sauces etc in your bowl there is a lot of sticking on the grill. The cooks here let too much crossover between meals. Not a fan of sweet in my sauce, but the guy next to me was, hence I had sweet. I've also eaten at Hu Hot in Topeka KS, and this one was much nicer and cleaner.

My grown children love this place, but I just don't get the attraction. Customers assemble their own ingredients in a bowl that is really too small, then stand in line to get it cooked, then stand around while it is cooked, then back to the table to eat. Repeat two or three times to get a filling meal. I guess that is par for a Mongolian grill style restaurant. If I have to be involved in my own food preparation, I'd rather go to a buffet and select from food that is already cooked. Most of the time, I like to go to a restaurant because I enjoy being waited upon and treated like royalty. Standing next to a hot grill isn't my idea of relaxation.

Love it! I always have great service. If the food is bad..it's your own fault. great selection on the bar. I always get the same thing, but you can't mess with what works. I finally tried having the tortillas with my food along with the rice. Loved it...ready for it again. I didn't give it 5 stars because I only have one complaint. This is that when the food is on the grill, they mix too many things into other people's food. I don't like to pick other people's things from my own food. During this visit, they mixed half of my daughter's stuff into someone else's and then separated it out. I understand that they're trying to get a lot of people through, but they need to be a little more careful.

I really enjoy huhot. You are allowed to make a plate of whatever you like. Make it as heart-clogging or lean and mean as you want. Great choice of veggies and meat. I had a carb restriction when I was pregnant (which made me angry at pretty much every other restaurant) and found this place to be just what I was looking for. Great selection of sauces. I enjoyed the descriptions on the wall and the flip cards telling you what the sauces taste like. In a sense, this is a buffet. If you're too uppity to pick out your own food and wait in line to get it cooked, pass on this place. Compared to other buffets, this place isn't a sty-like free for all. The decor is tasteful. The best part is the waitstaff bring you your beverage, check on you a couple of times, and stay out of your hair and let you enjoy your meal

Hu Hot is by far the best mongolian grill I've ever eaten at. The choices for sauces are amazing. I highly recommend the peanut sauce. We went at noon on Saturday, and the line moved very fast. Go conquer your hunger at Hu Hot. Oh, and they serve Mountain Dew!

Great food if you know how to prepare your dish. This can't go wrong Mongolian eatery is basically a buffet. You prep your dish....they cook...you eat. However if you don't like the dish you prepared then you can easily go make another. By the time you get back to your table then your old one is gone. The lost of a perfect score is due to a security issue. Ladies don't your leave your purse at the table. Too close to exit doors. Cameras can be utilized to prevent such. Probably would be better if the cooks monitored food better. Some portions were cooked a little too long. Warning!!!! This place has some food that "Your tongue didn't notice" the kick until mostly done with food...lol

Ate at HuHot on a recent trip to the Mayo Clinic. Going later in the evening is great since there were not a lot of people in the restaurant. Great selection of veggies, meats/fish, and sauces. Loved the Asian Salad to start the meal. This was the second time I have eaten here and will come back again.

A pricey place ($12.50 + drinks) almost $15/person; the food items were not stocked the whole time we were there. The cooks have so many meals cooking at the same time and so close together on the grill that we more than half the time ended up with meat or ingredients from someone else's meal. They also do not clean the grill well after each meal, they over cook and dry the food. Over all it was ok but I will not go back.

I don't like this place. If I wanted to cook myself then I'd stay at home. I'd prefer if they had some preset combos which were unusual but everything is freeze dried and nothing us fresh and it's pricey

I was excited when HuHot started advertising it was coming to town. At dinner, you start with either soup or salad. I've not tried the soup yet because the Asian Salad is so tasty. Mixed greens with some crunchies and mandarin orange and an Asian dressing. Very tasty. The potsticker appetizer is very good. It can be alot, though, if you get an appetizer, so either go just for appetizers or get an appetizer on an occasion that you're very hungry. There are three parts to creating your entree. First the meat station. Several types of meat and fish are available. Then there are three types of noodles you can add. Next up is the veggie bar with a nice assortment of fresh veggies to add to your meat. Finally, there's the sauce bar. They do have some recipes for house sauces or you can mix your own. I like to add the garlic sauce (making sure I get a good scoop of the minced garlic, as well. And I add lime juice, as well. The rest of the sauce I create usually varies, but the garlic and lime are my staples. Once you've filled up your bowl, you bring it over to the grill. The cooks here are very friendly and it is really fun to watch them work. You also have your choice of steamed rice or wraps (tortilla style). I always get the rice but the wraps are a neat idea. If you have room after all of that, you can have dessert. There are several selections. I'm always too full but I am thinking I'll go some time with the aim of having an appetizer and a dessert. A very good addition to the food selections here in Rochester. I usually go once or twice a month. Great for people who are picky eaters because you can pick and choose what you want to eat.

I loved this place... Walk along the stations to add all the ingredients you want to have and customize ur own mongolian food... Great selection of meat, vegetarian options, vegetables and most importantly, sauces.... And if u dont like ur experiment, grab another bowl... Itz unlimited... And being a vegetarian, i liked it... As they have great selection for vegetarian options and they clean and enclose the grill for ur food... And that too nicely.. Great staff and the place is crowdy, but never cruched up.. Not too pricey... And itz always worth it! Hmm.. Am just too hungry writing abt it... Am getting back there for more of experiments... :-)

My hubby and I recently went on a much needed date, leaving the little munchkins with grandma, to head to the new eatery in Apache Mall - HuHot. Wow! What a find! It is so fun to come up with your own plate! If your hungry enough, your second plate usually tastes even better as you refine the mixture of food and sauce to your liking. I love their Thai Peanut Chicken!!! Man, was I stuffed! I couldn't believe it when the hubby went up for plate 3. It's so good, it's hard to stop eating so go with a big appetite! The waitress mentioned it was not uncommon for some of our big Norwegian locals to conquer HuHot by eating 6-7 plates! If you love them as much as I, don't forget to sign up for their HotClub so you can get the latest HuHot news and promotions.

I've been to chain Mongolian grills like this in the past, and what stood out about this one is the genuine care for sanitation and allergies. The vegetable/meat area was well maintained and very fresh (except the meat which is frozen, yey). It's kind of fun to experiment with new flavors and It looses points for not allowing carryout containers. I'm not passionate about it but I'd go back.

Best chain Mongolian I've tasted. Like others said too, clean and friendly waitstaff. Would definately go here again.

Not bad, but I had higher expectations. The selection of sauces is good and the meat selection is respectable. Unlike several other Mongolian BBQs I've tried, the meats and even some of the vegetables are frozen. This is understandable if they cannot turnover the food without it going bad. But a bit disappointing.

Excellent Mongolian food. All you can eat for only $12.95. You get to choose your own mix and they will cook it for you. Since there aren't too many Asian food around here, this is certainly one of the best.

We loved it! They ask you right up front if you have any allergies to food. Our son does have food dye allergies. The waitress took him to the buffet and showed him and me what he could and couldn't have. She gave him special bowls so the cooks would know to keep his food separate on the big grill. When he went back for seconds there had probably been 100 people go since us, and the cook remembered him and kept his food separate again. Excellent service and food. We will definitely be back. It was highly recommended from the locals also. Try it. You'll love it.

So we didn't know what to expect. As soon as we found out it was "all you can eat" we knew we had made a mistake. The place was packed. You grab a bowl and line up, pick your noodle, protein, veggies, sauce. Then you line up and wait for a bunch of people to cook it on a giant round flat top grill. It was interesting to see the cooks could keep it up with what belonged to who. But...it's kind of gross to watch too. You would have to see it. We each had one plate...all we wanted to eat and got a big ol' "all you can eat" check. Being "all you can eat", the quality was not great. Being buffet style and all cooked on one surface, it didn't feel clean. If someone has food allergies, NOT the place to eat! I can see why some people like it. But it was too chaotic and not tasty enough for us.
