Great portions and larger than normal egg rolls!!! Visiting from Colorado for a wedding and was famished after driving the last 700 mile leg of our journey. Most places were closed for the night and we found the China Star open late and busy. A good sign in the heart of the city. Fast Chinese!!! Very good value in take-out dining! I think that the locals like this place...my buddy sure does!!

Standard Chinese food place, good portions, quick service. Very middle of the road, not bad, but nothing special. You can't go wrong if looking for a quick fix. They accept cash only.

Great value for lunches. Building is a converted Bus Stop. Make sure you call ahead and remember they only accept cash - no credit cards. There is an ATM across the street.

China Star is a popular place for lunch, has fresh ingredients. Our favorite Chinese take out place besides Hunan Garden. I always order the same dish, broccoli chicken with fried rice or steamed rice. The chicken breast is thinly sliced, tender and the broccoli still crunchy and green. Great crab rangoons too. Their house fried mee fen (thin rice noodles) is spicy with curry powder, and shrimp with vegetables in a clear sauce are good too.

Cash or check only. They are very good about telling you about this when you order over the phone. Thank you. Average Chinese food takeout. Nothing really special. We don't carry cash or checks on us normally, so I doubt we'll be back. Just not worth the effort for average food that's a little pricey for what you get. We ordered: Hot and Sour Soup - 2/5 Tasted like beef stew. Was very strange. Wonton Soup - 3/5 Tons of huge wontons. The broth really needed more taste. Shrimp Lo Mein - 3/5 Average. Beef with Broccoli 4/5 Great dish. Fresh veggies, tasty sauce, great cuts of beef.

I was pretty unimpressed with the quality of food from China Star. We tried the beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, fried rice, and chicken noodle soup and chicken rice soup. The food was not very flavorful and though the portion sizes were huge, I wasn't so into eating large amounts of bland food. The soup was just disastrous - basically chicken broth with chunks of chicken and giant noodles dumped into the broth. Not at all mixed and the chicken and noodles had obviously not been cooked in the soup. Cash only.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
