The only reason I have not given them 5 stars is due to the restaurant setup (seating, decor, etc) since it was a bit tacky, but that's the only negative thing I can say about Baku. Went there on a friday night, found ourselves dining next to some sort of celebration, but the service was amazing. Food and drink served fast, two servers for the restaurant with a big party there, and they seemed to never miss a beat - I wish this service was found at all restaurants. Most parties there were speaking russian which I think gave a nice spin to the ambiance. Will definitely be coming back for more - I recommend trying it out!

I recommend trying the Traditional Russian Borscht, the Pirogi and the Chicken Breast Kabob. Satisfying, authentic food and attentive service.

Great little gem. Came for vodka but was pleasantly surprised by the warm and inviting staff and the phenomenal appetizers. Will definitely frequent this wonderfully cool place.

We were going to go here for a birthday dinner on Sunday night, and the restaurant was closed, contrary to its posted hours! Call ahead of time...

I am not sure if Ill be back. Went there on Friday night, expecting some live music or entertainment. Kinda of disappointed, when all there was old Russian pop music blasting. The place is small, there is a little bar area and a main room, with maybe 10-12 tables. Decor is minimal, but the tones are warm. There were us, a couple on what appeared to be their first and last date and a group of "older" folks who were celebrating someones 79th birthday. And that was it for Friday night, I am not sure how this place stays afloat. Now, the food. For appetizers we ordered olivie and chebureki. Olivie was good, and the chebureki were crunchy and pretty yummy. For the main course we ordered a plate of kebabs and fresh grilled walley. The kebabs were mediocre at best. The meat was tough and not very flavorful. However, what killed it for me was the "freshly grilled walleye"- it was a walleye allright - however it was deep fried and prepared somewhere offsite and probably microwaved for me. Yep, paid $18 or $19 for microwaved walleye. Service was good, but they weren't busy at all. I guess if you are really craving kebabs, this is not the place to go, but chebureki and olivie were decent.

First of all, this was my introduction to this cuisine. I had the Siberian Pelmeni, Diner Two had the homemade beef stroganof, and Diner Three had the salmon. The salmon looked awful and it wad served with fried mojo potatoes (full discloser: the diner liked it but she was our guest which makes me weiner how much was honest....but she did eat the while thing! ). The beef stroganof was good, but tasted an awful lot like cream cheese on beef. The Siberian pelmeni were tasty (unique flavor that I can't say I don't like, but can't exactly say I enjoyed). It felt like a lump of dough was sitting in my stomach with a bunch of butter after though...since it basically was. I am disappointed that there was not lived music when the other reviewer came. With the "house" alcohol sitting on the bar and the small dance floor I was thinking this would be a great place on a saturday night. Our service was great!

I was here in the form of a private affair in the afternoon after a funeral. We were told the dinner would be at Baku. I said you mean Buca, No Baku. I am always in awe how Russians dress up a table and the platters they serve the food on. Interesting how this place doesn't consider itself exclusively Russian, but eastern european. A lot of it has to do with the influence of the Caspian sea, and some of the dishes will have a look similar to the Caspian restaurant. There were salads and meats covering the table. An interesting variety. Oliviet, aka Russian potato salad, the finest shredded beets and carrots, I mean like hair strand, in a vinegrette dressing and a nice crunch to the carrots. A chicken salad in oil and vinegar mixed in with peppers. Meat and cheese filled individual jellos anyone? Liver pate, veggies, delicious rolls. All this before the main course of lamb shanks and rice, equally fantastic. I hope more people become aware of this place, as it's rather hidden around the corner from the tea house and some other establishments in the front of the strip mall, which just happens to be around the Willow Creek theater that I'd like to check out because they show retro movies, that would be fun to see on screen. I would make a special trip out here, and the setting is just as pleasant as the food.
