Davanni’s Pizza & Hot Hoagies

Reviews:
ok this update is morea bout the chain than the particular restaurant, but ive decided to bump up davannis to a 5. i spent a week in chicago, and ate lou malnatis and giordanos. i still think davannis is better. maybe my idea of deep dish wrong, maybe its the fact the davannis crust tastes like its almost deep fried, i dunno, but its that good. gooey cheese, great tasting/texture crust, ample ingridients. i have yet to find a better pizza anywhere. end of story.
So far, this is my favorite pizza in MN. Ordered delivery on a Sunday night and the guy that took the order on the phone was very nice, and delivery was fast, under a half hour. Pizza quality is my favorite. The crust is just the right amount of doughy and greasy, not too much, not too little. The quality of topping was great; we had the chicken florentine pizza. A crazy good hot meatball hoagie to split and two of us had leftovers for another day. It was a tad pricier than I would have liked (large pie, large hoagie, chips and a drink for $40 includes tip), but the quality of food and service will keep me coming back for much more!
Greasy pizza, but the kids are happy. Not the best pizza or salad I've ever had. I prefer their hoagies. Conveniently located, decent service, plenty of parking. Pizza is at about a 5 out of 10.

I'm very impressed by the desserts that I purchased. Better than most I've tasted in any state or country, truly. I used an Amazon Local voucher. Everything was fresh and the ganache was just the right texture and thickness. Even though what I bought was mostly chocolate, it was not too sweet. I highly recommend. I'm going to try the Anoka location for their savory menu next. What I bought: Wild Thing, Chocolate Mint, Flourless Chocolate and Nirvana
This place is kind of hidden in a strip mall. I went to take a gander since i bought a groupon deal for it. I got the Concerto and Nirvana dessert. They were both really good, but the Nirvana was my fave! The added nuts surrounding the dessert added a nice crunch and gave it some added texture. I would go back to get the Nirvana dessert again and maybe try something new too :)
As of 2015, the Plymouth location is closed. Very sorry to lose the best bakery in the west metro.

My first visit was for lunch the other day with coworkers. I had the shrimp and veggie tempura bento box and it was excellent. All the bento boxes come with miso, salad, 4 pieces of California roll sushi, rice, and 2 mini egg rolls, all for just over $10. I'm not someone that gets sold just on quantity, everything was also very good. Everyone else in my group was happy with their food. Service was solid. I'll definitely come back.
If we are not careful my wife and I might become "regulars" having come here 3 times in 2 weeks. Consistently good food and friendly, fast service. More sushi lovers in Plymouth, Wayzata area should give this place a shot! Tonight was the Mayflower Roll chef special. Absolutely delicious. Happy Hour 2 for 1 house wine an added bonus.
The service here is excellent and everything was cooked to perfection. Both the hibachi and the regular food is delicious and they have a wonderful lunch menu. I will be back here often.

The Original Pancake House

1415 County Rd 101
Plymouth, 55447
Reviews:
Not giving this place a 4 or 5 star review simply because there was too many people ahead of you and you had to wait, isn't fair, in my humble opinion. This is why you call ahead, folks. I've eaten here twice. Both times the service, for a breakfast joint, was superb. Both times the food was piping hot and my coffee never emptied. The pancakes are, honestly, the best I've ever had. The bacon is actual slabs. The omelette is the largest masterpiece of eggs and other goodies I've seen. I would highly recommend this restaurant. If your life is so hectic that 45 min is too long of a wait, then either call ahead or go during the week.
With so many good independent places to find breakfast in the Minneapolis area, I've avoided the Original Pancake House. But on a Saturday morning trip to Home Depot, I found myself in need of some food after having only had a cup of coffee earlier. Yelp didn't reveal many breakfast places other than the Original Pancake, so we set our GPS to take us there. Upon arriving I was surprised that it wasn't overcrowded with an hour long wait. We waited perhaps ten minutes until the very friendly hostess led us to our booth. Both my partner and I ordered omelettes with pancakes. After a few gulps of coffee our order arrived. Wow, these are nothing like Perkins omelettes! They are so large and so fluffy they were like nothing I had ever eaten. And the pancakes had a wonderful flavor that I haven't had since I discovered Elmer's Restaurant in Palm Springs (check them out if you ever come across one on the West coast). So, I'm now an Original Pancake House convert! Bring on a tall stack!
I've been here a few times and the wait is usually pretty long. When I went last on Easter, there was no wait at all which was so surprising! I'm guessing that people like to make their reservations for Easter, and since The Original Pancake House doesn't take reservations this is why they didn't have a wait. I've only ordered pancakes here and they are always really good and everything that I expected! I love the buttermilk and banana pancake (but the pineapple syrup that comes with the banana pancake is too sweet for me, so I just use regular maple). The food comes out pretty fast, too. It's fresh, tasty and a big portion. I would definitely recommend trying this place if you love pancakes and don't mind waiting a little longer to get seated!

Pricey little sandwiches, but oh so worth it. It is as if you went to the farmers market and made just one sandwich. Lettuce is crisp, meats are clean and not frozen. Soup is always fresh. When you order it to-go, they include all the needs (napkin, spoon, fork, and crackers) This is an excellent place to order box lunches for conferences.
Fresh, Delicious food and great service! My husband and I stopped in on our way from the airport to our hotel. I was quickly greeted by the owner and his son. They make the turkey for their sandwiches fresh everyday and they make fresh soups everyday. I had the turkey grilled sandwich with yellow lentil soup and my husband had the Reuben with clam chowder. Everything was delicious! You must try this place if you're looking for a deli!!
Don't buy the Yelp $10-for-$15 Voucher!! We bought this as we walked into the restaurant but the owner(!!) would not honor it. The place was crowded and he easily could have honored the discount and dealt with Yelp later. They also got our order wrong at first. So why the 3 stars? The food is exceptional!! Everything we had was great and tasted like home. I recommend the food as is and I look forward to the customer service improving soon.

Famous Daves Bar-B-Que

11308 State Hwy 55
Plymouth, 55441
Reviews:
This is the tasty part of a holiday tradition for me. Good thing the food is consistently good or the holidays might suck. For the last 4 years, the day after thanksgiving (Friday) my wife and daughter and I venture out in the evening for the seasonal Christmas tree hunt. We have been going to the same tree lot on Hwy 55 for over 10 years now (that will be another review). For the last four years now, after the tree is secured we cross the highway to this little Famous Daves that has been on highway 55, right at the south end of Medicine Lake, for as long as I can remember. Unlike most of the suburban chains this is a small little place that seats about 40 and is really more of a "pick-up" place, for food not people. As far as chains go and ribs for that matter Famous Daves is a pleasant surprise. This is MN and a long way from the famous rib joints of the south and central states. The ribs are consistent here though and they have very good sauces and sides. They have carried these items through the chain concept very well, better than most. Where I love the Uptown location and the Sunday Brunch (which you must try if you haven't already) this smaller location on 55 is great. The small eating area and overall decor really give you the local vibe, doesn't feel like a burban chain. This trip I strayed from the usual and tried the meat combo with the baby back ribs and chicken wings. I have never tried the wings before and these things ROCKED! The wings were grilled (duhh) and the sauce was fantastic. Along with that was a fantastic (pay attention Buffalo Wild Wings) blue cheese sauce. Home made with some tasty herbs added made this a home run. Love the corn bread muffin and mac-and-cheese as well. A year from now I'll update this. Good thing is that I am pretty sure I'll be feeling the same way next year. Thank god for the Holiday season. KT
I always can count on my neihborhood FD for some quick and tasty grub. Lunch specials go until 5, so I can fill up for under $10 and the reciept comes with a survey that'll earn you a free Kahlua sunday for bothering to take it. SO worth it! (Note: listen to the entire question before answering or they start over). Family time splurges on occassion call for one of their platter deals, which, while they aren't much of a "deal" per se, always satisfy. Service is friendly. Sometimes a little slow when they get slammed, but that's to be expected. Calling ahead eliminates that wee annoyance and their phone number is right on their main sign.....you can call from the parking lot if you're lazy like that (hehe...I'm so guilty). They have some outdoor seating and fairly good AC in the two-sided indoor dining room. Signing up for their club online gets you a couple nice deals. For a fast-food joint I give it a 5, it would get a 4 as anything more. I hope they keep it up, and I'm sure they will....it's been a long time since they took over the old-school DQ (hence the barn shape). If it weren't for so many free kahlua brownie sundays, I may be a little sad about not having an ice cream shop so close anymore.
OK BBQ Ordered for 20 people, one check, take out Huge order, well over $400. Picked up, ask for help carrying it out, they brought it to the door, I carried 4 trips to car, no help. Was told that one of the bags had all the condiments, once I got back to work, there was NO sauce, ketchup, salt, Pepper, nothing. We all ate dry bbq Disappointment for the price paid! Small things like help carrying huge order out and actually providing condiments go along way. Staff was nice, Apparently not to bright or untrained
