Not a top spot in Northfield but choices are limited. I had the bacon ranch chicken wrap that was ok. Don't pay the extra $2.00 for the sweet fries, they showed up and literally there were 10 fries on the plate. Service was average and it took a little while, it was a Sunday afternoon so they weren't that busy. Could have been 3 stars but it was also not very clean.

Northfield is well known outside of Northfield for being quaint and friendly. Froggy Bottoms is in a neat, historic building overlooking the Cannon River. There is a great (super steep) spiral staircase and they just opened up a very nice outside area. Sounds nice, huh? Well, the food is utterly lackluster. I've sampled many things on the menu including burgers, salads, fish n chips and chicken fingers. Nothing has been terrible, but nothing has been that great either. The service is good and accommodating. That being said, I can't, in good concience, recommend anything to eat there. I recommend sticking with a vodka- red bull and eating free popcorn. You really can't go wrong with that.

This is such a neat little place, would be considered a "Diners, Drive-ins, Dives" kind of place because it seems like kind of a hole, but it's great! You can sit overlooking the river, wait staff is almost always great (we are there almost once a week!), and 2-for-1s are a great perk! Menu is limited, but everything we've had is good, especially the quesadillas and wild rice soup. Fun place with lots of character!

Meh. The college students take this place over a few times a week. Often on thursdays. Still even when its full of drunk and disorderly 21 year olds it still good food and drink.

What's going on? New management? Blonde waitress constantly leaning back on bar checking her phone and then with back to patrons eating...constantly. Witnessed a guy who couldn't get service outside come in and ask for help...no, you've got to go out and find outside staff. Seriously!?!

They have 2-4-1's almost all day! Their food is delicious but a little spendy for me so usually it's just a round of drinks. They have real beer too, not all of the "lite" stuff you usually see. The servers have always been tentative and it has a neat atmosphere. I would recommend this place for locals and out-of-towners!

We had a great meal there! Highly recommend the burgers. The waitress was friendly and helpful. It was a great place to take a break from our drive.

Ignore most of the other reviews. If you want to get some decent pub food, good selection/variety of taps, and river views in a historic building in Northfields (and avoid anti Semites according to reviews of a certain other place??) stop in here. There is old and new, indoor old school bar, outdoor patio seating, free popcorn, and good food. The burgers were well made - 1/2 pound chewy bun, lots of varieties. They had 2 for 1 taps at 4PM on a Saturday. The fries were awesome - real potato and fried crispy. Plus - ODell's IPA. There is a free parking lot outside. Dog friendly as well. Can't go wrong at a place called Froggy Bottoms Lily Padio, haha

The Froggy Bottoms River Pub is a must when visiting Northfield! My husband and I stumbled upon this bar as we were walking on the path of the Cannon River. The back entrance is tucked away near the look out of the river. Spring has just sprung so the larger outdoor patio was not yet open--but they did have a place for dining close to the river edge that was open. We decided to belly up at the bar and watch the Masters. On a Sunday afternoon, it was a steady run of families, couples, and college students coming in and out. It was the perfect type of busy for the bartender and the couple of people on staff. When we sat at the bar, we were promptly greeted by this cheerful wonderful bartender--she was SO sweet and enthusiastic. Ya know when you go to a bar and you can just tell that the Bartender is annoyed or doesn't want to be there? Oh no, not at Froggy Bottoms. This lady is EXACTLY what every type of bar should have. She made great conversation and kept her guests laughing. She also said thank you to the chef every time an order came through the window. She was a breath of fresh air that just made our experience that mucgh more enjoyable. The only reason that I am not giving this bar a full 5 stars is because I wasn't a huge fun of the appetizers. My husband ordered the Sweet Chili "Rib" its. The sauce tastes great--a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. However, there was a weird taste that the ribs itself left in my mouth. I'm not sure if it had something to do with the bones in the ribs but it sorta made me lose my appetite. A couple of hours later, we ordered the Frogg's Frickles, which are beer battered pick spears. I would HIGHLY recommend this as an appetizer--they were simple but tasted great. Based on my own experience and some of the other reviews on Yelp, I would recommend they take another look at their menu and maybe change it up a little!

I was in town for the Vintage Band Festival this past weekend and someone suggested going here. I enjoyed the place. The ambiance was good, the wait staff was very friendly, and the food was good enough. Two of my friends had the pulled pork sandwich daily special. It looked fantastic and they both enjoyed it a lot. My other friend had a burger and wished he had gotten the pulled pork, saying the burger was actually quite dry. I had the BLT with avocado. It came cut in half. The first half was good, although there really wasn't a lot of bacon, and it actually had too much avocado that seemed to overpower the sandwich. The second half, however, only had tomato and lettuce, with the smallest piece of bacon and no avocado. For the amount of time it took for the food to come out, I wish the cook had taken the time to spread the sandwich ingredients evenly. Biting into an avocado BLT with no bacon or avocado is a real let down. With that said, I'd go again, but I'd be sure to open the sandwich first before eating.

Bummer. Waifish bartender was condescending, clientele pretentious. Very Not Northfield. Ick.

Went there looking for a good burger. Was very disappointed. Had to send the first one back, it was over cooked and cold, with none of the cheese I ordered. Got the second one and again, it was over cooked, no seasoning and flavorless. Will not go back there.

Went there after golfing at Willingers. Had two for one on the drinks and the food was excellent. Will stop again when in Northfield. Met the owner as she was a lot of fun. Have a creamy balls and take a bite out of life.

Kind of surprised to read the negative reviews. The food here was pretty good. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my friend's burger was cooked very well. The fries were decent too. I did go after the lunch rush. Good local beer selection and the service was good. Next time I'm in Northfield, I will return.

Had a great time. Found a table outside looking over the river. Service was great, never had to really wait for beer. I really liked hanging out there for some beverages.

So I haven't eaten here since 2008, but I really don't remember the food being bad. In fact, I remember liking it enough to go back a number of times. As for the atmosphere, I'm a Carl and I still thought it was fine. I mean how much can you hate a bar with $6 pitchers? I'm glad they've reopened, or so I hear. My girlfriend's an Ole and she was heartbroken when they had to close.

Cute little spot just off the river. Matt and I grabbed 2 spots at the bar just as the right time. The bar began to fill up pretty quickly. (It was Parent's week, Class of '94 reunion and a wedding party stopped by within 5 minutes of each other.) The patio was not very popular due to the weather but people were forced out there due to how crowded it was becoming. Popular beers are on tap and the Onion Rings were beer battered. Pretty tasty. They have "seat yourself" for the dining room area - which caused confusion for the servers and diners alike. Never found the free popcorn. The spiral staircase is neat but took everyone at least 5 minutes to go up or down! Bar is close to both colleges so seems as if it would be popular with the college students. Was a nice spot to grab a drink on a Saturday afternoon.

Don't go here if you can help it. Sure, there may be times when free popcorn sounds really, really good. Fight the urge, and head to the contented cow. Or better yet go to the Tavern, where they have gardettos and peanuts If in fact you do decide to go there, the bartender may or may not punch you in the face and toss you down that charming spiral stair case. Then, the pony-tailed owner may or may not come to you, at your house, and threaten to sue (you). Speaking hypothetically, of course.

Closed due to fall 2010 flooding? Unremarkable food. Cool spiral staircase, not sure how many drunks have fallen down it. Mostly a college hangout.

Best wings in Nofo. The fries are good too.

The staff was friendly and efficient. However, for the prices they charge I would not expect to be served a beer in a plastic cup and plastic utensils. Even the appetizer we ordered came on a plastic disposable plate. The machos were interesting since they were spiced with cinnamon, but I don't think I would order them again. I wasn't impressed with this place.

Mostly went here for the Thursday night karaoke while attending college in N-field. Had some confrontations with drunk, aggressive townies hitting on my friends. Always way too crowded. If there's a fire, you'll probably have to dive into the Cannon. However, also went here on a few dates. The burgers are quite good, and they serve Fat Tire. They're friendly when it's not busy - just don't come by on Thursday nights if drunk college kids aren't your thing.
