I don't think this place smells of bar rot! I like it! The cheese curds are cheesy. Try them

Immediate smell of bar rot. Never have carpet n a high volume bar! Food is pretty good but just as I was warned, the service is ANYTHING but fast and friendly. And I never post a bad review on one experience. Tried this place four times. Yesterday I was there right when it opened and it was like the entire staff just showed up and did zero prep. Service took way way way too long for only a handful of customers. When I finally got someone to cash me out, the bartender had to get cash drawers from the office. That was 50 minutes after opening. We all waited on checks. It's not really the servers fault. The management should step up and learn what is being said in the community and make some changes. Just go ask patrons at other bars what they think of chatters. It's never positive. But they are pretty much the only game in town that stays open until 2am.

My parents are snowbirds & RV over the winter months. They made their way back into the Midwest & stopped off to see us for a few days. My Mom's sister, (my Aunt) lives up in Elk River, so I made mention that we could meet up with her for an All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry that I knew of up by her. My Mom called her and a plan was made for this past Friday. I plugged in the address into the GPS and we all made the trek up to Chatter's. The GPS got us there with no issues, other than the traffic being horrible. Chatter's has a large parking lot & we found a spot with no problem. When you walk in, you're greeted by a host at her desk. My Aunt & Uncle were waiting for us by the entrance & we were promptly seated at a large table. We were able to get a highchair for Pheona & a kids menu with crayons. Our server inquired about beverages and noted that Happy Hour was going on till 6. All adult libations were a dollar off. I looked into the table tent they had listing the beer offered. I settled in on Batch 19. It labeled itself as a Pre-Prohibition Lager. I wasn't sure what that meant, but it sparked enough curiosity out of me to order one. I was asked if I wanted a tall or short. I went with a short. It came out in a pint glass. When everyone got the beverage they ordered, my mother ordered up 3 Happy Hour priced appetizers. A Chicken Quesadilla, Cheese Curds, & Mac & Cheese Bites. Everything offered is charged at 6 dollars. During our wait, we noticed a barrel by our table filled with Salted in the Shell Peanuts. These are complimentary. I scooped up several servings for our table to enjoy. When our appetizers were delivered, we put in our order for dinner. In all, it ended up being 4 AYCE Fish Fry's, a Ruben (my Mom), & a Cuban (my Aunt). The All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry comes with your choice of Coleslaw or French Fries. Alyssa ordered Fries, so I ordered Coleslaw. It comes standard with Hand Battered Cod. In waiting for our suppers, we munched on the apps my mother had ordered. The Cheese Curds were passed around. I took a few. Could be the best. This coming from a Wisconsin Boy. Soft innards. Lightly Beer Battered. No blow outs. Perfection. The Mac & Cheese bites were great. A little heavy on the breading. Insides were full of noodles, cheese, and bacon. Lovely taste. The sauce that came with it was bland. It did nothing for them. The Chicken Quesadilla was tasty. The Salsa that came with it was fresh & house made. We didn't have to wait that long for dinners to arrive. Mine was a little comical in a way. Two fillets of battered Fish set diagonal on each other. A soup cup full of Coleslaw, and a small plastic ramekin of Tartar Sauce. I think more empty plate was showing, rather than food. There was an empty void where the Fries should be. But they don't give you BOTH Fries & Slaw. You only get one or the other. Humbug! I had to ask for Lemon, as for that wasn't provided. That came in a soup cup full of them. They were the perfect sized wedge. The Batter on the Fish had ground pepper flakes mixed into it, which made it visually appetizing. It had the perfect golden brown crust. The Tartar Sauce was house made. Creamy & Dilly. Complemented the Fish outstandingly. The Fish could stand up on it's own, though. Hot & steamy inside. Light & crusty outside. This is the best Fish I've had in a long time. The French Fries Alyssa & my Aunt gave me to try were nothing short of perfect. Fresh cut, skins on. A little salt. Wonderful! The Slaw left a bit to be desired. It was your basic creamy Coleslaw. With so much made in house, this should be something they should do as well. It came from a bag & instructions were followed to the T. Reorders were had by everyone ordering the Fish Fry. It comes out in two piece increments. No straying from that. Even if you only want one, you get two. Every time a reorder came, it was fresh from the fryer. Cutting in, steam poured out of the fillet. That is the only thing you can reorder here. No reorders on Fries or Slaw. Kara, our server, was good at her job. But really, everyone working there helped each other out. We had just about everyone stopping by our table asking how we were doing and if we needed anything. The establishment itself comes across as a "cowboy" bar. The servers wear shirts highlighting cowboy sayings. The décor is a Western theme. The ceiling is brand new pressed tin. I thought everything inside looked nice. There is a patio with seating. Walking out there, it's more of a smokers haven. Lots of ashtrays. There is a gas fireplace in the middle of the patio. The All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry costs $11.00. Without both Fries & Slaw coming with it, this is just a tad high. I would have been happy to pay a bit more, like $11.50-$11.99, for the option to have both. Putting that aside, this is a great Fish Fry. The Fries, the Fish, and the service was top notch. Thanks, Chatters!

Horrible. Waitress was more concerned about taking care of other employee s baby, toddler than taking care of patrons. If the owner of this establishment saw what was going on, he would not be happy. How about taking care of the paying customers? I won't go back as I seemed like a distraction or problem rather than a customer.

Overpriced compared to other places in the area, food is good but for the price not so much. Had the pulled pork sandwich which was pretty good but for the price not really that great.

i've been to chatters several times in the past, and have enjoyed myself, however, after the way we were treated the last time we were there i have no intention of returning! the woman who claimed to own the bar was incredibly rude and definitely ruined my experience there!!

Weeeellll. Somewhat noisy. Probably about 3000 tvs playing football. Service was fine. However food took 30-40 minutes to arrive, and there were plenty of empty tables, meaning not busy. Chicken bacon ranch wrap was somewhat dry. Stir fry was surprisingly tasteless considered the plethora of things in the dish. All you can eat fish was more batter than fish. Terrible.

This place had a good atmosphere! The server was very nice. The prices were a bit higher then I expected. $4.75 or a tap beer....$4.50 for a bottle of beer. Nothing on the menu was under $11. My boyfriend got the Chatter Burger and I got the all you can eat beer battered cod with fries. The food was very good....just pricy for what you get.

I had read a number of poor reviews and was skeptical. However, the service was pretty good the food was great. I really appreciated them helping me out and letting me have a pup in the patio. My pup also appreciated the burger. Thanks I'll be stopping again on my way home from work.

Decent food. I had the Cowboy Nachos. They had good flavor but somewhat cold. The bartenders and servers were great. The only negative was while playing pull tabs there was a questionable character that wanted to buy out the box and the pull tab seller allowed the woman to go to her car to buy out the box? I guess the woman is a bartender at Wild Bills in Maple Grove. She seemed like she was tweeking?

Have been to Chatters a few times and the service has been fine. The place definitely has a bad odor. The carpeted area needed vacuumed and replaced. The bar is always a little noisy, but there was a game on each time we went. The prices are a little higher than the area and I wouldn't mind paying a little more if the atmosphere matched the meal. The chef does a great job of rotating the menu and I love that they add some unique items to set them apart. I had the Beer Belly sandwich on this trip and would not recommend. It's a couple of pieces of pork belly seared and then topped with bacon jam and spicy beer mustard and served on a roll. The meat was good (you need to be ok with a little fat) but the bacon jam ruined it for me. Server was very good, prompt and our meal came out quick. Good experience overall. I did see a sign on the door saying they were going to close on a Monday for a complete staff cleaning day. Maybe it will help, they always get busy with all the holiday shoppers out in that area. I'll update this review after my next visit.

I've only had lunch here, but it was good. I tried the Reuben, and fetuccini alfredo. A-ok. they have a private party room and a patio. Our service was good and the kid was welcomed with crayons and a kids menu. It seems like a decent neighborhood bar & grill.

Went for the all you can eat Friday night fish fry. The food and the service were good enough, but when we got our bill we found out that they charged .50 for each small cup of tartar sauce, which was never mentioned. It was an unexpected cost on top of an already overpriced meal. I don't think we'll be back

Came in with my husband to watch the Packer-Niner game. It was loud but not unexpected for a Saturday night. I got the Chicken teriyaki sandwich with homemade onion rings. It was fabulous, even though it was a bit more expensive than I would normally pay. The expense was worth it and I would recommend visiting.
