Went in and bought what I thought was $10-$11 worth of donuts. Turned out to be $4! $4!!!! So I bought another dozen. The guy behind the counter was super helpful and generous. The donuts were delicious. What's not to like?

Come here if you're willing to sacrifice some customer service in search for delicious made-from-scratch donuts. Worth it! Highly recommend the blueberry old fashioned donut and the apple filled donut. Nothing is labeled so if you don't know donuts you'll have to guess...take my advice and don't ask too many questions... Have cash because they don't take credit -- and by cash, I mean $1's and $5's... I will be back, and more prepared next time.

With reading these reviews I had really high expectations. The donuts are good but not blow-your-mind awesome. The classics are there but also some creative ones too. About $1 per donut. Slightly above grocery donuts (like Cub). Impressed that the next day most were still soft. I bought 12 this time but maybe next time only 6; and If Conveniently in the are.

I travel all over the state and this is my favorite bakery. Donuts are great and the cookies are outstanding. Always warm and fresh. Love the caramel chip cookies.

I think I just ate the best donuts that ever existed. They were cooked perfectly and were absolutely tasty. Each bite resulted in a little bit of happiness. The atmosphere was... not as good as the donuts. The shop wasn't designed for customers to hang around for hours loading up on delightful sweetness. The service was... acceptable, but nothing compared to the donuts. You're dealing directly with the maker of the donuts. The price.. at a dollar each, is the bargain of the century. If you want great donuts, this is the place to go to. Everything else is a compromise.

Thanks to Yelp I discovered this place as I was looking for treats for my employees. What a refreshing place! The donuts are incredible. I also picked up a few cookies for the drive to work, ah, yummm! A new favorite for me for sure. Be sure to bring cash though, no credit cards accepted.

The night started with a nice tofu dinner with Tatum, Sofia, Yein, and Thinh at Peninsula Malaysian Cuisine (Amazing Sizzling Tofu Dish). After dinner, Sofy suggested we get Donuts from Glam Doll Donuts, which was right across the street from Peninsula. Sofy got us all pumped up for Glam Dolls. I was ready to use up my cheat day to splurge on some delicious donuts! As we walked out of Peninsula, we slowly came to realization that Glam Doll appeared to be closed!! It was only 9:30ish on a Tuesday night!!! What kind of donut place closes that early on a beautiful day! We could not believe it. We all witness Sofy break out on a tantrum screaming for donuts...She started running around and knocking on Glam Doll Donut's front door, begging them to give her some donuts. Unfortunately, she had no success. We began to think of alternatives!! What did we do? We broke out our Android smartphones (Not iPhones), and frantically searched on yelp for open donut shops that are "open now" via the Yelp App! A quick search result for donut shops "open now" around the Twin Cities only came back with one result: Valley Pastries. 17 reviews: 5 stars! This place must be good, we all thought! Yelp said their hours were 5AM-11PM. We were like SWEET!! Sofy can finally get her fix of donuts!!! I told Sofy to call them to ensure they were open. The phone went to their voice recording and said their hours were 5 to 11. We quickly rushed back to my car by cutting through Peninsula and almost running over Josh (Our Peninsula Waiter). Thinh and I was so excited about donuts that we both hit our shins against the car and let out an explicit series of comments. Minutes later, I rushed us over to Valley Pastries so we could get there before they closed. 15 minutes later, Google Maps told us to Valley Pastries was a few hundred feet away. As we slowly approached the parking lot, our hopes began to fade....We let out a loud gasp as it seemed the lights were off in Valley Pastries. I parked right up in its front door, only to see that the hours posted was 5AM - 11AM!!!!!!!! We were like WHAT THE #@!%!!!!!! Yelp lied!!! Their Voicerecording Lied!!! We could not believe it. We went through such excruciating set of events to only be shot down by the incorrect reporting of hours posted. However, this time, we could not control Sofy's outlash! We let Sofy be Sofy. We could only watch her be disappointed as I try and comfort her telling her we can get donuts from Cub Foods. By that point, all she wanted to do was go home and sulk in her bed. We decided to call it a night. The drive back was quite bleak to say the least. We were all in such shock, how there could be no donut shops open at 9PM in Minnesota. It may be because we are all from California, where our dilemma would be to decide which of the 100s of donut shops still open we wanted to go to. At times, I can't tell what is worse: Having to select something to select from a multitude of donut shops or having no selection at all... Unfortunately, I had to give this place 1 star. I wish I didn't have to, but I just had to as this ruined our night free from pharmacy school.

tried this placed based on the reviews. there isn't a place in sight of my sis in laws or work except for this place so what the hell? there is a private parking lot and it was busy when i got there. got a dozen donuts for work and as i was waiting for the lady to box up my assortment i noticed a lady in the back spreading frosting on donuts with her hand. not really my style. the cashiers were very friendly.

Very solid donuts, taste like they should and remind me of what donuts tasted like when I was 7 years old. Definitely better and different than any grocery or big chain store.

In a country of Krispy Kreme, dunkin, southern maid, shipleys and so on, it's nice to see small business keeping up the pace. Be sure to come early and bring cash - no checks or cards of any kind. There are several gas stations with ATMs nearby. The donuts were fresh, sweet and tasty; I just wish I would've made it there sooner to see all they had to offer!

I adore this place and the woman who has owned it for nearly 50 years. Very traditional bakery done with lots of love. Extremely reasonable prices and the cake donuts are fantastic.

This might be the best donut in Minnesota. I haven't been to the store but have had their glazed goodness a few times as they were catered in at our office in Minnetonka. Why can't they be closer to St Paul?!?! I'll probably make the trek occasionally anyway. Phenom.

This is the best mom and pop place for donuts! They are not to far from where live and the maple cin rolls are just like the ones used to have growing up in my hometown. I love this place and the owners/workers there are always so friendly and ask about my little boy when he doesn't come in with me.

Met the owner Judy. She has been doing this for 25 years. Great donuts! Best glaze I have had.

Tried this place today with the hubs based on his desire to enjoy a homemade doughnut before a long bike ride. I conducted a quick, online search and came upon this locally owned pastry shop. Reviews were glowing, so once I confirmed via phone call they were open, we were on our way. The shop is small, but what they lack in store size they make up for ten-fold in quality. My favorite doughnut has always been a chocolate Bismarck. I've sampled them at many a location, and have experienced the gamut from downright deliciousness to deep-fried disasters. Without a doubt, Valley Pastries takes the cake (sorry, couldn't resist) as the best I've had. The doughnut itself was light with no hint of oil and covered with the right amount of chocolate frosting you could tell was homemade. But the shining star was the cream filling. Everything about it was tremendous - from the light, smooth consistency to the outstanding flavor. It had just a hint of vanilla and complemented the doughnut perfectly. Quite different from all others I've ever had and truly a stand-out. The service is friendly and attentive, and I'm fairly certain the owner, who was mentioned in a previous reviewer's post, was one of the ladies behind the counter during our visit today. They sell coffee, too (noticed the sign in their window) and readily pop a few napkins in your bag without asking (a pleasant surprise I discovered once in the car), knowing that most won't make it too far out of the parking lot without at least sampling their purchase. The hubs bought a half-dozen raised doughnuts total, including mine, along with one filled with blueberry, one filled with apple, a cinnamon twist, a chocolate-covered doughnut and a toasted coconut long john. I haven't tried any of the others, but if they are as fabulous as the Bismarck, they won't last long. I also noticed they had a variety of cookies in the other display case. We were on a mission for doughnuts, so didn't consider any of them during our visit, but based on the quality of the doughnuts, chances are strong these are a home run as well. Bottom line - if you love a delicious, homemade doughnut, don't miss this place. This is where you want to go. Just be prepared that once you do, you won't want to go anywhere else.

Yummo! This might be the cutest little donut shop ever. They are unassuming in a little strip mall but they are always sufficiently stocked in the AM. I have gone in on the weekends just for a few donuts and also grabbed a few dozen for the office during our breakfast Fridays. My favorite donut is the glazed (as others have mentioned) but my husband really likes their filled donuts. Note - They only take cash so bring your money ready.

My kids loved the donut holes. The donut holes were the size of an average donut! Very old school place. There were a bunch of people there.

I want to like this place because it's close to my home, but there have been too many instances when the donuts I've received aren't totally cooked inside (raw dough), and a few times I've seen the ladies in the back doing some fairly unsanitary things...I'll just leave it at that. The cookies are good. Good mom & pop place...but I've had better donuts.

A small old-style bakery owned by the nicest mom and pop ever.

A true classic - real 'old-school bakery. The products are fresh and from scratch; the donut holes are delicious. A great place to pick-up a bag and bring into your co-workers.

Very good donuts. The staff was very sweet to my little girl, gave her her donut in a seperate bag to make her feel special. It is next door to a tattoo parlor, so maybe you could get a sweet tattoo while you are picking up breakfast.
