Zanzibar Cafe is new to Uptown. It's located in the old Sawatdee Express place next to Stella's. I've seen the sign up for a while but I was happy to find out they've finally opened for business! Went for lunch on a Friday around noon. I was pleasantly surprised! First off, the aromas coming from this restaurant are to die for! The heavy spice scent is warm and inviting. There is a gyro spit is rotating near the place where you order and left my mouth watering! The menu is full of African, Indian, Asian fusion dishes that all sounded delicious it was hard for me to decide! I ended up going with the Chicken Sukkar dish. The menu had an obscure description of it saying "Chicken with a Korean sauce and African spices." I wasn't quite sure what this meant so I asked the cook who happily obliged to answer all my questions. He explained it as curry spices over a bed of basmati rice. Of course, he explained it a lot better than I could ever do justice but all in all, it sounded right up my alley. The food is cooked right out in the open and it was fun watching the cook make my food. He took great care to ensure the spice level was right and even used a spice grinder for freshness! I was thoroughly impressed with the time he spent making the dish perfect. All the while, he was chatting with me and asking questions which made it seem that much more inviting. I truly hope this place thrives in the future. I can't wait to go back!!

We stopped in on a Thursday night around 8 and this place was packed! Only had to wait 2-3 minutes to be seated despite the amount of people. The place was busy but not loud, and decorated but not tacky. I had the Northern Walleye, it was great! We will be returning for sure.

As far as hotel bars go, this one is tops. The bartender was nice and attentive, and the server was helpful (I switched tables a few times because it was freezing in the front area of the hotel.) I had the Basil's salad - goat cheese and fresh greens made this the perfect late-night dinner. The beer cheese soup was also quite delicious. My gimlet of vodka and grapefruit juice/syrup was just right. Not too sweet, not too strong - just right. I would definitely return here if I was staying in town for more days. The ambiance is just right for the weary traveler, and the music, albeit a bit elevator-y was a good fit. It was also great that everyone who works in the hotel is friendly with one another and they all check in with each other towards the end of the evening.

The drive thru crew is one of the fastest I have ever seen. There was a line of About 8 cars so I decided to go inside for faster service. I watched the people handling the drive through. They have people pull ahead and wait to keep the flow going. I barely had any wait for special order fish When I came out to my car the last vehicle was leaving the drive through. I give it five stars because everything was hot and fresh and for fast food it would be what u would expect I base my stars on how the place measures up to the type of place it is. Cant expect to compare food quality stars at a fast food to a place like a Kincaids or the Lexington

A lovely new local place for yummy Somali snacks and drinks! We tried the samboosa, tandoori chicken chapaati, and Somali tea. All delicious! The masala and meat mix in the samboosa and the tenderness and flavor of the tandoori chicken were refreshingly tasty; and the nicely balanced ginger-cardamom flavor of the hot Somali tea, with a bit of froth and cinnamon on the top, hit just the right spot. We will definitely visit this local spot again, and are excited to try the other authentic Somali flavors!

Had the Coconut Dark Chocolate Mocha for the first time on Easter at the recommendation of Lidia at the Plymouth MN Vicksburg location. This was wonderful, she said it tasted like a mounds candy bar and she was spot on. I would definitely get this drink again.
