I came here with a group, looking to feel pimp at a VIP table. Well being pimp comes with a price, of course, and at first I was hesitant about investing in this service (~$150 for a bottle of their least expensive vodka). But when I reflect on the night, I see images of dancing and laughing with friends, enjoying premium cocktails and service, and sipping on some leathery smoky fine ass bourbon. Well damn was it worth it. The joint was empty at 10pm, but we were able to chat and get comfy in our lovely surroundings without screaming over a crowd. I love the ambiance - rich colors, bold wallpaper, natural wood and brick, and sparkling chandeliers. I also love their parking lot that's just $5 for the night!! Our service was attentive and I never recall having to wait much for anything. The dance floor was a little small, but I got to grind on my friends, so that's cool. I wasn't sure if my boyfriend would be feeling up to dancing his heart out, but let's just say I literally had to drag him out of there.

This review is for the happy hour. We went about 5PM on a Friday right when they opened, so we were one of a handful there. Which is a shame - the bar staff was great, and they have a great happy hour! It runs 5-7. Overall, drinks were reasonable for the area and trendy remodel of the space. Definitely check it out!

Love this place! I went here for drinks and appetizers with my sister and we were not disappointed. For my drink I had the pomegranate martini. It had pom juice, lime juice and vodka. It was the perfect blend of sweet and sour for me. For the appetizers we had the Bianca flatbread with prosciutto, gorgonzola, fig and balsamic and also the burrata salad which had fresh mozzarella, tomato and and avocados. I highly recommend both of them! The overall ambiance of The Tangiers is really nice; its cozy and nicely decorated. Very classic looking. Overall the food and drinks were very good but the reason why we enjoyed it so much was the wonderful service from the cutie LAUREN. Never have we had better service, especially given that it's a bar! It's very hard to find servers who have such a wonderful personality and take the time to get to know you and love their job (while also enhancing your overall experience so much)!!! We were more than pleased with the service and can't say enough nice things about our wonderful experience. If you have the opportunity, definitely request Lauren, you won't be disappointed!

Went here with my boyfriend on a Wednesday night for appetizers and drinks before heading to a concert at First Avenue. I had purchased a LivingSocial deal for 2 appetizers and 4 drinks, and that seemed like a great way to start a date night before seeing one of our favorite bands. When we arrived, it was not at all busy. Maybe two gentlemen seated at the bar, and a couple other tables, no large parties, nothing crazy going on, it wasn't a weekend or anything. We waited at the host stand for a good 10 minutes before the bartender came over and sat us down with some menus and said a server would be with us shortly. He sat us at regular table, even all of the cool red leather booths (except for one) were unoccupied. I would have asked to sit at a booth had he asked us for our preferences, but he didn't. I would have tried to say something upon seating us at one of the other tables, but he already walked away. We waited even longer for a server than we waited to be seated initially. When she finally arrived, we asked to be relocated to one of the red booths, and we ordered everything right away (including our second drinks), be cause we could clearly see service was going to be an issue. We had the crab cakes and the hummus plate. My boyfriend thought the hummus plate was a little bland, but I thought it was okay. He had beer, but I had a French 75 martini, and it was delicious. The food and the drinks were really great, as was the decor/atmosphere. Questionable service, would only recommend if you were doing it with the LivingSocial or Groupon type deal.

Ambiance is nice. Food is good but not great. Gets really crowded especially after 10 pm on weekends.

One of my go to places to hang out and grab a drink. The food is amazing, not at all what u would necessarily expect and made from scratch. I am in LOVE with the basil pesto hummus please never remove it from the menu. The drinks are always stiff and Amir always has a smile for you when u walk in. If u want a nice, upscale and classy hang out that is open to everyone then this is ur place.

While clubs were my thing when I first turned 21, I haven't set foot in one in over 5 years...until recently. Why? 1. Because it was my sister's bachelorette party! 2. Because, why not?! Tangiers is a favorite spot of my sister's and now I know why. So many pro's & a few cons! PRO'S -The place is huge, offers booths for private events/bottle service, and even boasts an upstairs. - Service is decent. we didn't eat both times i was there, but the bartenders were on point serving up strong drinks, and quickly. -Music is killer here. the dj mixed some awesome tunes together that had everyone dancing the night away. -Atmosphere feels very european, comfortable and trendy! CON'S -Recently, I was sober [maid of honor duties!!] and the place smelled of spray tan and vomit. it was MUCH different this time, but still fun! -Packed to the gills with people, especially after midnight! This place is the perfect place to chill with girlfriends, meet new people or simply dance the night away :)

I was really excited to go here and enjoy a fun night out with girlfriends. Unfortunately, it turned very sour quick. A very drunk dude attempted to put something in my drink. It was a powdery substance. Im extremely disappointed and also concerned for other women who may go here to have a good time. PLEASE WATCH YOUR DRINKS, LADIES.

Good food but poor service. Place was understaffed--looks like this is a regular problem. Until/unless management staffs properly, or finds staff that don't treat patrons like an intrusion, this place will earn no more than two stars despite very good food.

I don't know what is going on with The Tangiers but I have been trying to get a hold of them for a whole week now to book VIP/bottle service for my birthday. I've filled out reservation forms online TWICE & no one had gotten back to me! Do they even check their emails??!! Also, I've been blowing up their phone as well as left them about 3 messages even still, NO ONE has called me back! This is ridiculous & it really disappoints me because I had a fantastic first time experience there for a friends birthday a few months back. I really wish their service was a lot better as I had higher expectations than this. Very, very disappointed! I don't even want to give them my service anymore!

Great spot! The interior is fashioned like a speakeasy with comfortable seating and beautiful ambience. The food was amazing. Full of flavor and though there is a limited menu it's all good! The waitstaff can come across a little snooty but one they are helping you they are wonderful. The location is a little hard to find if you don't know where you're going, but I recommend checking it out!

Tangiers is more than a couple of months old and has been very popular with downtown club goers. My friend and fellow yelper Kelly S. ordered bottle service which helped our group get in to the club without a cover charge. True to its name the decor is very Moroccan with lavish chandeliers, colorful drapes and antique-y plush furniture. The lounge has very cozy feel but the music and sound design gives a typical nightclub ambience. The sound is never too loud to have a conversation, which is good thing. The service was very attentive and friendly. It was a Halloween themed night so everyone was dressed in costumes. Everyone there on that night seemed to have a great time drinking, dancing and making new friends.

I had my birthday party here last night, and it was great! The staff was all very friendly and when we made a reservation for 9 o'clock they let us stay until around 1030 when normally people have to leave at 10 when the bottle service in VIP started. The drinks are reasonably priced especially for how strong the bartenders make them. By 11 o'clock it was extremely crowded and the dance floor was packed. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to have a night out on the town and dance the night away. It is very loud and dark though, so if you're not looking for that and still want to come here I would just come earlier and leave when the DJ goes on at 10.

Bobby Flay at a Nation of Islam Convention. Justin Bieber at a Slayer Concert. Victoria Beckham at Jenny Craig Meeting Kim Kardashian shopping at Goodwill. That's how I felt being at Tangiers. I felt out of place and I didn't belong. Lol. I was only in so I could see my friends and because Dita had me at gun point. Hehehe not literally. However, it sounded good, right? The place was beautiful. The decor was classy and beautiful. Lotsa beautiful young things half my age in there wearing dresses that were skin tight or neck line went down to the belly button. Sexy? Apparently. I'd say put those shit away. That's why someone invented clothes. There were also men with age that were happily enjoying the scenery and some that I wanted to backhand because they couldn't shut up bragging about themselves. Luckily, our group was fun. Mo was a gracious host and we got a nice table with bottle service where a bunch of us trying to dry out a Kettle One bottle. The music was loud and again, it was hard to talk. I definitely didn't need my hearing aid here. It was fun for the two hours we were there. Call me old lady because I am. This may be dandy, but not my thing. Glad I went though so now I knew what it was all about and next time I could say with conviction, no thanks. I'll pop popcorn for Mo next time somewhere quiet and play Engelbert Humperdinck. I got a speeding ticket on my way home. I wish I had worn that dress with the v neck down to my bazoonga. I could turn around, flip my hair, and said..."Hello Officer.." Wink wink. Yeah, that's never gonna happen. Just give me my damn ticket.

Went here for a happy hour after work (6-ish?) and it was D-E-A-D dead. Had fish taco app which was meh. I think probably a beer to drink, so no comment on the drinks. Seems like it could be a cool place with the couches and stuff, I just wish I could have experienced it a bit busier.

the friends and i are trying to be fancy now that we are old bleghh, so we thought we'd give tangiers a try on a wednesday night. this place ooozes class and swankk, dim lighting and alot of red accents made the place feel very romantic. they have live jazz on wed and happy hour was from 9-11pm, apps and drinks ranged from $3-$6 and was pretty decent!! the pork belly sliders and tacos are a little decieving though since we thought we would be getting a slice of pork not pulled pork. crabcake was nom, and the best was the shrimp pesto flatbread super good. the liqour was stronggg, got a vodka sour, was all vodka no sour, not complaining tho since im getting my liquors worth. our server was super awesome and accomodating. can't wait to come back here on a weekend!!

What a beautiful atmosphere. Love it here. Only small plates. Don't come here if you are looking for a big meal. Love the place, great service. Atmosphere is the best!

Wow, i really had fun here last night. Its a minimalist lounge, with lots of open space, large comfortable 3/4 circle couches and chaise lounges. A large main bar, and small bar in the back. Its another 2 club in one place and they seem to pull it off pretty well. I loved the the place for cocktails and small plates. The Gatsby cocktail was perfect, Makers Mark, Simple Syrup and mint leaves. I generally don't like cocktails, because with all the mixologists out there now, they are just to complicated and have to many flavors. I like this drink because I like Makers Mark, and this drink is just that with a faint hint of mint. The small plates were also pretty good for a place that really is much more cocktail lounge/club than restaurant. Obviously, its named Tangiers, because it has a Moroccan theme, and the small plate menu is simple North African food. We tried the Hummus plate, which was solid and came with two types of Hummus, pita crackers, and sliced cucumbers, celery and carrots. The shrimp pesto flatbread was also pretty tasty. But for me, the clear winner was the prosciutto wrapped dates, with a pineapple and jalapeño sauce, that was just a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy and went well together. I could have eaten these little buggers all night. I was really digging the vibe here. There was good mood lighting, and a few Moroccan lanterns and other small flares of Tangiers, but not so much to make it feel like a theme bar. The music was also great, lots of swing and mostly all pre-1950. Loud enough that you can hear, but not too loud that you can't have a normal conversation with your date. Then, this change at exactly 10:00 p.m. Right on the dot, they turned over to a DJ who turned the decibels up three fold, and started playing dance music. We were told we that our lounge area is for bottle service only now. We could stay a little bit longer and finish our drinks, but we would have to leave as soon as soon as a party requested bottle service. This rubbed me the wrong way because there were 8 lounge areas that could accommodate bottle service, and when our waitress gave us the heave-ho, only one other vip area was being used. I think the better course of action would have been to wait until the need to as us to move actually arose. We were only planning on sticking around to finish our cocktails and left before there was even one additional party to request bottle service. Also, my second cocktail, although it was the exact same drink as the first was made completely different. I ordered my second drink about 10 minutes before the switch over from lounge to club and it was not a cocktail. This time, my Gatsby was nothing more than 5 ounces of Makers Mark and one spring of mint, over ice. This is fine, if I wanted a Makers over ice, but I really enjoyed the first cocktail and was expecting to get another of the same. I think sometimes bartenders think that all that their customers want in a drink is to get drunk as quickly as possible, and that is not always the case. We did not stick around much past the switch over to club, but we were there for about 15 minutes of it, and the DJ was playing some good tunes; 80s-90s remixes for the 5 or so songs we stuck around for. There is a small dance floor near the back bar, that filled up as soon as the club music started. One good point also is that they have an excellent happy hour. I am not sure of the hours, but we arrived at about 9 and the cocktails and martinis were all $6 and our plates were all half off. They were priced between $8-!5, on the menu, and were about half that on our bill. All and all, our bill was $49.00 for 2 cocktails, 2 martinis, and 3 small plates. I thought this was a pretty good value for the location, and quality of the food and drink. Also, it is very rare to have any kind of HH special on a Saturday night, particularly downtown.

Place blows, service sucks, drinks are overpriced and made by incompetent bar staff. Decent food. Didn't say reservation went to certain hour then we're kicked out unless we bought bottle service for $600.

Appalling service, and a terrible experience. I went to The Tangiers on a Wednesday night to use a Livingsocial voucher for four drinks and two appetizers. Upon walking in at around 9:15 PM, the place was completely deserted. A few people were hanging out at the bar, but no one at the host stand, nothing. I figured it was a seat yourself kind of place, so I sat down. After 10 minutes or so, some woman (server?) started walking around putting napkins down on the tables. She said hi to us, and that was all. Didn't offer menus or offer to take our order, nothing! We finally had to call her over and ask for service, at which point we were told that their kitchen is completely closed, and that we had to leave the seats we were in by 10 PM for some reservation, a sign for which she didn't put down until 20 minutes after we had been sitting there. Ended up ordering one drink, even though they wouldn't take our voucher. It took forever to arrive, and then once finished, even though it was after 10 PM when they were supposedly kicking us out, we waited at least 15 more minutes and had to actually walk up to the server to pay for the drink so we could leave. The drink, supposedly a pomegranate mojito, was *awful*. Their website states (in an extremely sexist way, I might add): "We do not take reservations for dinner or happy hour for parties of 4 or under please just walk in and a hostess will take care of you." That obviously didn't happen. It also states that: "Kitchen is open 5:00pm-11:00pm M,W,TH." They claimed they were having some special event, which was quite funny as even when we left, it remained completely empty. I can absolutely not recommend this place for any purpose. The interior was actually nice, and if they had their act together service-wise, it could have provided a cozy, romantic spot, were it not for the incredibly obnoxious music with thumping bass constantly blasting so that even though the place was empty, we could still barely hear each other. Once again: AVOID!

We came here on the grand opening night. Let me tell ya, first night was crazy fun packed! Thank goodness we got bottle service or else getting a drink at the bar would have taken us a loooooong time. Understaffed. I really like the dance floor though. I am not a great dancer but I love to dance, so I would definitely come here again:) The women bathroom is pretty cool. I heard they have happy hour during the weekdays, so I will have to check that out soon. Great location in the warehouse district. Street parking or ramp parking.

My friend and I were here to redeem a voucher for 4 drinks and 2 appetizers. We entered the place and it was a pretty swanky place, but it was early so I didn't feel too out of place in my jeans and a polo shirt. We sat at the bar and we both ordered a Moscow Mule. I have never tried one and it was pretty tasty, ginger vodka and ginger beer with some whiskey. We ordered a shrimp and pesto flatbread and crab cakes for our food. Both were amazing! The crab cakes and flat breads were small, but way good! For my second drink I had the Tangiers martini, which was Grey Goose and Saint Germaine and Champagne. Very tasty. Our bartender was super cool and I saw their happy hour, which seemed super good. Overall, a super fun place for happy hour. No TVs though. Boo.

Chalk full of swank and glam, Tangiers makes me want to toss on a fur stole and channel my inner Daisy Buchanan. A girlfriend took me here for late night happy hour on a Wednesday to celebrate my pre-birthday (yes, that is a thing). Upon entering, I was immediately infatuated by the lavish decor and live jazz music. She and I sat at the bar, ordered a series of recommended cocktails from the bartender, and soaked in the ambiance over good conversation. The music was a perfect complement to the feel without being too loud to talk over. The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star review was because the appetizers we ordered were ho-hum. That being said, I didn't expect the food to be the focal point, and the drinks and decor exceeded my expectations. I want them to throw a Gatsby party so my dreams can come true.

Solely in regards to the club, Tangiers is not too shabby. I'm an old woman in training and think I may be done with the club scene so I really had a 2 or 3 star experience, but I cannot penalize a decent establishment simply because I'd rather be at home crocheting with a cat in my lap (by that I mean "sleeping" as I neither own a feline nor possess even basic crocheting skills). Nice, clean space with a Moulin Rouge vibe. At midnight on a Fri, there was no line and just a moderate crowd inside. The lounge-y bottle service zones, which cover a lot of area in the restaurant, were unoccupied. With the DJ elevated on a platform spinning some decent beats, girls were starting to shake it on the dance floor in their LBDs, though there was room for more to join. Tangiers is refreshing after recent visits to 508, Bar Abilene, etc. I had room to breath and move, a hot commodity in the club scene. The North Loop also draws a nice youngish (not straight outta college kiddies), well-dressed professional crowd. I'd recommend for a night out, especially for a more "classy" (it's all relative, folks) club experience.

I am so excited to update my review of Tangiers. We partnered with Tangiers for a work event and Ivey was my contact, she was outstanding to work with. They merchandised their table beautifully and their array of food was impressive. A group of us stopped at Tangiers after our event for the late night happy hour. Ivey's service and hospitality continued. We ordered several of the apps on happy hour and were all quite delectable. There was a drink and food happy hour ($10 martinis for $5, apps from $3-6). Bravo Tangiers! Looking forward to an encore visit to try your full menu.

Amazing atmosphere! This is the place to be "Seen" in Minneapolis. Great music with different themes on different nights, an "industry night" for those of us in the "biz", great drinks and food, you name it! Staff is great too, can't go wrong checking out Tangiers!

My boyfriend and I came here to check out their Wednesday Jazz Night and had a good time. The extravagant decor and the live jazz group really made the place feel swanky for a week night. The interior really is gorgeous, lots of classy chandeliers, long red draped curtains, rich dark brown leather couches all over and a granite counter top bar. They really pulled out all the stops for the ambiance. We arrived around nine and most of the booths were already taken because the music was about to start so we opted to sit at the bar. I had a few glasses of wine throughout the evening and thought they were reasonably priced, $6/glass for the merlot I chose. We split two appetizers which were definitely tasty, but not particularly memorable. We had the chicken lettuce wraps with a peanut sauce and the Tangiers Flatbread which was topped with BBQ and pulled pork and a bit of sriracha. My only complaint was that they were very understaffed. Our bartender was pleasant when he had a moment to help us, but he was so busy that we had to wait several times for what felt like a long time. They really needed a second barkeep to help out. The music was nice and the atmosphere is definitely what you come here for, I'd probably come back again.

Absolutely love the atmosphere! We tried Tangiers with a livingsocial deal (2 apps and 2 drinks) and were really impressed with the place. They normally get busy around 10, but beforehand it's a really nice, relaxing place. They have a small menu of mostly appetizers and flatbreads that was very basic but good. We got the crab cakes and flatbread (flatbread was more of a regular pizza) and the food was great. We will definitely be back!

Met up with some friends here last time I was home over Thanksgiving. I wasn't sure what to expect as the warehouse district has changed a lot - but was pleasantly surprised at how dark/sexy/visually interesting the space was. We made our way down the cocktail list - they had some real winners in there, just can't remember the names now - but you can't go wrong with anything infused, gingery, or basil-y. I wish I had remembered to look at their wine list but I was in a cocktail kind of mood. Next time! The bartenders were nice, unpretentious, and not-hard-to-look-at, but I imagine that's part of what they're selling here. :) I don't hate that. Both the staff and the other patrons were easygoing and conversational - which is a plus in my book since I find myself more about the bar than bottle service these days. But if that's your thing, the place seems well equipped with open (yet somewhat secluded?) areas for a more private kind of luxe/debauchery. All in all, I had a great time and will need to be back to check out the DJ, lounge, and small bites!

This place is so sexy. You know when you go shopping and you see that gorgeous LBD and you wonder where you're ever going to wear it? This is the place for it. Leather love seats, velvet drapes, chandeliers, dark wood...it's dripping in classy. That being said, there were people there in jeans - and there was some wild comicon thing going on. People dressed like superheros everywhere. You would fit in no matter what you decide to wear. I went with my sister, Kim B. She purchased a Groupon ($25 for $50). We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir and a Mediterranean flat bread to share and walked out owing an additional $6+tip. They don't accept reservations for parties under 4 people, so we ended up at the bar. It was comfortable and the service was excellent. Parking was easy - there are surface lots and on-street parking everywhere. I'll definitely try it again - with my husband - in my LBD!

Good music but small dance floor, I really wish their were more places to sit as well without having to be vip seemed like all the chair-sections were roped off for the "reserved" though there wasn't much of a crowd on a Friday night at midnight

This is the place to come if you want to dance to a good DJ and music all night. It got noticeably more crowded around 11:15 on Saturday night. This is a nice addition to the Minneapolis night scene since it's trendy and not ghetto so hopefully it stays this way. The dinner menu is pretty limited but the items were tasty. The crab cakes and shrimp tacos were good. The wine and cocktail list was extensive with reasonably priced options. This place is pretty quiet and empty for dinner and they weren't prepared since they had to pick up the shrimp from whole foods after we placed multiple orders of shrimp tacos for our group. The server apologized for the wait due to their lack of preparation and comped our first round of drinks! There's a parking lot right next to this place that only charges $5 on Saturday night. Overall it was a fun experience and I'll likely be back for the late night dancing!

After going to those bars/clubs with bros everywhere and girls with 5 pounds of makeup on, I was a little worried this place would be the same but was pleasantly surprised it wasn't! There was a line and a bouncer that was letting other people go ahead in their other "VIP-ish" line, which felt a little annoying but we didn't have to wait long so I didn't mind. The decor is really cool and looks very classy, and it was very easy and quick to get a drink. The music they were playing was spot on! I would love to go back just for their dance floor. There isn't much space to stand around so it gets a little crowded but otherwise it was a fun place!

Tangiers is one of my favorite places in Minneapolis. It is a super classy spot, I've never really seen any drama while here and everyone always just seems to be having a great time. The only complaint I have is that the back bar can be very slow getting drinks out to people, but I'm not entirely shocked, as that happens mostly everywhere on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Overall, I always enjoy a night out at the Tangiers!

  • Austin O.

The ambiance of The Tangiers is warm and inviting with its queen ann sofas, red velvet drapery and elegant atmosphere. There are a few promising elements of this lounge but overall, I left being very underwhelmed by the quality of service as well as the drinks being offered. I attended this venue in a group that had reserved a spot in the lounge area because we were hoping for an elevated level of service for our friend's birthday party. Instead, we became a captive audience to a $300 minimum spend requirement and a waitress who said "I won't be taking any more drink orders because I'm too busy" to a group of thirsty people. Beer is the way to go at The Tangiers. The mixed drinks lack craftsmanship and pizzazz that you'll find at similarly priced venues in Minneapolis like La Belle Vie, Bradstreet, Eat Street Social, or Saffron. Don't even bother going here to treat yourself to a nice whiskey or gin as their shelves cap out with Makers Mark and Bombay Sapphire.

I stopped in to Tangiers for happy hour a couple weeks ago and sampled my way through their small plates menu with a few friends. Between us, we sampled about half the menu and absolutely loved everything we tried. I would especially recommend the pork tacos and bread pudding with berries. The chefs at this place know what they are doing. The ambiance can work for happy hour or a late night setting. It's a beautiful space with amazing old beams that provide a dramatic backdrop to the chandeliers and artwork throughout. Even with the warehouse high ceilings, the space felt cozy and intimate. Well done! Can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu!

This place did a big media push when they opened so I thought it was time to check it out. I went for the late night happy hour on a Thur. To be upfront Tangiers is not my type of joint but I did want to see what it's about and this article helped edge me to try it minneapolis.cities2night… Specifically their words; "The concept of The Tangiers came from a desire to create a unique, eclectic and swanky restaurant and ultra lounge that has a upscale feel but mid range prices." It sounds like a good idea but after walking in and feeling like I was in an early 2000s generic club I didn't see unique or eclectic. The charcuterie plate where the dry salami and cured ham is equal to what can be bought pre-packaged at Rainbow Foods can't be considered a swanky dish. And when I think ultra lounge I don't expect Makers Mark (a great at home everyday whiskey) to be the top shelf choice of said ultra lounge with an upscale feeling. I'll give them midrange prices. I try not to rate places by a style bias but they did throw out their concept and my rating is based off of how their concept panned out. IMO they're trying to attract everyone but they will only entice one crowd. They need to be honest and just say, "We're a late night generic hook up place catering to the coke crowd". If you're looking to grind it out or have a weak illusion that you're in Vegas 10 yrs ago then by all means Tangiers is a 5 star and go have some fun. If you're not looking for that experience there's a ton of other N Loop bars and Nordeast bars that have a lot of great character.

So yeah where do I start? We had a Living Social deal so we decided to give it a try being that we live in the North Loop. The food was basically something you can buy at Cub Foods yet it took 45 minutes to bring out flatbread. The wine selection was fairly short but the mixed drink list was nice. Then there's the clientele. It's like a mix between the Kardashians and The Hills, so basically a lot of fake plastic women with frat boy boyfriends. Apparently it turns into a dance club at night. I'm not going to stay around to find out.

This is a really beautiful space. I was here for a private event and really loved sipping on wine and snacking here. The flatbread pizzas were really good as was the burrata caprese with avocado. The thai chicken salad lettuce wraps were really good but the texture turned me off a bit. Great flavored hummus though. The space really makes this a great place to hang out in. From the reviews though it seems as though the place has a crisis of identity. Apparently it turns into a club type atmosphere after 10. The food and drinks menus plus the decor really make this place suitable as a tapas type lounge. I'd definitely come back for some happy hour noshing.

I'm not a club guy but I really dig this place! The food is tremendous and very affordable. The staff are friendly and on point. The decor is amazing with no expense wasted! Great place to go for happy hour if you're into chill swank or a great place to dance past 10pm if that's more your thing.

I went here around mid night with some of my friends. After waiting in line for a while, the security guard was down right rude and insensitive. I left right away after the way he spoke to me. Why would I spend any money at a place that does not train their employees to treat their customers with respect? On thing I did observe was the crowd that was going in to this bar. Definitely not classy. Good thing I bailed.

I just dropped my Haterade and spilled it everywhere. I can't speak for the food, but the club SUCKS. Everything from the owners, bouncers, and bartenders are the same as Fahrenheit and NV from back in the day (crickets) I used to frequent Fahrenheit when I was a kid and would have a blast! Tangiers is the mid life crisis version of the old Fahrenheit. Mpls in not Miami/Vegas, and legit clubs in legit cities know how to work a line which includes letting the girls and couples in first and making the less fortunate wait. Tangiers has no idea what they're doing with the line. They make everyone wait in line forEVER in subzero temps to make it seem poppin when it's NOT. They let wack people who 'know' people and a million and a half dudes in before the ladies - cue the broasis #heybroheybroheybro Also, the music is turrible. I like electro, but if you're really trying to be that 'scene' please play something new and relevant! If you're lucky, they may play a little hip hop at the end, but it's clear they're trying to keep a certain crowd out. Uber lame bc Minnesotans dance to anything. I've tried to relive my fun, young clubbin days here a few times, and I just can't hang. Boo.

Great food and drinks! Live music was a plus, too. Pork tacos were delicious, will definitely come back to try some other items. Only negative, just one lady to seat and wait on the whole place, service was good as far as timing in delivery of food and drinks but came around few and far between.

Second time ever in Minneapolis and heard from friends that this was the spot. I am a frequenter of lounges/clubs in NY, Vegas, Miami, and LA, so was curious to see what Minneapolis had to offer. After checking it out for Happy Hour yesterday, I couldn't be more impressed with the food, service, drinks, and crowd! An elegant, friendly vibe, classic speak-easy meets ultra-lounge. Will not miss the opportunity to head back this weekend!!

This place is great! The staff is so welcoming and helpful and the ambience is my home away from home.

Our happy hour drinks were overly strong and the food was mediocre, but the real issue was that the service was absolutely atrocious. I learned that the bartender, Amir, is one of the owners, but I couldn't help but feel that if I had a low cut shirt or a skirt, he would have treated us like humans instead of dirt. He didn't care about us, even though we were the first to sit at the bar and the results of complaining about the service we received were so pitiful that I will never return.

All around good experiences at Tangiers. The cocktails are good and you can't beat the $6 martini happy hour. The food is meh and seems like most of it comes out of a toaster oven. Improve on the appetizers and this could go from good to great.

We went to Tangiers for the first time this last Saturday and as soon as we walked in noticed the place was elegant and inviting. We ordered the bruschetta along with some specialty drinks. We do allot of traveling so we've seen it all; good and bad. Yet, it was refreshing to find a new place in the twin cities with good food and descent drinks. The staff was friendly and the owners Ivy and Ben were constantly attending to their guests which was nice to see. When the DJ started the music, the place was packed and you could barely find a place to stand. I recommend booking a booth with bottle service in advance. I would go back for sure.

I've been to Tangiers a few different times now - both for Happy Hour and in the evenings for drinks and dancing. This place is the spot to be! The early happy hours are still heating up - so check it out and become a regular! They have great deals on appetizers and drinks during that time. Items I've tried and love - the Pork Belly Tacos are delicious - it has some sort of relish on there that is like nothing you've tried before. I'm also a fan of the Shrimp Pesto Flat bread. I haven't been able to try the Sweet and Salty dates yet - but I've heard wonderful things about them and that is next on my list! I've also tried 3 of the 4 salads they offer and I don't think you could go wrong with any of the selections - each dish has a little uniqueness there that just tops off your taste buds. And for dessert - you cannot miss the Bread Pudding. I would not normally seek that out at a restaurant - b this version is different than I've tried in other places - melts in your mouth of just pure goodness. The Chef at Tangiers really must dedicate time into the decisions made with these delectable dishes! Atmosphere - Great for happy hour - lots of fun places to sit and I love the big couches, chandeliers, and the artwork in there that I think must have been commissioned for the restaurant as it has a Minneapolis/Moroccan aura to it! And for late night crowd - spot to be seen - the dance floor is just the appropriate size for dancing with friends but not feeling too crowded and there is a small bar next to the dance floor so nice that you can get a drink without having to go back to main bar. Cocktails - they have a bunch of signature cocktails that are worth trying out - along with of course a full array of wines and beers too. I'm happy to say I will be frequenting this joint more and more often.

Atmosphere is okay, BUT what a rip off! The service is so-so and food is fair. Here is my biggest complaint is the unfair taxation! So I bought a few beers and drinks on different transactions. CHECK your Receipts! They tax exactly $1 for one Beer and on the bill that is $10 it is $1. Plus the beers are different prices for the same brand of beer. For example my Stella was $4 and then it was $5 and then $4 depending on who your server is. I only realized this the next day as it was busy and I was at a function when I was there. I tried to call the next day but no one answers the phone.....A little shady to me....

Disappointing after all the hype. Excited to have in the neighborhood, however not sure that the clientele they brought in was in the original plans, anything goes was the theme tonight. What is up with all the reserved seating, that was never occupied? Great space, unfortunately not utilized as well as if could be. I hope Tangiers evolves into something deserving of its name.

We had purchased a LivingSocial Deal and were eager to try this new place in our neighborhood. Their menu was small, but good. Food courses came out at the wrong times though (we didn't mind because we weren't in a hurry), bartenders were attentive but not super knowledgeable. We decided on the hummus, burrata and shrimp pesto pizza. All three things were good but the hummus was excellent! The decor and ambiance was great and reminded me of a mixture between Marvel and Prohibition. We're looking forward to going back for drinks soon.

I was here for my friend rehearsal dinner and could not have been more disappointed in the manager and the setup. They didn't deliver on their expectations (said there would be a buffet, full private bar, and 1/2 the restaurant rented out to them) and instead 35 of us got awkwardly sat at low tables with appetizers that slowly trickled in. The brides family didn't even get food served at their table until we asked. The manager was a complete DICK to the bride and the guests. Rather than doing everything in his power to make the experience right for her, he sassed off to her and said, "well, what do you want me to do." He was also totally inappropriate with his own wait (all female) staff. He was whispering in their ears in front of customers, touching their lower backs -- his relationship with all of them seemed disgusting. The only good things were the food and the server we had. The drinks were unbelievably weak, but served and refilled promptly. I hope my friend who paid for this ended up getting a major discount because her expectations were not only smashed, the experience of it all made her wedding weekend start on the lowest note possible.

Great space, beautiful decor....... but horrible service - rude, pushy when not completely ignoring you, made us feel unwelcome (this was not just a random server, but the owner as well). Plus the drinks were off-tasting, and the shots were so small in quantity (barely a third of a standard shot glass) that you barely taste them going down. Had high hopes for this place, but not going back.

Great new addition to the warehouse district. The ambience is lovely. It is a perfect place for grabbing drinks. Our bartender/owner Amir was so helpful and friendly. We will be back for sure.

I hosted my birthday party at Tangiers recently and did VIP/bottle service. I liked the space, it had a great vibe and was very nice. However, I was not impressed with the service. When I arrived, my reserved table was not ready and will filled with people dining. Once they were moved, it took a long time to get a server and then our bottles. I get it, things happen, so I shook it off and didn't let it bother me. As the night continued though, I became even less impressed with the service as our server was awkward with my guests, kind of rude when it came to her overall service, and then at the end reminded me repeatedly that her tip wasn't included. Hunny, I understand, I do not need to be told. That just made it seem as though she was looking down on me and my group, and was worried about a tip. She was tipped generously despite the awkwardness of the night. The DJ was good, the atmosphere was nice, so that was the saving grace. I'll definitely go back, but not to host any more events.
