the service there is mediocre. i sat down outside once for a half hour waiting for some punk rock waiter to serve me. nonetheless, it has some of the best hamburgers in town. i love the green marvel.

The spouse and I headed to The Bulldog N.E. this evening because he has a thing for nachos, and according to Yelp they have the best in the area. . . I was all about the truffled tater tots. How can you go wrong? You can't. They were a.MA.zing. I think I now have a *thing* for truffles, so much so I posted it on facebook: "I have a thing for truffles, thank you Bulldog NE!" (and we know it then must be true). Because the service was SO good, we were out of there with an hour to spare on the meter so we took a walk - great area to walk around and bounce in to the shops. 1 star off because my salad was so-so and my lemonade was boring.

I have been here numerous times and know I will be back. Everything is good. The atmosphere is open and spacious, the staff are quick and charismatic, the beer list is extensive, and the food is AWESOME. Recently I had the Pork Belly Tacos... Words can't grasp what delish I had.

I ordered a medium rare burger and the waiter brought out a cold raw ground beef pattie The service here is hit or miss. Sometimes they forget to bring our food. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is because a friend of mine is a waitress here.

If you eat nothing else at this bar, get the parmesan truffle tots. Least healthy but most delicious thing ever. Then pair it with one of the MANY awesome beers this bar serves. They also have awesome burgers according to everyone who has tried them - they are made with Kobe beef and have a gluten-free option for the bun. The service tends to be so-so - there's even a server who regularly asks, "Another beerski, broski?" LOL!

The best damn burgers in NE Mpls. If you don't mind waiting for a while (every time I've been there, I've waited at least 10-15 min), the burgers are going to blow your mind. For your typical NE bar, this place will make you pretty happy once you order a burger. Of course, the size of the plate and meal might make you want to take a nap, that being said, the bartenders and servers are always happy to keep you going with refreshments of all kinds.

I've always overlooked the Bulldog and thought of it as a college bar with basic bar food. A friend pointed out my folly and I gave it a try on the truffle burger. I have to say, it really lived up to expectations. I took a long look at the menu and beer list and there's a ton of great beers and lots of burgers, sandwiches, and entrees that look really good. I'll definitely be back for more and recommend anyone in the area to give it a try.

The food has gotten a little bit better in the last few months. The service is still painfully slow, especially on the patio. I probably will frequent it more than I have in the past knowing that it is one of the few locations in the city that allow my four legged friend...

Bulldog N.E. A Sonnet. One does not often have a special place In which the stars and planets do align. The eyes do smile when signs fall on their face. Come closer dear, I wish to make you mine. Within our space we see the gourmand's pride- From taps flow forth a beer enjoyed by all; A groaning spread, across the table wide. Our time runs thin when does ring out "last call!" And as the din dies slowly in the night, The time we've spent is only in our heads. The doors are locked; Out put, the beacon light. All weary, drunk and happy hit their beds. I dream, the future is but only fog: There will again be nights known at Bulldog.

The service was great. Our waitress happily accommodated our ever-changing group size. The food was disappointing. It took much too long to get our food, the chevre in the asparagus fritatta was oddly nauseating (and I love chevre), and the chocolate caramel cupcake with chocolate frosting tasted like everything came from a can. I"ll probably go back, but will stick to the unlikely-to-screw-up burgers.

Burgers, burgers, burgers. That's probably most of what I would suggest here. Served with fries, they'll run you about $10 a plate. Typical bar food and typical garden variety beer list otherwise. They botched our reservation, but we still got a party of 20 seated without much trouble from a very apologetic staff. Bottom line: Still alright.

I awaited the opening of the Bulldog NE with childlike giddiness. I'm a beer nerd through and through, so the idea of being able to walk a few blocks away and get such treasured gems as Houblon IPA, St. Bernardus Abt, and Delerium Tremens FROM THE TAP was on par with getting a Super Nintendo for Christmas when I was 7. I eventually got rid of my Super Nintendo. I could not give up the Bulldog NE. The beer selection is truly amazing: about fifteen awesome Belgians and other imports along with six or so top-notch domestic beers (Surly, Bell's, Rush River) on tap. Appropriate glassware is used. Even more stuff is available in bottles. It borders on obscene. Even though they aren't really my fancy, they do offer a nice selection of wines and some surprisingly tasty signature cocktails as well. The menu deftly walks the line between traditional bar food (hamburgers!), comfort food (tater tots!), and surprisingly good upscale fare (steak tartare!). The burgers in particular are a favorite: the beef is ground in-house and each burger is meticulously cooked to order. I also have a deep and abiding respect for their hot dogs. And their truffled chicken nuggets are not to be ignored either. Oh so many favorites. Lately they've been doing a good job of mixing things up a bit with weekly specials and a special brunch menu, both of which have yielded delicious results. My only gripe is that the place does get really loud on weekends -- overly loud music is a pet peeve, and the Bulldog NE is guilty of it. I could keep raving (patio! shuffleboard! cupcakes! excellent servers!), but instead I'll just say it's a true jewel of the NE/St. Anthony Main area.

We were in town for a concert & a convention, wound up following friends here for a drink afterwards. It was rather loud, but it's a sports bar type atmosphere, so that's to be expected. The beer menu was pretty comprehensive. I didn't know where to start, but I described the beer I usually drink, and our waitress gave me a great recommendation. I had a Belgian beer called St. Bernardus which was utterly amazing and unique - dark but very smooth with some vaguely fruity flavors. I had a chicken sandwich - don't recall which one, but it had bacon, aged cheese and rosemary mayo - absolutely delicious. My only complaint is that I would have liked the waitress to come by a bit more, but in her defense, the bar was REALLY crowded that night and it was hard to even squeeze between tables. Overall, great place, I would definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

Went here on a Friday Night with some girlfriends for a late night happy hour since neither of us felt like staying home, but we also didn't want to go to the clubs so somehow we ended up here. Great beer selection and the place had a good amount of people. There were probably only a couple tables left open along with bar stools. The customer service could have been better, but it was a little on the busy side so I didn't mind. $2 off any apps. daily from 3pm-6pm AND 11pm-1am! I absolutely loved the Sriracha Tator Tots, but I'd recommend skipping out on the House-Made Bavarian Pretzels. Also, for those of you who are into the whole cupcake craze, they have a lot to choose from.

I had the Togarashi burger, which has 'Togarashi spice' along with Japanese coleslaw and wasabi mayo. It is one of the spicier burgers on the menu, and kind of sloppy, and was very tasty. I could have gone for even more spice, personally. I don't know if I'll get the Togarashi again any time soon what with all the interesting burgers on the menu, but I was certainly satisfied. They have a lot of different varieties and for a person who likes burgers a lot, this place is great. The fries were really good too. Service was excellent.

The Bulldog N.E. is a great place for bar food and a quick bite. The staff is very friendly, which always boosts an experience. Located in the heart of NE, The Bulldog is easy to get to. It is a great place to go for a quick date night or an after-work beer. And, if I was really into sports, I don't think it would be that bad of a place to catch a game. Here's our quick take: Atmosphere Pretty standard bar atmosphere. The location and summer evening aided in the experience. Service Our waiter was knowledgeable when it came to the beer selection, prompt and very friendly. Presentation Nothing special. Just our food in a basket, but what do you expect with hot dogs? Taste Both Zeb and I really enjoyed our meals. Value for Dollars The price for our beers was a little steep ($12 for two), but that is at every Mpls bar on a Saturday night. And the food price balanced that out.

This my 3rd time here and each time it's been good, trip 1) pork belly tacos were pretty good, 2) steak tarte had a little too much going on with amount if capers but trip 3) solidified the 4 stars. The Togarashi burger was awesome. In fact so many burger looked great and it took me a little while to decide. I think I'll work my way through most of the list.

Had a super wonderful lunch here. The burgers, oh THE BURGERS! Too many to choose from. Each person at our table got a different one, we all shared, and they were ALL top-notch. - Great service - Really decent draught beer selection - Seemingly "local" thing going on with ingredients/sourcing Fun atmosphere and wasn't crowded at lunch.

Had brunch on mothers day (with a reservation) and greatly enjoyed a spectacular oyster benedict. OMG! Fantastic!! My daughter had a burger and friend had a hotdog - gourmet, but still in reach for these teens. Delish! Can't wait to go back!

Love this place for beers. Great selection with a good vibe and plenty of people. Plenty of TV's for catching a game along with shuffleboard. I recommend checking this place out just as much for the food! Truffle burger, truffle tots and their brunch is solid.

I opted for the truffle burger: truffle oil, brie cheese, on an English muffin. Wow. That burger was amazing. I think I died and went to heaven. Mmmm. I polished off the fries too. I'm such a glutton.

I suppose I should rate the Bulldog, since I got a free cupcake for checking in here! I've been here numerous times. I have taken both my parents here separately when they've come to visit (they never visit together... 40 years of marriage, you need a vacation from one another sometimes..). The food has always been good. I'm a big fan of the black bean burger, and their fries are worth the extra dollar. I'd probably even pay two dollars extra for their fries (big spender!)! Their cupcakes are different every day, but they've always got tons of icing and some kind of filling. My *free* cupcake today was PISTACHIO CHERRY! Can you believe it? How does it get any better? Seriously... different cupcakes every day, and every single one I've had has made me want to marry whoever made them... and I don't even believe in marriage! As it were, I found out that everyone who works there makes the cupcakes. It just depends on the day. That would be a really big wedding. I was a student at Aveda and I noticed that whenever I went in to eat in my Aveda uniform for lunch, the service wasn't so great usually. When I have gone otherwise, the service has been good. So I guess I don't really hold it against them because, frankly, a lot of Aveda girls deserve shitty service. All in all a good place with a wide variety of food choices. something to keep in mind: the menu is different at each Bulldog restaurant, so don't go here expecting the same thing as Uptown or anything.

Bulldog is one of my favorite places for bar food. Decent happy hour deals, I mostly look at the food deals as I do not drink. I highly recommend any of the burgers, made with Kobe Beef. Also the appetizers section contains some unique options including my favorite, the Spicy Sauteed Chicken Wings made with sriracha. The room is usually pretty packed and has a great atmosphere. The walls are covered with TVs if you want to watch a game, and the servers do a great job of keeping track of TV requests, making sure that if someone already requested a game be on one TV it stays on throughout your visit. As a person who does not drink going out for food/drinks with friends and not ordering a beer can sometimes draw a suspicious look from a server because they think that I am just cheap and do not want to spend the money. This, somewhat surprisingly, has not been an issue at The Bulldog NE and that is something I really loved about this place. ALSO, the kitchen is open late, I think it is until 1 AM, and they do food to go until late as well. Very good bar food!

My favorite bar in the neighborhood. Great Beer and Great Food. The burgers are the best that I have had in a long time. Juicy and cooked to order with just the right topping options and amazing fries or tots on the side. The other items on the menu that I have had (BBQ Pulled Pork, The Cubano, and the Tater Tot Hot Dish) have been good too. My only complaints are that it can be crowded and the place is pretty loud.

The tatertots are delicious! Their cherry beer is one of the best I've ever had! The first waitress was rude and tried to yell at us, however, the bartender made up for her and he was great! An added bonus is the shuffleboard table!!

The Bulldog NE is a bar that doesn't get much play in my nightlife rotation, but I can't really put my finger on why. After all, a phenomenal beer selection, tater tots and table shuffleboard is the recipe for awesome. I should really come here more often. This is also a great place for lunch or dinner, especially if you catch a table on the sidewalk. It's more polished than the Uptown Bulldog. The menus are similar, but I daresay the food in NE is slightly better too. In addition to pickle plates, gourmet hot dogs, burgers, chicken & waffles and tater tot hot dish, they also serve brunch on weekends and housemade cupcakes in a different flavor each day, like root beer float or blueberry coconut. Yep. I was in the mood for a classic, so I got the Tillamook smokey cheddar with the thickest bacon ever. The truffle tots come dressed with Parmesan, truffle oil and herbs. The burger was great, although (due to my boyfriend's diligence) I found out that the "domestic Kobe beef" on The Bulldog's menu should probably not be billed that way since real Kobe beef from Japan is not sold in the U.S. And while I'm sure the flavor is similar, it's kinda like how champagne shouldn't be called champagne unless it's made in Champagne, France. Sparkling wine vs. champagne, beer-fed American beef vs. Kobe beef... taste-wise, it's all good. One downside to our last visit was actually one of the patrons, so I can't fault The Bulldog for that. But a head's up that you could have to deal with some impatient people at the shuffleboard table. This guy was essentially breathing down my friend's neck because he was up after us. I'm pretty sure he asked us twelve times if we were almost done... within five minutes. Just cool down, bro. Eat some sriracha tots, get a delicious beer and come back later.

Came from Boston. We had just landed in St. Paul and needed a bite to eat. Took to Yelp and saw this place and figured a quick burger would be something quick and easy. I was completely blown away. AMAZING food. I got the Bella Burger with truffle tater tots... I repeat, TRUFFLE TATER TOTS! The burger was cooked exactly how I had requested. The tots were crispy on the outside and fluffy and hot on the inside. My boyfriend ordered the LaFrieda Burger. They recommended it cooked medium rare but it came out slightly over medium. Even still, he said the burger was incredible. A couple days later, we decided to go back to The Bulldog N.E. for lunch again (we're creatures of habit) I ordered the Togarashi Burger with Togarashi tater tots. I have never heard of this "Togarashi" seasoning but it was absolutely delicious. Nice balance of flavor and spice to it and the burger was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend decided to order the LaFrieda Burger again and requested it medium rare, as recommended. This time it came out correct and it was VERY good. The beer selection is unique, lots of Belgian beers. I enjoyed sampling the different beers. The waitstaff seemed knowledgable about their food and the beer selection. Can't wait to plan a trip back to St. Paul, simply because of The Bulldog N.E.

I figure I better hop back on the horse and get back in the good graces of the Yelp community. I've been absent for quite a while so I might as well spew out some word vomit on a few local establishments. I'm a a big fan of the Bulldog franchise, although this particular location is no longer owned by the same people that own the other two. I'm gonna compare them all anyway. This particular pooch also has a great beer selection but is nowhere near as extensive as the Bulldog in Lowertown. It is however quite small and it's generally nuts to butts on the weekends and during happy hour, much like the Uptown version. However, there are far less shit head hipster douche nozzles here which is a huge plus. Like I said, the beer selection is very good and it leans a bit Belgian. The food is bar fare with a twist. I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered. They have a variety of wieners (hot dogs not penises) that are all tasty and they do tots well. All in all this a good place to get a drink if you can get a seat at the bar. The also have shuffleboard for you barroom athletes.

Last night was my first visit to The Bulldog N.E. and I was not disappointed. They had great late night specials and we had a colossal amount of wings, tots, nachos, and beers for a little under $20 so I'm beyond stoked about that. We sat at the bar and John was our bartender, he was very nice and attentive. When I saw they had wings I took his advice and got the Sweet and Spicy ones and they were the best wings I've had since I move to Minnesota 5 months ago!! Beyond impressed with this place and I will definitely be going back soon~

I went here while I was in a hurry during my lunch break with a group of people and placed a rather unusual order. Thanks, PMS. A cup of coffee and a cupcake the size of a softball (which was really, delicious) were the verdict. The group I was with all got hot dishes, which I helped myself to generously. They all enjoyed their food and scarfed it down so fast that I hadn't even finished my gigantic cupcake. I know a cupcake is a strange thing to get at an establishment like the Bulldog, but I have a huge sweet tooth. This really hit the spot. It caught my eye as soon as I walked in, staring directly at me with it's creamy deliciousness and rich filling in the center. The bar seemed nice. The seating was good, and the building had an interesting, industrial feel. I would suggest waiting until you're not time-crunched to go here, because if there's a lot of people hanging out, it can get a bit hectic for the server. I will try here again. All of my friends seem to love this location, too!

I've been to the lower town Bulldog as well as this one(both more than once). Every single time I've been to the Bulldog and have ordered a burger they ask me how I'd like it done, pretty normal for a good burger joint. Every time I get my burger it's always over cooked and never how I requested. If you're a burger joint this is a big deal no? Am I the only one? The beer selection is the only thing saving them from a measly 2 star rating. They have some nice flights put together and just a really nice selection in general, lots of "good" imports and some really nice domestic craft brews as well. Tacking on another complaint here. I ordered a furious last night and it was somehow...well just not furious. The amazing aroma was barely there and the hoppy goodness was missing. I don't know how they messed it up, an old keg seems unlikely, Surly messed up, also unlikely...Not sure what happened there. When it comes down to it, it's a solid average joint but it's likely you'll be disappointed if you've heard raving reviews of their burgers.

I love this place and love their burgers, but it really annoys me that they claim to serve Kobe beef. It is not. There is no Kobe beef in the United States. There are no domestic herds and it's illegal to import. Good, but expensive beer selection. ::edit:: Thanks for the response. "American Kobe-style beef" is not Kobe beef. Export of Kobe cattle is restricted and importation of Japanese cattle/meat is illegal. Wagyu (simply meaning cattle from Japan) cattle cross-bred with Angus cattle are not Kobe cattle. I understand that truth in advertising nonsense in the U.S. lets these people lie (much like the corn growers trying to market high fructose corn syrup as "corn sugar") but it's not exactly honest. A dead giveaway is the redness of the meat. Kobe meat is much more white. I won't deny that the I find meat you use to be good, but it is what it is and it isn't what it isn't.

Always great food but the service was lacking a bit. We ordered water to begin with as we looked over the menus. She too our drink order with the food order. My drink came a few minutes later and when she put the drink on the table she looked at my friend and said "what did you order? *slight pause*. "Oh yeah, you ordered a ......." and she left. Our food came a few minutes after this and she STILL didn't have his drink. He raised his voice just a bit (really) and sternly asked "could I get a .......". She giggled and said "oh yeah.". A minute later he had his drink. No apology :( Had the Tillamook Smokey Cheddar burger and I added guacamole this time as I normally get the same burger without the guacamole. Very good addition, in my opinion. Did it make it better? Probably not but, just different. The tater tots were as awesome as ever and they give you more than enough.

That was one good burger! Wow, an hour later and I can still taste the burger goodness in my mouth! I've got to say there is nothing better after a good workout than a perfect, greasy, flavorful, dripping with taste burger. Good fries add to the experience but the burger was really the focal point. Now I ordered the Junk Burger, loved the name and it was the right choice! A little bit of everything on it and everything blended together just right. The surprise was the thick cut mushrooms that had been just slightly cooked and had a real nice flavor. Only complaint might have been a little to much mayo but I think it was really Garlic Aoli (mayo with garlic) but hell it tasted good so who cares right. I have been here before it became Bulldogs and for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. I remember the food was just that, not something that made me remember the name. I will remember the bulldog and the great burger. Service was solid and my lunch partner had the black-bean burger which looked very good and from what I was told was very tasty as well. Solid four stars for this burger bliss! God it's nice to get out of the burbs for lunch. I can see about four places from the front window I want to try next week. KT

This place was awesome. Again. I ordered yet another burger, and I couldn't resist re-ordering the fennel dusted fries. The food is excellent. I thought I would give them another try not on a friday night. And it meant that it was much quieter than the first time we were there. We ended up at the same table as before, which was OK, but I really wanted to sit in the back section that was closed. Though, sometimes you don't get what you want. I complain, but the front was really fine on a not busy night. I'll be honest, I think they have some of the best burgers in the cities. So, the short, if you like loud and delicious, go on a friday/saturday night, if you like medium noise and delicious food, go any other night. I would happily go back here any time.

Great beer selection. And i love that you can order flights of beer. I really dont get why more places dont offer flights. A lot of menu items sounded good but I wasn't too hungry so I just opted for an app. They did have chicken and waffles. I had a bite so now I can check that off my foods Ive tried list. I'd come back but mostly for the beer and the shuffle board.

Their Taylor tots are to die for. I like how they make cupcakes in house. The environment is perfect for casual times. Fun to grab beer with friends out or get food for a chill dinner. I like the changing beer options and the ease of both parking and tables available.

Went here for lunch with my husband before he had to go to work. So yummy! The service was quick and the burgers were delicious. I got the house, and my husband got the Ninja (jalapenos and pepper jack cheese) and we were both very satisfied. The fries were a little over-salted, but still quite good. Our waitress was awesome, and gave us two free cupcakes despite yelp check-in not working. We were both too full to eat them there, but I'm looking forward to my raspberry coconut snack later today! Also, I forgot my bike helmet there, and they were super helpful when I came back to get it. Fifth star FTW.

This was an unexpected gem. Seating was super easy, no wait at all during the lunch crowd. Parking was a bitch though - with only a few spots in the lot, we had to circle and find street parking - not fun on a freezing day. Once inside, the service was quick and super helpful, even while quite busy. Drink refills were fast and efficient - we didn't even have to ask. Starting with the Truffled Tater Tots was fabulously delicious. Golden brown, perfect crunch on the outside and mealiness on the inside, tasty parmesan flakes. Came with a side of garlic aioli. The bottom of the basket definitely had a pool of oil though. The burgers came with a side option of salad, which was quite delicious. Junk burger was PURE HEAVEN. Cupcake of the day was some double chocolate with caramel delight. They had lambics, which was awesome, but only one flavor currently in stock. What a tease. Definitely worth a visit for locals and visitors alike.

This is my favorite place to grab a burger in Minneapolis. Made with Kobe beef, these juicy burgers are ready to erupt in your mouth. I'd recommend skipping the tator tots and going straight for the parmesan truffle fries with garlic ailoi dipping sauce. They are incredible!!! They have a great beer selection, including flight beers, but for the picky ladies out there keep in mind that they don't carry Stella. Oh, and don't forget to grab a cupcake on your way out! All in all, this is my ideal spot for grabbing a casual bite to eat (and staying after to party!)

I really, really wanted to like the Bulldog N.E. because...well, you know. It's The Bulldog! Where else can you get a great burger, amIright? No. I am not right. The tots are tasty and wonderfully crisp with just the right amount of guilty-greasy flavor, but my burger was bland and the bun was soggy (the bottom was soaked through and it fell apart when you ate it). This didn't make the burger juicy, as one might think...just the bun, really. Man, soggy buns are kinda gross. This also happened the first time I ate at The Bulldog when I had the portabella burger--but I thought that it was a fluke (or a nuance of the 'bella--it's hard to get a 'bella burger that doesn't soak through a bun. I'm very forgiving for that particular preparation). Also: Medium rare. *Sigh* When will they ever learn that when you ask someone how they want their burger prepared you should actually try to cook it that way? If you don't ask, then I don't care if you medium-well/well-done the hell out of it or prepare it to your standards. If you ask me, I'm going to start to get high-minded ideas that I might get what I ask for. AND: Service was super-slow. My order was wrong (in a major way--as in the wrong item--not just the done-ness way) in a non-busy time and we had a heck of a time getting our waitress back. An after-dinner "let's quick grab a burger and a drink" turned into a two-hour ordeal. I'm not going to avoid you, Bulldog. My husband, for some crazy reason, thinks it's a miracle that you can put an egg on a hamburger. For this, we will be back. I'm not gonna hate--I hope to have a better experience next time.

Place is so worried that is is going to get a tavern violation that it forgets to take care of paying customers. When I say paying customers- i meant overpaying customers. The beer prices are insane.

I had one almost pretty good experience at Bulldog, and two really mediocre. The first time, I was with a group of friends, and we stuck to drinks and appetizers. We shared truffle tater tots (too greasy, but intensely good), nachos (decent, but nothing to write home about), and the pretzel with mustard (simple, but tasty enough). We all got drinks, ranging from a root beer (hard to screw up), to beers (they have an impressive assortment, so there's really something for everyone), to cocktails (hit or miss). The second time, my boyfriend and I decided on our way to Lunds that we wanted to eat out. I got the black bean burger and a side salad with their green goddess dressing. My boyfriend got the fish tacos. Both of us were sorely disappointed. I really wanted to love my burger, but, unfortunately, it left me totally unsatisfied. I ate maybe three bites of it, paying a whole lot for just a little salad in the end. The fish tacos were...not good. They took a culinary risk by putting a strawberry dressing on top, which was not a good choice for our taste. The waitress was either oblivious or just didn't want our feedback, so, when she saw nearly full plates and asked if we were done, we said yes and she didn't ask anything about how our meal was. That's just putting salt in the wound if you ask me. "Your food was obviously not to your liking, and I don't care." The last time I went, we got a BLT and a cheeseburger. The BLT wasn't bad, although the bacon was unnecessarily greasy, nor was the cheeseburger. Unfortunately, I probably won't be back here, even though it's 4 blocks from me. It's too unpredictable, there's too much attitude, and I spend to much money on food I could make better myself. Sorry, Bulldog.

Ah, The Bulldog NE, one of my favorite haunts in the near downtown NE neighborhood. There are plenty 'o good things going on here. The food: Delicious! I don't think I've had a bite here I didn't like, from the truffle tots, togarashi tots, pretty much all tots are awesome! But it doesn't stop there. Burgers are amazing, and I consistently ponder if I could eat two? My personal fav is the Rooster burger with sriracha sauce and house made pickles. On top of that, the nachos are always good, and the piece de resistance???? Cream cheese bacon scallion wontons! Just typing that made me drool on the keyboard (just a little). Seriously, get a bunch of baskets of delicious apps with your friends and strategically place those babies in front of you 'cause you don't want them getting away! I'd advise against using the provided sauce, they don't need it. Talk about creamy bacony goodness! (Apparently bacony is not a word? Get on that merriam webster) The Beers are plentiful and there's always something new to try. I love it when they have special casks available to try as well. If you don't know, ask your server what's new, they have a good handle on things. Atmosphere? Fun and lively, albeit a little too loud for my taste. It can be pretty difficult to have any kind of conversation in this place due to the ridiculously high ceiling and brick walls. Sound is a bouncing everywhere and a few acoustical dampening art frames or whatever would do this place wonders. I'm not looking for a quiet library here, but I'm a fan of conversing with others while out and about. (call me old fashioned). The food and beer will definitely keep me coming back, just more likely on slower nights.

My boyfriend and I dined here on a Friday night before a friend's album release party at Ground Zero. The place was packed, but thankfully we only had to wait for a table for about 10 minutes. I decided on the margherita pizza and it was divine, although not the most divine margherita pizza I've ever eaten, ie. Punch. I thought it would be enough for me - but it def wasn't. I may be small but I CAN EAT. Thankfully, my boyfriend ordered the Tater Tot hot dish and had about half leftover (like the waitress said he would) and I dove in head first, it was delish! I wasn't impressed by the drink menu - I was expecting more cocktails but they have a huge beer selection! Considering how busy they were that night we were in and out relatively quick - surprising. There was a bit of a hipster vibe, which I wasn't expecting, but it wasn't so much that I felt too out of place. I would definitely go back to The Bulldog N.E. but I think I would try for a time where it wasn't so crazy.

I've been coming to the Bulldog NE on a pretty regular basis for a while, it's one of my favorite places to grab a drink and I've introduced many friends as well. I've always gotten good food and attentive service, until last night. I was there with three other friends and it was busy, however we had a good time and enjoyed our drinks. As we were leaving, a male staff member called one of my friends a "fucking faggot." When someone mentioned that we could hear him, he then said "yea, I know he's right standing right behind me." We were both upset and offended, and my friend tried to brush the incident off after we left. But I'm still very, very disappointed. If this is the way my loved ones will be treated, by the STAFF of this establishment, I will have to take my business elsewhere and make sure that everyone knows of this incident. It's truly unfortunate that one of the best places in NE has now been tarnished in my mind by bigotry, discrimination, and pure inappropriate behavior.

After speaking to the owner via yelp I am updating my review to 3 stars. I greatly appreciate the owner reaching out to understand the previous review and I believe it will be for the better of the bar. Why do so many people gravitate to this bar? Is it the stuffed (shoulder to shoulder) crowd, the marginal food (pricey burgers), semi rude service (long gaps without as much as a "hows it going?"), and long waits for food and drink? It must be a combo of all the above that keep driving the crowds to Bulldogs NE. I have given this place several chances (not by my picking) and each and every time come to the same over hyped conclusion. After last nights bland, dry pretzel burger and semi burnt fries I know for sure it will be my last eating experience.

Good beer selection....including trappist beer. I ate the tater tot hot dish (tater tots, braised brisket, brussels sprouts, mushroom bearnaise). Yum!!!! I went with a large party (approximately 12 of us). They were able to accommodate our party and even offered to do separate checks for everyone.

There is no denying the deliciousness of those tots, but the service can be lackluster. I would rather go for lunch than hang out for drinks. Happy hour can be loud and jovial, which I like.

I have a love/like infinitely less relationship with the Bulldog....this extends to the St. Paul location too. Likes: The beer selection, while I think slightly heavy on the imports (no love for local or craft brewers boys?) is kind of incredible. The burgers are fanstastical. The bison burger was a tad on the salty side when I first had one but other than that their burgers are near perfection. All the taste of a greasy spoon type of burger without all that liquid ffat dripping down your arms as you scarf down your meat treat! My favorite one is the rooster. Serioulsy I dream about food a lot since I love to cook and love to eat even more. This burger enters my conciousness and unconciousness weekly. Its a siracha glazed burger with an roasted garlic aioli mayo and homemade asian pickles. Two things: this burger has no cheese. I have never been able to wrap my brain around a burger wihtout cheese. It's just wrong and violates several laws of humankind. This burger does not need it. Second thing: I have a violent hatred for pickles on a burger. Not because of taste but due to texture. Pickles are supposed to be crunchy and crisp. Put them on a burger and they get limp and soggy. Nobody likes anything that's limo....am I right?! Not on this burger. The chefs in this place are magical because the pickles stay crunchy and crisp. IT's what I've always wanted for a burger and never thought I would see. Love it. Love the shuffleboard too...not that I have ever used it but love the idea. Oh and the cupcakes....mmmm. Not a huge cake fan wthter in minature or regular size but I got a free one with a yelp check in so I took one home. So moist and delish. The frosting was even good and I usually do not like frosting either. I'm a cookie or ice cream girl. It was coconut with banana cream in the middle. MMMMM. I need to learn how to make those. i could eat the hell out of a batch of those babies. Dislikes: The service is soooooo spotty. Sometimes I get a super nice, pretty attentive great server. However on the other hand more often than not they have attitude like it bothers them that you are there or that you are not cool enough to be there and that you are bothering them. Forget refils on drinks. It's super hit and miss with the service at this location and the St. Paul one. I also hate how hard it is to find a place to sit. I swear I could go there after the place has closed and still have issues finding a spot. That's just a general complaint. Not really the restaurants fault that the burgers are so tasty you can't find a spot to sit down. All in all this is not the type of place I would come to just hang out and drink but I am in love with the burgers so I enjoy coming here.

I've enjoyed myself at the Bulldog several times, always being impressed by the service and the fantastic selection of taps. However last night, I had a very disappointing encounter with a member of their security team. I had chosen to smoke a joint before I entered the establishment thinking that, as has been the case the thousands of other times I've entered bars high, nobody would care in the slightest about the smell, which usually dissipates relatively quickly. However this night was different. After sitting down at our table, my friend and I were immediately approached by a member of the security team who made a snide unintelligible joke about my fragrance and then proceeded to mock me upon neither understanding nor fully hearing his chide. He then told me that I "reeked of marijuana and would need to go put my weed back in my car"and then reenter the establishment. I of course scoffed at this. He then explained that we would be asked to leave if we did not comply with his demand because the smell would bother other patrons. Now, unless the Bulldog is in the business of employing psychic bouncers who can predict problems before they happen in some kind of "Minority Report" utopia, I don't think I'm out of line in saying that the bouncer had no business telling me to leave because I smelled like weed and it could possibly, at some point in the future, maybe make a fellow patron uncomfortable. At this point I was disgusted with the entire situation, and I decided to leave without being asked. I'm pretty sure the Bulldog is in the business of serving amazing tater tots and craft beer to twenty-something hipsters in northeast, and I'm appalled that smelling like marijuana was grounds for me being treated so rudely and asked to leave. I imagine most of the people in that place get high, including the workers. The only likely explanation for this type of encounter is that the Bulldog has their head stuck so far up their own asses that they think they cater to a clientele that is too refined to have a cavalier attitude about smelling like really good weed or that like 99.99 percent of bars, they hire security personnel who take their jobs too seriously, who are on a constant power trip, and who are trying to over-exert their minuscule authority. Either way I am very disappointed. I will never spend another dollar in this place and will instead take my business to either the Red Stag or New Bohemia.

I met a friend here on a first date. The atmosphere was very comforting. When busy we could hear ourselves speak and when it slowed down it was still pleasant. The food was awesome! I had Tuna Tartare. Scrumptious! A Kramarczuks brat and it was damn good! My date had A Chicago Dog and Truffle Fries. The food is so damn good! Good times and great atmosphere!!!!

I've been going to this place on and of since it opened 7 years ago. The owner Chris is a great guy. I went there recently with a date and had the wings they were pretty solid. The bartender/waitress are the best in the city (or use to be) sadly most of the cool ones are gone. Great place to chill have a brew and talk to people

I always find I can count on the Bulldog for a quick, easy, go-to kind of meal. Well, last night seemed different. I ordered the Green Marvel, my partner ordered the Cubano. They were out of the Cubano!?!?!?! Ugh. Ok, fine, he ordered the BLT. Our food came out fairly swiftly. Everything was good, as usual. The burger was a lot smaller than I remember (which is TOTALLY FINE). The flavor was a tiny bit bland, but overall satisfying. The tots were really good. We got a cupcake to go. The Gingerbread. It sounded, looked and smelled great. One bite in and I got a raisin. Now, I am not sure, but I do not recall Gingerbread containing raisins? I could be wrong. the frosting was the best part of the cupcake. Otherwise, not much ginger at all. Of course I will continue to dine at the Bulldog NE, but last night was a bit lack luster. FYI: Nice staff!

My first experience was a downer when my burger wasn't cooked to order. Whatever, that's not the end of the world (though you'd think the higher prices would quell any issues of quality). Most recently I went to happy hour when my mom was visiting. Our server was rude and gave us the wrong food. She also didn't include the hh prices on our bill. We waited another 30 minutes after she left to "talk to her manager" before we gave up and left, paying full price. I guess she won, but I won't be coming back.

Great food at a bar? Yes, it does exist. After discovering Tuna Tartare here, I must have it at least once a week! Luckily, I have a friend who feels the same way about this dish, so I always have someone to go with. Truffled Tater Tots and Tater Tot Hot Dish are also very good (and I'm usually not a fan of tater tots). Rotating selection of unique cupcakes is great for those who like sugar with their....beer? Bring a sweater even in summer because they don't try to save money on air conditioning and it gets cold. And say hi to the nice bartenders who will create a custom drink for you if you want to try something new.

Decent pub just across the river. We had an amazing time the first visit, but I should chalk that up to our fantastic server and his great recommendations. I wish I remembered his name, but he has dark hair and is on the shorter side. In any case, he was fantastic and brought us perfectly selected beers based on our taste preferences. We also had the nachos, and they were a good bite to snack on. Our second visit, with a few other people, was less than great. It was busy, but that's to be expected on a weekend night. However, the server largely ignored us and made our friends feel as though we hyped the place up far too much. I suppose next time we should expect to get our own beers. I'm sure we'll be back again, only because of the fantastic first experience!

I've been a long time patron of the Bull Dog. Maybe it's just my luck but the last two times I've been there the quality of the food really fell off. Today for lunch the tater tots were an exploded mess of potato bits and the hamburger was a sloppy mess on a stale bun. I've had great meals here in the past, but not recently. It might be time to find another NE Fav for lunch.

Bulldog NE is my go-to place for lunch and dinner. Their black bean burger is PHENOMENAL. I'm an off and on vegetarian, but I can still say this is the best burger I've ever had, vegetarian or otherwise. One drawback is that it can get a little noisy in the main seating area. It IS a sports bar after all (an unusual atmosphere for this girl, by the way). However, they sometimes have the back room open for a quieter dining experience when it is not reserved for a private event - perfect for dinner with my hard of hearing grandpa. Bulldog is also a great place for a drink or two. Might want to leave it at that since the drinks are a little expensive, at least for a college student living near Dinkytown. And the staff might surprise you by suggesting a fun drink like a Grape Tootsie Roll Pop shot. Yum!

Went here on a Saturday night, for a friend's birthday. I called a couple days in advance, and made a reservation. I'm so glad I did. We had a group of 9, and the place was packed like sardines. Without the reservation, there was no way we'd have got a table without a monsterous wait. Service was slow. Not a super big deal, but kinda annoying. I don't think our waitress was slow, rather it was just that packed. We ordered the Truffled Tots as a appetizer, and they were sublime. I ordered the Surley Corned Beef sandwich, and the hubby got a Chicago Italian Beef. My sandwich was moist and loaded with flavor. The hubby liked his sandwich, but it wasn't as great as a Italian Beef in Chicago. One of our friends got a Cuban, but said his was dry and no good. His was the only complaint. They were out of several of the beers the guys wanted, but were happy with the beer they ended up with. My mixed drinks were only ok. There was super loud background noise here. Hard to talk, without yelling at each other. I definitely will return for the great menu. Lots that I want to try, even a Vegetarian and brunch menu.

Great stop in downtown mpls. They have a vast beer selection with decent prices, and quite possibly the best tater tots I've ever had. The brick walls and the feel of the whole place is urban, but it's still really clean and cozy. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Kudos to the Bulldog!

I really want to love the Bulldog because it is so close and the appetizers are great, BUT i feel like the food is pretty lacking and the service can be terrible. The bacon cream cheese wontons are delicious and something I don't always come across at a burger place, the fries are great... but after that things kind of go down hill. I don't love their burgers - they don't taste fresh for whatever reason. Everything else just seems like they are over cooked - as in there are too many competing ingredients that aren't necessarily complimenting one another. Service is a whole different issue - we have gone in when it is literally dead and had the servers just standing around talking at the bar (loudly and about stuff they probably shouldn't be talking about at work). Last time we were there it took us over 5 minutes to get a drink order in despite being sat in the bar after lunch around 2. Two female servers literally just stood there talking about "dates" they went on last night.... I can't say that I won't go back, but this is never a place I bring people to WOW them and never for special occasions.

OK, so I had to come a second time in order to really see if they deliver the goods. The first visit on New Years day was a little wonky. The place was packed and we had a group of 10. The good news was that they were able to seat us in about 15 minutes, the bad news was we were wedged onto a corner table in the back room against the back wall. We were able to converse nicely, but no atmosphere. A couple of the menu items were out, so we all got various varieties of burgers and then waited, and waited, and waited for our food to arrive. After an hour, It finally arrived and a couple of the orders were messed up. My order was the "Chimay Burger" with tots. They were both delicious. The burger was perfectly done and the tots were nice and crispy on the outside and perfectly doughy on the inside. The wait staff fixed the other order errors and even brought out some mini cupcakes (which were super splendid), and took some off the bill for the mistakes. I thought they recovered nicely. Our second trip was just with my wife and I on a Friday noon for lunch. I had "The Lafrieda Burger" (which they were out of on New Years day), and my wife the "Junk Burger" for the second time. The food came in short order and it was delicious. The burger perfectly done (nice and pink), and the fries were nice and crispy. My only minor complaint was that they seem to throw the cheese on the burger just before it came out and it wasn't melted. This happened on New Years day with someone else's order, so I am a little suspicious of the process. After we finished, we threw a couple of shuffleboard disks, and called it a day. Between the two times, the food was really great. Probably one of the best burgers I have had in Minneapolis. I will call the New Years Day issues an anomoly and we will definitely be back and if you are looking for a great burger, stop in here.

Stopped by on a recent Sunday. For you stout beer fans, I ordered the Youngs double chocolate stout. Good but, maybe I'm getting picky, but it seemed kinda flat and dryer compared to other stouts I've had. I guess maybe I'm looking for a little more bite in my beer. My not so scientific review. Staff/ Helpfulness: 5 Facilities: 3 Reason: the restroom: no AC/ smells. Some ventilation please. Food: 4 Went with the Tillamuk burger - Bacon/ cheese - can't go wrong there, right? Fries often suck/ same everywhere. So, I went with the tots. OMG - awesome. Tots with the parmesan cheese sprinkled on top - I'd go back just for these. Was the sauce for the Tots or the burger? not sure. Either way - Eehh. Sauce was OK at best. Dipping in catsup was the better choice for me. Vibe / ambiance: 5 Even on a Sunday at 2pm, still lively, a place with a vibe I'd want to come back to. Beer selection: 4.5. They have not embraced the locals breweries. But, they have as wide of a variety of choices that you'll see anywhere. Return Factor: 5. Very inviting place. Definitely will be back. Overall: I give the Bulldog a 4.5. :)

Love the sliders and the different varieties of tots and fries. However, my all time favorite are the bacon scallion cream cheese wontons. These recently switched the sweet and sour sauce and it's not as good as it used to be. The beer selection doesn't disappoint. The patio is nice, albeit small. The service is friendly and the prices are good.

Having moved to Minneapolis over 2.5 years ago, I've been to the Bulldog numerous times. The food has always been great, the service generally mediocre, but this last visit was horrible. For the record, on this particular visit, our server was good (very friendly, relatively attentive and responsive) and the food was great. I was there with 6 friends watching golf and catching up on a Saturday afternoon for about 4 hours. At the tail end of our visit, when we asked one waitress to find ours so that we could order drinks, the manager arrived at our table. His name was John L. When he arrived my friend asked to order a round of beers, at which point John L. promptly refused to serve us anymore. When we asked why, he said that we were cut off and walked away. At this point we had all probably had 4 beers over 4 hours and actually thought he was kidding when he said that. It wasn't until after one of our group went over by himself and asked for further explanation did John L. say that we "were too loud." Generally, when a group of patrons is too loud, the waitress will come over and ask for the table to keep the other patrons of the restaurant or bar in mind. This would have been perfectly acceptable had it happened, but did not happen. Instead, we had John L., in a super condescending tone and inappropriate manner refuse to serve us anymore. We were having a good time and laughing, and if you read other reviews of the Bulldog NE, you will see that the number one complaint is that it is too loud. It is a bar/restaurant. This should not be surprising to anyone, nor a reason to, without warning, be refused service. Food is 5/5, but passive aggressive and poor management killed the whole experience. The point of a manager in regards to customer service is to ensure that all patrons are having a fun and safe time, by encouraging them to be mindful of the larger group, not by alienating them to the point that they will never return nor would they ever recommend the Bulldog to any of their friends, family, or co-workers. I am extremely disappointed in how this whole situation was handled. Also, naming dropping your brother as the owner does not justify your rude comments or nonexistent management skills, John L.

The Bulldog in NE is one of my favorites. I give it five starts because it's a triple threat: plenty of beer, spectacular food, and a great atmosphere. If you're a beer snob, you'll have enough options to satisfy your taste. Or if you're like me, you'll love browsing the menu for the most alcoholic beer to try, because why waste time when you have some serious drinking to do? The food is amazing. Imagine an episode of Iron Chef where the main ingredient is bar food. They will transform our greasy favorites into a masterpiece. Whether you're a vegetarian or not, try the black bean burger, it'll be all you think about for 5 days. After trying the truffle tots you'll feel the urge to call your mom and curse her out for feeding you absolute trash in her tater-tot hotdish for so many years. But it's not her fault, she just hasn't been to The Bulldog yet. Beyond that, I recommend anything. They have burgers, pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches, a variety of apps great for sharing, and superb cupcakes perfect to end the night on a high note. The atmosphere can't be beat. While the typical crowd on a given night is fun and young, the hipsters of Northeast and bros of Dinkytown tend to go elsewhere. No offense, hipsters and bros, you just make me a little nauseated at times. It's just across the bridge from downtown, a 15 minute walk from Dinkytown, and surrounded by several other good options. So whether you're looking to stay-put for the night, or want to hop from pint to pint, you can always fit The Bulldog into your itinerary.

Don't even mess around and just order the Togarashi burger with Togarashi tots. It is the best thing you will ever eat and you will hope that you die after, except you'll already feel like your in heaven. It seriously will blow you away, that is, if your palate is as sophisticated as mine. I would also recommend, any other burger they have, only at the Nordeast location though. They don't do it the same at the other locations. The black bean burger is extremely good. There appetizers are out of this world, especially the nachos. I don't really mess around with their sandwich's b/c there burgers are tops. Fo...sho! They also make their own cupcakes. Damn. Anywho...they have tons of amazing beer too!!! Nothing like a good ole beer bar. It does get really packed on the weekends. I mainly go there for Happy Hour or Firkin Wednesday's for a happy hour where they tap a cask keg of something delicious.

Our department decided to try the Bulldog as an outing and everyone tried the Truffle Burger. It was good, but they added a little too much truffle oil to mine. Truffle oil is very strong and you only need a few drops to get the point across. The fries were a little cold when I got my order, but they have a great crispiness too them. Lots of cool flat screens all over the bar made it fun, but I think I will try the jalapeno burger next time I go.

Amy, the owner, has been in contact with me since I wrote this review. She has been apologetic, helpful, and concerned about my experience here. It is refreshing to see an owner who takes enough pride in their establishment to try and correct situations immediately and not sweep them under the rug. For that I am upgrading my original 2 stars to 3 stars. I will make sure to revisit The Bulldog in the near future to give them another shot. Kudos to Amy for her response to this.

The Bulldog is a-ok. We went on Friday night (and have been a few times before) and were a little drunk when we got there. It was packed, but we were promptly seated. Service was a little slow. We ordered beers and waited... and waited... to order food. We ordered nachos to start, and everyone ordered dinner. I ordered the hot dish - braised beef, cheese, brussels sprouts, truffle oil, served atop a bed of tots. Our nachos ended up coming out with our dinner, and were pretty soggy (and an ill-timed appetizer by any stretch of the imagination). Our waitress noted it, and asked if we wanted to talk to the manager. No, we would just like to get on with our foodin', thanks. Her manager came over anyway, and offered some free cupcakes. Sweet! I would have preferred on-time nachos since I was starving and drunk, but it says a lot to try to make up for it. Most places wouldn't even note the problem. Our food was good - the rest of my crew ordered burgers. My hot dish was awesome but almost too hearty, if that's a thing. I think I might just hate truffle oil (revoke my yuppie card, stat), but I started to feel sick about halfway through (er, or maybe it was the 3 large vodka bootlegs I had at Brit's happy hour). Overall it's better-than-average bar food. Aside from the nacho mishap, my other complaint resides with the bathroom. I think restaurants should have a minimum number of stalls ratio, similar to the fire code minimum number of exits. There are only two stalls and the bathroom feels like a fiery furnace of hell. I almost vommed after waiting in line in there. Hot + bathroom + drunk = disgusting.

If it were just the sandwich, I'd rate this place higher. If it were an empty restaurant and I could appreciate the interior and have just the sandwich with a beer, I'd probably give it five stars. But such is not the case. The service was prompt: after my middle-aged ass got carded, I sat down at an outdoor table. I love outdoor seating. They took my order within five minutes of arriving, which is pretty impressive--I went on a Sat. night and the place was packed, yet they were still swift and attentive. I saw a "seasonal" pint on the menu and asked about it. My waiter had no idea what I was talking about (staff should study their menus) but he was able to rattle off a couple rotational beers they offer. Nice recovery. I ordered a beer, the corned beef sandwich with fries and a side of mayo. Many places forget the mayo. Many others offer me salad dressing in place of it, which is worse than forgetting. Bulldog N.E. knows what mayo is and brought it on the first try, so, awesome. The fries were toasty and burned, however, and I was offered a replacement batch. Those were less burned but when they cooled they became tough and stale. They either need to change their oil, turn down the heat, or keep an eye on the frying foods in the future. My sandwich was delicious--the brussels sprouts were a welcome surprise!--but 1/3 of the meat fell out of the bun when I picked it up. I like the theme of "abundance" but that's poor presentation, when your meal falls apart like that. Still, I got my beer eight minutes after I sat down, my food seven minutes after that, and the replacement fries five minutes later. I paid my bill 30 minutes after arriving: that is some efficient service! My waiter was attentive without being obtrusive, though he should work on mastery of his domain. And I don't like holding a business accountable for its clientele, but the indoor section was screaming with douchebags getting drunk and watching baseball, shrieking women, people gawking at pedestrians on the sidewalk or just the people sitting outside. I don't know what the Bulldog could do to curb that kind of crap, but I think I'd rather just show up on a slow night.

Great service but the food was mediocre. Had the beef sandwich subpar.

I love the Chicago Dog with tots!!! I've always liked hot dogs, but I'll pass them up for just about anything else at a BBQ. Bulldog knows how to make a dog, plus the tots, you can't go wrong for under $10. I've only had the Chicago Dog, Bison Polish (which I think is only served at the uptown locations), but both have been delicious! The service was probably some of the best service I've ever experienced especially in a chaotic place! This place was packed to the gills yet our server was very attentive and would promptly return fulfilling any of our requests. What I liked most about the services was the employees seemed like they wanted to be there, they seemed happy, and stress free which in my experience is usually the sign of a good management. A long story short, our waiter got a very generous tip from one of the biggest tip nazi's in the Twin Cities. I almost forgot to mention they have homemade cupcakes which I think change each day? Not sure on that one, but they looked delicious along with everything else on their menu, I'll definitely be stopping in again!

I came here a few months ago, drawn by their burgers. Back then i would have given them a solid 4 stars. The burgers are made with American raised Wagyu beef and they're exceptionally meaty and moist. Though recently, i came here for dinner and saw that they had Chicken and Waffles on the menu. Chicken and waffles: a dish i had always meant to try. This earned them that elusive 5th star. Their rendition was fantastic. You get 2 crispy sour dough waffles with 2 pieces of piping hot. beautifully breaded fried chicken. The kicker was the syrup. They have a thyme-infused bacon maple syrup that they slather the entire thing with. Next time (which will be soon, i hope), i will ask for the syrup on the side since I think they went a bit syrup happy. Another thing that i love about this place. The service (in my experience) has always been friendly and prompt. The food is a more upscale take on American Casual fair, but most entrees are still 10 dollars or less.

When you should go to the Bulldog NE - Weekdays, Happy Hours, and Morning Breakfast. It can get pretty packed in there, so in order to manage the crowd I'd opt for the less busy times. The tots are super delicious, covered in garlic truffle oil - in fact, I'm pretty sure everything they serve has garlic in it. The specials are really good, and don't forget to ask about the cupcakes of the week. The drinks are good and the service is has never been bad. It's a great place to hit up during the summer with a few friends because they have some good outdoor seating, but not much for large crowds. Their back room is great for larger get-togethers and I believe it can be rented out.

After a Friday night spent at the 331 to see Charlie Parr my woman and I had worked up a hunger. I suggested we pay a visit to the Bulldog for a plate of Tots, and a Belgian Beer. I really like the Bulldog NE. It reminds me of my college days spent in the local pub with my friends...with the hint of B.O., Abercrombie and Fitch cologne, and stale beer drying on the floor. This place has a number of things going for it. I love beer, and this place has a nice selection of local and import beer. Any place that serves Delirium Tremens on tap certainly has other good choices. I had the St Bernadus Sixtus, which I have never found anyplace else in the Cities. My partner in crime had another Belgian treat that had her cooing into her glass. Our server greeted us with a smile, despite the busy atmosphere, and was very attentive throughout our visit. The Tots are amazing, but certainly not the only thing on the menu. They have Tator Tot hot dish, a wide selection of burgers and other fare...but nothing goes with a belly full of beer like a basket of Tots. Plus, it's just plain fun to say "Tots" after a few beers. The Bulldog is in a great area full of other shops and bars (Whitey's and The Terminal Bar). They have a great outdoor section to enjoy a beer and burger on a warm sunny day. We'll be going back soon.

Cavorting through Nordeast is one of my favorite nights in the Cities. Spending some time at the Bulldog is always a part of one of those nights. As a certified beer snob, their beer list passes the smell test. They have a large selection of beers from around the world, and a good number at reasonable prices. Not all are reasonable, though. For instance, a Young's Double Chocolate Stout is $7 for 10 oz. That's too steep for something with that little alcohol. Of course you have your domestics right along with your Trappist ales, if that is what you're craving on a particular night. So, the takeaway is: While you sip your Saison Dupont, your bros can down a few Mich Goldens. They probably have a nice cocktail list, but I couldn't care less. The Bulldog's bar snacks match up to the quality of their beers. I've had the pleasure of nomming on their tater tots, which are a salty and thoughtful nibble. They are dusted with fennel and served with a garlic aioli.

Love this place! The burgers are great, but my favorite is the Surly braised corn beef sandwich with truffle fries. Good beer and good food, what's not to like.

Fantastic beer selection here. Lots on tap, bartenders will let you sample before you buy. Food is pretty great too, unique apps and burgers (black bean burger with guac is HEAVEN!) This place can get pretty hectic on a Friday or a Saturday, be prepared to wait for a table. But, what's a little wait with a 100 beers on tap for you to try?

When I first turned 21, I thought this place "was awesome." I'm not sure if my attitude changed or the whole vibe of the place did. Not the friendliest staff in the world, mediocre food, and sort of been there done that kind of feel. Pretzels for an appetizer sounds awesome, but just be ready for warm bread. Doesn't taste like a pretzel. Fried Green Tomato Salad is also three bites but the server doesn't warn you about that when you order it for your dinner. It was surprising after seeing the portion size when you order a burger or anything else. I wanted to love it, but it doesn't have that magic carpet ride feeling it once did.

Great beer w/ lots of microbrews and European imports. The food is gourmet bar food (burgers w/ sricha glaze, tater tots with truffle oil, etc). The scene is primarily 27-35 year olds with a mix of singles and couples. The only knock I have on it is that as a pseudo-sports bar the set up for viewing tv's isn't ideal and they never play the live audio feed for games.

Eh. This place is just ok. I've been a few times, but it's not my first choice for places to go. Service is usually on the slow side, the food is ok, and the water usually tastes like fish. If you must go to the Bulldog, I can highly recommend the tots. Their drinks are pretty fab, and taste better than the water. I'm a fan of their patio, so maybe I'll venture on by again when the weather is a little nicer.

So being in Minneapolis for work may not be the most awesome (not that Minneapolis isn't great but more that it's freakin cold!!!) but when I am armed with a good list of places to try, it makes it a little better. I went to bulldogs with one mission: truffle and parm tater tots. Obvs, we started with that. My friend and I pretty much devoured it. The entire basket of it. If I wasn't concerned with being gross and too indulgent, I probably would've ordered the tots as a side to my burger. But you know, I'm a responsible adult and I ordered a salad...bah! I got the spicy burger with siracha (the rooster I think?) and my friend got the on with stilton cheese and we went halfsies. Probably the best decision we made, after the tots, of course. Everything was great, the burgers were cooked exactly to our liking, and the service was spot on. I think this would be a great after work happy hour spot, and would definitely stop by here again.

Arrogant management with no concern for customer satisfaction. My son lives NE and is in grad school at the U of M, and I used to enjoy stopping by when I was in town visiting. No more. I have spent my last dollar at the Bulldog NE and urge all who care about principles and customer care to do likewise.

We were in town for a wedding and wanted to try a local place out. We arrived on a Saturday around 6:30pm and this place was buzzing. It was packed and loud, but we expected that since it is a "bar". The staff were great and attentive. The food was delicious. My wife ate the LaFrieda burger and raved about it (she doesn't normally try anything new so this is sort of an anomaly). I ate the chorizo burger at the recommendation of the server. She was right on, this burger was great. We also had a basket of the tater tots, and some Pina Colada cupcakes. Everything was great. We would definitely recommend this place for some good eats. They even have a shuffle board table for passing time while you wait.

I will never go to Bulldog NE again. Or at least not in the near future. I met up with some friends for drinks and food, and ordered a burger. I got my burger some time later and started eating. A couple of bites in, I realized my burger was not only under-cooked, but raw. This was difficult to see because it was so dark in there. I finally flagged down my server and sent the burger back. It came back out shortly after--the same burger. They had put my burger I had eaten off of back on the grill and re-plated with the same bun I had eaten off of. I began eating again, only to realize my burger was STILL raw. I flagged my server down again and asked for the check. I was so disgusted I couldn't stand to be in there anymore. At least the manager covered the meal I never got to eat, as well as my beer. He offered to buy me a different meal, but there was no way I'd be trusting any food from that kitchen.

Great food, fun atmosphere. With so many reviews, I imagine just about everything has been said. The food here is great! I wish they would expand the under-$6 beer selection. I was here yesterday and the only drinkable tap options under $6 were Two Hearted and Summit EPA. Great beers, but more affordable selection would be nice. The hot dogs here are really good. The Chicago Dog is my personal favorite. And for $5.50, you get a pretty good sized meal. Don't leave here without trying the wasabi fries. They are amazing, and for some reason not on the menu at other Bdog locations. Side note: the back room is a great party space. No minimum and no room rental fee. I had a work event here recently, and it was a real hit.

I'm giving this place a three star (2 if my husband didn't yell at me) simply because I've had mixed experienced at this place. I was once in love with this place. When I moved to Minneapolis, it was the closest restaurant/pub experience to Churchkey (DC) and to England (tons of pubs) and it quenched my thirst for excellent beers, especially dark and powerful porters/stouts and my general need to experiment with beers. Good tots and burgers, but not cheap. This place gets crazy crowded at night and on the weekends (I don't know why?). Nice atmosphere, if you like big TVS in a bar. Otherwise, if you're looking for a more intimate and personal setting, go somewhere else.

Went back a few times and have to bump up my rating for the huge portions of taters in tot or fry form at happy hour ($2 off select apps and that left those options costing me a whopping $2 each, on different visits of course), the channel selection which had much less ADD going on: only two programs on at one time on any of the TVs. I'm guessing that was due to my visits taking place on weekdays. The small $6 hotdog I could whip together myself though, I have to say pass on those since they cost twice as much as they should. The beer selection is still quite compelling too, needless to say.

I like to refer to the Bulldog Northeast as the "fancy Bulldog." It's difficult to find seating sometimes, always packed to the gills, and with good reason: huge beer selection and a foodie-style menu. And oh, the foodie-style menu. Which of four tater tot styles would you like? How about some cupcakes? Maybe some mussels, some tuna tartare? Yes, this is a bar. It's definitely a bar, first and foremost. But they take their food seriously -- almost to comic effect, as my husband can live out his soul food fantasies with chicken & waffles while I eat a snooty Trattoria burger. And super-bonus, they tend to not be out of the beers I want. And super-super-bonus, they are constantly bringing in new bottles. It's a never-ending parade of beer joy. Really, of the three Bulldog locations, this is the one where you could bring someone with the intention of impressing them. Y'know, if you can find a seat, anyway.

I have come to the decision that if someone were to drench a boot in truffle oil I would devour it. So it makes sense that I am obsessed with the Bulldog NE, what with their truffle tots, fries, chicken nuggets, and my absolute favorite, the truffle burger. Last time I got that truffle burger I could not hold still as I was eating it because I was so excited. I was literally bouncing in my chair. One of my co-diners noticed and was like "you are so excited to eat that burger. It's awesome!". Yes. It is awesome. The first time I came to the Bulldog I assumed it would be a typical bar with typical bar food - burgers, fries, etc. I was so impressed at the size of their menu, and so many unique options. The burger page alone probs has 15 varieties. Plus they've got pages and pages of beers available. Also there are cupcakes. CUPCAKES.

At the manager's suggestion, I went back and tried the same Polpettone another day -- We'll just chalk up the first one to an abberation. It was just fine the second time around. And, the beers remain just as tasty. (I frequent the St Paul Lowertown version of this place a fair amount as well, and both are consistently good.)

You know how in "Shaun of the Dead", Shaun figures he and his friends can just wait out the zombie situation at the Winchester Pub? That's how I feel about the Bulldog NE. Looking for a pint later in the evening? Looking for a dinner out? Looking to stave off the zombie invasion? I firmly believe the Bulldog NE could satisfy any of these nicely. For the beer nerds out there, the Bulldog offers a formidable selection of local taps - think Bell's, Rush River, Summit - and Belgian beers, some on tap, even more in a bottle. Everything is very reasonably priced between $4 and $6 per glass. You can get Saison Dupont by the glass here, people! The food is essentially bar food, albeit an exceptional step up from the usual underwhelming greasy burger and frozen fries approach that you might find at certain other bars in and around the area. I have never been let down by their burgers (be sure to try the Rooster, glazed in sriracha and topped with spicy housemade pickles!), and the hot dog baskets provide an amusing departure from fare typically found around town. The entrees are consistently pretty good, but the burgers always seem to win. Incidentally, they make the most addictive truffle chicken nuggets. Service is, by and large, good. Bulldog NE tends to be quite busy in the evenings, so it may be a while before you see your server, but rest assured that they'll be fun and helpful when they finally come by. They have a marvelous patio during the summer which is not only quieter than the actual restaurant, but ensures people watching comparable to the State Fair.

Went to the bulldog with a group of people about 2 weeks ago and was ok . We had an issue because they did not have any chairs available outside because of the chair limit the beer selection was ok . the service was much faster than the lower town bulldog. the outdoor patio was very nice touch. it is a great place for people watching..

Here's the key to a good burger experience at the Bulldog NE: ask for your burger done one stage rarer than you would normally. Burgers: I don't know why they can't just cook it like you ask, but I've found that I am much happier if I just order medium rare and don't ask questions when it comes out medium, instead of ordering medium and getting my delicious Kobe beef overcooked. I think it's probably because the place is always so busy - it's hard for the cooks to keep track of what's what... Beer: The beer selection is very nice - I don't really care about Belgian beers, but for folks who do, the beer selection is great. I'd give them six starts if I liked Belgian beers and Yelp allowed it. Their wine list is actually quite good. I don't know why you'd order wine with a burger, but you'd be set if you wanted to. Fries: Get the ones with truffle oil and parmesan and you might even forget that you wanted your burger a little less done. BLT: OMG is what it should be called. Add basil and balsamic aioli to freaking delicious bacon and this is hands down the best BLT I've had. Service: It's gotten better since they opened, partly I think because they aren't so jam-packed. Sometimes it takes ages to get a menu, sometimes they don't bring water, and once you do get to order the wait can seem endless, especially if you're hungry. But when they aren't busy, you can expect prompt and attentive, if a little bit surly, service. What I do: Order my beer and burger as soon as the waiter comes to my table, minimizing the time it will take to get my food. Then, while waiting (beers usually arrive promptly), go play that crazy hand-shuffleboard. Or watch sports. Very pleasant. Hint: I rarely go during lunch, but if you do, check out their special: a pint and a Chicago dog for $5. Sweet deal!

When I lived in ne Minneapolis I used to go all the time to the Bulldog- here in California I still miss their truffle fries! Great food and great selection of beer. The one downside to the place is that it can get VERY busy, making service a little slow and conversation hard because of the high volume, but that should be expected in a place that serves wonderful food and drink.

I came here because I wanted a beer and some good pub fare and was really impressed with their beer list online. This is definitely a cool place with a nice variety of people. The Atmosphere: The interior design of this place is beautiful. There are brick walls, a high ceiling, and lots of dark wood. The space is divided into two rooms connected by a hallway. In the first one, there's a large bar in the center of the room and a variety of tables and tall chairs in the rest of the space. It looked like there were lots of regular-height tables in the other room. I came here on a Saturday around 5 pm, and the place was about half to 2/3 full. There were empty seats and plenty of room to move around, but it felt lively. The clientele was a combination of small groups of friends, couples (of all ages), a few individuals at the bar, and there were even several families having a good meal. The clientele was largely on the mid 20s-30s side. Although I saw a few groups of students, as well as some older adults, I'd say it was mostly young working professionals. The place filled up, and by the time I left at 7:15, most of the seats were taken but it wasn't overly crowded (there also weren't any major games on that night!). Beer: Fantastic, extensive beer list! I love that their beer list is all online and very detailed. So often I try to decide where I want to go, only to find a bar/restaurant doesn't list its beer online! I got a Young's Chocolate Stout followed by a Rush River Amber. The bartender who served me was able to rattle off all of the regional brews without hesitation. I was also really impressed by the fact that their beer was served at the correct temperature. My Young's was definitely around the 50 degree mark, as it should be, unlike how beers are served at many places, where the belief is the colder, the better. Food: I got the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of fries. The fries were really good--crispy skin and soft insides. The pulled pork was okay but nothing amazing. Interestingly, it really was a burger--pulled pork pressed into a patty, unlike most pulled pork, which is loose. The meat was very tender and clearly high quality, so I liked that. However, there was very little BBQ flavor/sauce, so it was drier than I expect pulled pork to be. It also ended up being really greasy--the oil was all over my hands by the time I was halfway through it, and I think that's also why it filled me up quickly. So while it was worth a try, I wouldn't have it again the next time I come. Misc: There's a large shuffleboard in the main room against one of the walls... I think that's a Minnesota thing. There are at least six TVs in the main room, average size and not particularly large. I wouldn't come to this place with the main intention of watching a game because the TVs are awkwardly placed. When you face the bar, you have to look across it to the other side of the room to watch the TV there, and because the TVs are a bit small, it's not a great view. Another option is to turn sideways and watch it, again at a bit of a distance, which is awkward. Or you could turn your back to the bar and face the wall behind you (I'm guessing this is what happens when people are really into a game), but then you can't enjoy sitting and facing the bar, so what's the point of sitting at the bar then? I think it's great that the TVs don't dominate the space, unlike many bars, so this would be the kind of place I would come to for drinks and to talk with friends, but not to catch a major game. Finally, the women's bathroom was clean and well maintained.

Creature of habit that I am, I wanted to return to the Ginger Hop for some type of Sunday brunch, but they weren't open at the respectable hour of ten, and we were working up an appetite. We were hesitant to try the Bulldog, thinking it was a glorified sports bar (see my review of Major's to reveal my bias in this regard). We, however, were delighted by a spicy, bar-made bloody mary (22 oz. if memory serves) complete with a Kramaraczuk's beefstick. While we waited, we read the beer menu. Very impressive. I especially liked the simple description of the brewing process and styles. The great thing about trying out new places with someone else - especially someone with a lighter appetite like my wife - is that I get to try more things. I had the Chorizo Frittata and my wife had the Asparagus Frittata. My Chorizo Frittata was okay - kind of a weird flavor that I wouldn't describe as seasoning. The cheese was simple processed cheese, the kind you find pre-shredded on sale at Cub for 2 bags for $2. The asparagus frittata, however, was very good. The chevre on it was flavorful and held together, as opposed to my vaguely cheddar blob. Overall, the combination of outdoor seating, delicious bloodies, interesting beer menu, and one redeeming dish means that I would check out the Bulldog NE again.

Food has gone downhill big time!!!!!!!!!!! Had the $9 special chard salad and it was about 4 bites worth. Then had a designer hot dog and couldn't believe it was a boiled Oscar Meyer Wiener for $5.50! I don't know what's happened but the food sounds so much better than it is. :(

Tots! mmmm. Last night in a picturesque snow fall my friend took me to The Bulldog, a couple blocks from her super-cute neighborhood. It was a great atmosphere and the tater tots were delicious. I had a hot dog as well which was just so-so, but I really liked our trip there. PS I also loved the glow-in-the-dark straws.

All the beers, ALL OF THE BEERS. It's almost too many beers, it almost stresses me out just looking at the sea of taps. Sometimes it's a good idea to just take a deep breath and order a flight. The service here is ok, pretty much middle of the road. My one request is that if you're running a place that is well known for its food, you better make damn sure your waitstaff really knows about the food, and doesn't just use generic answers for your questions. Speaking of the food, I feel like it kinda lost its touch after Landon left a few years ago. Still ok, but nothing I go out of my way for anymore. Shuffleboard is awesome. Nice touch.

I love me some Bulldog... 3 word combo: Truffle Tator Tots... enough said! I am OBSESSED with them. For $5 you get 'heaven dumplings' and they are amazing! Many have great reviews of their burgers, and the selection is pretty original, but in a familiar way. They have a great happy hour, so make sure you head there around happy hour with a group of people... amazing deals. They have a great selection of tap beers, great selection of food. This location is a little smaller compared to the other Bulldogs in the area but still perfectly cozy.

Bold statement of the night: I think the Bulldog has the best burgers in Minneapolis! And with tots on the side? Oh man. Besides the amazing food (sandwiches, hot dogs, mussels, burgers, fish tacos), they have an amazing beer selection. Usually I am content with a Miller Lite, but when I go to the Bulldog, I go big & venture out of my comfort zone. Fun spot to go day or night!

I was driving around Northeast Minneapolis, starving, and I passed by here and thought "what the heck." I had to park off on a side street about 2 blocks away because I didn't have change for a meter, but it's in a trendy part of town- so I didn't mind the walk. I had heard good things about their burgers- so that's what I went for. It was 2PM on a Sunday and the place was about 75% full. I think that kind of speaks to the quality of the place. I sat at the bar and only had a short wait before being greeted by the bartender. I ordered the Peanut Butter Bacon burger with fries. The fries were like Boardwalk fries- extremely good. The burger had a ton of homemade Maple Peanut Butter, thick bacon, an egg, a wonderful bun, and 1/2 lb of Kobe beef. It was like the perfect breakfast sandwich. I just may up this to five stars if I ever get to go there with someone else- somehow the experience is always a bit diminished when I go places by myself.

Great place to get some pub grub. Any kind of sandwich, burger, or hot dog you can think of will be available at this place at a good price. They've got TVs and live music and much of the space inside is taken up by a bar. On the whole, I like Bulldog NE, but I only felt compelled to give it 3 stars because I strongly prefer the Bulldog on Lyndale. Oddly, the thing holding Bulldog NE back is how new and sterile it feels compared to the Lyndale location which feels much more broken in.

The burgers were not good enough to meet our (admittedly high -- after reading all about their burgers) expectations. We went there around 6pm and it wasn't very crowded but the service was still quite slow. The place looks nice for a beer and some appetizers in the afternoon..

My favorite burger in the twin cities. I love every burger but I have a soft spot for the sweet, spicy and crunchy Rooster Burger. If you order anything else, you won't be disappointed. I was so surprised to see that this establishment only has 3 stars overall. Maybe it's the people with palates that enjoy Perkins? My only friend that ever disliked this place prefers bread and butter to any gourmet restaurant, so that's the only explanation I can think of. The service is definitely better than average but isn't anything over the top. Who cares? I just want that delicious burger and not to be ignored. And Bulldog NE takes care of these basic needs.

Jukebox? Shuffleboard? Amazing beer selection? Tater tots? Attractive crowd? Bulldog, you must have read my mind on things I love in this world. Great spot in a great hood - Bulldog is a perfect place for happy hour, date night, dinner out with a group or a place to watch the game. I like the laidback sportsbar vibe of this place. My only gripe is ... they need to figure out acoustics. It's noisy from the crowd but you can't really hear the music. This could be remedied somehow, I'm sure.

I'm so bummed to see the less than excited reviews on yelp. I love the Bulldog NE better than either of the other two, and better than almost any burger (shamrock/the nook are the ones I prefer more). They make their burgers with Kobe beef, the best beef you can get, which results in the most delicious juicy burger you can imagine. Plus, they have unique topping combinations and you can get tots instead of fries. I love the smoked tallamook and bacon burger. Simple bacon and cheese but delicious all the same. My boyfriend gets the rooster every time and it's fantastic each time. I've tried several other burgers and each has been great. You just haven't to try it. They also have a great beer selection and CUPCAKES!!! Free awesome cupcake on your birthday but worth paying for if it's not your birthday. TRY IT!

Went there on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Parking is a little bit of a pain but able to get a table right away. Service was good. Had the beer cheese pretzels which were only so-so (the pretzels tasted very bread-y, almost like a croissant). I had the smokey cheddar and bacon burger, which was done just right (ordered medium rare, arrived medium rare; that gets you a star right there). The burger was better than average but just short of outstanding. We also had the tots with sriracha mayo, which were really tasty and we'd definitely order again. My wife liked her salad with the chevre. For dessert we had a couple cupcakes (my wife loved hers, I thought mine was pretty average). Overall this seems like a great place for creative, upscale bar food. We will definitely come back (if for nothing else than the tots).

We stopped in here after the Stone Arch Art Festival. The place was pretty dead, but it was late afternoon Saturday. The service was prompt and the food was actually really good. I had a Philly Cheesesteak that was huge and done pretty well. I really liked the feel of this place - and it wasn't just because of the air conditioning. Really high ceilings, plenty of seating (and some outside as well).

A recent experience at The Bulldog NE provided an exciting and surprising combination of vegan and vegetarian versions of upscale pub food with some beautifully-plated, tasting-size dishes that would more likely be found in a fine dining establishment. You don't often find a place that perfects tater tots as well as caponata with black olive couscous, but The Bulldog somehow does just that. And the result is brilliant. "Sophisticated tater tot" is sort of an oxymoron, but Bulldog's appetizers include tater tots ($4-$6) done a number of ways with savvy flavors including fennel dusted with tarragon aioli and truffled with parmesan cheese. The Togarashi tots are done with a Japanese spice blend, including red chili powder and a sprinkling of black sesame seeds, and served with wasabi mayo. These are addicting. The majority of the menu is burgers, hotdogs and sandwiches served with great potato chips in a basket lined with red-and-white checkered paper, or you can upgrade to excellent skin-on, sea-salted fries for $1. The Not Dog ($4.50) is a vegan dog you can have prepared any of the ways offered on the menu. The Samo is an amazing blend of flavors with rooster glaze, horseradish mustard, sweet and spicy pickles and crushed potato chips. The Chicago is the perfect classic with yellow mustard, bright green relish, sport peppers, tomato, onion and celery salt. It almost brought a tear to the eye to have this iconic taste vegan style! The veggie Portabella sandwich ($9) is a wonderful roasted mushroom cap with pequillo pepper, tomato, lettuce and red onion on a soft ciabatta bun. (Can hold the goat cheese and have them not grill the bun with butter.) And (cue the trumpets) I've found a new favorite veggie burger. The Bulldog's version is a house-made black bean burger with guacamole, sprouts, tomato, pickled onions and adobo sauce (a spicy mayo) secured with a green olive on a pick. ($10) The patty was perfect - spicy, firm and crispy on the outside - however, it's not vegan as it contains some egg as a binder. So after we're happily sated with pub fare, we notice an interesting veggie option on the daily specials menu. The chilled caponata (Mediterranean cooked vegetable salad), with capers and olives, was stacked atop a circle of couscous with olive oil drizzled across the plate, sided with heirloom tomatoes and topped with a few fried chick peas. Beautiful and delicious, the dish transported us to a totally different dining experience. The daily dessert - strawberry shortcake - was equally artistic with strawberries in aged balsamic reduction, vanilla cake and Grand Marnier cream. And each was just $5! The chef is to be applauded for bringing affordable, sophisticated and creative dishes to a menu that comprises mostly burgers and fries and to an establishment known for its wide selection of tap beers. The Bulldog NE is located at 401 East Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis. It's a relaxed pub atmosphere with a center bar, exposed brick walls, antique tin ceiling, flat screen TVs and very popular sidewalk dining. The Bulldog Uptown has a somewhat different menu and is located at 2549 Lyndale Ave. South in Minneapolis. For more information: examiner.com/x-10371-Min…

Upscale bar food in a great space. I've been in a number of times and have continuously been impressed by what this place can do with very simple food. It's not where I go when I want to get crazy on a Friday night. It's where I go when I'm having a chill evening and want some delicious late-night eats. Although: If you stop in too late, the place is loud as hell and it gets difficult to hold a conversation with anyone but the person immediately next to you. The beer brat with spicy mustard relish is fantastic, and comes on a thick poppy seed bun. I also love the Tillimook cheddar burger. It's probably one of the better, if the not the best, bacon cheeseburgers I've ever had. Great chili, as well, very spicy. I can't decide if I like the tots or the seasoned fries more...guess I'll have to go back for further research. Almost forgot: The pretzels are perfect snack food. Warm, salty and accompanied by dipping sauces. Mmmmm.....

I love this location! The staff is very friendly and willing to talk. Food is great. Drinks were awesome. The down side is sometimes the crowd from Ground Zero can get out of hand and bother the outside seating.

We went to The Bulldog after coworkers raved about it, and I'm glad we did. For this genre of restaurant, the food is well priced, well prepared and creative. I love that they offer tater tots as an option! Service was a little sporadic, but it was a very busy Friday night and I had to remind myself that we were not in a fine dining restaurant. The server was very pleasant and knowledgeable, if not a little over worked having to take care of a large group seated outside in addition to her tables inside. The truffled fries are great, the pickle plate reminded me of an English pub and the burgers were excellent. Caesar salad with fried anchovies could have been better. Dressing was bland to say the least and I prefer not to cut my salad. Fried anchovies are unique and with a better dressing this could be a stellar Caesar. Will definitely return and will order the Red Velvet cupcake before dinner so they won't have run out by the time we are ready for dessert. The lemon raspberry cupcake with cream cheese icing was a good substitute. My only real complaint, and yes I know it's a bar, is how loud The Bulldog was. A jukebox (I think) was playing and I could never tell what the song was because all we could hear was the relentless pounding of the bass. Music was not to be enjoyed, but served only to make the people at neighboring tables scream at each other to be heard in conversation.

The Bulldog NE is a hybrid - part young, professional crowd, part beer lover crowd, kind of a gourmet bar food place...and that makes it hard to put them in a box. Which is good or bad, depending on what you are looking for. The beer geek in me likes their selection but for some reason, Bulldog doesn't quite have the street cred and vibe that other beer places have. The food is good but the menu is just a bit of a miss for me. It might be the hot dogs? Love the location and overall, I like the Bulldog. Very different from the Lyndale location and I've not yet been to the new St. Paul location. On a side note, I had my best unplanned beer experience last year at the Bulldog NE. We walked in one night and the special cask beer that night was Bell's Two Hearted. For anyone who follows this stuff, anything by Bells served cask style is a big treat and the beer doesn't last long. This experience pushed my rating up to a 4.

Another gem in Northeast Minneapolis. The nice thing is, it's really close to me, which makes it even that much better. As I wander the streets of my new city, trying new places, I am enjoying all the pleasant surprises, like this. At first look, it looked just like a regular sports bar, and the great thing, it is a sports bar, just not your a regular one. There are screens with sports on them, high tables with high bar chairs. But the food, it's no ordinary bar food. In case you were wondering, they have burgers, but they're not your everyday burgers. Neither is anything else on the menu. Let me tell you, this is no ordinary bar, yet you get that bar experience, just with better food, and not too expensive!

I came here for the burgers. Word was they had fantastic burgers. I knew full well the cook behind said fantastic burgers had been fired, but I was led to believe the burgers remained top notch. I was disappointed. I'm not saying they were bad, just that I was disappointed. Here's the thing: if you don't ask me how I want my burger cooked, and you bring it to me "well done", fair enough. But if you go and ask me, and I tell you I want it "medium", and you bring it to me "well done", we have a problem. Had I not been so hungry, and had the service been any more prompt, I would have sent it back. They did have some good appetizers, a good selection of beer and good prices. I can't entirely write the place off, but I didn't leave very satisfied on my first visit.

I feel the time is now right to write my Bulldog NE review. I find that the reviews tend to be all over the board. I have been there about 15 times so here it goes... It is nice in there for a bar. Cool ceiling. While from time to time the patrons tend to be a bit douchebaggy, I have never had any problems. For the most part the servers have all been fine. As for the food stick to the burger and tots and you should be happy. The Rooster burger is one of my favorite burgers ever. Beer selection is good. I have only tried the burgers and tots and cannot speak to anything else, although I have been with people on two separate occasions when they have ordered the tot dish and been disappointed. A story: One night at the Bulldog with two friends, ordered a burger after a couple of beers. My burger was pretty much completely raw, only the edge was cooked. I like my burgers medium, but cold raw meat is a no. Informed the waitress who looked at it and agreed with me and put in an order for another one. My second one came a few minutes later, heated, but still raw. I cut it down the middle, (I was learning.) I informed the waitress again, she took it back. At this point a manager came out and asked if I wanted to try a burger a third time and obviously I would not be paying for it. They bought the third burger and it was perfect. And the big bonus is that my and two friend's meals and 6 beers were all free, without putting up a big fuss. So I will give them props that they turned a bad experience into a good one!

Subpar bar food. Had major stomach pains after I ate here. The fish tacos were way too spicy and the truffle oil tots are gross (and I love me some tots!). Staff is nice and attentive. Come here for a drink but do not eat here.

I love coming here for the laid-back atmosphere, the people watching, the tater tots, and the wide selection of alcoholic beverages. The staff is always great and the waitress we had this past weekend went the extra mile and brought my friend a glass of milk for her cupcake. How many bars can give you both a cupcake and a glass of milk? Then again, how many people order a cupcake and milk at a bar...

Soo disappointed they didn't have cupcakes! I went to this particular location just to get a cupcake with my beer. I guess I'll stick with the Lyndale location and cheese curds with my beer. I love the variety of beer here. It's a great place to meet friends.

The Bulldog NE is one of my boyfriend's fav brunch spots and his sister lives within walking distance so I've been here a few times. It's super crowded during brunch on the weekends so be prepared to wait a bit for a table. And to be close to your neighbors. Also be prepared for a noisy atmosphere -- in an "everyone's having a good time and there's nothing to dampen the noise" kind of way. And don't expect Michelin star service. Do expect way better than average bar food, a wide variety of (uncommon) beers (on tap), and delicious Bloody Marys. The food can be a bit inconsistent but it's still high caliber eats. The first time I was at The Bulldog I had a sandwich and salad that blew me away. Everything seemed so fresh and homemade! I ordered the same sandwich a second time and it was good but not as great. On that occasion my BF's sister ordered the cornmeal pancakes. After tasting one I had to have more and they were nice enough to let me order just one pancake. If you like corn(meal) you will LOVE these pancakes. Soooo freakin good. But the best part was the bacon maple syrup -- with real chunks of bacon. So I was mildly disappointed when I ordered the pancakes on my last visit and the syrup was decidedly free of bacon chunks. Still good, but missing something. And that something was bacon. Also, my BF's sister mentioned that the andouille sausage used to be delicious but wasn't as good recently. So she asked the server how the sausage was these days and he said, "I don't know, I'm a vegetarian." OK, all of us at the table have worked in restaurants and sorry dude, that is not an acceptable answer. It's your JOB to know about the food. Or at least lie and say you do. Slightly inconsistent food and service aside, I would come back to The Bulldog again and again for the Bloody Marys. This is the place that made me a believer. They really do em right here. And it's been rumored that one of the bartenders knows how to make a Caesar (it's Canadian, look it up). Other things working in The Bulldog's favor: outdoor patio (let's revisit this selling point in about six months), composting (YAY! says this Seattle transplant), and parking lot (always useful in NE). I don't know how The Bulldog gets at night (chill, I imagine?) but I know I will be back for brunch and Bloodys sometime soon.

Found The Bulldog N.E. on a Sunday afternoon whim and so glad we did. On Sunday's there is a hotdog & beer special so we figured what the heck. I love pulled pork so I enjoyed the Oinker and my siracha bacon lover ordered the bacon wrapped and deep fried hot dog with onions...yum! They were both delicious and the Summit Pale Ale went well alongside it. Nice bartender too! We will go back again. Craftbeer selection was ok, would love to see more local beers since Minneapolis has great choices.

I expect bars/restaurants to be busy on Saturdays - I really do, but when I found myself at Bulldog NE this past Saturday at 5:30, I really thought I'd beat the dinner crowd. I was wrong. The place was P.A.C.K.E.D.! Good thing - there was a good blend of people there. Young, old, college profs, college kids, men, women...You saw it all there. The food borders bar food and upscale fare: my chicken sandwich was prepared with brie and mango chutney. It was super delish! My hubs got a portabella burger that was dynamite. The not great part? The service took forever. I had our name down for a table, but when two spots opened up at the bar, we went for it. We sat there a good 15 minutes before the bartender even looked our way. There were three gentlemen behind the bar, and despite one of them being right in front of us for a good 5 minutes, he said he couldn't help us. Either he was too busy, or maybe was assigned to only one section of the bar. Either way, it was somewhat odd, especially for a place that likely makes most of it's money from the liquor sales. Good selection of beers and wine. The menu stretched from won-ton appetizers to regular ol' sandwiches. It had something for everybody. The food and atmosphere is great, but I think next time I'm going to try the one in Uptown to see if the service is better there.

I never planned to go here but It happened to be the closest restaurant after I found out that the one restaurant I was planning to go to doesnt open till 4pm on Sundays. I didn't go in expecting too much since I didn't read the reviews prior to going, but WOW can I say that I was impressed! My girlfriend ordered the junk burger and I ordered the other burger(I forgot), and we were both pleasantly satisfied! Not to mention the service was attentive and quick! The only bad thing about my experience there was that the Gophers lost to the Hawkeyes :( Oh well, I'll definetely be back!

I've been here before sampling their wide array of beers on tap, but today I went for the food...burgers specifically. Although the service was a little slow, it was worth the wait!! I tried their version of a bacon cheeseburger (one of my favorite comfort foods), and it was the best I've EVER had! Thick slabs of bacon and smoked cheddar cheese...yum! The menu's variety is certainly tempting, but trust me...Try a burger!

I had the rooster burger - very tasty. Some have commented it's over-priced but I don't agree... it's not Chillis or TGIFridays.... you're paying for something unique with quality ingredients. Decent but not outstanding service.

Five words: rooster burger + truffle Tator tots!! The Kobe beef they use for the burger is fantastic and the truffle oil on the tots is not overwhelming. I've tried a few of their other burgers but nothing compares to the RB. I would say they have interesting appetizers but are mostly worth trying during happy hour.

Had been a while since I'd been here -- memories of decent gastropub fare. Stopped in with family for brunch and wow, good stuff. Biscuits and gravy were some of the best in town, lots of gluten free options for the wife and the kids loved the french toast and waffles. Service was average. Rest of the menu looked promising and a great choice for a brunch option, which I wouldn't have guessed going into it. NOTE: this location is not owned by or affiliated with any other Bulldog location. Probably explains the pleasant surprise.

Working at Smokeless Smoking just 2 blocks down from here allows me to patron this joint very frequently. I have always been impressed with the selection of food from typical bar food (with a more modernized delicious twist) to abstract creations that work surprisingly well *cough cough Peanut Butter Bacon Burger cough cough* Always greeted by at least half of the staff when i walk in regardless of how busy it is. good food great staff and very appealing atmosphere. PS vape friendly !!

Came here about a year ago while in Minneapolis with my 10-year-old son before a T- Wolves game. It was a Sunday it was crowded, explained we were heading to the game and they seated us immediately. The host? I hesitate to use the title maître d' at a bar and Grill treated my son so kindly they won us over before we order. I noticed a Bells Hop Slam tap which had to be the last one in the city's. I indulged And the Host brought my son a craft root beer on the house! As if that wasn't enough after our meal he gave us both these unbelievable cupcakes. Can't say enough good things about this spot. Other restaurants in the city's could learn a thing or two from the Bulldog NE. we left smiling and we tell everyone how great we were treated. Sometimes it's the small things!

We had a good time at The Bulldog -- it makes a good attempt at being a solid beer bar with good food. The beer selection is solid. I was pleased to see taps from some of our favorite breweries all over the country and finally settled on a Left Hand Milk Stout, which was fresh and beautifully poured. Food-wise, again, pretty good. I had the deep fried caramel roll, which was sticky and beautifully made, with a super deep caramel sauce that struck the right balance between sweet and that almost burnt (almost!) deep caramel flavor. Two of us got the chicken and waffles, which were very good. The chicken actually had a little kick to it spice-wise, and our server very appropriately told us that there was a 30 minute time on that dish. Service was good. Minor point: when I drained my water glass, a refill was not forthcoming. Instead of refilling my glass, someone just came and took my empty. I then drank my husband's water, and the same thing happened. Apparently, if you want to hang onto your water glass, you need to request to do so. In all, I thought it was just fine for a place to grab a beer and a bite to eat. But there was nothing here that makes me think I would crave that and make a special trip just for it.

I really appreciate Bulldog N.E.'s recent efforts in expanding their vegetarian/vegan offerings. Last night I dined here with a "mixed" group of veg-heads and omnivores, and everyone left very happy and very full. As we came through the door, the host asked if we would like to see the separate vegetarian menu. That experience is a rarity in this town and the gesture was much appreciated. The vegetarian menu now includes a separate section of vegan burgers, so you don't have to ask as many questions. (All veggie patties are house-made; some contain egg and some do not.) The Not Dog made Chicago style is really delicious, and you can upgrade the chips to tots if you'd like. Now if they would just offer vegan cupcakes! I'm sure their talented baker would do a great job with them. This restaurant is also very dog-friendly, so when the weather is nice you can hang out with your pup on the patio.

Drop that cup cake! This is how I will remember my Bull Dog dining experience - one that started out in cramped seating to celebrate my daughter's birthday. After dining on somewhat over priced burgers ($12 each) delivered to us between lengthy disappearing acts from our server when our beverages ran low, we broke out small gifts followed by cup cakes. All of a sudden, our server materialized from out of nowhere after descending from an unseen perch upon our table to admonish us - you can't eat those here! The owner would be very upset! Um, ok - it's for her birthday...it's not like cake is served here. We sat in stunned silence for a moment and returned the uneaten cup cakes to their plastic Cub Foods container and that was that. Our server left us for another lengthy period of time until she decided to deliver our $68 tab for the 4 of us. While other restaurants have always been accommodating and flexible for birthdays and similar events, this one lived up to its name - a grumpy, stubborn, and inflexible dog of a somewhat hipster eating establishment.

I went to the Bulldog on my lunch break with my army buddies. All four of us were in uniform. We ordered the Bacon Wontons and they were seriously yummy! Our server was humorous and attentive. Our burgers were cooked to perfection. My rooster with sriracha was fingerlickin good! I have to say the peanut butter bacon burger was not my favorite. They aren't the cheapest (about $12 per burger) but we (Military) get a 15% off discount! I'm definitely a fan

Great place! I ordered the steak salad which was huge and my date got the bowl of mussels. Our server was great and the bartender was awesome and took time to show us/tell us how to play shuffleboard. I liked that there was an eclectic group of people there, from business dress to hockey jersey wearing customers. Will be back!

The food was great, I had a burger with fries. BUT! The Service was TERRIBLE!! The waitress we had did a terrible job. 1. Did not fill our drinks and I had no straw. Who drinks with Ice hitting their teeth? I had tell the gentleman that gave us our food 20 mins later to fill our drinks and he had to tell our waitress how to do her job. SHE RAN to our table and grabbed my cup to fill it. 2. Did Not come back and check on us on how are food tasted or if we liked it. 3.There was fried onion of the table and she was using a knife to pick it up instead of her hands. The waitress made my husband and I feel like a Disease. If it was so Nasty that you don't want to pick it up, wait until the guest leave and do it your own odd way. So she kept trying to get it with the knife and I just grabbed it rudely with my hands and threw it in the dirty plate for her. 4. Didn't offer if we wanted anything else until we were ready to pay. She did like walking past us plenty of times but not servicing us. I can understand if it was BUSY but it was NOT! I've always ate at the one in Downtown Saint Paul and they do a wonderful job and they take care of you that is why I go back there but this place....I will never come back here. Some workers forget that YOU are PAYING to go there and YOUR Money pays there bills. So please have some sort of good service and respect. I service people everyday as well and this was just ridiculous. God bless anyone who goes there.

I went to the Bulldog last night with my boyfriend, and it was perfect. We both had awesome, tasty burgers and drinks--would also recommend the onion rings for an app. Only downfall was that we had to sit at the back bar which was a little crowded, and they don't take reservations for under 6 people. Regardless, I'm looking forward to going back!!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had an entirely separate vegetarian/vegan menu loaded with options! I'm not sure how, but they should make this fact more apparent...my wife and I went in expecting to get some good beers and order a few appetizers because we were expecting everything else to be pretty meat-centric. It's nice to have a place to get great beers and veg food under one roof!

I love the food. Please go to the one in NE. The lady who owns this place is wonderful, professional, and rights any issue that comes up. I'm a huge fan of the waitresses who milk the small talk because they are interested in the NE neighborhood and the people who we all might know together... Truffle fries are a staple amongst anything you order. I also have to say the beer list and iceberg wedge are another favorite. If you're in uptown and thinking of bulldog, just drive a couple miles or even bike across Hennepin to bulldog NE. I can't deal with the uptown sleeve tattoos serving my burgers. It's worth the drive to NE.

Went last night for late drinks and apps. This might be my favorite NE spot. It was PACKED for a Tuesday at 8:30pm. I love Blackthorn, but they didn't currently have it. He convinced me to try a local cider, Freewheeler(?). It was so good, I had two! Although nearly all the staff had been cut, the 2 bartenders made rounds to our table frequently and we never had to flag them down. We had the truffle fries, one of my favorites. The truffle nuggets were gone from the menu which is sad. We had the nachos which were tasty and the chips were nice and light. I wouldn't have turned down sharing a burger but the 2 apps were the right amount of food for our group.

We found a table at the back immediately, as pointed out by one of the servers from the front. Our own server was friendly and helpful, particularly for the guy in our group being picky about his beer selection. We, of course, started with the tots. And we got the fennel ones. There was a little more fennel than I was expecting, and I was thinking that I would have preferred half as much, particularly towards the bottom of the basked. But then again, it was my second lunch of the day, so I probably didn't need all those tots anyway. The bloody mary was good - nice and chunky - though I would have preferred a touch more spice and/or salt. For my main, I got the margarita pizza. It wasn't bad - crispy crust, good cheese. The sauce was a little sweet for my taste. And it could have used more basil. But all in all, a good experience. I probably should have gotten the burger, but as aforementioned, this was my 2nd lunch, and I'd had a great burger for the first and was wanting to try something new. My husband got the french toast but was too full and too hungover to finish it. It was massively thick, and the bite I had was quite good. If I'm ever back in NE Minneapolis, I'll give it another try.

First of all, I have lived in San Francisco for about four years. Bulldog (all locations) has been my hang for about ten years prior. You all are spoiled, and should rethink your perspective. As far as American food, fantastic. Kobe beef burgers, tots, fries, and stiff drinks? Unstoppable. Bulldog is one of the best. I miss such things. NE location has always been my favorite.

This place is just the best. It's usually busy, but for good reason. The burgers, the tater tots, the special tater tot dip, the beer selection, the cupcakes... none of it is healthy, but it's all just so darn good. The tots deserve a second mention, as they're perfectly crispy and delicious. Order tots as an appetizer, as it's an extra charge anyway to sub them for chips with your meal, and then you get them sonner. I usually go for the burgers-- they're great. I split the chicken and waffles with my husband one time & it was more than enough food for both of us. There's carpet ball & huge paintings of bulldogs. Parking can be hard to find if the lot is full, but that can be said of most NE establishments.

Wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, the look of the place with the large window is impressive. Sports television surround the walls. Staff was friendly. Food was hot and arrived fast. We had the tater tot hot dish and the Pork Belly Tacos. Both are unique and tasty. I appreciate the appropriate portion sizes. Prices are low for the quality of the food. We both agreed that the taco tasted "upscale" with a wonderful flavor. Parking is on the street or free lot across the way. Bathrooms were very clean for 8PM. We will be back.

I think of the Bulldog as more of a bar so I was pleasantly surprised at how good their food was. I ordered the chicken sandwich which I thought was huge! It tasted great but a little on the sloppy side. It comes with chips but if you want to substitute something its an additional charge. The beer selection is great, its always great to go to a place like this and try something new. They could manage to turn the lights up just a bit, some older eyes could have trouble reading the menu. I also noticed they had a shuffle board table which you don't see around too often. I'll be back to challenge my buddies.

I wanted to try this place out with a friend since I had seen it a few times and never actually been inside. We were about five minutes early for happy hour (11pm?), so we waited and got a couple of brews and some of those famous fennel fries they serve. The beer was okay and the fennel fries were fairly good, however later the next day we both found out we woke up in the middle of the night feeling queasy. We both were convinced it was the fries since neither of us had more than one or two beers that night. The other friends that were with us earlier did not feel sick and they had left right before we went here...All I can say is that deductive reasoning brought us to believe those fennel fries were the instigator. If I go here again, I would definitely think twice about getting those fries.

The Bulldog in NE Minneapolis is a pretty good place to grab a bite to eat and a beer. They bar has a really neat atmosphere. The menu has a lot to choose from. It can tend to be pretty busy, but I usually end up there late on a Thursday night and there is no wait. I love their BBQ Pork Sliders and tater tots! So delicious!

I was walking around in NE with a friend waiting for our time to voluteer at the Soap Factory, and suddenly got a craving for a bloody Mary. This is not unusual for a gal like myself seeing that I like salty treats more than chocolate and ice cream, and I like alcohol and salty things even more. So we past the Bulldog. We managed to get a table outside, it was not too packed, and sat down as the sun set. The watier came up to us, a little stand offish and nervous, but nice. I asked him "Is your bloody Mary good?" He said yes so I went for it. It was not. No flavor, didn't even taste like it was alcoholic. It came with a chaser of some cheap water beer. In my opinion, if you are going to give a chaser, make it good. The only good thing about it was that there were dill flakes swirling in my glass. Good idea, but still no flavor. The greatest part about my experience at the Bulldog was watching the honey bees in the flowers they had in giant pots by each table. The menu looked okay. I would probably try the burger, but I was on a mission. A bloody mission. conclusion: LAME

Definitely trendier than the Bulldog in uptown and less dive-y. The black bean burger was not as amazing, but it was still one of the best I've had. All the other aspects are fairly consistent with the uptown location - decently fast and attentive service, dim interior, all the beers in the world (mild exaggeration), and awesome selection of burgers.

Great Beer list (with some good rotation!). Burgers are great as well - try to Togarashi or the Rooster or the Junk - with some amazing fries or tots as well... Rock some shuffleboard, kick it on the sidewalk during the summer with a delirium tremens. Plenty of TV's with games on (and they're willing to switch em if you ask) and a cool backroom if you need to rent a party space. This is probably my favorite bar in this part of the NE... The place can get busy some nights - because it's good - but I've never really had much trouble getting a table.

I would give Bulldog 4 stars except for the fact that we waited for a ridiculously long amount of time waiting for our food and bill. I think this was because we sat outside and only one waitress was serving the whole patio. The food is some seriously good bar food. I had an amazing hamburger and am really excited to go back and try out a different burger creation from the menu some time soon.

I just chatted with Amy, the owner of Bulldog N.E. and she explained that the N.E. location is separately owned from the Lyndale location that I usually frequent. She clarified that her establishment is geared more toward the restaurant spectrum unlike its counterparts. The owner was very friendly and genuinely concerned about my less than optimal experience with the service at her restaurant. I appreciated that she reached out for a conversation as it demonstrates that she is committed to maintaining a high level of service. The food was really delicious here, I plan to stop in again in the near future to reassess.

After hanging out in NE for the past 5 months, we finally bade it to The Bulldog a few weeks ago. We were with a HUGE group for a friend's birthday so we didn't sit in the main dining area but in the back bar. They seemed to easily accomodate us even though we were 15 some people deep, which is impressive in a small restaurant like that. Everyone was jazzed with the beer selection, which is always great. I was ecstatic to find out they can substitue buns with a gluten free one, which is pretty rare. I ordered the Green Marvel burger (delish) and tots with sriracha mayo...highly recommend. Also, split your order and maybe one appetizer because the side of tots was HUGE as well as the burger. Most everyone at our table had a half serving of tots left but they were delicious. Overall it was great experience. Service was fast, staff was friendly and I definitely want to go back and try more soon.

I have visited Bulldog NE many times and the food is usually good. But today I found that visiting at a time other than noon or after 4:30 is a waste of time. We went there at 3:00, waited for 5 minutes to get seated and could not find anyone working in the building - or behind the bar. After waiting, we went to the back of the establishment and only saw one guy working in the office - and wasn't interested in us. I have to thank Bulldog for the experience since we ended up going to The Modern Cafe and had a meal far better than Bulldog. We'll go there instead from now on.

My girlfriend and I went to the Bulldog N.E. and very much enjoyed it. They are a solid selection of vegan burgers to choose from. I loved the Spicy Vegan Burger. I gave this only a 4 out of 5 stars for two reasons: #1: They do not have any vegan appetizers for happy hour (although the chef said he would put some on). #2: They did not have any Pilsner beers on tap. I would recommend this place because the vegan burgers are fantastic! Also there is only street parking which sometimes can be a pain running out to the meter if your dinner goes longer than expected.

So I walked in and walked out with 2 other friends at 6 PM. They have some lame new rule that you can't get a table unless you are ordering a FULL dinner...Drinks and apps still make you money and we weren't even sure if we weren't having dinner. I have been here multiple times in the past and think its changing not for the better. The staff was rude tonight and we won't be back again.

Above average food matched w/ a fantastic selection of beers. Reasonable prices. When the sun goes down The Bulldog is nothing more than a meal-and-dip place or somewhere just to chill out and have a few micro brews. Nothing wrong with that, just know the house music and hip-shaking is elsewhere. Oh, and get the "Ropa" at brunch. Trust me.

The bulldog has an expansive beer and food list that can meet the need of almost any diner. My three favorite entree items are: the tater tot hot dish (I think this is actually the most phenomenal item), the pork belly tacos and the fish tacos. Be aware that that portions are giant so go hungry. Bloody Mary was alright, maybe a 2.5 or 3/5. Service is pretty good - they are fast enough and not pushy or intrusive when you are enjoying your meal and conversation.

Bulldog is always a hit or miss place for me. Some of the burgers and sandwiches are great- the Cubano being my personal favorite. Truffle fries are bomb, as are the tater tots (but can you really ever go wrong with tots?). I don't like the peanut butter burger (it gets too sticky) but basically everyone else raves about it. The beer list, too, is on point, with a ton of Belgians and a bunch of crazy brews I have never heard of... and want to try all of. Usually, Bulldog is a great and dependable place to go for a tasty, artery clogging meal. Nothing wrong with that. The last two times I've been there, though, I've had some trouble with their service (and a terrible sandwich). The first time, a few months ago, was a problem with where we were sitting, in the back room on a busy night. We were there to just have a few beers. The server, however, told us we HAD to order food to sit there. What? I mean, if that's the case, maybe the hostess should have told us that prior to sitting us down there (or asking, at least). The server was incredibly rude, as well. This past week I went in and ordered my favorite, the Cubano, only to later find out that they were all out. The server told me that they didn't have the cubano. She seemed in a rush, and I had barely glanced at the rest of the menu, so when she suggested the Surly Braised Corned Beef, I said yeah, that's fine. Ugh, it wasn't. The corned beef, braised in Surly, was good, but there was barely any meat to make up for the massive amounts of mustard slathered all over. Then they add caramelized brussel sprouts which just really made no sense on this type of sandwich. Not even reading the description, I assumed it was just a Reuben with Surly-fied meat... but it wasn't. More so mad that Bulldog would offer such a weird and gross sandwich (and that a server would recommend). We're both at fault, though. I'll obviously still go back to Bulldog after learning my lesson... but I do think their service needs to kick it up a notch to match with their mostly delicious menu and great list of beers.

Came here for a night cap and I wanted to re-try the nachos to give them a second chance, since it's been awhile, but this is the second time I've come in and they've been out of nachos. Really? Out of nachos? Seriously? Twice in a row of me coming here? Is there a chip shortage? As always, I love the large selection of beer and this time we played a little of the shuffle board type game (yeah I don't know what it's called). Had a blast. Hopefully next time I can try those nachos.

The Nordeast outpost of the Bulldog could easily make a case for being my favorite of the three in the Twin Cities (though, technically, this one is under different ownership than the other two). Shufflepuck, typically solid bar food, 24 taps, a rotating firkin and a generally lively atmosphere are all things that one would be hard-pressed to complain about. Draught selections are a bit across the board, but tend to lean towards various European styles of beer (i.e., a lot of Belgian and German beers), though a few local and regional beers are always on tap as well. This place can get pretty packed during the common noshing hours, which isn't surprising, given the breadth of the menu that focuses on gussied up pub grub and comfort foods. I've found a few items that haven't lived up the ambitious descriptions on the menu, but for the most part the food is better-than-average bar food. Stick with one of their burgers, curds, wings or various sandwiches (recommend the Cubano) and you should be satisfied. Overall, the Bulldog has a fun atmosphere and is definitely a good one to have in the rotation if in the Nordeast area (of if you just want some tater tots at 1 AM).

Bulldog earns a solid 3 from me simply because I enjoy the place, but service can be inconsistent and it's not so amazing that I return more than once a year every 18 mos. Sometimes we get the servers who fly off to find tardy food in a blast of superhero trumpets. Or the server who drops off the check with the no rush line, but hasn't mentioned cupcakes or dessert. I haven't indulged in the games and Belgian beer and I don't get along, so maybe I'm the wrong audience. But, I like the creative spin on burgers, tots are solid and the tuna tartare ain't bad for a college crowd burger bar.

The bulldog NE is a great place for great food, service, and libation. Particularly like that they have a beer selection from our local "Indeed" microbrew. The "El Cubano" sandwich was fabulous, and I have a quite a few Cuban sandwiches in my day...this one being at the top of the list. I highly recommend this place for lunch, supper, or happy hour...plus. Have the Best.

So, I'm from NY. I'm not sure if you mid-westerners know this, but tater tots are not all the rage you all think they are. They're good to have from a frozen package at home, but not to pay extra for at a restaurant. Not worth it. -- what I thought before I went to bulldog NE. OMG THESE TOTS ARE FREAKING AMAZING!! -- what I thought AFTER I went to bulldog NE. Went with my boyfriend tonight, looking for the comfort only a delicious burger can provide after a crappy day. We were seated immediately, and ordered the pretzel burger. It was delicious! Very pleased with the service, food, and beer.

We called ahead to check on the wait and asked if we could put our name on the list only to be told no - just come in. Okay, I can deal. My husband dropped me off while he parked the car so I could get our name on the list - as I waited, I noticed several empty tables yet, there was a list of several 2-tops ahead of us and we were told the wait would be at least 30 minutes. I thought it was a little strange but, I let it go to observe the scene a bit more. After about 10 minutes or so of us waiting at the front door with multiple empty tables within view, I overheard the manager tell the host to just go ahead and seat the 4-tops with 2-tops and I quickly figured out the explanation for those empty tables. I was going to let it go figuring we would be next in line to get one of the other empty tables when a single gentlemen walked in and asked for a table of 4. He was the first to arrive apparently there to put their name on the 'list' and the manager & host sat him at a table before us!!! We had been waiting for 15 minutes! My husband inquired and was told that they only seat 2-tops at 2-top tables and therefore, we would have to wait even though we had just watched them seat the other 2-tops on the list ahead of us! I hate to play this card but, I've worked in the industry for 23 years - I am currently HR & Recruiting Manager for a nationwide restaurant group and this policy is just ignorant. The manager was rude and busy or not, this is not the way to treat your guests. Shame on you Bulldog.

This place is in my backyard of sorts so I go here when I can. My friends all used to hang here a lot so I've never really had trouble with the service or the food for that matter. The tatertots are amazing and they now have gluten free buns for their burgers and hot dogs! I still take the buns off, but I like that they have options for what ever you want. I'm not a huge beer drinker, so I can't comment on that, but this place always seems to be hoppin'. Not bad for brunch or snacks, but it is definitely a neighborhood place to check out.

We keep coming here because of the location and size and though the food and drink are pretty decent, the service is just all right but often bordering on deal-breaking. Love the variation on tots and sauces, though it's hard to fuck up tater tots. Salads are ok, usually more wet than I like. Sandwiches are pretty good, though a little too heavy on the meat side. I love their nachos with pulled beef and queso fresco. Probably one of the best dishes there. Like I said, service is nothing to write home. It usually is more on neglectful or resentful if anything. Because they get steady business it's like they could care less about being nice.

Alright stop, collaborate and listen - Lonny's back with a brand new... review? Vanilla Ice I'm not. Although in college I was a member of a rap group called Stockholm Syndrome. Me and 3 white guys who recorded an ode to Rue McClanahan, a song about a reuben sandwich with the capacity for thought and emotion, and a rap version of Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe." I know, we still can't believe we didn't blow up either. Every once in a while I have such a good experience at an establishment that I want to just freestyle about it. That's definitely is the case with The Bulldog N.E., which is - by far - the best Bulldog in the city. For now, I'll spare you my rapping, though I can't promise it won't happen in a future review. From the moment you walk in the door at The Bulldog there's a feeling of continuity. The place runs smoothly. A few of us grabbed a table here in the mid-afternoon and our waiter (who was also the manager, I think) was so personable that it merits mentioning. There' nothing like fantastic, personable service to guarantee a return trip to a place. Plenty of wonderful beer on tap, but I went with the spicy bloody mary, which was one of the best BM's I've had in the city. We ordered a bunch of appetizers - tots (they have a nice variety of tot), wings, steak tartar, Bavarian pretzels. Everything was delicious except for the pretzel, which I'd suggest avoiding. We each ordered different hot dogs (I had the Kramarczuk's dog) and the consensus at the table was that we were experiencing an episode of domestic terrorism, because those dogs were DA BOMB. *Kid n Play kick step* As if I wasn't already enjoying my experience enough, my buddy Dylan noticed the Bulldog has shuffleboard. SHUFFLEBOARD! And just like that... it was ON. Synopsis: - Excellent apps - Bomb hot dogs - Fantastic service - Spicy bloody mary is phenomenal - SHUFFLEBOARD Thumbs way up! 21 thumb salute!

I was in the Bulldog NE this afternoon work my girlfriend and a couple of friends from the NE neighborhood who have never been there either and I have too say we had an amazing time. Our server was named Angelo and his service was nothing short of spectacular. He was super attentive to make sure we had refills on our drinks immediately and the food suggestions he had were exactly what we were looking for. The menu had so many items that all sound great so it was super hard to decide on what entree to order. My friends, and I would highly suggest this as a great place to bring anyone from a first date to a business client. Huge success!

The food and scene here has fallen off in the last couple years. The place always smells like spilled beer that was never cleaned up. None the less, still arguably the best "all around" option in NE.

I just HATE the idea that a business would waste 60% of its floor space with a closed-in bar. Sorry, I didn't come here to be in effing Dinky Town and breathe the same square inch of oxygen as the stranger next to me! TOO CROWDED. Sorry I seem overly negative and probably unfair, but the 9 minutes I spent looking for friends in this bar was so unbearable. BONUS: you can leave whenever you want?

DON'T GO TO BULLDOG WHEN IT'S CROWDED! I've had two very bad service experiences when it was crowded. The first was after the Torchlight 5K in 2009. It took two hours to get our food. Our server said something about how there was a disaster and the kitchen was flooding. It made me think twice about eating something from a flooded kitchen, but I was so hungry I would have eaten anything at that point. In their defense, they did give us our meals and drinks for free. The second was the day before St. Patrick's day this year. We ordered beers and later put in a food order. We were there for an hour and never received our food. When we were finally able to track our server down, we just asked for the bill to see what would happen. Good news: we weren't charged for the food. Bad news: we never got our food. We left, starving, and enjoyed some wonderful sausages down the street at New Bohemia. Bulldog gets three stars because I went this past Sunday at around 2:30pm, so there were only a couple other tables with customers. I had a delicious burger that had a pretzel bun stuffed with white cheddar, like some sort of backwards jucy lucy. My bf, who is obsessed with burgers with eggs or burgers with peanut butter, was able to order a burger with peanut butter AND an egg. It was also, surprisingly, very delicious. The fries were wonderful as well. I repeat, DON'T GO TO BULLDOG WHEN IT'S CROWDED, and you'll be just fine.

My favorite part about the bulldog is the options for cheese for the burgers. Went there last night, seated right away. service was fast and food was good. My burger came without cheese on it and they were very apologetic and brought me a new burger and did not charge for the extra cheese.

I went there with my sister and her family including two little kids. it was kid friendly with a kids menu with crayons and activities for the kids and the cook brought out a 2nd kids pizza for my nephew because he didn't like how the cheese came out even though none of us noticed or complained. Excellent food and great local beer choices.

Just had dinner at the Bulldog NE, and my GF had a great little pizza, my hotdog was good, and our first round of drinks were good. The food here has always been pretty good, and not really hit and miss - the service on the other hand... They put in a new Surly Bitter Brewer keg that I had the first glass and sample from, and it was watery and crappy. I should have known better after having a sample but for some reason I thought that the water was from them cleaning the keg lines and a glass would be better - I know, my fault, but whatever, was willing to give it a try. It didn't help that the bartender with the short black beard and hair was a snotty and said "well it's a Surly" (he didn't like the company). Anyway, I didn't drink it and got it comped a half hour later after pretty much having an argument with snotty dude about the beer and then listening to him go off about how he didn't like the company as well as them having a huddle of the 3 bartenders talking about how it couldn't have been the bar and the keg was off. Needless to say I don't really want to be part of a "discussion" about the beer, I don't need comments (it must have been a personal thing he had with the company) about why he didn't like the brewery (I was wearing a Surly hat, I love the company), and I really didn't need to prove my point at all about why I was right. Just wasn't a great experience, he isn't a great bartender, and I'm not a happy camper. The best part was, and maybe they did this later, but they LEFT THE BAD KEG IN and NONE OF THEM SAID ANYTHING ABOUT CONTACTING SURLY! So, now, more people are going to get bad beer and are going to complain about it, and will need to stand up for themselves when confronted by the one bartender. Not a good way to run a bar. Done with the Bulldog NE, going to go to the one in Uptown from now on.

First, I should preface this by saying that I don't like burgers much. It's not something I generally crave like the overwhelming majority of Americans seem to. The first time I went to The Bulldog, I was more or less coerced into going with friends (ie: I was out-voted by the Americans). That said, I had one of the best burgers of my life at The Bulldog. I had the Tillamook Smokey Cheddar Burger. The thing that I like about The Bulldog is it's bar food but done fancily and only slightly more pricily. Their hamburgers are made with Kobe beef and they use Fischer Farms bacon, both amazing meats. I also had the nachos. You get a ton and they're fresh, spicy and not especially greasy (my favorite was the cilantro sour cream). They have a full list of wines and beers from obscure parts of the world to add to the fun. The ambiance of the restaurant is also a plus. Maintaining the old architecture of the building, they've managed to transform it into a vintage feeling bar with large flat screens to watch sports on. Finally, while The Bulldog is tasty and a hip place to go, everyone else in Minneapolis seems to think so too. I have always had to wait when I go there (even at 5pm). But I will add it's well worth the wait. Also, while they do have a parking lot behind the building, it's nearly impossible to find a spot. Bring quarters.

I have been to the NE Bulldog about a million times...and I can't believe I am just finally, now, writing my review! I should mention that about 1/3 of my visits here have been solo visits. Here is how this has happened: Me - answering my phone: "Hello" Person on other end of phone: "We are all over at the Bulldog! You should come meet us out!!!" Me: "Yeah, cool, on my way!" Me - Getting to bar, looking around for friends, walking around the big/crowded bar area, roaming their patios, again around the big/crowded bar area. Me - calling my friend: "Where are you guys? I can't find you?" Person on other end of phone: "We are sitting right at the bar!" Me - still on phone & walking around the bar: "Where?" Me - thinking to myself - OH CRUD! I bet they are at the OTHER Bulldog over off Lyndale!!! ARGH!!! $&%$#@ Person on other end of phone: "Did you go to the wrong Bulldog, again?" Me: "$&*# YES!" Person on other end of phone: "Are you going to come to meet us then?" Me: "Nah, too complicated" ...and so on... This has resulted in me sitting at the bar, ordering a brew from their MASSIVE beer selection, and sitting by myself without shame (and usually bumming some tater tots from a neighboring patron). Clearly, this Bulldog is my preferred location for some reason... They have an impressive & varied beer selection (perfect for a little beer snob like myself), their food is a-okay (the tots are pretty freaking good), the service can be kind of wretched at times (the bartenders aren't very nice, in my experience - but the servers are usually cordial), the patio is fun in the summer... Last time I was there - I was there with a few others + my 3 big and unruly dogs - the server brought my pups a bowl of water AND a little rawhide chew for each of them...she got an automatic gold star as far as I am concerned.. :) I like this place - there is nothing (other than the beer list & the doggy friendliness) that really stands out about it. though It's just one of those places that is somewhat predictable & you know you are going to have a decent enough time while you are there... Just make sure if you are meeting other people that you specify which Bulldog location... :P

I've heard great things about this place and a buddy of mine was in the area and wanted to grab a bite. Now, parking can be a challenge. There is meter parking (the new ones that take credit cards) and they have a private lot, but it's only available during the evening hours. Right when you walk in, the first thing you see is the bar. It's big and takes up a good portion of the floor with table tops and chairs all around. There is a patio area, but it was pretty chilly to be outside. I was hungry so I got to business and order the Togarashi, which has Togarashi spice, Japanese coleslaw and wasabi mayo. The Togarashi spice tops the Kobe beef burger (fairly liberal), then coleslaw with the mayo on the bun. Now, I've had plenty of burgers in my time and this one ranks towards the top of the list. The meat was well rested and the wasabi mayo gives you a kick as you take a bite. The coleslaw and spice round out the flavors to create a well balanced burger. The fries were great and appeared to be fresh cut with sea salt. This burger needs to ketchup; although, a great burger never needs ketchup. Had a great first experience here and I'll for sure stop by again (have to get the Ninja burger...). Also, if you need gluten free, they have gluten free buns ($1.50); this was pretty cool to see since this is an option that I never see on a burger menu.

My friend and I usually come here for their Tuna Tartare and Tator Tots. I absolutely love the atmosphere. They have tvs everywhere. The have a back room for bigger party. It's located in a great, safe, and fun neighborhood. I usally go there sundays and sometimes they run out of their cocktails. I wanted to order Ginger Grass and Pearl Plum but they ran out, instead I ordered Northeast Nector and it was amazing! Make sure you ask the server and see what they have. I went there last week and I was not impressed with their El Cubano at all. My friend ordered their Surly Braised Corn Beef and I thought that was very tasteful and spicy ;). Yum. Bartendars are very cool and friendly staffs. Quick service too! Sometimes they have special anouncements when you 'check in' so make sure you check in! ;)

Hah, this was an unexpected surprise. Walk in to something like ten excellent beers on tap plus the expected selection of peebeer. What's more, some seriously fantastic burgers, great selection of appetizers, and the best Chicago hot dog I've had outside of Chicago. So far, I've tried the standard cheeseburger, the italian beef, and the dog, plus the bacon scallion wontons. All fantastic, and the only reason I'm not there right now is I think my arteries can only handle this in small doses.

I know some Yelp Elites have rated the Bulldog fairly high, but I struggle to throw out a 3 star or higher rating for the Bulldog for a few reasons: For starters, the Bulldog is located in Minnesota, what a shocker. This place isn't in Manhattan, Beverly Hills, or Downing Street in London, so why on earth, on a -1 degree day would you find it appropriate to charge $8 a glass for a house red during happy hour? That equivocates to 2.5 bottles of wine from Trader Joes. I'm not cheap, I'd be more than willing to pay top dollar for something that is, well, top dollar. But a simple happy hour in Northeast with horrid traffic and parking on a day where people spend half of their day inflating tires on major interstates just to get to happy hour after work? Huh? Who do you think you are Bulldog? Burgers are good, I'll give them that, but I can't seem to find myself liking this place.

It's been two years since I first came to Bulldog NE, and I have fallen out of puppy love. I've tried many of their dishes and always come back for the rooster burger. Still amazing flavor with the sriracha glaze and their homemade pickles, but I have a bone to pick with Bulldog. It has gotten to the point that when I order a burger here, I must ask for it to be well-done. At Bulldog I would never ask for anything less because I have consistently been getting burgers NOT cooked. I'm talking raw beef on the inside when the burger is supposed to be medium! No one wants to eat raw hamburger. No one. Their burgers are never cooked right. I think they keep it so dim in here so that you can't tell. That is until you bite into it... Yikes! Their tots have also lost their appeal. Nowadays they are usually smothered in oil and extra grease from the fryer. Bulldog NE has gone downhill in the past year. While it still has really great flavors, the execution has been a real disappointment. Sure when you send back the burger they will comp you something, but for once I'd rather just have everyone at our table eat at the same time!

Arrived at the end of lunch hour on a Friday, place was nearly full. Waited obediently at the "host will seat you" sign, but no one came. Ever. So we seated ourselves at the bar. Grabbed our own menus because bartender ignored us. My pizza was overdone - tomato sauce burned into the crust. My husband ordered a burger cooked medium, but could only eat the outer edges because the middle was rare. Couldn't tell the bartender because she never checked on us. Never refilled our beverages either, even after the lunch crowd left. She cleared our plates when we stacked them in a tall pile for her to see, and she ignored the fact that our plates were still filled with food - didn't ask if anything was wrong. We paid, we left, went to Lund's, bought our own food and made our own lunch at home.

Family and I were there in early July. We all loved our food, I had the Fish & Chips--which I've had in London and Ireland--and really enjoyed it, and the Italian Beef sandwich was raved about as well. I liked the atmosphere in the place and I'd love to go back. My biggest complaint was the service. The hostess was apathetic at best and snotty at worst, and our waiter wasn't any better. He acted as if the simplest requests (ketchup, drink refills, etc) were a huge inconvenience to him. He wasn't chatty or friendly, and I think he mainly just grunted... (My boyfriend said he was just indifferent, but I was pretty irritated with the service). A big turn off and if I hadn't liked their food so much I wouldn't go back; hopefully the bad service was just a fluke.

Went on a sat afternoon about 1. Service was incredibly slow, we waited about 45 min for our burgers. When it arrived, it was overcooked (they asked how we wanted it when we ordered. We asked for medium and we got well done). Also, not a lot of food for the price ($12 burger). Ok that was the bad... here's the good: it was one tasty burger, even though it was well done.... delicious.

Upon entrance, I was intrigued/sidetracked by their cupcake menu posted on the wall (I never ended up ordering one, but really? How awesome of a restaurant sells amazing cupcakes???) We were immediately greeted by a super friendly hostess. Next, we were escorted to our table out on the (Sunny, mid August) patio. Being cream cheese wanton lovers, (who isn't??) when we saw the " Bacon Scallion Cream Cheese Wantons" we were sold... WORDS. CAN. NOT. DESCRIBE. If you do not order these wantons, it is a crime.... although I'm confident everything on their menu is probably re-dic-u-lous. Prior to eating the wanton's we had already ordered our meals: 1) Steak Sandwich.... I'm talking Hanger Steak, bleu cheese, carmelized onions, sundried tomato-porcini butter, spring greens on focaccia bun. 2) El Cubano: Roasted pork, Fischer Farms ham, stone ground mustard, sweet and spicy pickles and swiss cheese on pressed bread with Mojo De Ajo. Our taste buds lead us to the belief that if our meals were even HALF as good as the wantons, we would be sold. Lo and behold... the meals were mind blowing. We were each only able to eat half of our meals, as they are generous. But have no regrets in ordering both, as we got to try TWO of their awesome meals. We've both "been around the block" in the restaurant realm. We've both had steak sandwiches and cubans, but mark my words. These, were the best both of us have EVER had. The service was amazing (I ordered water with LOTS of limes... my glass had 5+ limes on it). We paid them our words of compliments etc, paid our bill and KNEW we would be back and recommending it to friends and family (which we already have only to receive rave reviews.) In short, and in my BOYFRIENDS words. "The food was f$%^&U awesome. I'm glad we went there."

This is the sort of place that will make you go "Aw, damnit" upon receiving your receipt... it's not so much that it's expensive, it's that you'll end up drinking four or five things in addition to your meal and forget to do basic arithmetic until the bill arrives with confirmation of what you have done. Still, unlike other establishments around town I don't feel like a sucker who got ripped off when signing my name. It's possible that's because i'm drunk and in a good/naive mood, but more likely it's because the food is actually pretty tasty and of a reasonable value here. Put simply, it costs more than typical bar food but it makes sense because it's really, really good bar food. Nothing original or weird, just done well with a few frills thrown in. Things I would recommend for vegetarians: Black Bean Burger. One of the better ones in town. Add a fried egg if you're in that kind of mood. Not Dog done Chicago Style with cheese added is also good, and very cheap (under $5 I believe). Green Goddess salad. Kind of simple, but a better option than the other two if you want something light All three of those things are top notch. The mushroom sandwich is ok. I think there's a couple other things you can get but that's a good start. The breakfast/brunch, on the other hand, is kind of sucky and expensive. If you happen to go there during those hours, stick to the normal menu. Or just drink. Oh yeah, and this place is kind of a drag when it's packed. Better to check it out when things are slow-- evenings early in the week or weekend afternoons. One more thing-- i heard a rumor that Esquire magazine had this as a finalist for "Best Bar in America" one year. Now, this place is great but THAT is crazy. Also, this apparently was the year after Nye's won that award.... what, are these the laziest reviewers on earth? "We can't give it to Nye's again? Ugh, well, I don't want to walk more than 10 blocks." Is Arone's going to win next?

The Bulldog NE has so much going for it: Great location, NE is the new Uptown. Great beer list. They grind their own hamburger daily. This is really a great place to eat, drink and have fun. The atmosphere is on the loud and crowded side, so you need to be in the mood for that. I have always been very happy with the service here considering how busy they get. If you are in the mood for bar food with a bit of an edge, this is the place. The burger options are numerous and delicious with lots of interesting flavors. Fries and tots are not to be missed. The chili is out of this world and comes with an amazing carmelized cornbread. The chicken nuggets are not what you would expect either. Did I mention the Happy Hour? Good, I'll keep that to myself.

I had a special pulled pork panini with quince jam and it rocked. it also came with tater tots galore. their bacon infused whiskey bloody mary was a bit too sweet for my taste and I couldn't find the bacon flavor... it did come with a pickle and a beer chaser though

Sweet atmosphere with a kick-ass beer selection on tap (which means not your crummy bud or miller stuff). Not your average appetizer's either... may I recommend the tater tot's with an assortment of sauces. Burgers are good not great but more upscale bar food.

Always a good choice on most evenings. It has everything for the Sports fan, the beer fan, the foodie and the chill-laidback converse with your friends fan. Great beer selection and really good food. I can't stop here without an order of their truffle tots. I only wish they had more patio space (don't get me wrong they have plenty, I just never get there in time to find seating).

Kobe Beef Burgers = Love. There's just no other way to say it. The fact that they have managed to re-incarnate that one patty in so many different ways never fails to impress me. They seem to have cupcakes hanging around all the time which I don't really "get" because its a bar that serves burgers, etc. But I guess if that's your thing, then its good that they're there. They also have a shuffleboard table which is a pretty good time even though I'm frightfully terrible. The interior is nice, but given its place in NE just a few short blocks away from the White Castle, when I go there I don't expect to get the "downtown" vibe, I'm going for the NE vibe which does mean a variety of people and apparel choices.

I would highly recommend Bulldog for drinks and apps, but sadly, not as a place to grab dinner, at least as a vegetarian. I'm a vegetarian, and I would say they are good for a light meal (good salads -- green goddess dressing is yummy), but I wasn't wowed by their veggie burger options (the black bean gets one or two stars, the portabella three out of five). Much larger than their uptown location, so better to head here with groups.

Went Saturday night. My first time here. Was told it wasn't the packed atmosphere of Downtown, and was a little more relaxed. Was it just me or was this just "grown-up frat" vibe? Don't get me wrong, it was okay, but it wasn't anything special, and definitely shouldn't be the alternative to "packed Downtown" as I still very much got the frat-boy vibe, and kept my eye on the girls in my party as they went to the restroom. Fellas, button-up longsleeves and hats are a no-no. Zipped hoodies with a hat is okay, but zipped hoodies with a hat and torn jeans should be worn while doing yardwork, not out on the town. It was like they all meant to be more grown-up, but failed miserably. We just drank, so I can't comment on the food. Staff was nice enough though. Atmosphere was cool, they do have a indoor shuffleboard game, so I mean, that's cool. I'd rather spend some more per drink and go somewhere that "gets it".

If you like burgers and beer, this place is a must. Great selection of beer, and several burger choices that are pretty unique. Having said that, I got the standard plain burger, and it was very good, but a little too salty. The fries are fantastic, but they were stingy with the portion-barely a handful. My BF had the bacon cheddar burger and loved it, along with the bloody mary. Great location, good service. Plenty of TV's for Saturday college football watching, but (at least today) without super obnoxious drunk football fans.

Bulldog N.E. has a clean and open feel. Usually, I visit here when I am bar hopping in NE. They have a great selection of beers and great specialty drinks. It is easy to catch a cab on this bustling intersection. Recently, we sat on the patio and is was a wonderful experience until the smokers joined us...but I guess that is just to be expected. Also, the hand dryers (yes, in the bathroom) are superior to most.

My wife asked some friends for recommendations on good burgers. This came up and we picked it based on the Yelp reviews. I had the steak sandwich and fries and she had the Stilton burger on pumpernickel with tater tots. The steak sandwich was tender and tasty. The fries weren't that great. The Stilton was a real knockout. Just an awesome collaboration if interesting flavors. The Tots lived up to the hype and blew away the fries. The waiter was great. When my wife requested a beer they didn't have he had a couple suggestions for good alternatives and the suggestion was perfect. Great place. Well be going back.

Went to the bulldog on a Wednesday night. There were a few people inside, but the place wasn't packed by any means. The bartender was very helpful, and was talkative and friendly with us even though we had no girls in our group at the time. Beers on tap are a little bit pricey, but the selection is incredible. Seems like a place to come get food and a drink instead of drinks in order to not break the bank. Either way, I reccomend it!

An excellent beer selection is the foundation of any bar and this one certainly scores well. A great selection of Belgian, German and other international beers. Also an interesting and rotating selection of American microbrews. So they do it right. They also do their food well. They have a lot of variety from a pickle plate to nachos to tater tot hot dish. They are covering a lot of culinary territory. Despite this, nothing seems out of place. Actually it seems very well put together. This can serve as your modern American bar hangout. While not groundbreaking, they do it just about perfect.

this place is huge, always busy, and really is a great place for a group of friends to grab a drink. since i'm not much of a drinker, i'm more concerned with the food... which is truly fab and delicious! i've been pleased with everything i've ever gotten from here. definitely a refreshing change from typical bar grub. i'm obsessed with their salads, which are especially fresh and filling. like many other reviews proclaim, however, i must agree in saying that the service at the bulldog really sucks. we went in around 4pm on a saturday night and were greeted and seated immediately. we were taken all the way to the dining room in the back, which also has a small bar. there was one larger party back here where we'd been seated, as well as a couple seated at a table outside. although this area was quite vacant, there was only one server between our three tables and it took her 10 minutes to come to our table with waters and another 5 to get our drink orders in. all the while, there are literally about 12 female servers huddled around a tray at the bar, laughing and sampling something instead of helping out on the floor. this type of restaurant staff behavior drives me mad. i've never had the cupcakes but frankly they have never looked all that appealing to me. head downtown to COCOA & FIG at gaviidae to top off your meal instead... that is, if you don't leave after your first beer because the service is that obnoxious.

This place is VERY loud. The kind of bar one goes to just to drink and nothing more because you'll never be able to chat comfortably as the music is blasting. It's very crowded and I find it a somewhat awkward space because of the layout... It's kind of very narrow on one side and the bar is in the middle... Not my thing. Won't go there again.

My Birthday is in a few hours and my fiance proposed just a few hours ago and Thanks to The Bulldog it was a bit negative. Yes, the customer service is awful. How bitter can a bartender be and how awful were the wait staff and manager to not acknowledge the sole person looking for the clue or message left by a person they had met there two years ago? Yes, the treatment was mean, rude and just plain unnecessary. The Surley Furious on tap was good and the menu items seemed OK, but the service was just plain rude and awful. NEVER go there to try to propose to someone, Ok? They will NOT help.

Ugh. Bulldog, I have tried to like you. I have really, really tried. My first visit was pre-move last year to watch the Spartans get their butts kicked by UNC. Sadly, even though my little green heart was broken that night, that was by far my best visit to this bar. The bartender gave me a couple of good beer recommendations and the food was tasty. I have been back at least a half dozen times since my move though and none was a great experience. Some of the bartenders are really nice and attentive. In general though, I find the service just flat-out bad. I have literally had to chase servers down to get another round of beer after our glasses sat empty for over 15-20 minutes. I have tried desperately to order food before it just got to the point past hunger where I have given up. I have learned that the initial happy hello quickly turns to disdain and disappearance. The food is fine. The beer list is fine. I just can't do it any more though. There are too many other great bars in town who treat us well. I agree with Nicole. When I am in this part of the 'hood, I would much rather go to Mac's.

We are a fan of Bulldog in St. Paul and visit frequently. The Bulldog in NE was a disappointment. The service was very slow, the food was over-cooked. Even though we live west of Minneapolis, we will not go to NE, but will go to St. Paul.

They have tater tots! and definitely good burgers. They used to have this drink, a rootbeer float type deal with rootbeer schnaps, vanilla vodka, etc. that was amazing and really strong. They can still make it if you ask. A good beer selection, and pretty good atmosphere. Pretty classy for NE, I'd say more a spot for a date.

Food - great burgers. Beer - Well, the selection was interesting. I've never been so confused by a beer menu..various pages with various groupings of prices. No problem though..I got through it. Some seriously crazy priced beers here. Waitress was on drugs I think . I'd go back for the burgers. And a cupcake.

I LOVE this place. Or I DID. I don't live in MPLS but this has been a go to for my husband and friends for many years. I was thrilled when they opened their St. Paul location so I could go more often. I don't live in St. Paul either but again, when in town I will go and recommend it to friends. So why ONE star? Because I came up to MPLS with 10 of my friends for a tour of the new breweries. We had rented a van and a driver to take us around. For a late lunch we tried in to go to The Bulldog to eat. We were turned away because the "policy is no party busses." It was the middle if the afternoon. The place was more than half empty. We wanted to eat and the average age of our crowd was 49. We had been to a couple of places before there but no one was intoxicated. I was not drinking at all so I was in a position to make this assessment. Instead of seating us, we were asked how many places we had been to previously. IF we had said none, he would have seated us. We had been to two. Policy is "if we are the first stop then it is ok. Our choice to rent a van verus going in mulitple cars is not what I would term a "party bus" but a good idea for responsible drinkers trying to act responsibly. Still, store policy trumped good sense. The group behind us with I think about 8 people were greeted and seated. I am totally for trying to preserve a nice environment for people to enjoy great beer. But creating "policies" based on others behavior and not using good sense or acknowledging when people are trying to act responsibly is ridiculous. Our group was disappointed, frustrated and embarrassed. I use to love this place but I won't go again. If you want good beer and a good sausage for lunch try the place a block down, they were happy to serve us.

This is a story of one of the great wonders of the world: The Pyramids. These pyramids aren't in Egypt, they're right here at the Bulldog. I knew Steak Tartare was a dicey proposition, but it takes serious balls to put that on a menu. If you're a mediocre restaurant, or even a half-decent beer bar, you don't put a delicacy like Steak Tartare on the menu. My friend is a chef and he said it _was_ excellent, but as another commenter noted, the chef was "let go". The tartare came out in a pyramid. A perfect pyramid of what appeared to be old catfood, on a solid foundation of cold, chopped, cooked eggs. I'm not going to say, "Oh no, I went to this restaurant and accidentaly got food poisoning!" I knew that cold, grey, raw meat in the form of a pyramid fundamentally means vomit. All I can say is that I pictured Yelp in my mind and knew that to truly serve you, the discerning public, I would have to try it. Otherwise you would be tormented forever wondering if the Cat Food Pyramid was really deadly, or if it may have actually tasted good. It tasted delicious. Whoever said "Bring out the Hellman's, bring out the best," was not kidding. Helmanns and some chopped up Vlasic pickles can turn rehydrated egg subsitute and questionable meat into delicious bar food. (note: actual Steak Tartare has mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion, capers, salt pepper, and a raw egg.) Did I vomit? Yes. Profusely. For 24 hours. Totally worth it for you guys. And for what its worth, I have a strange respect for the Bulldog. In this day and age, its ballsy for an establishment to have the E. Coli Pyramid on the menu.

3.7 stars - Went here after eating greasy cheese curds at the Stone Arch Festival. The place looks really nice with its high ceilings and I didn't get to try any of their beers on tap, but they seemed to have a really impressive selection. I wasn't feeling like a full meal, so I decided to go for their happy hour menu with tater tots and their truffled chicken nuggets with BBQ sauce. The chicken nuggets were just OK, and the tater tots were average, crispy tots (then again, average tots are better than no tots at all). However, a few weeks later I decided to come back with my sister for brunch. This time, I went for the chicken and waffles, which I was eyeing the last time. Oh my, this was quite a wonderful surprise. The crispy bacon bits and the maple syrup worked perfectly with the two sourdough waffles. The fried chicken was done correctly, and the entire thing just came together beautifully. My sister got the Green Goddess salad, which was also very tasty. Looking forward to trying their talked-about burgers next time.

Love this place. I feel like I've had everything on the menu and everything is super tasty. The happy hour is really great for food - 1/2 off appetizers - which are huge and usually 2 or 3 can feed a few people. Beer selection is great, but I usually try their seasonal cocktails which are written on a board by the door. They are always unique and creative. Highly recommend for a happy hour destination or even a late night snack and drinks. Good place to watch various sporting events as well.

Tried out the Bulldog for the first time this week. Pretty good, but not stunning. Baby green salad with avocados, good except about a third of the avocados were completely black. Situation remedied by removing them, but still...ew! Fried mozarella, on the other hand, was divine. Not your standard frozen mozza sticks. Instead, hand-breaded patties of cheese fried up with savory spices. Delicious, and worth the happy hour price of $4. However, it's a very small portion so don't plan to share this particular appetizer with more than a couple of people. Outdoor seating was particularly pleasant, and service was really good. A very pleasant time!

I walked in here once and stood around near the front to wait on a table. I could see people bustling around. It was crowded and the servers were busy. The servers were very very busy. I must say these guys have about the best hamburgers and Chicago Dogs in Minneapolis. The burgers are a little small but seasoned to perfection and come with tatter tots. Great selection of beers as well. The service is a little slow so dont go if your in a hurry. We booked a party of 13 last time we were there and the management was very accomodating. We hit them up at the last minute on a saturday night. They worked with us to make sure we we got a table and even threw in a free desert. Outstanding.

The food here is fantastic and the service is top notch. My only complaint is that it ALWAYS takes a long time after the order has been placed. But everything on the menu is so damned good, I often block off a significant amount of time. Any burger + Togarashi tots = Perfect.

I think this neighborhood bar does it's job well. It always seems to be packed. No, the food isn't amazing, but it's decent. Love the tater tots here and the amazing $20 bottle of vinho verde. The atmosphere is great too. Always a good mix of college kids, hipsters, local business folk and neighbors. Bulldog is always on my list of places to stumble into while out in the neighborhood. When I can get a table that is...Yes, it really is always that busy.

Classic American but not crappy "bar food". Kobe burgers are tasty w wasabi fries. Decent prices. A bit noisy and service is...spotty. But overall, a good environment, good food, and good vibe. Would come back again. Or maybe will try the other one in St Paul.

It's good to see Northeast is thriving, However some of the attitude from the Uptown location has found it's way to this location. The good news is that the owner is very attentive and willing to help make your visit a good experience. I think this is a good place to have a beer or meal. It's loud, which is often difficult to hold a conversation. Bar access can also be difficult if there are no tables. Overall it's a good bar that proves to be an asset to this neighborhood, and I will return again.

  • Nicole P.

I'm sorry to give it a 1. But for this location of the Bulldog it really isn't worth your time. I've visited during a sat night and it was busy (expected) but we were at a table, and there aren't many, and we still waited FOREVER to get drinks or service. I chalked it up to a busy sat night, right? Well I re-visited on a Sunday afternoon when we were in the neighborhood. And again we waited FOREVER to even get asked if we wanted a drink... so long I considered walking out, I was getting up when someone finally came over to hand us a menu. We were at a table sitting at 3 in the afternoon wanting a simple lunch. It takes a lot for me to walk out of a place because I'm generally pretty patient after working in customer service myself. But this was ridiculous, mostly because we were sitting next to the kitchen ... which means the waitress kept walking past us, over and over and over but never stopping by. The tater tots are ok, the wasabi mayo is weak, and the menu selection is good, few unique flavors without over doing it, the iceberg salad is pretty good, but hardly any veg options. The beer selection is the reason to visit, but not the service. I might be willing to try a different Bulldog location, but if your in NE go to Mac's industrial instead

The atmosphere is what makes the Bulldog. Solid drinks and a fun crowd are consistent. The food is good. A lot of people are blown away by their truffle fries - they are so-so - but I find that they ruin my breath for the rest of the night. That said, if you are looking for a casual, low-key place to grab a decent burger or sandwich - the BD is a solid choice.

The service was good but the food is really over priced. The steak sandwich was tasty but not worth $13.50. I wont be back, it was ok but for the price it should have been way better.

The beer selection is great, the servers are informative and cheerful and the fries are so freakin good it's outlandish! My hubs and I loved to go to this place for a quick burger, really good burgers btw, a cold brew and the fries. You can sit outside on the patio and relax on nice days too. It's in a really cool old building and has managed to retain some of it's charm.

Went here with my sister from the U and my husband-we had the truffle burgers and fish and chips and shared them both. The fish wasn't special, but I'm still dreaming about that burger.

The best burgers in town, bar none. On top of that, they have some great appetizers and upscale bar food. I particularly love the fried fresh mozzerella. The beer selection is immense, with tons of belgians on tap. When you're done with dinner/lunch, you can then get a super tasty cupcake that will knock your socks off. Yes, the place tends to be pretty busy, but do you expect a top-notch gastropub, in a popular neighborhood, to be slow on a Saturday night?

There was a post a few weeks back about strange foods that one would not usually eat together. This place had a few of those choices. I was brave and tried the Tater Tot Hot Dish; brussel sprouts, tater tots of course, braised beef, all fried and piled in a bowl. I am not sure what drew me to this concoction, besides a love for tater tots, but oddly enough it was good, just a little salty. They have a decent selection of beer on tap, including some German brews. The bar seemed to feel a bit like super bowl Sunday, with all the TVs going, but it is a Monday during football season, so it was to be expected. Overall I thought It was a good place to grab a drink, maybe better during happy hour?

I've been here twice and it is definitely on my "frequent" visit list. My burger was GREAT. All of my friends loved their food. Menu consisted of basic things with a little fun twist here and there. That said, the place does have a few downfalls. 1. patchy service Wait staff was friendly (if not a bit over-extended) on time 2. But during visit number 1, we sat at the bar and the lack of attention paid to us by the bartender.. who was literally 1 foot away.. was truly amusing. I mean, he had to TRY to not notice our empty glasses and earnest faces. Not worth getting upset about, but looking at other reviews it seems like a common theme. 2.) Busy & LOUD I was shocked when I arrived on a Wednesday at 7 to find it packed. Weekend visit was deafening. 3.) Prices The food prices were totally reasonable. Some of the beer prices were on par with other bars. And some beer prices were bizarrely high. I think I paid 7$ for a 10 oz glass of tilburg. That seemed too steep even for a normal-sized pint... to me. Again, I will go back. The downfalls are more just about knowing what you want on a given night. If you want quiet table with friendly attentive staff... not your place.

I still have a place in my heart for The Bulldog NE. My only issue is that, lately, the burgers have been very average. It's really too bad because I like the atmosphere (except on a Friday or Saturday night) and the beer list is hard to top. It was the awesome food that put this place over the top for me. I really hope it turns around. New chef maybe?

I love this place for its 1-atmosphere, 2-beer selection & 3-awesome bar food & tots. There's a shuffleboard table which is cool if you can get to play. The staff has always been nice & accommodating if our group suddenly doubles. I bring people here from out of town for the 3 items mentioned above and the fact that you CAN have a conversation at this bar!

Bulldog NE is my favorite bar for dinner. The food is good (my wife is partial to the tots), the service is attentive and the price is perfect. They also offer a number of high end beers. Life doesn't get much better than a good burger and a Sammy Smith's Oatmeal Stout.

I've been to the Bulldog in Uptown and NE and I prefer the NE Bulldog. The one in Uptown is definitely a lot smaller, dimly lit, and the crowd is definitely Uptown. The Bulldog NE is located in the perfect spot, right across from Whitey's. They have a small outside patio, but the restaurant is a decent size. Make sure you get the fries--they have different flavors with delicious sauces (try the wasabi mayo.) The burgers are decent and they have a large selection to choose from. I'd say the service is fine and drink selection is right up to par with the other little eateries and bars around NE Mpls. On the weekends, the Bulldog is packed. The crowd is usually a bit older, not very many college-age kids.

This is one of my favorite places to go in Minneapolis. The croud is always fun and the staff is amazing. Hopefully you get Michelle, she is awsome. The food is good and the drink prices are spot on. There is pleanty of seating outside in the summer and the back room of the bar is a great place to have group parties. You won't leave dissapointed. Go check it out.

I've been here a few times. The food is decent and the beer and wine list are good. The atmosphere is what makes it fun though. The bar is in the middle of the space and it's got a very cool warehouse-y meets loft style. It also has a shuffleboard which is kind of old school. I would recommend going here is summer. It's great for lunch on a sunny day.

good food and drink and nice atmosphere... staff and music are good, but the crowd can be annoying... 1/2 are the as i call them "trendy fucks" that think they are better or cooler or smarter than the rest of the world.... if they would just leave, this bar would be great.

Last night I received the worst service and food I've ever gotten at a restaurant. The Bulldog in NE was absolutely horrible to our group. They wouldn't serve three of us who were from Alaska because they didn't believe their ID's were real, it took an hour to get food ordered, an hour to get the food, and a half hour for the bill, which she tacked on an automatic (and far too generous tip). My food was burnt, soggy and expired! How do you manage that? My friends ordered medium burgers that came out well done. The hotdogs were disappointing. The server had an attitude the whole time. I will NEVER be going to the Bulldog again.

Great beer, free shuffle puck, wonderful service, and reasonable prices. The revolving seasonal beer menu will keep us coming back here frequently.

service was slow , waited forever to get our drinks refilled , while waiting for 45+ mins for my burned chicken , my buddy got a burger , small but he said it was ok , other friend had the hotdog basket , bad , never go there again !

OK, I have had a chance to revisit, on a weeknight, during dinner. I've been putting it off because of my previous experience, however, I've been encouraged by several friends to try it again. I had the Italian beef and the tater tots (plain tater tots, not the fancy varieties that they have). I special ordered the beef to be juicy and with sport peppers instead of the giardinaire (or however it's spelled), to add a degree of difficulty and because I like it that way. The beef was good, a bit on the sweet side, but solid, not sloppy enough for my standards, but really good for not being in Chicago. The tots were among the best I have ever had - fried to crisp perfection on the outside yet tender and perfect on the inside. Service was on top of everything, and I was made to feel at home. So much so that I got a banana cream cupcake for desert. Sheer heaven. I think they have won me back over, and I don't think I'd hesitate to go again.

I'm not sure I should really write a review of this place because I am in such a rut. The Junk burger and truffle fries are scrumptious. I adore the beer selection. It seems reasonably priced too. My only complaint is that the South Minneapolis Bulldog is nothing like this Bulldog. It's almost like Bulldog NE is taunting me with its awesomeness.

here's the short: 1. excellent burgers 2. flexible with additions/changes 3. great beer selection 4. competent staff (sadly, quite rare) 5. definitely "grown up frat boy" vibe. 6. lots of televisions playing sports I come here often for its great bar food and beer, but have to spend some energy ignoring my surroundings. It's reasonably priced, with quality ingredients (mmm, kobe beef....) and easy. The service is prompt and good. Due to the crowd and excessive televisions, it is more a place to meet some pals and take in lots of calories than to take a date or have a leisurely meal.

Kobe beef burgers are unique and excellent. Great beer selection. The Bulldog is always really busy at night, so you shouldn't plan for it to be a quick dinner. Have a fun time, bring friends, people watch, enjoy yourself. They have cupcakes for dessert. The first time we went, they had a chocolate one with a melted peanut butter chocolate concoction in the middle that was out of this world.

This particular Bulldog has declined rapidly over the last year in terms of food delivery and service. They do have the best Philly in town when cooked and brought to the table in a timely fashion. They continue to struggle with training a quality staff and the cupcakes are not what they used to be. The owners of this Bulldog need to tighten up the operation, since the original proprietor has nothing to do with it any longer.
