Good, flavorful cold-brewed coffee on a sunny day is a nice treat, dehydration be damneed. Great people in a good atmosphere. Relaxed, friendly, and dog-friendly. I like. If it didn't require a plane trip in a terribly uncomfortable and expensive trip, I suspect I'd be here pretty often.

I thought it was a little strange that this local place connects to a big chain restaurant like Brueggers (and, like Shaun M mentioned, they both serve coffee). Don't get me wrong, I love bagels more than almost anything, but it sort of ruins the coffee shop vibe. The coffee tasted good, the baristas were friendly, and it was quiet enough to study (with enough outlets). It just wasn't anything special.

Comfy seating, fairly reasonable prices, and good iced coffee. I'll be back next time I want to chill with a coffee.

Taraccino is OK if your schedule allows for it. They close kind of early at 7PM on weekdays. This pretty much means I'll only stop by if I happen to be in the immediate area on a weekend to get in some quality time (they close an hour earlier then). The atmosphere is very plain and even feels like a generic chain, so with other coffee shops that have a much better ambiance, better hours, and comparable or better product, I just find myself having a hard time going out of my way to head over or highly recommend it. Not at all a bad option though if you plan on hanging out there until heading out to the numerous late-night destinations a block or two away.

Taraccino Coffee is a nice spot to pick up a tasty caffeinated drink or ice cream before your stroll down the beautiful cobble stone street of historic main, or to sit in on a cold windy day and play a game of scrabble with friends. My partner in crime and I decided to stop in the other night before a movie at the St. Anthony Main Theater. I had a coffee Miel (an espresso drink with honey, milk, and cinnamon.) While ordering I noticed a small selection of board games in the corner. Spying scrabble I suggested a quick game to kill some time before the movie started. We chose from the ample seating to be near the window, and played a lovely game. The drink prices are in the average range in comparison with the local competitors, but there is one feature that I would like to note. They have a specialty drink card where when you buy 10 drinks you get one free! I like this, because there aren't many coffee shops that give you free drinks anymore. The ones that still carry this feature normally only give a 50% off discount after 10. So, this coffee shop is a great place to meet up and treat some friends.

Stopped into this coffee joint this morning. It's almost hidden except for the shop's sign above, or as I discovered upon going in, it shares a door-less doorway with the Bruegger's next door. Odd? Yes. Seeing as they must compete in the coffee department. Anyway, from a first visit, it's seemed clean and the coffee (cappuccino) was fairly strong. The medium was kinda small though. For almost $4 I'd expect more than two fingers of liquid. Maybe a latte next time.

Eh, a better try more than some. Not super experienced baristas. Also, they are gonna get points off for using one of those stupid automated tampers. Come on already, you are a coffeehouse----use the craft! I asked for Ristretto, did not quite get one. However the coffee itself, was ok, not bitter or sour. I think ( may be wrong) they use Wicked Coffee- I think thats the first time I have tasted it. It was thin, because of execution, there was a little crema. But--------- 3 stars, because they fresh ground, the shot did not taste like dirty equipment, and they had small paper cups. Not rocket science, but appreciated that. They need to bag the autotamper and train their kids to be better baristas!!

I just happened to catch a glimpse of this place too. Needed to kill 3 hours before a party in the area. What a pleasant surprise. Plenty of seating, all on one level, no wretched high chairs. There just seemed to be so much room, unlike most Caribou type places, no one is on top of each other. Brick wall, burnt sienna paint, make a nice setting. Some retail, including their own coffee. An above average amount of food and drink selections. The hot chocolate was average. A decent selection of pastries, not sure were it comes from, but appetizing looking lemon and raspberry bars are offered. A case of various cold drinks offered. I like that they don't skimp, many places that can get away with it do, including some Dunn Bros. A nice window view, and plenty of lighting for readers like me. I'm giving it an extra star for the comfort level, and a low noise level if any. For me a coffee house isn't always about the coffee. I like that something extra.

I have not yet tried the coffee there, but why in the world would I when the person I spoke with over the phone, Bill, was completely rude and unprofessional? Bill complained that the store was "noisy and busy" before abruptly hanging up on me. So I called back hoping that someone else would answer, but Bill answered again, pissed I had called back so soon. Probably the worst coffee employee I've ever spoken to so far.

We get the Northeast Mud coffee (dark roast) and it's excellent. The latte's and cappuccino's are also excellent. I highly recommend the coffee cake. It's the best I've ever had! The atmosphere is relaxing and it has a nice local feel.

I live about two blocks away from this coffee shop. I can tell you that it's a nice convenient place to get a latte in the morning (it's located on the corner of Hennepin and University). The lattes I've had here really vary in taste. Sometimes the coffee tastes a little stale (maybe 2 weeks after roasted); sometimes it's great. There's a younger guy with black hair who does great latte art (rosettas mainly), which is always a pleasant surprise. He's a legit barista who pays attention to detail. This is an okay place to do homework or grab a drink to-go. If you're looking for a place to sit down (in the neighborhood), mosey your way over to the Wilde Roast Cafe. They apparently just started to make sandwiches for lunch.....haven't tried them yet.

A comfy coffee shop connected to a bruegger's bagel shop. They have wifi too.

  • Katrina O.

Good coffee, good place to sit and work, but why on earth would you serve a muffin that's clearly been over baked and the top is hard as a hockey puck?! See the picture I have of my blueberry muffin. Once you got rid of the top part muffin was decent...

  • Federica B.

Here's the black swan: many people are enthusiastic about Taraccino, but I'm not...it is indeed a pretty comfy and nice cafè, but nothing special. It is a nice place to work , and I have to say that the wi-fi seems pretty fast, but I'm still not impressed. I think the drinking portions are a bit too little; also, I came once during the week and the waitress didn't tell me about the promotion of the day, even if my order was edible for it. I would have appreciated it a lot!

    (2)
  • Kim N.

During a mid week day was crowded. Since there was only one employee, there was a slight backlog. However she was efficient and got the orders moving along. Solid cold brew to go. Interesting theyre connected to the Bruegger's which seems to have their own coffee? Solid caffeine option in the old, town area

  • Sherri D.

This used to be one of my favorite coffee shops. It wasn't ever exceptional but it was better than any chain in the area, and it was in my neighborhood so I went there almost every day. Recently it seems to have changed. At some point it seems that most of the staff changed. They aren't as friendly as they used to be and have messed up my order every time I've been in there this month. The coffee (which was never THAT great) seems to be worse as well. I hated writing this... I used to love it here.

One of the best coffee houses downtown. Remarkable coffee and an amazing chocolate muffin. Solid wi-fi and decent seating. Not sure you need much else.

Dear Taraccino, I like you a lot. You have a relaxed neighborhoody vibe, and that's nice, because you're in my neighborhood. The coffee is tasty. The waffle offerings are a big plus. My boyfriend and I often say to ourselves, why haven't we been there in a while? And then we remember. You guys tend to play commercial radio. Loud. And it is THE WORST. This may seem like a minor complaint, but it's not. Because it honestly feels like torture. I want to relax with my coffee and book. But there is a DJ screaming lame jokes, and obnoxious commercials for weight loss products, and I feel like I'm going insane. I can't deal with it! There are so many commercial-free options. Rdio, Spotify, XM radio, The Current. It is a very easy change. I beg you to consider it, because I really would love to make you part of my routine.

Weak coffee, slow internet, no cell service in the building. I came here to get stuff done, wasted an hour fighting with the wireless and getting an extra double shot in my Americano so it actually tasted like coffee. No food either, the case has two things in it. And they need to vacuum in here!!

Oh how I have hungered for a good Cuban Coffee! Ever since my Cuban shop guy quit and took with him my morning Cuban coffee I have been searching MN coffee shops for someone that had an idea of how to make a good one. This nice little laid back coffee shop and a understanding for this delightful drink. She added a little cinnamon to the grids and gave it a nice little twist but it was very good! Now off to find a good mojito! KT

I love this place, after having a bad morning this is just what I needed! I was recently in Minneapolis for a long weekend, and on my last day I rented a bike and found this place. It wasn't even that far away from my hotel, so I was gutted I only found it on my last day! The staff were great and friendly, talking to me about where I am from and what I thought of Minnesota. Their coffee menu was great, I tried two of their speciality coffees, both mochas and they were both fantastic. It is a little bit pricey, it was the same prices as a starbucks but it was worth it for a great coffee with a personal touch. The coffee shop was a little small, but felt exactly how a coffee shop should feel, laid-back and relaxed. I spent a while at this coffee shop. I personally think they really nailed how a coffee shop should be. If you are visiting this area, I totally recommend trying this place out. I didn't try any of their food but that also looked really good. :)

Best coffee shop ever. I don't even bother to go to national chains anymore because the quality isn't there. After having a latte at Taracinno, I am disappointed with most other places. The tea lattes are excellent as well.

  • Kat H.

I come here often because I live and work in the area. While the coffee may not be the best I've had, it's definitely decent and the staff members are always so friendly and easy to talk to. I appreciate the cozy, quiet environment which is perfect on days that I just want to read a book, or need to simmer down in between shifts. Keep it up, folks! Also, delicious zucchini muffins.

I love this place with its friendly service and laid back vibe. Great place to study since the background music is never too loud and people generally here to read the news or to study. The best hot chocolate around brings me here too!

Five Stars, you go Taraccino! Great coffee, great brownies and GREAT staff. This is an almost daily stop for me. My only complaint is the cheap plastic cups, but I bring my own so that solves it.

  • Jake B.

Solid coffee and tea offerings. I like supporting small businesses so this place is a great place to spend some coffee money. They have a decent punch card loyalty drink program and it's good for a free drink after every 10 purchases I think. I like that it's directly connected to Brueggers!

This shop used to be a regular stop for me, then negative trends started to happen between late 2011 and 2012. They have less of a food selection than in previous years and are out of many pastries by mid to late morning. The Dark Roast sometimes is great and sometimes bitter there is inconsistency. There is a Barista that tends to take a break while it is busy leaving one poor soul at the counter to handle the rush while she takes a smoke in front. I had to update the password on my device as I have a difficult time connecting to their Wi-Fi and had to frankly give up trying. I asked what the current password was and a guy at counter said he didn't know. He then asked the female Barista and she snapped back, "same as it's always been." They both turned their backs as the female walked off in the back and guy started cleaning the equipment.

It's an unofficial social club for senior citizens. They talk loudly. Not a place to do work.

Taraccino, I never remember how to spell your name. Otherwise I feel quite comfortable here... and I know that for certain because I am actually here right now. I've been here a handful of times and their coffee does what coffee is supposed to do, no more and no less. They also serve some frozen treats in the summer (gelato or ice cream) and lots of sweet frapped specialty drinks, which I skip. I have more of an affinity for lattes and black coffee. I also have an affinity for Taraccino's cool tattoo-like logo of a flying coffee bean with angel wings. It looks so cute printed on their cups like a stylish tramp stamp. I'm not being sarcastic, guys... I really like it. The shop is attached to Bruegger's, so you can get a bagel sandwich or something if you're not interested in their small selection of bakery case items. They also have something on the special board right now about a waffle. Interesting! The atmosphere comfortable, as I said, but it's nothing special aside from an exposed brick wall, some local art and a cute little wood burning fireplace. Looking around, it could be improved greatly with a little investment (spackling the many nail holes in the wall, repainting, getting rid of the hotel lobby carpet, etc.). It could look really fly. Are people still saying "fly?" Notes: Parking is metered nearby, but easy to find during the day. The meters take credit cards and coins.

I've never really been the "coffee shop" type. I'd much rather get my drink and go than head somewhere with my homework, computer, book, friend, etc. I won't say that Taraccino's has changed this for me, but it has significantly increased my coffee shop frequency....which is especially impressive considering that I don't drink coffee (save for the odd cold press or two). Yes, part of it may be that it's right in my neighborhood but I also really enjoy the "vibe" here. Even on the more crowded days, you don't feel like everyone is stopping what they're doing to stare at you when you walk in. The baristas are friendly and funny and I've been here enough that they know my drink (not that a large, black currant ice tea is particularly hard to remember...but it's still nice). There's a wide selection of both hot and cold drinks as well as gelato, baked goods, and waffles (think those are only until one). They also sell pre-packaged coffee and chai as well as those flavored syrups that are used at most shops. Every day of the week (actually...I forget if they do this on Sun. or not...) they have a different daily deal. The only ones I remember off the top of my head are 15% off cold press on Wed. and 10% off bulk coffee on Fri. and Sat. Not bad! They also offer a drink punch card thing so if you'd like to make Taraccino's a habit, pick one up. Their hours are a bit limited in the evening.

Baby it's cold outside. What the hell was I thinking leaving my hat and gloves at home? Apparently the whipping snow flurries weren't a strong enough indicator that it wasn't balmy outside. Thank goodness for Taraccino. I was chilled to the bone and was looking to warm up. Being a good local citizen, I really wanted to avoid a chain shop. So, I took a try at Honey -- the newish lounge next to Ginger Hop. Not open till 5:30. Were they hinting that 4 is too early for a drink? Then upon seeing the Rachel's across the street, I caught a tiny glimpse of Taraccino Cafe. Quick side note here... what the hell is that Rachel's all about? Did a Rachel's restaurant exist here once -- I feel like I've seen it forever but never with an accompanying business, but anyway... I ducked into Taraccino for a latte. It's a nice spot -- I wouldn't say there's a ton of character, but that's probably because it opens up with Bruegger's, which I wouldn't classify as a bastion of original thought. There's a tiny stove top fire place, which considering the weather, was a lovely sight. The servers were friendly and they delivered my milk-art latte to my table. Nice touch. The drink is pretty decent as well. They have wifi and it's an OK spot to get some work done. While I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, I'm sure appreciative of it today.

If your in the neighborhood, check it out. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Taraccino, but when I am in the hood and looking to get work done, or just jonesing for some java this is where I go. The coffee is ok the atmosphere is average internet sketchy (hasn't worked for me the past few times), but the baristas are great! In North East? Taraccino GO!!!

I used to live in Marcy Holmes, and this was my go-to for coffee. I love this place so much that I now drive all the way from Midway St. Paul to get a bag of their delicious Nordeast Mud. Go in Fri-Sun, and get your bagged coffee at a weekend discount! Savings are savings! I love the baristas. I guess maybe it's because I was a barista for many years in several different shops, but I can't help but be a coffee snob - and I think this is the ONLY place I've gotten a decent latte or Americano in Minneapolis since I made my own. Everything else just tastes burnt and gross, but either their beans are just that good, or these guys know their stuff. Never super bubbly foam, and always enough room for cream. They also carry great pastries, and though I can't eat them I know joy when I see it on a diner's face.

This is my coffee shop. Not literally but out of the 3 other coffee providers (Surdyks, Panera and Brueggers) I only buy my coffee from Taraccino. Why? Because I like that they know about their coffee, it's not just some chain store that carries generic coffee. They really are a true Minneapolis coffee shop. I drink the Nordeast Mud (dark roast) just about every day. They have succeeded in making their location inviting and unique with a rotating art gallery on the walls and a fireplace with plush chairs to lounge in. I am also a wedding photographer and I often choose this spot to meet clients. Two thumbs up (more if i was a mutant)!

    (5)
  • Cora M.

If you want a good, quality coffee, these guys don't mess around! Their Nordeast Mud is the best dark roast in the cities! It is also a good, quiet environment to get work done in. Good service, free wifi and a comfortable atmosphere!

Wow what a Gem... Glad I missed the bus.. It was cold and damp out I wanted something warm to drink... I looked up and here was a coffee shop. So I walked in and it was very inviting lots of seating and cozy spots to settle in and enjoy a coffee. So I thought cool get a large Columbia coffee and rest my feat..... Then I tasted the Coffee and it was wonderful and I have done the whole Starbucks/Caribou things for years and this was great coffee. I sat my butt in a over sized leather couch were I felt so comfortable. Other people were having a small meeting at functional tables or working the laptop without disruption. Myself I whipped out the smart phone and found some great killer open WIFI network and updated my e-mail in record speed. I am making this wonderful shop my weekly stopping off point for myself and friends..... PS: its connected to a Burgers bagels and has nice bathrooms and convenient access to bus line 10 and 11.

After a good dinner at Ginger Hop (across the road from here), my lady and I wanted a cup of coffee before we were off for the night. This was the closest place and definitely worth the stop! I had a toffee nut mocha and my lady had a Chai latte. Both were delicious. I am not a huge fan of Chai, but it was tasty and good for what it was. The toffee nut mocha was not too sweet and gave me just enough after dinner jolt to get over the post-meal nap! The atmosphere is standard for a Minneapolis coffee shop; local art on the walls, hollowed out building with brick walls, chalkboard menu, etc. Not generic, but not unique either. One bummer is that they close early. They were closing at 7 on a Friday! Most days are this early. Maybe there is just not business for it? Anyway, if I am around again and need a cup of joe, I will be stopping! Why get corporate when you could get Taraccino?

Good coffee, good place to sit and work, but why on earth would you serve a muffin that's clearly been over baked and the top is hard as a hockey puck?! See the picture I have of my blueberry muffin. Once you got rid of the top part muffin was decent...

During a mid week day was crowded. Since there was only one employee, there was a slight backlog. However she was efficient and got the orders moving along. Solid cold brew to go. Interesting theyre connected to the Bruegger's which seems to have their own coffee? Solid caffeine option in the old, town area

Best coffee shop ever. I don't even bother to go to national chains anymore because the quality isn't there. After having a latte at Taracinno, I am disappointed with most other places. The tea lattes are excellent as well.

Solid coffee and tea offerings. I like supporting small businesses so this place is a great place to spend some coffee money. They have a decent punch card loyalty drink program and it's good for a free drink after every 10 purchases I think. I like that it's directly connected to Brueggers!

If you want a good, quality coffee, these guys don't mess around! Their Nordeast Mud is the best dark roast in the cities! It is also a good, quiet environment to get work done in. Good service, free wifi and a comfortable atmosphere!
