I realize one shouldn't order salad at a bar, but when it's late and you're staying at the hotel, laziness makes one convinced it can't be that bad. But it is. Ordered the chicken Asian salad. Now imagine that thick, cheap teriyaki glaze you buy at the grocery store to marinate your chicken... and then decided it would be great to dump the whole bottle on some lettuce. And while your at it, dump a second bottle on a dry cooked chicken breast, too. Save yourself and stick to bar food if you dare venture here.

This place was just a place to go because it was absolutely freezing outside and we had just came from ice skating and wanted to get some drinks. We ordered Run runner: mailbu, Meyers and captain Morgan run, fresh squeezed orange, pineapple juice, dash of Grenadine: nice and strong. This one was just ok. I was expecting it to be better. Cucumber mule: absolut citron, pimm's no. 1, ginger beer, English cucumber, freshly squeezed lime. My husband had this and he liked it. Mocha-good Chai tea latte-ok Overall it was a good experience.

Always awesome service when Johnny is working at the bar. He knows his regulars by name and makes you feel at home!

This place is pretty decent for a hotel bar. That's what it is; don't mistake it for a hidden gem independent of the Depot Hotel. However, it does have some things going for it. The bartender was friendly and conversational, and they have some nice local brews on tap. The place is a bit swank because it's part of the hotel, but if you don't mind that it's an OK spot to get a beer or two while in the area. The happy-hour food specials looked pretty good, but I'm not sure if I'd order food here unless I was going to be there for a while or was staying at the hotel. I took a peek at their patio and it seems that in fair weather it'd be fun to hang out there and enjoy the outdoors, and possibly their fire pit. What was really cool about the Stone Arch Bar, though, is all the Milwaukee Road stuff they have on display, and the historical nature of the old depot, which gives the hotel its name. They have a lot of artifacts from the train line on display behind glass cabinets and a lot of it is really interesting and cool. They also have loads of beautifully framed posters that hark back to when the Milwaukee Road was a slick, new form of travel out west. This museum aspect really improved the place's stock in my opinion, and you are free to roam around the lobby area where they have stuff on display throughout the first floor of the hotel. Definitely worth a look!

The Stone Arch is the Bar & Lounge located in the "The Depot Minneapolis" - nice ambiance, lots of comfortable tables, chairs, couches, a gas log fireplace, nice bar, and large flat panel HD TVs. Nice selection of beers, I had a couple of different beers, an Irish beer and a pale ale - both were good. I also ordered the Cajun wings one evening in the bar. I was not impressed with them - it was almost like a Cajun Shake n' Bake coating.

ok the service at this place sucks. i almost gave it 2 stars just because i was there for a surly event but the service was so bad. i showed up around 6 - my buddy was stuck in traffic probably showed up a half hour later. no server stopped by my table in that half hour. i walked up and omar from surly filled me up a free beer. my friend showed up - we both waited for another 15 minutes or so and still no service. finally we stared down a waiter passing by and he barely stopped asking "are you two alright?" but still didnt ask if we wanted to order anything just walked inside while my friend went to get his beer. so we drank our beers for another 15-20 minutes no service. a waitress stopped by to put down place settings and said "dont mind me, we're just putting down place settings for dinner" finally i asked if we could order something and she said yeah sure. this was about an hour after being there and i had to ask if it was alright to order something? my cheeseburger wasnt that good, pretty dry and plain. i've made better at home. anyways we ended up getting free surly all night because surly and their owner is just plain awesome. this doesnt hide the fact that the depot's service sucked. i mean i put up with bad service here and there especially if a place is really packed, but this was just terrible. i would not go back there unless there was another surly event or something else really awesome going on.
