Let me just start out by saying that I am NEVER one to give bad reviews. I tend to always give the benefit of the doubt. To everyone. Always. That being said, let me tell you about my experience at Skywater. My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day. There was a dinner special for two, and I had been there before for lunch and liked the food. When we got there, the hostess told us that our reservation was NOT at 7:30 (the time we had requested), but in fact at 7. That was the first strike, as we checked our confirmation message. Our reservation was supposed to be at 7:30, just as we told her. Anyway, no big deal. They weren't very busy so she seated us right away. Our server came over and asked if we wanted drinks. We requested that she bring us a drink menu, so she did. However, she didn't return for probably a good 15 minutes after that. Eventually we got our drinks and placed our dinner order. The meal was an appetizer, salads, entrees, and a dessert. The appetizer was delivered promptly. We waited quite some time for our salads. As we were waiting (probably 20 minutes), our entree came out. It was wrong. On top of that, we still didn't have our salads. We expressed this to the server and she brought them out. I told her we would just keep the food, even though the meat wasn't cooked how we had requested. It was close enough, and we just wanted to eat at this point. She came back later to tell us that our meal was actually switched with another couple's. She was not attentive at all, and as I said earlier, they were not busy. We were quite frustrated. When it came time for dessert, we asked for it to go. Again, our server was so scarce, we had to flag down a bus boy and ask to see the manager. When the manager approached our table, he immediately started making excuses. He didn't even let us speak. He told us there was a mix-up in the kitchen, and blah blah blah. He offered us a free appetizer or dessert, but we said we just wanted to leave and we were no longer hungry. He basically just seemed to blow it off, say a very unconvincing "sorry about that," and walked away. We waited (no exaggeration here) about 25-30 minutes for the server to come back and take our payment. We couldn't believe how horrible the service was! Honestly, if they had explained everything as it happened and been more attentive, we wouldn't have been so mad. It was the sitting and waiting, wondering what was going on that really irritated us. When the server finally came back, my boyfriend went to hand her his card. She said, "Oh, don't worry about it, we decided to take care of the meal for you guys." Oh, well that would've been great to know 30 MINUTES AGO. The overall experience took about 2 hours. The only redeeming quality was that I thought the food was good. I had filet mignon, a baked potato, and asparagus. That's the only reason this place is getting 2 stars from me.

I went here because of the Breakfast with Santa event. I don't think I would go otherwise, but it's nice for my kid to see Santa without huge lines. The food is ok, nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about either. Expensive for what you get though. Ambiance is nice enough, especially for a hotel.

For a hotel restaurant & bar, this is not too bad. The space is very open as it's essentially a bar/dining area within a large lobby of the first floor of the Hilton. On a weeknight a large group of us was easily accommodated. I was surprised they didn't have a late-night happy hour, this seems like a must, especially if you are ordering drinks & food past 10! The wine is probably going to average at around $8-9 a glass - so yes that late night special would have been lovely. I was surprisingly delighted by the Neopolitan pizza, very tomato-y and not sweet, the mozzarella was plentiful and melted perfectly, I pretty much polished it off single-handedly, and I am fairly sure it was meant to be shared. The GF crust was rather inflated, a whopping $5 extra?! That seems unreasonable. But it is nice that they do have a few GF options on their menu. Get the pizza here, it was better than expected for a hotel dining spot late at night! I will say that in general, late at night when people are ordering drinks, it would be nice to have the server bring water for all, and refill. I made a comment that water for all would be nice once we were seated, but only several glasses were brought out and extras were not brought later, it was a bit awkward considering several of us wanted water. Or perhaps just bring out glasses & a pitcher of water and people can serve themselves if they do want water.

The last Saturday before Xmas. The last Holidazzle of the year. All restaurants that take reservations are booked. It's the most predictable night of the year. Skywater is swamped and understaffed. Just like last year. Kudos to the floor staff for making the place work. Food has been consistently good and nicely presented on the several occasions I've been here. Problem is, one can never guess how fast or slow service will be.

And I thought it was just me. See review by Melanie C., surprisingly on the SAME menu item the same month! First of all, for a hotel restaurant, the food itself is not bad. The problem? They are in Minneapolis, with prices like New York, portions like a health spa, and service like...well...anyplace in France when they know you are American. I ordered a dinner Greek salad. It came out on a tiny side plate. I said "I wanted the dinner portion" to the waiter who confirmed, that WAS the dinner portion. Not for $10 I said. He brought me another portion - no charge. Fair enough. The two portions together did not make a decent side salad. (Charge more, serve less, chic? Not!) I also ordered the "fresh" motzarella Caprese salad. I can recognize the size, shape, and taste of motzarella balls from the giant foodservice containers as well as anyone. That they were soaked, not drizzled, in olive oil was the other tipoff. I thought my $10 martini (again - Minneapolis Hilton - not New York Hilton) would sooth my gastronomic disappointment, but this too was below par for the price. My service was OK, but just OK. At these prices I'm used to having to shoo the wait staff away. I was the only person in the restaurant (early) so should not have had to wait for refills, to complain about my salad, etc.. They apparently had pressing business to attend to in the serving station which I could see from my table. There are MANY great places for similar or lower price very nearby. The hotel - not bad. Located on the edge of the business district downtown. Connected to the skyways. Sleep there, eat elsewhere.

Skywater is the lobby bar for the downtown Minneapolis Hilton. During a recent stay I visited this place a few times. To keep it simple, its a solid hotel bar. Expensive, but the service and food were good. For the longer version. The bar was typically pretty empty except for one night when a trade show ended and there wasn't an open seat in the house. The drinks were well made but expensive, typical hotel bar. The only food I ate was an appetizer sampler and it was pretty good. The highlight was the grilled wings which were amazing. The service from the bartenders was also top notch. One pleasant surprise was that they had a football special on Sunday. It offered a few cheap appetizers and a pitcher of beer for $7. All and all its a decent place to check out if you're in the Hilton.

I met some friends for appetizers and drinks after the Holidazzle Parade, and was disappointed. Drinks were fine, but the onion rings were tough. We had chicken wings that were undercooked and flavorless and potato skins that were overcooked. Wow, not what I was expecting!

I was here on business and, frankly, blown away by the food. Looking at the other reviews maybe I hit it on a lucky day but I had a BBQ sandwich and slaw and it was quite possibly one of the best lunches I've had this year. Crowd was sparse, service was excellent.

In a year of Yelping I've never written a 1-star review, until now... I was in town on a business trip and hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch due to a rather busy morning. I was famished by late afternoon and beginning to babble due to low blood sugar, so my co-worker suggested we eat ASAP. The Hilton's restaurant was the closest, so we ducked in to have a quick sit down meal. OK - first off, the place was deserted. So much so that we had to ask the bartender in the lounge if the restaurant was even open. He confirmed that is was, and told us feel free to sit anywhere. This should have been a tip-off as to what was going to ensue. We grabbed a booth and waited. And waited. And waited. With about two servers on the floor completely ignoring us. Finally we saw that a hostess had returned from somewhere, and my companion went and asked her for menus. When our server decided it was time to pay attention to us, we both ordered the Greek Salad with Pita Bread - and a diet coke. My companion got a sparkling, carbonated beverage - I got something that was flat and tasted like mold. At first I thought they had given me iced tea by mistake, but even iced tea doesn't taste like that. Weird. The salads, when they finally came, were a scant cup of iceberg lettuce drenched in dressing with 3 triangles of pita on the side. A total joke for the $10.00 they charged. Food - price - service = 1 star - and barely that.

I recommend for breakfast. They have a delicious burrito with veggies, cheese and chorizo. The turkey club was ridiculously big. I could not finish half and had to pull meat out. They should update their white wine list with better selections. Nice bar area and friendly, servers with personality.

Great place for a late night brew and snack. The kitchen is open late and has a decent selection of burgers and sandwiches. The draft beer selection is awesome - several local brews. The atmosphere is pleasant in the Hilton lobby. My main complaint is that it is often too crowded to get a seat ant too noisy due to the convention crowd.

    It's just hotel food.

Pros: our waiter, Todd, was wonderful. Attentive, personable, and so on. He really took care of us. He kept our drinks full and checked on us frequently. My mom and I both ordered a pizza and a side salad. The salad was fresh and made to our specifications. It was excellent. Our pizzas, however, REALLY blew us away. I ordered the Philadelphia Cheesesteak Pizza and my mom ordered a custom pizza with pepperoni and red onion. We each had a little of each other's - both were fantastic. The sauce on hers was sweet and perfectly seasoned. The shaved prime rip on mine was cooked well and melted in my mouth. Cons - we stood around for several minutes trying to find the hostess so that we could claim our reservation. It turned out she was up at the bar talking to others rather than at the hostess stand. That was irritating. Overall, would go again. The food was so great and very reasonably-priced. I was a fan.

Okay so I rarely give such low scores but I kind of want to cry after putting their food in my mouth...twice now. The service is great, friendly and quick. However, the food quality and taste leaves a whole lot to be desired. During my stay at the Hilton Minneapolis, the hotel has been clean and elegant feeling, which is why I am so surprised that their food tastes like a seedy truck stop diner in somewhere, USA. Disregard the fancy names and dish descriptions. Whoever they've hired to cook the dishes needs to go to culinary school again perhaps. I ordered a turkey burger last night and spat out two larges pieces of gristle which had the same flavor as my burger...fatty and gross. In the morning, I ordered their healthy scramble and it had more oil on and in it than the word "healthy" would suggest. For $14 you would expect some semblance of effort to make something edible but I took three bites and gave up the fight. My coffee and scramble came to $19. What the crap and for what?! Don't get me wrong. Great service and technically the ingredients can be called "food", but for the love of all that's holy, what did I do to deserve such an offense to my tastebuds??? Do not eat here if you can avoid it. Until they raise the quality and standard for their food, you're better off eating at a gas station and you'll save $15 or so.

GREAT food. Hotel prices. Not much else to say, folks. It's reliable, quality food... custom omelettes on the breakfast buffet... a variety of entrees that will please any palate... at inflated hotel restaurant prices.

This is the lobby bar/restaurant for the Hilton. I can only base my review on the desert that I ordered to take up to my room. I had the carmel apple pie w/ cinammon ice cream...it was extremely tasty. I ordered for the bartender & he seemed friendly enough. Over charged my credit card, but corrected it fairly quickly.

Lots of people standing around, nobody working, food was terrible. I guess if you are stuck in the hotel and not willing to go out, it would get some business, otherwise why would anyone dine here?

I stayed in town for a conference at the Hilton Minneapolis and ate dinner here on two occasions. The first night I had the meditteranean salad with the grill salmon and a glass of reisling and the second night I had appetizers while watching the Blackhawks game at the bar. I snacked on the tempura fried green beans and guacamole with pita chips. Everything I had was enjoyable and prepared well. Prices were moderately high and service was good.

Overpriced for meh food. The turkey burger was average but the 'quinoa salad' was awful... more like a mango chutney with pieces of quinoa and fruit mixed in. Bleh. Also, hard to pay $8 a glass for a Cab that probably costs about that much a bottle. This place stays busy due to proximity to the Convention Center.

I dined here with 3 other women on a Saturday night. We were staying in the hotel, and we didn't want to venture into the rain to get dinner. Our water took a little time to warm up to us, but eventually, he did. He did accommodate all of our special orders for non-standard side dishes; for 3 of us, brussels sprouts or soft pretzel sticks were substituted for chips. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of soft pretzel sticks. I received 2 soft pretzels sticks, which were amazing, and I'd go back and order them again, possibly a full order. The chicken sandwich was nicely seasoned and tasted good. The other women also enjoyed their meals, and it was a fun, low-key evening.
