I have an allergic reaction to all these salad-bar-hopping, juice-cleansing, quinoa-loving, non-GMO-sourcing, overcharging, whole foods communes popping up all over the skyway (I have the Ron Swanson gene). And I live in the bearded part of Uptown! So, yeah, the struggle is real. But I do love me some Simpls. They are located in the 6Quebec building, right next to the salon (or is it the Erbs & Gerbs?) and across the Indian fast food joint. Simpls is a grab-and-go place with plenty of great, filling options like sandwiches (full and half), salads, and soups. They have interesting, healthy snacks (probably organic, too) that I haven't tried yet and, of course, the muffins are gluten free. By the way, if you don't want any gluten, can I have it? Also, STFU. My favoritest thing I've tried so far is the beef chili. Oh, I'm sorry, the free-range beef chili. It is super flavorful, not too salty, plenty of meat, and just soul-warming. I get it with a half sandwich like the pesto chicken and pepper jack on sourdough. I also like perusing their cold drinks section, and so far I've tried the Gray Duck Chai (eh) and Joia Soda, a Yelp event favorite. So, yeah, I guess I'm immune to Simpls. Bonus hippy tip: If you reuse the paper bag they give you at check-out for your next trip, you get 10 cents off your next purchase.

Simpls, or as my coworker and I call it "the market place", is my new obsession right now. This drop in market offers interesting and different sandwich and salad options, this ain't no Au Bon Pain. They have a wide variety of healthier choices including but not limited to yogurts, granola bars, kombucha. My favorite thing to do during lunch is walk over to check out the soups. They're always hearty, unique and very well done. Plus I have not had an overly salty one thus far, which most soups anywhere are. The two standouts are Brazilian Stew, filing and coconut-y, and their beef chili, light on the beans. And the cashiers are always friendly and outwardly exhibit happiness at working there.

Score!! An awesome healthy breakfast/lunch/snack food option downtown! And this one? Wow. This one is pretty special. Now, this isn't a sit-down restaurant. It's a grab-and-go breakfast and lunch spot, so just something to keep in mind if you are trying to make plans (plus they close at 3pm sharp, so beware late-day snackers). They have tons of healthy food options--from fresh soups that are gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and dairy-free to salads and sandwiches that are all fresh and delicious. I also love their healthy snacks like hardboiled eggs, veggies, fruit, quinoa and of course packaged food like KIND bars and snap pea crisps. They also sell my favorite local gluten-free baked goods from Sift Bakery. Plus coffee. Oatmeal. And fresh kombucha. This is a health nerd or someone with dietary restriction's dream.

I stop here fairly often for the soups and like them a lot. Today, though, I got the spinach, beet & feta salad and let me just say wow! I got the small size but might go back to buy a large one to take home. Everything's really fresh & the white balsamic is perfect - not too tart with good seasonings. Yep, I'm a fan.

SIMPLS is my new favorite lunch spot in the Skyway. I met the owners the first time I visited, they truly walk the walk when it comes to believing in fresh, locally sourced food, and you can feel the passion they put into their store. Every time I've visited since, they've had their local vendors in showcasing product, which I think is a really cool way to get people connected with their local food community. The soups are fantastic, I recommend either of the chilis, and have tried a number of the other rotating options they've had as well. They do a great job of mixing up the options, it is exciting to go in each time and just see what new things they have brought in. I'd also highly recommend trying the cold press coffee or kombucha (on tap). Both are unique and taste great, and you won't find those anywhere else downtown. They also have a huge selection of local high quality sweet and salty snacks, I almost always pick up a few things to bring back for my team.

A little healthy oraganic oasis in the downtown skyway system! It's all grab-and-go items. Salads and sandwiches made fresh daily. I find the sandwiches are really heavy on the sauce - which was a let down for me. I think they could cut the amount of sauce they put on the sandwiches by half or more even and they'd be even better. The salads are good. I like that they have HALF salad and HALF sandwich options. They have Awesome made from scratch soups. My co-worker said the chili was just like her grandma used to make! They also have a cooler with things like cups of grapes or meats and cheeses, yogurt, etc. Lots of granola-type bar options too. My favorite part is the locally made "Prohibition Kombucha" that they have ON TAP! The ginger is wonderful! It doesn't taste vinegary like many Kombuchas do. I would describe it as tasting more like a not overly sweet ginger ale. So, check this place out for healthy options on the go.

I love this place. The food is simply amazing and you get enough for what you pay. The staff is also helpful and always has a smile on their face. I love their chili (vegetarian and grass fed-beef). Also, their smoked turkey sandwich is great and light. I will continue to go there for lunch instead of other salad/sandwich places in the skyway- beats Panera (hands down)

Super convenient, super tasty food. It's more expensive than your basic sandwich, but the ultra-high quality ingredients and flavor easily justify the price. All their food is locally sourced and all ingredients, from the flour to the lettuce to the meat, lived a happy and organic life. This means a lot to me and I'm equally happy to support a local (!) business like Simpls. (Andy BTW, that turkey sandwich was the stuff dreams are made of.)

Great spot for coffee (Peace!), oatmeal and sandwiches. Natural and healthy are the themes. I have especially enjoyed the vegetable torta, which includes several vegetables and a spicy guacamole. Staff are helpful and pleasant. Several soups each day, and nice selection of cold beverages. I strongly recommend as a stop on the Skyway for Downtown workers.

This place seriously cannot get any better! I like to eat as local, organic and natural as possible, so this place is a godsend! The sandwiches are amazing, but since I have recently gone wheat-free, the salads are my favorite choice and they sure are fantastic - combinations of fresh ingredients that I would never think of, but together they make magic. They also have tons of snacks (cheese sticks, meat sticks, quinoa, hard boiled eggs) and lots of neat drinks (boxed water anyone?). I can't say enough about how great this place is!

I love oatmeal! I'm very picky too! Simpls has the best, and cheapest downtown. You fix it how you like with the various, free, toppings you can put on yourself. Amen! Walnuts, almonds, cranberries, chocolate chips, cinnamon, brown sugar, maple syrup, white sugar, agave nectar, almonds milk and cows milk. I feel like I'm forgetting something ..... Guess I'll have to go back tomorrow too check. :). They even serve it in compostable bowls & spoons, rad-I know. They are always jammin to some good tunes so why not stop by and shake your booty and smile today. Feeding your body & mind healthy, conscious foods makes a huge difference energetically. Raise your vibration at Simpls today!

Want a healthy snack, downtown? Then come to Simpls! This is the skyway snack shop I've been dreaming of, and can't believe it's finally here. If you are looking for Gardetto's and Doritos, go elsewhere, or don't, come here and find a healthy alternative that is likely GMO free & organic, and possibly even locally made. Some of my favorite brands are here, and also you can get many items for a quick lunch to-go, like soups, salads and sandwiches, little meat & cheese cups, there are yogurts, fresh kombucha, fruit and more. Some of the pre-packaged lunches and items are from AgraCulture. There are plenty of gluten free options, even paleo options! There are chocolates, jerkies, bars, chip alternatives, seeds, nuts, trail-mixes, you name it. And none of it is processed junk. Take a look, it's a cute little shop and has a lot to pick from!

Finally! A healthy, local, farm-to-table skyway option in downtown Minneapolis. Working and eating lunch downtown every week can be a drain on the wallet and a stretch to the gut. So you can imagine my excitement when I casually discovered SIMPLS in the skyway! Think made-fresh-daily sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads with other local snacks, desserts and beverages that support the MN economy. Sandwiches, wraps and salads are from AgraCulture, Common Roots and others local restaurants in the metro area. Sweet & salty snacks are from local favs like B. T. McElrath Chocolatier, Way Better Snacks, Seven Sundays & more. There is a decent breakfast selection here including coffee, bagels, muffins & oatmeal. While I'm loving a SIMPLS, a few thoughts on how to make it even better! - Put a list of your soups/sandwiches/salads you get in for the day online. (My walk to SIMPLS is a good 15 mins so entice me with telling me what you've got online!) - I'd love to see SIMPLS develop a loyalty program. Prices are higher because the food quality is better so it's hard to justify coming here as often as I'd like. Looks like they offering catering for anyone looking for an alternative lunch options to bring to your office meetings.

New favorite spot! They have tons of organic and vegan options which I really appreciate considering the limited healthy options available in the skyway. The Vegetable Torta sandwich is great and so are they soups. Love have this around!

Okay I have walked by Simpl multiple times since they have opened but I finally decided to go in and try their food. It's an organic grab and go spot with a grocery store feel with coolers etc. Today they had a sample of some chai tea out front from a company that makes it right out of Saint Paul. All ingredients come from local growers and spots which is pretty cool to support our local venues. They have items from common roots cafe and Verdant tea as well. I came a little after prime time (closer to 1pm) to grab something for my lunch. They have a deal for a combo of either half a sandwich, half salad , or 12 oz soup. I ended up getting the potato cauliflower soup and the apple wild rice salad. Soup sounded good but was bland so I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to add some flavor Salad was better, I have to say the ingredients you can tell are really fresh and of high quality so kudos to them for getting the best ingredients for their food! The spinach was fresh and really green and huge leaves! I liked the bits of apple and blue cheese combo (I am sucker for that) and the wild rice was a good idea, I normally don't like it but it gave it a nice texture to the salad. It came with a fennel dressing, which had a nice tang to it, more of a citrus balsamic taste to it. The food was decent but not spectacular. I do like the idea of organic and local ingredients and maybe it was an off day for their soup. Their chili smelled and looked great I may have to go back to give it another try and maybe would change my mind about the 3-star rating I am giving it today

I got an amazing salad with feta, beats, nuts, healthy greens and quinoa among other things. The salad was labeled s little wrong but I didn't find any bad greens or lettuce which is always a plus when picking up a pre-made salad. It takes a while to get here via skyway from UST but it's worth it. The prices are reasonable and they have a good amount of vegetarian options. I've also had their egg salad half sandwiches and the bread wasn't too hard but certainly would be at the end of the day. All in all, this is a good spot and I'll be going back.

Simpls, is a simple concept in Mpls (a play on MPLS?). Great "whole" food in the Skyway. Not quite a convenience store (there's one of these in every building downtown), not quite a coffee shop, Simpls seems to thread the needle by offering mostly organic, mostly local grab and go food. Bagles, organic energy bars, fresh fruit, and my favorite COLD PRESS COFFEE ON TAP. Yep, that's right coffee served up from something akin to a beer-mister. Unique place for downtown Minneapolis. This will be a go to place for me when I'm on the go.

SIMPLS is the best thing to happen to the Minneapolis skyway in recent memory. It's a godsend for those of us who work Downtown and need to buy lunch, snacks, or a tasty beverage on the occasional. Since SIMPLS opened earlier this year, I've patroned their store at least one to two times every week. They have superb soups on rotation of four at a time (I've tried at least six different kinds), a variety of fresh artisanal salads and sandwiches, and loads of organic and all natural snacks from local and national makers. No need for an afternoon coffee pick-me-up for SIMPLS has kombucha from Verdant Tea on tap! SIMPLS is the perfect place to drop by for a well crafted lunch with quality ingredients and a bevy of great snack options. #soupthereitis

I LOVE this place. I read about it last week and went looking for them today. I was impressed. What a great spot for anyone in downtown Minneapolis looking for a delicious, nutritious soup, salad and/or Trader Joes-type snacks and sundries. These are non-corporate whole foods right here in our skyway (across the hall from ZenBox at 6th and Marquette). The fresh soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps come from the kitchen at Common Roots, and I know their food is delicious, fresh and locally-sourced/organic whenever possible. I just had a beautiful roasted beet, quinoa and feta salad with balsamic dressing that I think was around $7. I also picked up a dark chocolate almond bar (from a small chocolatier in Plymouth) and my favorite coconut chips which are sadly now gone. Thank goodness there are technically only two servings in the bag. I have a theory. When you eat at a restaurant where people are genuinely happy and where the chef puts love on the plate, you also feed your soul. I feel that way about this place. Support them until they are forced to expand.

Kombucha on tap (go sample if you've never tried it)! Nice looking soup, salad, sandwich and snack options. I enjoyed the beef chili and definitely plan to try more of Simpls' offerings.

The ever expanding varieties of organic and locally sourced food products is wonderful! Having Warm oatmeal with organic toppings and savory soups, snacks made out of good for you ingrediants and high quality chocolates brings a fun new energy to the skyway. The staff is knowledgable and kind.

All I can say is WOW! I was in town visiting some friends and we stopped in for lunch. I love the look and feel of this place. It definitely conveys a locally grown, sustainable atmosphere. The food is amazing. All of their food is made from locally sourced farmers and supplies. I can't wait to stop by again when I'm in town. You must try this place out!

I do appreciate that a store like this is now opened in the skyway. I can go in and get some healthy treats that's not too far like Trade Joes or Whole Foods. I tried their beef sticks, veggie soup and half sandwich. They offer a half sandwich and half soup for a decent price, however the sandwich that I got looked like it was more like 1/4 sized sandwich. The soup was a good 12 oz sized and tasted all right. The sandwich bread was not as soft as I would've liked it to be so it wasn't fresh. I wanted to try their chilli, but each time I went, it was never ready. Maybe they need to heat this up the minute they come in. I was there at 11 and the chili was still not ready. Too bad, because it looked really good. Some of us like to avoid the crowds, so we get there earlier. I wanted to try their salads, but they looked like they were way too small for the price; the salads barely filled half way in the containers they were in. Now I know why the ladies that work there are so skinny. :p Beef sticks were yummy. Layout and design of the store fits the concept of the store well. For lunch, Allie's Deli is not too far from away and offers a better and tastier deal. I would come here again, but more for snacks than lunch. A suggestion for the store: heat up your soups earlier and either get different sized containers for your salads to make them look fuller or or simply fill up the containers. Even the full sized salads were only filled half way. I seriously got confused on which ones were regular and half sized. Overall, great concept store, but needs a few improvements. *Edit* I finally got to try their chili and it was awesome. Best in the skyway. I used to eat the chili from Allie's, but they make it too salty; the chili from Simpls was perfect. I also tried the salads and they were good too. Their salads have some ingredients I've never tried before, and I actually love all I've tried so far. Also, I appreciate the feedback from management and that they care what their customers have to say. For these reasons, I upgraded the rating from 4 to 5 stars.
