Nice friendly place located in northstar. Ordered the Wednesday special which was a chicken pineapple sandwich. Enjoyed it. They use 100% chicken which is a major bonus! Good place where they will make your food with fresh and nutritious items... A little pricey but I'd rather pay a little more not to clog my arteries :)

I got the chicken wings. They were hot and crispy, but miniature. Most were smaller than a post it note. What are these, chicken wings for ants? Chickens just hatched? 8 dollars and I got 7 tiny wings and some coleslaw. I feel like this is ridiculous. EDIT: Now that I'm done consuming my miniscule amount of food, I can elaborate more on my experience. It took 10 minutes. You get to choose sauces, I chose buffalo and blue cheese. The buffalo sauce tastes basically like reduced cayenne sauce. Like, take crystal or Louisiana and boil it for a while, and I think you'd get this sauce. The blue cheese was warm, and the buffalo sauce cold. Odd. I think I've said enough about the wings. The coleslaw was actually surprisingly good. There was nothing exceptional here, and I feel like I can get mediocre to terrible much cheaper. I will not likely return.

I've been here a few times and while I didn't hate it, whenever it comes up in my mind for a lunch option, I literally shrug it off with a 'meh, I could do better'. The various sauces for the chicken are kinda cool, but most of their sides and stuff seem to be done fried-from-frozen in the back room. Plus whenever I cruise by this place there's no one eating there, which further discourages me. The biggest thing for me is that it's overpriced. I don't want to knock the place too much, because the people there seem friendly and all, but for what you get I just don't want to pay upwards of $8-10 for it. If it were cheaper I might pop in once in a while. As it is, it doesn't make the cut the majority of the time.

Not sure why some of the ratings are so low, what are you expecting? This is a hole in the wall skyway joint in Mpls....on the street level. Essentially you get pulled pork, beef or chicken and then choose your sauce. Make it a basket with tots, onion petals, coleslaw or another choice or two. They do have occasional specials like turkey & mashed potatoes or walleye fingers. After sampling a few, my favorite is pulled pork with a side of buffalo and a side of bbq, tots and a soda. Pretty generic sounding but the price is great (for downtown) and it tastes great. Very tender meat and I love the sauces. You get one sauce, extra is .50(?) ea and worth it. I like multiple sauces. I brought my team from work over and everyone was very happy with their food. They're very quick to serve too.

I had walked by this place a few times, and finally decided to go for it yesterday. After all, I like sauce, I like chicken. Why not both at the same time? I ordered a pulled chicken sandwhich basket which came with a side and a beverage. I opted for the tator tots and choose the buffalo and blue cheese sauces(because I'm an innovator after all). The sandwhich was tastey, although the plain white bun started to break apart under the weight of the chicken. I covered it in the excellent buffalo sauce and enjoyed dipping it in the blue cheese. The tator tots were salty, and probably the definition of average. The whole meal was decent, but for the price of just under $9 my reaction was a definitive "meh". I might go back to try the chicken tenders or wings and some of the other sauces, or I might not because if I had to guess for the price I could find better fare in Minne-apple.

Who's feelin' saucy!!!?? Okay, I know that comment was super lame, but I just couldn't help myself! I love this place. I always get the chicken strip basket with tator tots and not one, but TWO helpings of the honey mustard sauce because it is THAT good. To all you sauce enthusiasts out there: never fear, there are PLENTY of other sauce options out there, and the meal basket comes with two sauces of your choice. Is it gourmet? Not quite. But neither is Arby's, which is your other fast lunch option in the building. I don't know about you, but I'd rather go for something that you can't get just anywhere!

Saucy isn't always a good thing, but in this case it is.Chicken is Saucy, So is the Beef, Staff-Just Saucy Enough.Tater Tots can be as Saucy as ya like, depending on dat there Sauce you choose.You can bring your Saucy Spouse & Super Saucy kids, & leave feelin really Saucy all day, cause here, saucy is all good.Me, if ya haven't noticed, I am as Saucy as one can get away with & not get Arrested. 3.5 OUT OF 5 Tiara's for being it's Saucy, Bad Ass Self

The Saucy Chicken recently opened up in the "food court" of the North Star West Building, located at 7th and Marquette. The location may be less than ideal, it is in the former Metro Cafe spot, which sat empty for several years. The menu is _extremely_ narrow. Basically, you have a sandwich (your choice of pulled pork, pulled chicken or pulled beef) on a white or wheat bun for $4.99. Sides are $1.39 and consisted of tater tots, onion rings, potato chips and one other offering that slips my mind. You can purchase a combo for $6.99 which gets you a sandwich, a side and a 20 oz fountain soda or tap water. Apparently, the "catch" is that you get to pick one of the seven to eight sauces that can be served on the side, so that you can spice up your sandwich. I picked Thai Peanut Sauce and my friend chose BBQ. We ate in, but it seems by the way that they package everything in styrofoam containers that they anticipate that this will be a largely takeout place. This was supported by the fact that they have a total of about six tables, each with only two chairs in the rather large "dining" area. For a place that was open for only its second day, I would have hoped that the person manning the register wouldn't have been so worn out, but she seemed unhappy. Business was slow, but word hasn't gotten around yet, and it appeared they were still working out their roles behind the counter. The meats appeared to be kept in the main area in pots to keep it warm, the servings were good, not overly generous, but good nonetheless. The tater tots came from the back kitchen and unfortunately were cold. A handful of people came in and looked at the menu and turned around. Again I blame a narrow selection, but to be fair, the Saucy Chicken also offer chicken wings and chicken strips, but those aren't items I have in mind for lunch. I hope that they are able to improve their marketing and find their market. They do not currently take credit cards and are open from 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

The food was pretty good (seasoned chicken wings) but too salty and too little celery. The sauce concepts were good and a nice change of pace from hot-hotter-hottest styles of a lot of wing joints. For the quantity of wings I felt the price was too high.

I have visted the Saucy Chicken for my second time now, although the food is great...the timing is not. It seems each time I have went I have waited ten minutes for my food. While not a huge concern, one would expect a wee faster exchange rate here as it is the food court area. Another flaw is the fact that the order is never what I have asked for but I have not been dipleased with the food, only minor set backs such as sauce choice. The staff is super nice and I don't mind visiting again!

OK - my coworkers and I are here average 3 times a week because it's really good, and there are enough choices that we can all find something we want. It is not expensive either - lunch for $5 is hard to find outside of fast food places. And I love that the menu includes simple pleasures like tater tots and pudding! Bonus: it's the owner and her same small staff everytime we come. They know our names, take the time to chat when possible, and always make us feel our business is appreciated. I have to say 2 thumbs up on everything - I'm hooked.

My buddy and I wanted to try a new restaurant in the Skyways for our bimonthly meal out to discuss life and have a ton of laughs. We are starting to run out of places to go to, but I think we still have a good year or two with our current selections open. I had a coupon for $10, so we traversed the catacombs of light that make up the Minneapolis Skyway system. Up and down escalators, twists and turns into the labyrinth of the city. We saw that there was a Turkey to Go opening up, mental note to try that place. I haven't tried Blimpie in awhile. There is a wide variety of pizza places I haven't been to in the hamster wheel of urban workatude. Anyway, Spicy Chicken is a place I went to two years ago with friends, but I had already had lunch, so I got a pop and watched them enjoy their splendid lunch. This time I sauntered in and got the pulled chicken sandwich, with buffalo sauce and coleslaw on the side. My buddy got the same thing with onion blossoms n the side instead. They were good, (He let me try one), but I'll take a few beers over tots or fried onion slices for the calories. (Gotta have priorities.) The service was pretty quick, I have to imagine this place is pretty expensive to lease, so hopefully they are doing well. Their meat is juicy and spicy and with the buffalo sauce, it was spectacular. I would have loved to have a knife available to cut the juicy manwich size chicken sandwich in half. Seriously. It was large. (So many jokes here) The coleslaw wasn't bad at all, and not too rich. I would have liked the fountain drink spot to be outside the counter, I mean, what is it, 35 cents for a refill on pop? If that? I felt pretty cheap asking if there were refills. I think the lady behind the counter owned the pace because I saw her there a long time ago and she was pretty nice. They prepare it in the back and it takes about 7 minutes to bring out to the table, from my experience as an "Everything" at McDonald's it takes about 3 minutes to fry something up. We were totally full after the meal and were hoping Turkey to Go didn't kill this place. I gave it 4 stars for what it was. A wonderful, fast sandwich place in the skyway. We had some laughs and started to plan our next outing. Good times.

These people take care of you. I love their friendly cashier and their daily special menu. You always have leftovers of whatever you've ordered. All around, nothing fancy, really great place to get chicken sandwiches, chicken strips, sloppy joes and roast beef sandwiches.
