I really liked that this place is right off the main highway with plenty of parking. The service is quick and attentive. The food portion was actually ENORMOUS! and overflowing in every direction. (Good or bad? I don't know.) We got four different dishes. (I think.) 1. The chicken dish was green with bell peppers and celery. 2. The other chicken dish was green with bell peppers, but with no celery. 3. The shrimp dish was green with bell peppers and celery. 4. And finally my "chow mien" dish was green with bell peppers and celery. Actually, I should add that they garnished my dish with little pieces of fried noodles. All in all, I was thoroughly unimpressed by the dishes. Or was it all just one dish? THEN! My friend ordered the donuts. Amazing... delicious... No... They are better than that. The donuts at Rose Garden are glorious. A thousand stars for the donuts.

Excellent Chinese food!! I was here once for the brunch and it was phenomenal for the price...not your typical brunch but fresh food brought to you constantly....some customers next to us called it the "want some" restaurant as they constantly come around and ask "want some" to their freshly prepared entrees. Tonight we just ordered off the menu and one entree and an order of egg rolls was more than enough for two people....also for a very fair price. And the wait staff was excellent! Maya was our outstanding server and you could tell she loved life!! :) How pleasant is that? I have tried quite a few Chinese restaurants in the Twin Cities and this is by far my favorite place! Ambiance is average but to be expected sometimes in Chinese restaurants.... but food and wait staff more than makes up for that! Don't tell to many people please as it is fairly small. :)

My favorite Chinese place by far. If all they served here was chicken fried rice, it would still be worth going to once a week! It's a small place and doesn't look like much, but don't be fooled. I've never eaten anything here I didn't like, and neither has anyone I've brought with me. The price-to-portion ratio can't be beat! Don't forget about the lunch buffet (every day except Sunday)... the place is too small for a formal buffet table set up so the staff just walks around to the tables. The food comes to you, and it's amazing, what more could you ask for? oh yeah, and the buffet is cheap. There are only two downsides 1) Cash or check only 2) cans of pop instead of bottomless-fountain style (but it's a hole-in-the-wall Chinese place so what where you expecting? This really isn't a downside, but worth mentioning)

The best American-style Chinese food in the North of Twin Cities. This is the place that my bf uses as a standard to compare with other Asian places. He has been eating the food here for more than 10 years, so he's a die-hard fan, and now im also a fan. It's an absolute family-owned-and-operated restaurant. The owner, his wife, and sometimes his brother manage the front .. serving, and taking dine-in and to-go orders. We've tried number of dishes, and everything tastes good. Their lunch buffet is well worth the visit. Their buffet style is different than other places that ive been to. They dont have buffet station, but they make each big bowl of food fresh, walk to each table and serve the food, so everything is always extra fresh and hot from the wok.

I didn't even make it in the front door before getting ticked off, the parking is terrible and then on top of that I almost got rear ended by some idiot. Upon entering the building I am greeted by a rather obnoxious handwritten sign "cash or check ONLY" - in this day and age who the heck carries either one around with them??? (especially when it's just a whim to stop here). I step inside the door to ask if that sign includes debit cards the girl behind the counter gives me a rotten look and says yes that's "ALL" cards, no credit, no debit no nothing except cash and check. As I turn to leave I say "well I guess you just lost two customers here" (me and my husband had planned on getting dinner here) and the response from the girl behind the counter in a really snotty rude voice "SORRRYYY". We will not be back.

Called in an order for fried chicken, they didn't start making it until I got there. Worst service I've ever had here, 35 minutes for chicken? Although I love this chicken so I always come back for it!

I have been a customer for 20 years and there is a reason this place is jam-packed at lunch every day...their food is awesome and some of the best Chinese you will find anywhere. Some of these reviewers come in expecting San Fran Chinatown-level awesomeness then downrate it because it isn't the very best, but in the Twin Cities where Chinese food all tends to taste the same, it is some of the best in my book. It takes some patience, their parking is always full at lunch and it can be a pain. You may have to wait for a seat. You may not be used to the fact that the food is not being warmed over a heat lamp in some trough and is actually brought to your table fresh. It's a different experience that only adds to its appeal, in my opinion. Their takeout is as good as their buffet lunch, their prices are cheap and their portions are ridiculous. All I am saying is there is a reason this place is packed every day. I don't think there is a restaurant in in the Cities I have personally brought more people to try. Go there and decide for yourself.

Cory has a sweet goatee and Cathy it's awesome that you give a full review of the parking lot. So the restaurant itself which is what you should be reviewing. Great food. Huge portions. Nice people. Both locations are two thumbs up.

One of the best Chinese food places in the Twin Cities. One star for ambience, 5 stars for the food. Loved the fried rice, noodles and fried chicken. Very cheap for the lunch buffet. I'd go back in a heart beat!

I'm fortunate enough to work near this place, and this past week was the first week in the 5 months I've had the job that I didn't go here for lunch at least once. The food is good, some of the dishes have too much celery, guess what you can eat around it. I don't care for celery, but I do eat some of it. Everything is good, even the shrimp, and I don't eat shellfish normally. But the chicken friend rice and the steak and onions are so good that I would eat just them. Service is also great. 2 things that kind of suck; parking is terrible and they only take cash or check.

My friend has been going to Rose Garden for years and highly recommended it. So on a whim my girlfriend and myself stopped by for lunch, we called one more person to meet us their. Parking is terrible even though we were there at 11:30am. Asked for a table for 3, and ordered 3 waters. Two of us started eating, they bring the food to the table and serve it on your plate. Very good and good portions, which they rotate food items and keep bringing them back. Food was fresh and hot and good. Place was packed and everyone was being fed, no one had to wait for food. I love the fact that food was brought to your plate, The last buffet I went too I saw a child sticking their fingers in the food (yuk). Our third friend did not show up, so it was just the two of us. When we went to pay our bill she said she charges for the third person, even though he did not show that it was not her fault he did not show and if you get 3 glasses of water you pay for 3 lunches....What? She said she would not charge me this time. Over all I loved the freshness of the food and the delivery method and the promptness, and of course the price. I would go back, and often.

Hands down the freshest and most flaverful asian buffet in the north metro. You can't beat the price either.

  • Leanne Z.

The food is very tasty, fresh, cheap and the portions are HUGE. We usually order house egg rolls and 1 entree -this feeds the two of us at least two full meals! The only down sides are they don't take credit cards and if they are busy the seating is a little tight. This isn't a problem if you get take out, like we usually do. The service has always been good and the tables are always clean.

Second time here, first time for the lunch buffet. The waitresses just kept coming, walking around with various dishes and asking if you'd like some. Its a buffet delivered. Every waitress, and there were probably 5, was the nicest most friendly of any I've ever had. You felt like family. The food was great, large variety, cheap price. We were told that the buffet choices changed day to day which means we'll be back many more times. I would have given 5 stars but I have to agree with another reviewer on "no credit cards". Cash or check. Lucky I had a 20 on me. Definitely try this place for lunch.

Awesome food, and brings value back to the buck! One order could easily feed 2-4 people. They have 2 kinds of egg rolls, one typical and the other more Vietnamese, both very good! Never had a bad meal or service here. VERY fast service and great food! Only con is, that I wish they had a bigger place! When it's busy, there is no parking in the lot and I wouldn't chance parking on the street there. I love this place!

This place was highly recommended by some friends. So I decided to check it out. The price was excellent ,the food.....not so much. It is served family style which is great. The food is always hot so you won't get sick and the staff is really friendly. The food does not taste very good. Many of the items taste the same like they were all cooked in the same pan and same sauce. I do not recommend this place at all.

The cheese wontons and sweet and sour chicken were very good. The house lo mein was not so good - basically a giant heap of Ramen noodles with some soy sauce, and a few bits of meat here and there. The restaurant itself was quite small and antiquated. They did have decent service. Would eat the food again, but will probably just do take out next time.

Come over lunch hour for the buffet. You will be served with fresh food within seconds of sitting down. Staff is friendly, food is good and pricing is extremely reasonable. Great spot to go for lunch, multiple dishes are avabile.

  • Amanda S.

Upon walking in the cooks were snapping green beans on a table in the dinning area, with lots of empty boxes strewn on the floor. Why I staied to order I'm not sure. Oh yea, I was starving and someone recommended the place. The food was decently priced which was nice, it would have been better if everything didn't taste like cinnamon. I'm guessing maybe a container was spilled into my order or something. I like cinnamon but not on my chicken. I will not return for a second visit.

For take out, the Rose Garden is hard to beat. The food is good, the prices are right, the portions are more than adequate. The House Egg Rolls and Szechuan Chicken we had this week were very tasty. Compared to other Chinese take out my wife brings home, this is excellent!

This is the best place I have found for Chinese food. The prices are good and the portions are huge. The lunch buffet is amazing! The staff is welcoming and polite. My only complaints are that the parking lot is usually full and parking can be an issue, and the bathrooms could use some updates. Also they don't take credit or debit cards, so if you are going here be prepaid to pay cash or check.

This place is beyond amazing. Seated with water a plate and a fork, within seconds I had food, which was some of the best I've had. The wontons are sweet, the pad Thai is flavorful and the fried rice is better than some I've had. Definitely a unique "buffet". And I'll be going back since it's so close to home.

This place doesn't look like much, but it definitely delivers. I have only been here for the lunch buffet (though this place is unique in my experience with chinese buffets, where the staff come around with the latest dish hot from the grill/wok) and was quite impressed with the quality and the price of the food. Somehow I have been visiting right around the corner for years and this is the first time we have come here which really suprises me. Remember to bring cash, they don't take credit cards!

I am puzzled by the reviews that say "best Chinese in the Twin Cities." These must be the people that say White Castle is the best burger place. It IS really cheap, but it is also very bland. Perhaps some people value these above other characteristics. It is wholesome food, but so is the Old Country Buffet (motto: "all the hospital food you can eat"). A good place to eat if stretching the food budget is paramount.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
