I've been here several times and it's always been good. My Vietnamese friends tell me they have really authentic pho here, and I personally like it. However if I'm going to get pho, I'd rather go to pho79. I've also had the lunch special / Americanized Chinese food here and it's by far the best in dinkytown.

3.5 stars overall. Ordered the RP5 pork chop rice platter with fried egg And the triple delight stir fry off the comb menu Also tried the appetizer sampler RP5 was great! Tender juicy and just like home made Triple delight was just ok but not bad at all. Owner was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Portion sizes are HUGE

Worst experience at Quang Minh restaurant inside Chateau I found a NAIL in their food, and they didn't even want to pay for their mistake, or apologize! The worst attitude ever and no responsibility whatsoever. So today I ordered a lunch special of pad thai w/fried rice to go, and took it home to eat upstairs in chateau. Then I felt something wrong about the fried rice, spit it out and guess what, it was a NAIL !! Can you imagine how gross it is to find somebody's nail in your mouth..with the food? Ew, I felt like vomiting. The worst thing happened to me before was a gravel. Then I went to confront them, but it's their attitude which really pissed me off! Well, usually at least the meal should be on the house, and some good restaurants would also bring you free dessert or drinks to show their apology, right? But the owner, at first he doubted it for a long time. He asked me to show him my fingers (wtf?!) and then claimed the NAIL wasn't his or his wife's.. (well it doesn't matter whose nail it belonged to! It's in YOUR food, cooked in YOUR restaurant, for god's sake!) Then he laughed (what?!) and never apologized to me at all. He said I ordered to go and wasn't eating here, so he didn't believe me. I told him frankly that i didn't wanna make a scene here and that he knew how often i came here to eat, and i would never lie about this, all i need is justice and some respect... Then he told me to bring the rest of my food here and he'll pay me. But when I came back, he said he could give me $2. (R u kidding me? the whole meal was $5.90! unacceptable! at least the whole meal should be free!) he said because the other half food pad thai was good and not much left (what? the whole dish was ruined! and u don't feel sorry?!) Then he kept saying how it's not their fault, that the nail was in the uncooked rice and they just cooked it and unable to find out..(what? unbelievable excuse! that's not how people cook, ok? u get rid of bugs (or nails!) or whatsoever before u cook, that's why u wash the rice! Or u don't even wash the rice first?) Then his wife came talking to him and he eventually agreed to give me back my money, $5.90, but kept saying how tax should be excluded, and he can't give me cash cause I was using credit card.. (what the hell? it's not like it ever got unapproved, and it's debit card!) Then his wife told him to pay me cash, and at last he gave me $5.89, and yelled at me, on the condition that he would never take my order again. (haha, what?) I was laughing at him inside, "do u seriously think I would still eat here after this? not just about the gross, dirty nail found in ur food, but about ur terrible service attitude!" For god's sake, it's less than 6 dollars! he should feel lucky that I don't ask for any overcompensation. And it's not about how much money, it's about the responsibility he should take for their mistake! And from beginning to the end, he never apologized.

I've been coming here as a freshman in college and I've introduced (at least) 8 people to this place. I've come for dates, a quick lunch (which is an awesome deal), and friendly get-togethers. Everyone I've brought here has loved it! The food is wonderful and has never disappointed me and the husband and wife that run it are super friendly, just lovely people. This is probably my absolute favorite place to eat in Minneapolis. Great prices, great food (and portions!), and great service! :D

As other people have said... THE PORTIONS ARE MASSIVE!!!! The amount of food you receive from a normal order is insane. Definitely a place to split with someone else, and even so, you will probably still be walking home with left overs in hand.

Been to this place twice and had the kuey teow goreng both times. This dish has a strong wok flavor to it, same thing with the egg kuey teow. Which is very authentic. My brothered the udang mee and was meh.... so was the pho that someone else ordered. Prices has increased since the last time I went there, but overall still pretty good value. Compared to peninsula I would say this one wins Store is owned by a couple. Vietnamese husband, Malaysian wife. But the wife does all the cooking the husband just helps.

When the K-Wok Restaurant closed, I was very sad. My favorite restaurant in the Twin Cites was gone. I just heard from a friend that the K-Wok had re-opened as Quang Minh, and I was thrilled. Their Megoreng is the best I've ever had. I could live on that dish, but there is a coconut curry soup that is also on their Malasian menu that is equally unbelievable. Everything I have tried from the owners of Quang Minh has been suberb. I'll be a regular there now.

One and the only one spot if I want to get Malaysian foods around the area. The best dish is the Kuey Tiao Goreng ! I was told that they made the flat noodles fresh from scratch, and it is somewhat real, because the flat noodles is not something you could taste at a different Chinese restaurant. It is a little bit thicker and tender than a regular chow fun,and stir fried with bean sprout, eggs, and seafood. It's so delicious that the kuey tiao is full with the wok aromatic, and it is exactly what a Char Kuey Tiao should be. Huge portion at very good price. Highly recommended

Trust me, this is THE place to have authentic Vietnamese dishes! The pho and noodle soup are incredible. I will move to the nearby neighborhood soon, just because I can go to Quang Minh more often!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch after discovering that On's Thai on University is recently changed their hours and are now closed on Sundays. In a desperate search for Thai we tried to go to Bankok Thai which Quang Minh appears to have replaced. I've always been skeptical of pan-asian restaurants - jack of all trades, master of none. As far as I'm concerned the main dish was the biggest downfall although the decor did nothing to help their case. I left incredibly unsatisfied but not entirely surprised based on a past reviews. We ordered and split M7 on the Malaysian/Thai menu, a basic stir-fry in coconut milk. There was nothing particularly awful about the dish, but it was incredibly bland and came out approximately three minutes after we ordered which is a little concerning. During the hour plus we sat in what was blatantly a refurbished pizza joint with token asian trinkets, the chef watched a youtube video on how to cook chinese doughnuts. Their menu was also very obviously marked up - as in what used to be $8.95 was crossed out with a pen and $11.95 was written over it. In terms of redeeming qualities, the rice was sticky and cooked to perfection. Our server took some time to run through the menu with us and was very willing to let us customize our order.

The closes restaurant from DES MOINES that serves Malaysian cuisine!!!! So my friend brought me here since we are kinda craving for Malaysian food... According to my friend.. their food is cheaper than the famous Peninsula Malaysian Cuisine.. We ordered the egg noodles (wat dan hor), beef rendang, and curry laksa during my first visit.. everything tasted pretty normal for me... The beef rendang tasted pretty bad.. I think it's just beef with some wierd spicy sauce... it's not really rendang.. I expected rendang sauce to be sticky, thick.. unlike the sauce they have which is kinda watery... The wat dan hor was not bad but not fantastic... My favorite will be the curry laksa... although is not as good as what I had in Malaysia.. but the curry laksa has the spiciness in it... :) We ordered spring roll on twice of my visits... The spring roll is probably the highlight of everything.. It's tasted really good especially with the sauce that comes together with it... This is how spring roll supposed to be... Unlike other Asian Fusion restaurant... During my second visit.. we ordered the egg noodles and the curry chicken.. the egg noodles tasted better than my first visit... it has more flavor in it... I really like it this time compare to the first time I had.. However.. the curry chicken was pretty bad.. It was not well chopped and the meat was not cooked... The curry was really watery and I simply just can't feel the spiciness in it... I think the quality of the food "fluctuate"... A good restaurant is supposed to remain their standard all the time.. I hope the egg noodles will tasted how it's supposed to be just like my second visit... and not less flavorful or more flavorful..

So if you know and liked the old K-wok...you would like Quang Minh; the couple started this new place right below the Chateau apartments in dinkytown.. If you don't know K-wok, no biggie :D More reason to try a new place... they offer a large variety of cuisine, ranging from Vietnamese, Chinese, Malaysian and Thai... Their lunch rice plates are a must-try, very cheap and includes a soup, an appetizer (choose from Egg Roll, Spring Roll, Cream cheese Wonton and Satay chicken) and obviously the entrée :) They are very good at making Malaysian style curry, however, it is not explicitly mentioned on the menu.....Just let the owners know (Vietnamese husband and Malaysian wife) that you would want Malaysian style curry instead of the regular one Very reasonably priced and great service :D

The dinner here might just be 3 stars, but I have to give them 4 stars for their lunch special. So much delicious food at such a good price! Be sure they're open before you come here. I think they're closed on Mondays, but they don't always follow their posted hours exactly. I love the way they cook eggplant and I also love their Malaysian chicken curry dish (I forgot what it was called). Yum!

I moved to this neighborhood almost a year ago and hadn't tried this place yet because of the poor reviews on here, and I am so glad I finally stopped in! My family and I were craving pho. My mom tried the Hu Tieu, which is my new favorite. The #13 Hu Tieu has chicken broth, noodles, meat, and dumplings and is delicious. It comes with fresh cilantro, jalapenos and bean sprouts, and I like it with basil too. I'm glad they have bubble tea. I would highly recommend the mango smoothes. I've had them twice. The first one tasted like freshly picked and mashed mangos - so thick and fresh! The second was thinner but still quite good.

This place is so awful that i'd not even bother to write much about it. The food didn't taste fresh and the service was slow. Almost everything seemed to suggest that they would cut corners as much as they can. Price was good but whats the point of going to a restaurant if the food is bad? To make it worse even the dining room was smokey...ewwww.

Below average prices for above average quality. Highly recommended. Came here for the vegetarian pho, and was amazed. The veggies were fresh, plentiful and varied, the tofu was fried and completely adequate, and the broth was amazing. So so good. There was some kind of fragrant spice steeped in it (Chinese Five Spice? Allspice? Mysterious Magic Spice of Deliciousness? It had notes of Yunnan tea and clove, but was not astringent or overpowering.) I've had a lot of pho, and I've never wanted to drink the broth without hoisin and sriracha, let alone ask for 15 more gallons of it so i could drink it for the rest of the week. Also the server asked if beef broth was ok. Thank you for asking! It is not ok, and I'm so glad you checked and let me substitute vegetable broth instead of just letting me live in a state of innocence, and then wonder later why I was sick. Most places I've been to don't check, and you just have to hope (or ask.) My companion got the General Tso's tofu, and the veggies and sauce were similarly varied and delicious.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
