For a sandwich chain Potbelly has a pretty good selection of made from scratch menu items. Their oatmeal cookie is truly one if my top dessert chives. They bake the cookies fresh so they come out warm and gooey...just the way they are supposed to. I like to order the wreck flat toasted twice with all go the toppings. Not really a fan of their sandwich bread though..pretty generic and same texture as subway. The Potbelly at the U has a cool personality and is tailored to the students. There's always some type of acoustic performance happening in the shop as well.

Potbelly has some delightful little sandwiches accompanied by a limited selection of baked goods that satisfy sweet teeth and actually seem to be made in-house. The franchise in general and this location in particular each get a bonus for having calendars peppered with live musicians. There are few things I love more than listening to some relaxing Damien Rice interpretations while devouring a deliciously hand-crafted oven-toasted sandwich.

When I forget/get too lazy to make my lunch I usually come to Potbelly for their Mushroom Flat and an Oreo Shake. The flats provide the perfect break to meat ratio and are very filling! Their house peppers are very unique and provide just the right amount of heat and flavor to all their sandwiches. Their shakes are delicious! My favorite is Oreo but Oreo and Strawberry combination is a close second. They make them with real ice cream so they are very creamy. My favorite part of the shake is that they add on a few tiny cookies on the lid to enjoy with your shake. My meals are always accurately made and fresh. The people that work there are super nice which makes all of my visits very enjoyable.

The sandwiches are pretty sorry. They server them warm. This made them a soggy mess. But, the shakes aren't bad.

"Meh. I've experienced better." pretty much sums up my thoughts on Potbelly. Mainly because better sandwiches exist in the realm of Dinkytown/Stadium Village. Potbelly is okay. It's cheap, for one. Also their sandwiches are served warm, which is nice in colder months for sure. In the years I've known Potbelly, though, I swear the quality of ingredients has gotten worse. Their sandwich selections are boring. They got rid of a lot of good milkshake flavors (the orange dreamsicle milkshakes they used to have were amazeballs). Also, the line takes forever if there are 4+ people in it. I get that the sandwiches are heated, etc., but if I'm just stopping in for a quick sub on my way home from class, it can get irritating. I'm not expecting Jimmy John's speeds, but still. I will say that their employees are always super friendly and conversational, while at Jimmy John's they often give off the "I'm better than you because I ride a fixie" vibe. I've heard that their chili is good and pretty healthy for you. My favorite part about Potbelly is their Zapp's chips, though. Sour cream and creole onion? Yes, please.

I stopped in with my brother to get a sandwich last weekend and ordered the grilled chicken and chedder with everything 'cept peppers. Yeah, ok, it's a sandwich and it's alright, but there was nothing special about it. The place was crowded and there weren't enough seats so we had to take the last table available, right next to the aspiring guitarist who should rely less on vocals and more on cool riffs to launch himself into stardom. We could hardly hear each other because he was drowning out the entire place with his sub-par performance. This place is probably a great spot for students who don't have a lot of cash to spend, don't have access to a kitchen to cook something, and don't care about getting a really good meal for the money that they pay, as long as they're not hungry anymore. Personally, I'll pass...

This review is not specific to the location since Potbelly's is a chain. There is no specific difference with this location either as far as I can tell. The sandwiches are yummy, my favorites are meatball, tuna, or chicken salad. The staff is cheerful and the prices are low. Caveat: The smoothies have a lot of sugar.

Really, I do love me some Potbelly. I hate that it's not in a convenient place now that I live by the U. It's probably a good thing, though. I reckon a wreck probably sets a person back far more calories than they'd hope! Anyway, get yaself a tasty wreck with extra pickles. I mean SRSLY. The pickles are freaking perfection. They take the big pickles and slice them in the meat slicer, I think. They're all sorts of perfectly slender little morsels of tangy dill happytime. Yum! All in all, the location sort of stinks unless you're on foot or bicycle. The food is good and fast, and the employees are a hoot. Funny bunch. I need to hit it up soon. I'm craving perfectly toasted bread!

In general, I'm a fan of Potbelly, their menu and the price. I like the sandwiches and salads, and the service is usually pretty good. But, I am absolutely done with ordering delivery form the Dinkytown Potbelly. My co-workers and I have had delivery from here, and we've used it for catering of small events. Without exception, the delivery has taken at least 45 minutes and the driver has often gotten lost. I can usually cut some slack, but our office is just down University Avenue at the other end of campus! With today's technology (GPS, cell phones) there is really no excuse for that pathetic level of service. So, I'll keep eating Potbelly. I'll just go in to the store myself.

Honestly, I'll never get sick of Potbelly. I like the uproar they "created" when they moved in here and "kicked out" the Purple Onion. Come on, guys. The Purple Onion got a brand new building. ANYWAY, Potbelly is great! I actually discovered it while living in Chicago... in fact, I went to the original one all the time. So I was very pleased when it came near the U of M during my college years. You can never go wrong with the Wreck though the meatball sub is pretty good too! You can always get a smaller size sandwich for those watching their carbs too (ha!) The service is always friendly and it seems they will do their best to accommodate you. For instance, they didn't deliver to the area I was in but when I went to pick up the food instead, they gave us two free cookies... their way of saying "sorry." I like when businesses do little stuff like that--it makes the customers come back.

This place did the job, but I imagine if I lived here, I'd find a better sandwich shop. I got the veggie soup in a bread bowl and while it tasted decent, it was pretty small for what I paid. Nice location, though, and definitely clean.

Ok, for a chain place. I like that I can get pbj with banana and that the shakes have a little cookie on the straw. The atmosphere is very faux collegiate. The service is very efficient in a way that depresses me. I hate it when people who work at a fast food counter seem to be really enjoying themselves. It scares me a little. It's pretty cheap too. You can do better, but you could also do worse.

Wow, I'm surprised Potbelly has such a low rating. I too did not expect much when this place opened and I went in for the first time, but to my delight, the $5 meal was not only high quality but tasted amazing. I'm not sure what complaints people have with this place, as it is in a wonderful location, and it's like a high quality subway, but for the same price. The only downside is that the portions can be kind of small, but they do use high quality bread, and that helps fill you up.
