Seriously. There are plenty of reasons why this place has great reviews and I am sure they will just keep coming. I am new to the area and coming from the Bay Area where a good Coffee Shop is a serious endeavor on most Bay Area peoples. So far I have been to peace coffee like 4 times since I have been here these last couple weeks because its the best I have found. I am not a coffee drinker but an obsessive tea drinker instead & avid fan of the coffee shop. They have an amazing tea selection... their cup of earl grey is floral and just rich with mmmm. They have a ton of seating, tons of outlets, beautiful & light decor that I am sure will brighten my day come winter and the staff is super hip & FRIENDLY (NOT an attribute akin to many MPLS coffee shops I have found...) go there. and give them lots of money.

Pretty cool place, even for more traditional types like me. Baristas were very helpful and cute, though totally crunchy :) Loved the creamy cold press drink, can't remember the exact name. Bottom line, legit coffee shop.

Peace Coffee's first cafe location doesn't disappoint. The coffee is, of course, fantastic; the ambiance is open, fun, and inviting; the non-drink menu is stacked with other favorites from around the city--think The Wedge Co-op and Common Roots Cafe; the staff is friendly, not in-your-face. Bottom line: This place is definitely worth checking out.

i sauntered over to peace coffee a couple weeks ago for a saturday morning meeting. they have a big room that's free to reserve (which is so nice!), but watch out, because the place gets BUSY on saturday mornings and other patrons completely ignore the sign on the door that says the room is being used. that was annoying...but not peace coffee's fault at all. i ordered a seasonal spiced banana latte that was delicious! it wasn't too sweet at all and was unique enough for me to be intrigued (SO sick of pumpkin spice and egg nog lattes everywhere i go!). i also got the oatmeal which was sort of "build-your-own" and it was great. a few of my friends ordered the cream scone...which was ironic because it wasn't creamy at all. in fact, some devonshire cream all up in that thing would have been precisely what it needed. the atmosphere was great- buzzing and alive in its vintage-y sort of way, the service was awesome and fast as they could be, and the coffee/food were great too. i'll definitely go back there to try more deliciousness!

This is a coffee shop that's all about the coffee. It belongs in that very short top-tier list that includes Kopplin's and Angry Catfish. I've always enjoyed Peace Coffee beans, purchased by the bag or served around town. But let's be clear: that is *not* what I'm reviewing here. When Peace Coffee brews their own beans, it magically kicks everything up to a new level. The pour-over turns a simple cup of coffee into an aromatic indulgence. It's espresso drinks, though, that have me utterly hooked. They are magnificent. The espresso itself is not just your standard burnt bullet of caffeine; it's a nuanced, balanced mix of flavors that stands very well on its own. Because the espresso itself is so good, the drink don't have to work to dilute it or mask it, but instead can let its wonderful flavor come to the fore. My favorite is the macchiato, but if you're not ready for something that intense, try their magnificent cappuccino. They have minimal but tasty food offerings: a selection of pastries from the Wedge & Common Roots, and two soups. If you're looking for a real lunch, or your focus is on the pastry, your best bet in the neighborhood is Fireroast Mountain Cafe. But for a cup of coffee and a nice place to sit -- I'm sitting there right now! -- Peace Coffee Shop is tops.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!! I am a coffee junkie.....I live to find new coffee shops and I can't believe I didn't know this existed until this summer. What a shame! If you like GOOD coffee, like not Starbucks good, but reeeeally good coffee and espresso, then go here. Really chilled out vibe. Bring your laptop or a book--the space is really ideal for getting work done. Friendly baristas and great service. The bagels and the homemade chive cream cheese are yummy with your coffee, guaranteed! Location is kind of inconvenient but worth the drive!

Best Latte ever!! It's all about the milk people! Creamy wonderful heaven! The people that work there are awesome too. Very friendly and not stuck up like some 3rd wave coffee shops can be. When I was temporarily laid off for the State shutdown, I drove to Peace Coffee every day from the Blaine area, because the coffee is THAT good! .....I wish they were downtown Mpls - where I work, Maybe they could get a mobile unit down here? ;D

Great Coffee, I was there for a MetroIBA meeting this morning and everything was great. Nice and clean, very friendly staff. The whole place is based on a very cool idea of Living wage jobs and sustainable living and working. I will go there for coffee again.

Great little place! Bummer it is so far from where I live... My first time in this place was during this summer's heat wave. When it felt like 120 outside. So their AC was a welcome respite, and well worth the heated bike ride over. The atmosphere was great (love the simple but stylish decor) and the baristas were friendly. The music was just right: not too loud, not too rock-out-ish, and varied. The coffee was good but a little pricey (I got a delicious iced vanilla latte with soy milk, which was about $6, so that may be average...?). My favorite part, though, was the seating in the back: the pretty, comfy pillows allowed me to stretch out in the booth and read a good book. Looking forward to my next visit!

How lucky am I? This sweet coffee shop is just a few steps out my front door, offering its fresh brewed greatness to me every morning. They have only been open a few days and I have already been there three times! Three! It's great. This morning I had a latte and a whole wheat croissant. So delicious and satisfying to have a latte that just tastes like a latte, not a gingerbread man or a syrupy mess. They know what they are doing around these parts.

I'm a huge fan of Peace Coffee and if I had my way I'd find a way to somehow live across the street, if not inside, the coffeeshop. A major perk is unlimited refills on house coffee. When I moved here I was shocked that coffeeshops could get away with charging for refills and firmly maintained that if any shop were to offer free refills it would put all the other place out of business. While I hope that Peace Coffee won't result in the failure of businesses across Minneapolis, I am happy that they have shown the light with respect to refills.

One of the best coffee house spots in the Cities. Peace Coffee roasts superb beans, and they make a great cup here. They have pour over, French press, and espresso drinks. Along with that, they have pastries and a few types of soup each day. The space is bright and has a fair amount of power outlets. It's a nice place to spend an afternoon. The one thing I would add is that when the barista didn't like the song that the Current was playing, he threw on acoustic David Bowie songs in French. That was a bit ridiculous, but I recovered by taking out my own iPod.

Music and coffee with texture...plus it's fair trade. Free refills too!

Get the pour over coffee for the freshest cup! And check out their coffee education classes in their on-site lab so you can brew yourself a perfect cup at home...using Peace Coffee beans of course ;)

Awesome! Tasty pecan date scone and very relaxing space. I read the reviews here and went to check it out. Well worth the drive. We're staying here for the holiday weekend. This was a great find after a walk around Nokomis lake. I'll be sure to visit again. Warm, inviting staff.

If you are a lover of real coffee this is the place for u and if u have a lap top with a low battery it's even better. None of the Foofy frapacino, mochalate, over sugared, under coffeed drinks here. Few choices here but all that is needed for the true coffee fan. And if you need to have a plug in for your lap top this is the place. All the seats on the wall have a plug available. Lots of natural light flooding through the windows. Kind of like a vacation office. You can get work done without really feeling like you are working. Will definately return.

I stopped by here fairly recently for a quick cup. I sort of wish I'd stayed to savor the moment a little more though. Its a pretty spacious location with lots of seating and games and things to tickle your childhood fancy. The barista staff were super nice, too. But really I was more thrilled that my coffee was so tasty and not at all like the garbage I've been getting closer to home from those coffee company behemoths. No bitter burnt taste here. Next time perhaps I'll ride my bike down. Its pretty unlikely since its kind of a hike by bike for me and I'm incredibly lazy... but I'd fit in a little better with the eco-friendly co-op clientele. Where's that button for "hipster ambiance" now?

Cute place, but so overpriced. Why is Peace Coffee at the Peace Coffee Shop more than it is at other coffee shops?

  • A R.

This place is everything a stereotypical coffee shop is not...in a great way! A friendly down to earth staff serve coffee the old fashioned way, taking their time and with a smile. The music is soothing and easy to have a conversation over or actually get some work done. The environment is out of the box thinking using mismatched everything which somehow works together. Everything is re-used/repurposed/compostable/recycleable. They can easy boast a near 0 waste coffee shop. Oh and have I mentioned the coffee? The BEST I have ever had. Seriously. I am addicted to the pollinator blend! And free refills makes this place coffee heaven.

  • Joel L.

I'm going to be the party-pooper who doesn't give this place 5 stars. I drink straight espresso and found the espresso here to be mediocre. I also think the prices are pretty high. The atmosphere is very modern, but to me it feels sterile rather than inviting. The baristas are very friendly, however, which is great.

  • L C.

Sure, there are plenty of places that sell Peace Coffee. But the way it is made at the Peace Coffee shop surpasses them all! I think it must be magic, but even the brewed coffee tastes better than anywhere else. It is worth going to for that fact alone, but it also has good music, great staff, and lots of space. Check it out!

Great. Been to many of the coffee shops in minneapolis. This is my favorite. Great coffee. Great soup. Great atmosphere. Not the cheapest but definitely worth it.

I had such a lovely experience here! I love the cozy atmosphere, the staff were so friendly, and the coffee was delicious! I am more biased to cozy and colorful coffee shops so this place really caught my eye. They have plenty of seating and lots of outlets. Right when I entered the barista greeted me and asked if I had any questions. My only complaint would be that they do not post the prices of their items. Maybe I am just supposed to focus on the coffee and not worry about the price but I like to compare and sometimes it affects what I decide to get. I ordered a cold press and it was very good and very caffeinated to keep me going. I sat and read my book and throughout my whole experience the two workers were very friendly to customers. I was leaving right around closing time so they started chatting with me so I left on a very happy (and caffeinated) note, which definitely made me want to go back!

The. Best. Coffee. In. Town. Period. Go here. Get a latte. Kvetch with the staff. Get a pound of beans on your way out. I love their coffee so much that I got my mom a subscription for Christmas so she could experience it in Texas. Her exact words: The best cup of coffee I've ever had. Seriously. Go here. Say hi to Jackson.

I frequented this coffee shop for weeks, oftentimes twice or more. I'd order a cappuccino to fuel my writing and blogging. I am giving two stars based on to satisfactory service these visits. My last visit is where Peace Coffee lost two stars and me as a customer. My friend (visiting from out of town) and I were walking around my neighborhood, Longfellow, and decided to take a rest at Peace Coffee. Neither of us were thirsty for anything on the menu, we just wanted to sit and chat for awhile. The shop was rather dead with just a couple other people in. We connected to the FREE Wi-Fi, her on her phone and me on my notebook I had in my backpack while catching up. After about 20 minutes we decided to head back out on our walk. While exiting I was appalled by comment made by the bearded barista, "If you want free Wi-Fi go to the library!" Now understand this was not made in a joking tone, rather an aggressive one. I was very close to turning around and giving him a piece of my mind, but instead kept my cool for the sake of not causing a fuss in front of my friend and other patrons. I called his manager later. (Mind you out of the dozens of times I've been in the shop, I've purchased one or two drinks--this was the only occasion I did not.) When I called management they were very apologetic. They offered a free drink, but to be honest why would I return when there are a handful of respectful, kind baristas in the neighborhood at other shops (Dogwood Coffee, Blue Moon, Dunn Bros.). I was outwardly disrespected, shouted at and belittled in the presence of not two customers in your business, but also my friend. Peace Coffee, peace out.

Coffee was not bad. Seating arrangements are fantastic. Lots of room and cool decor. But the reason i gave 3 stars is because of the staff. Sorry guys. I didnt feel welcome the whole 3 hrs i was there. Not even a smile and minimal hospitality.

I wish I loved this place more - ethical standards I can get behind, quality products, aesthetically beautiful and welcoming - but often when I come here they treat me like some Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte guzzling, Uggs-and-sweatpants-wearing type (which I am not). And let me just say, if you are into those things, NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT! LET'S STOP BEING SO JUDGMENTAL ALL OF THE TIME. But yes, condescending barista, I do know what a traditional cappucino is. Thank you. You asked me that the last four times I came here too but - glad to know I'm completely unmemorable despite living across the street and coming here fairly regularly. Oh yes, please take 5-15 minutes to talk about the roast quality with that other dude who just walked in...he is clearly NOT like me and deserves your respectful smile and suddenly cheery demeanor. Seriously though, I like the coffee. I like that they have Kombucha in the cooler when I don't feel like trekking any further on the weekend but need a fix. I wish they had more vegan food options (come on, you can get gluten free baked goods and Bewiched deli sandwiches yet you don't really cater to vegans beyond Kind Bars? Maybe soup occasionally?) but I do appreciate that soymilk is out with the standard creamer - plus simple syrup. This is my go-to spot when I don't feel like making my own cold press in the summertime. They just need to lower the snob-factor a few notches and I'd bump the stars way up.

  • Elizabeth R.

Nice, open space. Busy but not overwhelmingly busy. Friendly staff. A small selection of pastry options may be the only downside, but honestly who needs to sit and stare at a large selection and try to make a decision pre-coffee? Not me, because I am a horrible excuse of a human prior to that first cup of coffee. And the black coffee here is quite tasty, which is very important to me. Definitely a place I'll be returning to.

Great atmosphere and location. Wifi was a strong connection and the coffee definitely had quality to it. It's a bit expensive, but well worth every penny.

Cute shop. Cool location. Classic hipster hideout. Overpriced coffee drinks. Nearly $5 for a cold press? No thank you. If I want to pay out the nose for coffee, I'll go to Starbucks.

I stumbled across this place because it's near my work, and I can't say enough about how great it is. It has everything I love about a coffee shop, and I've been here almost every day since. First of all, the space is great. Colorful without being overwhelming, lots of wood, brick, good vibes. There's a giant disco ball hanging in the back, and the walls are lined with wide, built-in benches. Along the back wall, the benches are peppered with lots and lots of small but cushy pillows. Nestle in, sit cross-legged comfortably, lean back, and it's like you're in your living room, except so much better. Great natural light, chill music. Also, the coffee is great. Yes, it costs more than Starbucks - get over it. It's obviously has to do with having higher-quality product. If you want the cheapest option, it would be reasonable to suggest you could go to McDonalds, or a gas station. Plus, they've created a magical space for you to sit in. I'd pay them just to sit here and read. They also have outside seating and food, so that's cool.

  • Daniel K.

I love this place. The people there are nice and always seem like they're having a good time. I dig their cold press and always get their soft pretzel with mustard which are both amazing. Theres alot of drinks there and their specialty ones are always interesting and good too. I also just bought a Toddy from there cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. Sometimes it gets busy, but I've never had any problem finding seating indoors. Theres also outdoor seating. My only complaint is that they used to have this amazing spicy mustard but for some reason they switched to a different one. Oh well, you cant win em all

  • Scott H.

Visited with a friend. It was a decent experience but nothing I'd really feel a burning need to repeat. I ordered a mocha and the quality was pretty standard. My friend's drink wasn't particularly to her liking and she wasn't terribly impressed.

    (3)
  • Grace H.

Had a really pleasant experience when I visited. There's plenty of room to sit and it's not too loud so you can actually have a decent conversation with friends or your significant other. Also tried some of their dessert offerings which were pretty yummy. I like how coffee shops usually offer City Pages or something to read. I like checking out what's going on around the local music or theater scene since MN is pretty well known for having a high concentration of pretty high quality acts. I'm really excited they are opening a branch in a local co-op by the new house my boyfriend and I bought. Looking forward to trying more of their coffee offerings.

Requisite indie coffee shop. (Every city should have a handful of good, requisite indie coffee shops.) Relatively busy, but not to worry! There are tons of outlets. Total bonus: they carry MKE's very own Rishi, which is fantastic, fantastic tea.

    (4)
  • Zenzele I.

Aside from the pretentious environment (no prices on the menu) and the self-possessed customers and staff, and uncomfortable seating, this place is pretty good. Just ordered a damned good cappuccino that can compete internationally. Very rich, creamy, with the perfect amount of smokiness from the roasted expresso. Go for the coffee, and of course, if you want to appear smart and hip while sipping your brew.

    (4)
  • John C.

Wonderful Chai but ridiculously overpriced! 12oz for $4.50! That would get me a 16oz most other places. They claim their coffee is more expensive because it is sourced more responsibly but that shouldn't apply to their tea, or Chai. Too bad because it is in a prime location.

    (3)
  • Jon D.

I've been here 3 times I think. The coffee is good, the food is probably better than average though I avoid so many ingredients I can't really be fair here, the space is the best part--really nice. And they're next to a cool alternative movie theater, the Trylon. However, the service is surprisingly bad. 2 out of the 3 times I felt amazed that somebody hired these people as baristas. They were rude and unfriendly. Why hire rude and unfriendly people as the ones who are responsible for providing the customer with the "face" of the business? If it weren't conveniently close to the Trylon, I would not go there, no matter how good they look.

    (2)
  • Tara O.

I love Peace Coffee. It's the prefect place to stop on my drive into work, and I prefer to buy my beans in the shop as opposed to the grocery store because they have a much wider selection available. I'm a big fan of their iced coffee and Americano, but their latte is pretty great, too!

    (4)
  • Cecilia J.

Probably the easiest five stars I've ever given. The setting, the service, and especially the drinks keep me coming back. Yes, Peace Coffee is expensive. Pay around three dollars for a bottomless cup of black coffee, though, and it's almost as much of a treat as a specialty drink would be elsewhere; a couple of roast options are up for grabs, the mugs are by the coffee, and the drip-brew is self-serve. You can stretch the $3 for quite a while. The food is pretty great, but I try to eat elsewhere to save what little I can. The coffee is worth the investment, and even the espresso drinks are so much better than at most places that I can't help splurging sometimes. Excellent cappuccinos/lattes. Try the Roman Holiday (iced lemon/espresso drink) for a weird but amazing flavor. Good for coffee dates, homework sessions, or morning pick-ups, Peace Coffee is one-of-a-kind.

Love it! I went here as I was feeling cooped up in my home office and needed some social stimuli. You work at home peeps feel me. Sometimes you just need to go somewhere to work! I walked in and felt right at home. I ordered a Cold press which was amazing and I watched the talented and friendly Barista make several delicious looking mocha's, lattes, and some special drinks of the day. Super friendly staff that answered all my questions courteously. Its got a real hipster vibe to it which I love, the food selections look great, and I can most definitely see myself hunkering down in a corner again to get some work done. Peace!

  • Henok T.

Went here without realizing that I had actually purchased their beans from Kowalski's market before. It's a pretty good coffeeshop with all the latest innovations for how you want your coffee available. It's just a bit out of the way for me - being in a residential neighborhood. This is also a place for folks who want to actually spend time at a coffee shop and study/work.

  • Kristi E.

Wonderful coffee, knowledgeable baristas, and ginger cookies. Gotta love them all. I think this place is a wonderful place to gather over lattes (they make their own vanilla syrup!), however the atmosphere isn't quite for me. Overall a great coffee shop.

  • Melissa S.

Stopped in to Peace Coffee Shop on a rainy Saturday morning as it's close to my house and I was out of Keurig cups. The vanilla latte was soooo good that I ordered a second one to go! I usually like my coffee drinks really sweet, and this wasn't, but somehow it was still just perfect. And I love, love, love any place that makes foam designs in the coffee drinks. I felt the lighting was a little harsh (given that it WAS morning and I hadn't bothered to put on makeup yet), and the table we sat at was really wobbly and uneven, causing me to spill the glorious latte a couple of times, so this will be more of a grab-and-go shop for me, versus a place to linger at. I'm so pleased to have this little gem in my neighborhood though, where Starbucks and Caribous are mysteriously absent.

I paid my first visit to Peace Coffee today, and experienced coffee perfection. My favorite coffee beverage is a vanilla latte. I've had a lot of vanilla lattes at a lot of coffee shops--I've checked in to over 30 different coffee shops on Foursquare. While I have a slight preference for Caribou over Starbucks, I can't say as I've ever noted much of a difference between a vanilla latte from one place or another; they're kind of all the same. I just know that I generally like them sweet as candy. The vanilla latte I got today at Peace Coffee was love at first sip. It was incredible. Interestingly, it wasn't particularly sweet. I could actually really taste the espresso, and for the first time in my life, I was totally cool with that. It didn't need all that sugar; the espresso just sang with delicious complexity. The flavors were amazing. To top it off, there was heart-shaped latte art in the foam. It was the perfect topper to an exquisite cup of latte love. The ambiance of the place isn't really to my tastes--the cold concrete floor and all the plain wood and mismatched hard chairs aren't very inviting. The table at which I sat was wobbly--one of the legs was about an inch off the floor. Aside from the latte that was "savor every sip" spectacular, there wasn't much about the space that made me want to linger. I asked one of the baristas what made the vanilla latte so extraordinary. She told me about the quality of their equipment and their beans; she told me about the care the baristas take to control the quantity, time, and temperature variables; and she told me that they use organic milk and that they make their own vanilla syrup. This was a bit of a bummer to hear, because it means I will never be able to come close to replicating such a heavenly beverage at home. But I'll get over it, and I'll absolutely be back to Peace Coffee. EDITED TO ADD: My first visit to Peace Coffee was a week ago, and I went back today. I enjoyed another perfect latte, and brought a mocha home for my sweetie. This place doesn't need a fireplace and cushy chairs when the coffee is so amazing. I'm definitely hooked.

  • Ahmad R.

I've gotten three espresso drinks here, a bit pricey compared to other local sports, running close to $6 for a mocha, but it is a delicious blend. The pumpkin latte had real pumpkin bits in it, which was a revelation when I'd only had Starbucks' version. It's a relaxed and calm environment with lots of locals.

This has been my go to coffee shop for a few years. I don't believe that I've received a single hello, smile, or thank you from the employees. When I say thank you, I'm ignored. I keep hoping that one day I'll visit and there will be a barista that doesn't treat me like I'm ruining their day, but no luck. Yesterday I got treated with the typically aloof attitude which I've come to expect. What made this time different, the barista decided to complain about how little money he makes as a food industry employee. Am I supposed to feel sorry for you? Did you think that my $1 tip was too stingy? Get over yourself. My latte was burnt. It tasted as bitter as your attitude. I'm not expecting the baristas to be over the top nice. I just want to be treated with a small amount of respect. I'm not the only person to complain about this. Obviously things are not getting better. If I were the owner, I would be mortified that my employee was complaining about their pay to the customers. I will be going to Dogwood coffee from now on. Their coffee is better and the baristas are much nicer. It is sad, because Peace seems like a company that I would like to get behind.

Love this place! The staff is super nice. Everything is pretty affordable. I highly recommend the lattes to anybody who is into them. I'd say this is a great place to go and study or read a book. Maybe even catch up with an old friend. I'd feel like I was intruding if I came in with a large group and made too much noise.

I've only been there twice before and the first time I was fairly satisfied with my experience, however the last time it was unpleasant. On 5/2/2015 I went to Peace Coffee before seeing a movie at the Trylon, I stopped in and bought a sandwich and a drink and the bill came out to be close to 10 dollars- I tipped 2. The Barista barely said any words and barely acknowledged me, I thought no big deal right I've experienced similar situations with indifferent employees. I sat down and enjoyed my protein drink and ate my ham sandwich complemented with apples and brie..I have to commend Peace Coffee for the sandwich..seriously! Aside from that, the whole stay was punctuated by hostile gestures from the employee towards me: First, He glared me not once but the entire time I was there, second, he started loudly moralizing from behind the counter to the point I couldn't study, and third when I was seated he wiped my table while I had my stuff on it without so much saying as excuse me. During my time there I felt like my sense of security had been betrayed- I was simply incensed by the lack of respect and conduct. I constantly reran in my mind as to why someone would act like this.. I mean I get it... maybe the tip wasn't enough, but instead of putting a customer through a trial why not just simply communicate rather than alienate people. It is a shame that Peace Coffee keeps such people under their employ and I question whether or not I should visit them again.

Love the coffee here and the wonderful selection of gluten free offerings! Inviting place with new exciting specialty drinks to try or keep it simple with a superior cup of coffee. Not to mention their ethics are amazing they are a company who works hard to keep quality high, pricing reasonable, and their process fair trade organic and good wages. Way to go Peace coffee! I'll keep coming back! Go check it out!

My brother was visiting from out of town and we decided to stop in at Peace Coffee shop. The shop itself is cute and there was decent seating, but the drinks and food were not very good. I ordered the chai latte, which was alright but a little steep at $4.50 for a 12 oz. My brother ordered just a coffee and blueberry almond pastry, neither of which he finished. The coffee was oddly bitter and the pastry was dry and tasteless. With so many coffee shops in twin cities area, there are better places for us to spend our money.

Swank coffee shop. Roast beans locally and even offer tours of their roasting facility. Zagat's has a list of coffee shops for the 50 States, this one is listed.

I really like this place! My sister and I stopped here on the way to Minnehaha Falls last weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful with drink recommendations. I got the cold press coffee with cream and vanilla.... best cold press I've ever had and believe me, I've tried a lot of cold press. I can't wait to go back and I'm glad that it's not on my way to work or I'd probably be stopping there every day for my morning joe.

Every time I see Peace Coffee on my Yelp list, I say to myself, "hey, I need to go there". Well, when I arrived at my friend's house this morning and say Peace Coffee down the block, it was a sign that I finally would make it to the coffee shop. HOORAY! Today was a really warm day, so the cold press coffee seemed like a natural choice. Everyone was really friendly as I tried to figure out the menu. There were some really awesome looking choices on the menue. Affogatto for one. If I had not just scarfed a doughnut at Glam Doll, I would have TOTALLY gone that route. Oh well, I'll just have to go there again. I love Peace Coffee and I love all my usual haunts that serve it, but I'm really glad that they have their own shop now. Way to go Twin Cities!

In my top three for Mpls coffee shops. The lattes and flat whites are always expertly crafted. Great pastries and teas, too. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is our go-to coffee stop when we're in the neighborhood.

A good coffee shop needs many elements working for it. Atmosphere, service, prices, all have an effect on the experience. But the most important thing that is so frequently overlooked is the basic: is the coffee good? Peace Coffee gets the most important thing very right. The coffee is excellent. That's all I can say. Its very good. They know what they're doing and do it well. The shop itself is also nice. Fairly comfortable and quirky. Baked goods aren't all that great, and a little pricey too. But the coffee is good. So I keep coming back.

Love Peace Coffee. Excellent teas (get the ginger/turmeric!) and lattes. I love that they are sustainable and green, make their own syrups and use REAL ingredients! The staff is always lovely and the seating was designed to both accommodate big groups AND individuals there to study/read etc...

A warm and unassuming coffee joint. This is my favorite that I've come across in the Twin Cities. A zen atmosphere and friendly baristas. I also appreciate the cleanliness of this place, as other local coffee shops often serve coffee in old stained, chipped, mismatching mugs and are furnished with worn out pillows, tables, and chairs. My tea latte and bagel (from Common Roots) made for a nice breakfast.

Never thought I would find an espresso beverage with avocado in it, let alone that it would be delicious, but then this ain't amateur hour. This is the magic that's going on at Peace Coffee. The Es Alpukat: espresso blended with ice, avocado, and condensed milk. It's thick, like a smoothie, but very refreshing with assertive espresso flavor. This is listed under their specialty drinks which are always rotating so try it while you can.

Hands down my favorite coffeeshop in Mpls. Amazing tea, and coffee that actually passes my personal test of "does it taste amazing black". I very rarely write reviews, but this place is wonderful. Also, very friendly and approachable staff, by no means the typical standoff-ish hipster types all to common around here, and I live in Uptown and frequent Spyhouse, so I know that deal. Anyhow, PEACE COFFEE ROCKS.

Cute neighborhood gem. The lattes are tasty and the place is cute and everyone is really nice there. It was very busy on the day I went so I am hoping that the next time i'm there, I can sit and lounge around and enjoy my cup of love.

I really like this place, the whole vibe of it. The style is modern and sleek, but not cold. The coffee is delicious and the pastries are good. Sometimes its a bit crowded, so you may not get your favorite spot. They DO have a little side room for gettin' work done- long tables, bright open lighting, etc. Ooh, and there are pillows.

Meh. Since in my newly sober life, coffee shops are my new bars, I tend to visit quite a few in each city I visit and I judge them harshly. As far as a place to hang out for a few hours and do some reading and writing without distractions or feeling like you are imposing, this place does the trick. My wife and I got a seat at the couch in the back and hung out for over three hours; it was a nice quiet place to get stuff done and watch the comings and goings of our fellow humans. When we got there I got a dark roast coffee and my wife ordered a regular old iced coffee. My coffee was better than Folgers or Starbucks, but definitely didn't hit the spot like to many other coffees do. My wife, who is admittedly a bit more picky than me, wasn't even able to finish her iced coffee. After about an hour, I decided to order a bagel, which also disappointed me. I don't know if it's because I was raised in New Jersey, but every time I order a bagel with cream cheese and the cream cheese comes in a container on the side, I'm very upset. Not to mention the bagel tasted like they bought it frozen at the local Safeway (or whatever grocery stores are in Minneapolis. Ralphs). I don't remember what my wife ordered as her second drink and breakfast, but her reaction was neither one of joy or anger. Finally, I don't understand the name. I was expecting some kind of hippie or anarchist ambiance, but was disappointed. I wouldn't ban this place from my list of coffee shops that don't suck, but due to the averageness and strange location of Peace Coffee, I probably won't return.

Whenever I travel, be it for a weekend or longer, I do my best to find a local coffee roaster/house. I do this for two reasons: 1. I hate Starbucks; 2. I always hope there will be a tin coffee sign for sale (which I "collect" in that I have 7 or 8 of them in my kitchen); and C. I like to spend an hour or so figuring out what I am going to do for the day, reading the local paper, and pondering the purchase of alien coffee beans. I do this in any major city in which I do not live. That said, Peace Coffee might be my favorite coffee house anywhere. I did not get a tin sign. I did get some bike socks and they're cool. I also ordered (they were out of my size) a zip-up track jacket. It's green. I had to have it. It also has a graphic for the most revelatory coffee concoction I've ever experienced: the Sasquatch Derby. Why Peace tells you what is in this is beyond me. They even post a recipe on their website. You can look into it if you wish (and you should), I will only tell you this: Iced. Sparkling. Mint. Coffee. Sound weird? I know. Shut up. On top of the amazing drink, the space is stunning, the coffee is terrific, the crowd is friendly. I adore this place.

I always enjoy the espresso blend coffee beans from Peace. I find them at Kowalskis or Byerlys. SO, when I saw they have a physical location I had to check it out. They served up an authentic macchiato (not that starbucks crap) that met all my expectations. I would come here a lot if I lived closer. Plus, the interior has good sitting room and the staff are friendly.

The staff is friendly, the tea is good, there are always vegetarian options for soups and sandwiches, and they get treats from Patisserie 46. For tea drinkers at this coffee shop, there is a nice selection of black teas (Ancient Golden Yunnan is delicious but surprisingly caffeinated), white teas, and green teas. It's loose tea, brewed up one cup at a time. They time the steeping and then give you the leaves in case you want to pour another cup of hot water over them when you're done with the first one. Well done. Both the Heirloom Tomato soup and the Butternut Squash + Sweet Potato soup were excellent. Fresh herbs make a difference. As others have pointed out, the customers here are polite and mostly here to work. I love that. It's quiet enough to get things done, there's enough seating for everyone (most of the time), and it's inspiring to feel like other people are getting things done.

Lots of good places to plug in electronics so you can work and study. They have a few big tables if you come with a big group and also quite a few small ones if you just need a laptop to work on.

Peace Coffee reminds me of an establishment you would find in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. It's the "cool" place to go for coffee. I always picture trendy people with hipster sensibilities hanging around here. This place always seems to be packed in the morning hours. I really do wonder what most of the people who hang out here do for a living. I'd really like to know because I think it would be nice to have a job where I can just hang out in a coffee shop. I used to pass here everyday on my way to my crappy job and wished I could trade places. Yes, Peace is pretty neat and the coffee is really good...it's just that the ambiance is a bit too sterile for me. I like my coffee shops on the cozy side and I don't get that feeling here. I would probably grab a drink to go more often if their prices weren't so damn high.

Peace Coffee is a great way to start the day. You walk in, the atmosphere is terrific. Everyone in there (customers) look friendly and artsy. The main crowd is artsy/professional. Great variety of drinks. Some that you don't see other places. WiFi available as well. I have been there a few times and had a good time. The only thing I would change is the staffs attitude. Not one time I have been there, anyone has smiled at me. Two out of the three times I went, I put a tip in their tip jar and made a friendly comment and I was ignored both times. It seemed like both cashiers I talked with were having a crappy day. For such an upbeat vibrant place, the staff needs to lighten up a bit. Still worth going to!

Very often do I travel through Minneapolis without stopping in at Peace Coffee Shop. While I grab a coffee to-go more often than staying in, the ambiance here is great. There are plenty of seating options to cater to your mood. The art is inspiring, and I believe they feature locals. Like many shops, wi-fi is available free of charge. The parking is quite limited with about five spots in the back, but if you're on the go you won't need to stay for more than a few minutes. The coffee is great, you can really tell good quality when you taste it. You can also rest assured that you're drinking a cup that is 100% organic and was traded fairly. To-go cups are compostable, even the plant based lids. I already can't wait for my next visit.

Open, flowing space. Very comfortable seating. Well lit and nice amount of external light. Good music flowing. Kid-friendly area in the corner. Amazingly delicious coffee and sweets. All of these things add up to a wonderful place for a telecommuter to spend 8 solid hours. If you like a nice vibe, good music and great coffee this is definitely your place.

It's a lovely place to sit, read, and enjoy a cup of coffee. Their place inside is pretty large so it'd be nice if they had a few more tables. I've only been once, but I liked it for studying. I will try again soon.

I bounced between a 4 and a 5...then I thought about what a regular I am and had to go with a 5. I have been going here regularly to study for over a year for a number of reasons. The staff is friendly, they offer bottomless cups of their delicious coffee, the soups and bagels are great mid day snacks, and it is mostly sunny, with lots of windows (which is great for having to spend those sunny days inside with your nose in a book). There is always a vegetarian chili available with a rotating soup second soup option that is usually pretty damn good. I stayed till close one time and was offered a cream scone for free, because everything in the bakery case is fresh daily. They hooked me on the cream scones and now and I strongly recommend them. I unfortunately would not necessarily recommend this as a place to catch up with a friend on the weekends, because it gets pretty busy and can be very difficult to find a place to sit. For good or bad, it is mainly a study spot for most people. Meaning lots of people taking up a table and staring at a book or their computer. Thankfully there are lots of double tables available. Additional info: they have coffee classes available, sell coffee paraphernalia for the coffee lover, as well as bags of beans for sale. You can also request a pour over coffee, instead of regular drip and there is a decent selection of teas available.

My favorite coffee shop to date in Minneapolis. Clean, good energy, friendly, open, good light, zen... almost, if not for the coffee. There is always a choice, and it's really, really good. The mission is good, too.... check out Peace Coffee locally, or order it online. Peace.

I prefer to dress well while out and about. Ninety percent of the time, this ensures that I'll get terrible customer service at establishments with a hipster/relaxed vibe (Guys, remember, it's what's inside that counts.) Not here. I was figuratively blown away by how well I was treated. The cashier was friendly (And complimented the picture on my debit card!), the lady who poured my coffee was friendly, and no one rolled their eyes when my friend and I remembered that we needed to-go cups instead of reusable mugs. While I wasn't a fan of the green tea note in my light roast, the high quality of the coffee was still obvious. I'll definitely be back--and next time, I'll stick around to enjoy the atmosphere.

One beautiful, sunny early afternoon this past autumn, a friend and I had some time to kill while waiting for repairs to be completed on her car and we stopped in here. Walking in, it seemed like a calm and spare environment - pleasing with windows across the front and part of one side letting the bright sunshine in. Not wanting just a cup of brewed coffee, nor espresso just then, I inquired about some special brewed coffee they made available. It was some Mexican coffee bean they'd just gotten in and they brew it - one cup at a time. The staff member told me it was v e r y good. So I ordered a cup, and a cookie. My friend and I sat ourselves at a table in front of the front window and I waited a few minutes for my coffee to arrive. Oh my, yes, it was delicious coffee. And the cookie was nice: a crunchy sugar cookie flavored with orange rind and cardamom. I look forward to my next return. Recently, I spied one (maybe the only one?) of their bicycle delivery guys at Whole Foods - he was tall, trim, and wearing a company emblazoned riding suit. Very nice!

So much disapppointment with my visit to Peace this past weekend. As usual, found out about it on Yelp and got myself there to check it out. First off, it is in a strange location - and not in an interesting way. Second, there was a line in the middle of the afternoon. That made me think, wow, good choice Nirmal, this is clearly a happening place. Turns out, no, the service is just slow. Like I usually do, I purchased beans for Brother and Best Friend. Since I had a tiny bag, I asked if they had half pound bags. The girl just stared at me. I had to ask her again while pointing at the bags. She finally said no. I then asked her to recommend a medium, fruity coffee for Best Friend. She then told me that she didn't know what I would like. What kind of response is that? Do you really not know anything about the coffee that is served there? After some additional prodding, she gave me two options. I think that she was just naming off the first two names that she thought of, because the first one was a light roast and not a medium roast. Le sigh. Sadly, bought two bags of beans anyway and an iced vanilla latte. She then just walked away from after she had me sign the receipt. No bag, no telling me where to go, no receipt. She then came back to stare at me. I asked for a bag for the two pounds of beans. That seemed like a ridiculous request to her but she complied. I also asked if she had entered in my latte order and if it was to go. She just said, yeah. Thanks girl. Meanwhile, there's a massive line and she is doing nothing to speed up the process. I move away and over to where it seemed that people were picking up their drinks. Finally I receive my drink and wander out. My drink is super bitter and watery tasting for something that supposedly has whole milk in it. I have no idea what blend they were using in house, but the vanilla and milk don't manage to smooth out of the bitterness. At this point, I had already left and wasn't about to go back. What a disappointment. I don't know what happened but I definitely recommend you stay away. There are better places. Go to those.

Even though there's "coffee" in the name, GET THE TEA. They do a great job with various delicious kinds and brew them with pretty insane precision. I would suggest going at off hours because this place tends to be packed. It also gets pretty noisy when it's busy, so it doesn't always make a great study spot or place to have a meeting. It's a good date spot or place to people-watch.

Peace is the closest coffee shop to my condo and I'll happily hang there when I'm looking for a solid cup of joe. The shop itself is a bit hippy but the crowd is a nice mix of businessmen, college kids, hipsters and the whole lot. Good coffee, free wifi, eco-friendly, socially responsible and solid sweets to accompany the coffee. All in all, no complaints.

Came here to wait on my car to get worked on at Alexanders Body shop. The service was excellent. They were kind and helpful. They have fair trade coffee and tea and is definitely a place for serious coffee and tea drinkers. I am a tea guy and enjoyed their black tea. Wifi is solid and atmosphere is chill and good for working.

THIS is good coffee. I mean, this is REALLY good coffee! I don't have to walk them thru how to make a proper latte, or cafe au lait, or cappuccino here like I do at (shudder) 4bucks or caribou. There are no automated push button espresso makers here. It's all individually hand crafted perfect espressos and pour overs. They have drip too, but that's not my thing so I can't speak to the quality. The inside is a little sterile for me. It's not a "comfy" coffee shop. The benches do not beckon to be sat on. They are utilitarian. If you can't take your coffee to go for some reason you may sit down, but your tush will ask you to beat a hasty retreat.

The clean-cut, colorful little place reminds me of coffee shops in San Francisco. Definitely a nice, open vibe about the place. The baristas are young. Not very talkative or cordial. Very quiet kids just doin their jobs in semi-trendy clothes. The patrons are old. Just kidding. Mostly late twenties to middle aged folks all typing away on their little laptops, as of course one should while at the coffee shop. I'm not a coffee connoisseur so I have no opinion on the espresso I had other than I liked the cute lil mug it came out in. I also had a bagel, in case you're into bagels, it was a nice bagel.

Peace Coffee Shop is just as wonderful as their fair-trade, bike-delivered coffee that I've been a fan of for a long time. I really liked the ambiance -- it's spacious and almost raw-feeling -- and the bright reds and blues everywhere made me happy. I was boring and just got a plain cup of coffee, but you get to pick out your mug (!) and refill it as many times as you want! Pro tip: There's a really good selection of games in the kid's corner. I had my eye on Bananagrams before a five-year-old snagged it first.

"You're open!" That's what I said to the barista when I entered this long-awaited coffee shop yesterday. They cheerfully answered, "We are!" Peace Coffee isn't just a roastery anymore, bringing bike-delivered caffeine to your local cafes... now they ARE a local cafe. Yayayay! I ordered a hot chocolate and felt like I was sinning by not getting a coffee (I was already buzzed from my morning java). Still, it was a nice, sweet introduction into what will surely be a stop on my rotating coffeehouse rounds. It looks like it'll be a great place to get some work done, chat or have meetings. The place is so beautiful and bright, with really unexpected, crafty details, like the cool art behind the coffee bar. They were still working on tiling the back area, so I look forward to coming back soon when it's all finished up. Go visit them!

My go-to spot in MN. I don't love a lot of places..but this place..LOVE their beans, their company, their barista's, their concept. Non-pretentious and family friendly. Peace Coffee...I LOVE YOU. Fav blend: Blendo Suave needs to be sold/served here. Downside to being so far away from you: it really sucks to pay $8 in shipping for 12 oz.

I'm in love! First impression is a cool (temp) calming (energy) atmosphere. There is a lovely yellow and red floor mosaic that greets you upon entering. They have wi-fi w no password and a little intro to Peace Coffee upon opening the Internet, which I kind of liked. It was an informal welcome to the business. I had my second scone of the day here and it was perfect! Sometimes scones are so chalky but this was just moist enough. Sign outside says they get pastries etc from Patisserie 46, Common Roots and the Wedge. My Americano was... most excellent. I'm also captivated by the decor... lots of red, sky blue and exposed brick and wood. I can easily see myself wiling away a few hours here, say, before a movie at the Trylon...which is just next door. I will definitely be back very soon.

Thank you, Annie D., for bringing this place to my attention! I'm a Peace Coffee fan, so I think it's quite wonderful that they decided to open up a café of their own..and even more wonderful that they sell Common Roots' bagels there. As Bogey once said, "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." The space is so open, modern and artsy. I like the unfinished floors and woodwork, and I also like that they have coloring pages tacked on the wall for me--er, kids---to color. I went on Sunday and it was hoppin', but I still managed to get a table. The sound seems to carry quite a bit, so if you're looking to get some work done, I suggest bringing headphones. The staff was really sweet and I loved my pour over Snowshoe Brew and black bean chili. (What a perfect way to kick off the winter, no?) My only gripe is that they're only open until 2 p.m. on Sundays--but I'm just selfish and want more time in that space! This is a great addition to the Twin Cities' coffee house scene.

Coffee shops, what do you want? A great environment, excellent coffee, a non threatening place to read, work, or talk; and a staff that knows the coffee and takes their time to make a great cup. Enter Peace Coffee Shop. First off the coffee; they have several blends, several ways to make the coffee, and several types. The Batista's did not get their training at your local Starbucks or Caribou Coffee either. They are legit and know how to properly execute a pour over or cup of espresso. The staff is also friendly and more than happy to explain the blends or drinks. Secondly the environment. You can read, hold a meeting, or surf the internet without pushy customers or employees. They have several power outlets and super fast internet. The crowd is not very loud either. Overall, I could not think of anything more you could want in a coffee shop. I live in Iowa and the people of Minnesota should be very lucky to have this gem in their backyard. This is a place I frequent every time I travel through the land of 1,000 lakes.

If any café atmosphere can win my day, then Peace Coffee Shop can also win my heart. There are very few words to describe how this café can make someone feel when they walk in. I was a bit awestruck. From the bright red walls that follow the side of the building to the interior décor, the café brings hope in knowing that someone knew what they were doing when they opened this place. It's quiet, open, and full of bright colors that can flip someone's bad day to one full of smiles. The music keeps the vibe energized during your stay, the staff remains to be exceptionally nice and helpful, and they know how to make a killer latte. Nothing more needs to be said!

It was only a matter of time til the King of Beans in Minneapolis crossed over from wholesale to retail by opening a cafe just blocks from their roastery. This storefront offers a medium sized retail spot with tables, chairs, and a large booth area for people to enjoy gourmet lattes, teas, hot chocolates, etc. They also offer steel cut oatmeal in the morning and other yummy lunch selections. I can't comment on the food...yet. There is also a separate room that appears it could be used for special events, "cuppings' or over flow seating on weekends, etc. The bathroom is outside the retail space and is shared with other folks in the building. It's clean and easy to get to. Parking is easy on the street. And of course there's lots of bike racks! First and foremost the storefront is gorgeous, bright and cheerful and goes along with their red and powder blue hues that has become synonymous with Peace Coffee. The Inside has a good amount of natural lighting. I am not however a fan of the decorating. The west side of the cafe is bright and cheerfully painted but the East side is plain plywood. The contrast is so stark that it appears that PC either ran out of money or forgot to finish the project. Maybe if it was a nicer wood, but plywood? ick! I'd expect more from people who usually have such good design taste. Now, on to the beef...I mean the beverage. I ordered tea having been caffeinated prior and it was amazing. I will definitely go back again for the tea and was impressed that they even had tea given they are a roastery. Thank you PC from your non-coffee drinking friends!! And the baristas are very friendly. Cool hats. I arrived there at around 11am on a weekday and it was mostly a working-with-computers crowd, which kind of made me sad (what has this world come to? We all go to public spaces so we can work privately?) but I broke out my own computer and we all typed away. I expect it's way busier in the morning and on weekends. I'll definitely return and look forward to trying their food and arriving, myself, on a bike!

Excellent fair-trade coffee. Cool, laid-back, friendly vibe. I had a wonderful bowl of oatmeal with raisins and walnuts a few months ago but I don't see it now on the online menu. I hope they haven't stopped serving it. Scones are scrumptious. If I lived closer I'd probably be in here on a daily basis. When I factor in the non-profit mission of the owners it becomes easy for me to rate this a five-star establishment.

Peace Coffee's interior is the bomb. Lots of different seating options (bench, tall table, window, communal table). Whimsical touches. Beautiful sea foam side room. It's very open and quite large, but the noise never overwhelms. Good for working! Also, they sell Kombucha - I like your moves, Peace. Great cold press. My favorite place in the neighborhood!

Perfect coffee/tea and overall hangout place. They really deliver on the quality of the drinks and the whole sustainability and green angle. If I lived in Minneapolis, I would be here at least once a week. Tea and coffee were delivered in style and had a lot of rich taste. They really took the effort in providing a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place. Bring a book or a lap top and enjoy the experience.
