We were pleasantly surprised with this place. When we came in for Saturday lunch around 2pm the place was pretty dead. There were a couple tables with people sitting there but they were lazily looking at their phones or just drinking a beer. I didn't see anyone eating, which should've been a warning. We sat down. Once we ordered, it took a pretty long time to get our food. So yes, the service isn't fantastic here considering that the waitress had 3 tables to service (ours was the only one needing food) and she was rarely around. But we entertained ourselves - walked around, looked through the glass window to watch them make food. Once we got our food it was DELICIOUS. Everything was perfectly seasoned - my burrito con suizo was HUGE for $9.95. The beans and rice was tasty and although the burrito could've had salsa on it to add to the spice level, it was delicious. The s.o. got sopes that was delicious too. It was nicely pan fried and the beef strips were a perfect accompaniment. The margarita though tasted off and we probably wouldn't order it again there. But this restaurant is a great value and we'd definitely be back if we have a little extra time on our hands some weekend afternoon.

My date and I arrived at the restaurant around 10:30 on a Friday night. We were greeted promptly and was told to seat ourselves. Where we seated, the area around us appeared to have some type of karaoke going on but it just added to the liveliness of the place. One part of this restaurant is the dining area. the other part is the bar and dance floor area. We ordered: Two Coronas, shot of Jose Curevo and Guacamole as an appetizer. She brought the avocados and other ingredients to our table in a stone bowl and made it fresh right in front of us. The guacamole was pretty good as was the salsa. For our entrees, I ordered enchiladas and my date ordered Chimichanga. I believe we both thought our entrees were pretty good, authentic mexico food. It was very fresh. We ordered two more coronas and sat and enjoyed the interesting people watching. We were the only non-mexicans in the restaurant or night club. The food overall I give it a 4 stars, I give the atmosphere about a 3.5 but only because the music was so loud and we couldn't talk much. I would probably come here again. One bad thing here is if you are using a restaurant.com certificate, they don't include your drinks in your total-its food only which is hard to do with two people but I think we got close. All in Al, for an appetizer, two entrees, four coronas, and one shot of Jose cuerco ,our bill including tip was $33 which I think is sitll an amazing deal... remember to go to restaurant.com to get these and other restaurant certs.

I'm glad we met here for the Taco Crawl. It was a good launching point, so to speak. We grabbed drinks, waited for people to come, and eventually say down and all ordered a taco (or two). I thought the tacos were ok, but a little bland in comparison to the other spots we went that day. I do have to say, our service was lovely. It was a good stop for the crawl, but I doubt I'll be back anytime soon.

This was our first stop on the taco crawl. My fish taco was okay, not great. The carne asada tacos looked much better. What was great though was the overall vibe of the place. So happy! Even better, the bar area. Our bartender was so nice. He makes a mean margarita and custom blended ones for us that were not already on his pretty lengthy list. It almost made me forget about the snow falling outside. I will absolutely be back to the bar here. In fact, we already came back a second time today!

I wanted to try somewhere new for lunch. Can't really go wrong with Mexican food right? The server was really friendly. The chips and salsa were good. Husband had the soft corn chicken taco and a beef tostada. The chicken had a great grilled flavour! I ordered the enchilada's,one cheese one chicken w/ rice and beans. The rice was delicious but, I chose the red sauce on my enchiladas and it was not good at all.It reminded me of a Caribbean seasoning. All I could taste was ginger, which was very unexpected. I didn't like how it smelled either but I'm not a huge ginger fan. So, maybe the green sauce is the way to go at this place unless you like your Mexican and Caribbean food infused.

Short story: Best Mexican place I've been to in Minnesota. I feel terrible for not visiting Las Mojarras sooner. Well, not THAT terrible because I haven't been working; only went there last night because a friend owed me a drink and that was the closest place. We were there during dinner hours - 6 pm to 8 pm - and in all that time only one other table came in. Highlight: Absolutely the best Sopa Azteca I've ever, ever, EVER had. Even though my lips were burning, I couldn't stop eating it. My friend had a spoonful and said it raised her core temperature two degrees. But it's not too spicy. It is spicy, but it's mostly flavorful and tangy. Food: We had an appetizer of some kind of fish tacos (I can't remember what they called it) with a really spicy red sauce, fresh veggies, beans, sour cream, and Mexican cheese. My friend had the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, which she said was delicious. Everything on the menu looked delicious - it took us forever to decide! Drinks: Very limited wine selection, but it was only $3/glass or $11/bottle and very drinkable - which is outstanding at those prices. I think my margarita was made from a mix. I tried to ask about it, but he waitress didn't understand enough English and thought I was asking about flavored margaritas - which they don't have, which I consider a plus. Anyway, it was either very good for a mix margarita, or so-so for a scratch margarita, I'm not sure which. Atmosphere: It's hard to judge the atmosphere of an empty restaurant. I liked the decor a lot. They kept the interesting paint jobs from two restaurants ago on the walls and ceiling and added tropical fish murals on some walls. There's a tropical fish tank that could be better-placed. The music was not too loud, which I'm starting to think of as an extreme rarity. Service: Our waitress tried hard, she really did, but without her being able to understand us, it was frustrating. The menu was entirely in English, so it was kind of odd to have a non-speaking waitress. But she did make a good sales pitch for the special and told us all her favorite dishes. Price: Extremely low for the quality, but high for this neighborhood. Most entrees were under $20 but the house specialties were mostly $20-$30. As I mentioned, the wine was unbelievably cheap and good for the price. My soup was about $7. I would have paid a helluva lot more. My friend's enchiladas (a platter with beans and rice and all that) was about $12, I believe. EDIT: They no longer serve wine. They serve beer and mixed drinks.

We went there last night with another couple and were really looking forward to trying this place. Couldn't wait to try the guacamole made tableside that we had read about with some nice Mexican beer to start with on a sweltering night. As we were being seated, our server came to the table and said that if we were planning to use a restaurant.com coupon, they are no longer accepting them. Actually, yes, we were planning to use the coupon which has no expiration date. Don't know what the deal is with that - but she said the manager had given them orders. We were all disappointed and angry as well. We drove quite a ways (one couple from Plymouth the other from Minnetonka) to try this place. It didn't sit right with any of us and we decided to simply leave and eat elsewhere. Really can't rate their food - their loss. Beware those of you who think you are going there with a Restaurant.com coupon.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
