Not my favorite banh mi that I've ever had. Tried the curry mock duck thinking that it would bring an interesting flavor to a fairly standard sandwich. Instead of wow-ing me, it just fell flat. I also can't tell if I love or hate the fact that they had many pre-made sandwiches predicting the lunch rush. I ordered mine without cilantro, so it was freshly-made, and I don't think I would have wanted one that had been sitting around for who knows how long. On a street with so many other banh mi options, I'll unfortunately be going elsewhere.

I was craving Asian food after eating countless enchiladas over the past week, I needed a place close by and it needed to relatively cheap. I've only ever walked by this place and finally decided to enter. Though the bare walls made me not want to stay for a sit down meal, I was instantly greeted by smiles and a menu for a take out order. After ordering I was offered water while I waited, always appreciated. I waited for about 7 minutes for my Fried Tofu Noodle Salad and Shrimp Spring rolls, not bad at all and for roughly $11 I was feeling good about my choice especially the weight when it was handed to me! I got home and opened my styrofoam container to reveal some beautiful looking food! I don't know if I've ordered a noodle salad before, but it was awesome! The vinaigrette that came with it was phenomenal, I could have ate that by itself. The tofu was cooked great with some lovely onions and very fresh greens! Very good, though I don't know about completely authentic, the noodles struck me as spaghetti-like right away, and the flavors not as in depth as other Vietnamese food. But I'm in no way in expert in this, just an opinion and I would get this again. The spring rolls I could leave, not my favorite, they are pretty small with no basil or mint, which left it kind of flavorless and the sauce was a little too sweet for me. (I dipped them in the vinaigrette!) I'm excited to try the Bahn Mi, they were staring at me from the front counter ready to be eaten by someone else! I was almost tempted to add it to my order, but I decided to wait until my next trip.

I love love love this place!!!!!!!! It was my favorite banh mi and soup place back in my college days. The owner was amazing I used to go there all the time and I remember a few times when I didn't have the exact $$ the owner always told me I can always pay next time I come in again! She was the sweetest!!! It's been more like 10 years since I've gone back!! Yum I miss it!!

Authentic - yes. Nothing like walking into restaurant that is aesthetically careless and has questionable sanitation to make you feel right back in Asia. But authentic isn't synonymous with deliciously good. I came in with my friend and ordered a: Grilled Pork, Chicken, and Egg rice plate, grilled pork banh mi, a bowl of won ton soup, and eggrolls. You gotta do the staples right. We weren't too impressed with what we ordered. The grilled pork was really dry on the rice plate, there was too much bread to meat ratio in the banh mi, and the eggrolls were average at most. The only thing I liked was the won ton soup probably because I love the dried shallots (the little brown things) in the soup. The won ton soup is the only thing that I will ever come back to Jasmine Deli for. It was authentic in that the food felt very home-made. There was something about the food that made it not restaurant quality but more resembling something you'd find eating in a Vietnamese family's home. The way the grilled pork tasted resembled my aunt's grilled pork. Not that home-made isn't good.... but usually it's a lot different than what you'd find in a restaurant. For example, a home-made steak on the grill vs grilled steak at the Capital Grille or a home-made sandwich vs. one at Jimmy John's or Potbelly's. But on the flip side, the woman serving us was so sweet and nice and the service was so good, you felt like you were in her home and she's showing great hospitality to her house guests. I always love to see non-Asians embracing and enjoying the food that I grew up eating. It makes me feel like the world is moving toward being more open minded about other cultures. Food is so cultural and such a part of a person... I mean you do eat 3 times a day! However, when non-Asians outnumber the Asian people in a restaurant, it should cause you to think twice. There is a reason why Vietnamese people, including myself, are all over Quang's.

Eaten a score of times. This deli differentiates itself from all the other Vietnamese deli's on Nicollet by not using MSG, fraternizing with the white folks, and priding itself on quality over quantity. Given how it seems that almost every Asian place uses MSG, I'm surprised Jasmine doesn't advertise it's abandonment of this malicious ubiquity. I've enjoyed the chicken broken rice, pork vermicelli salad, and curry noodles many times. The Vietnamese sandwiches may be great, but I get mine elsewhere because I like the meat hot off the grill. For some reason it seems to be a favorite of the white, neighborhood people, whereas a place like Quangs teems with Vietnamese driving in from outside the city center. This makes Jasmine no less "authentic" however, this small, family run place just seem more involved in the neighborhood and more gregarious with their customers. I genuinely like this place.

Good, solid, cheap Vietnamese food. As most people have said already, they only take cash. I've been here twice, and the first time I got the pho. It's not my favorite of the three pho places I've been to on eat street. I thought the broth lacked depth...too watery. The next time I went I had their beef banh mi. I do like how the slightly sweet marinated beef and the fresh, crunchy vegetables play against each other, texture-wise. All this for $4. I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

My white friends loooove this place. And I can see why. The flavors are all acclimated to appeal to the white person's palate. This isn't to say the food isn't delicious and good necessarily. But, it is to say, it is not very authentic...all the deep earthy Southeast Asian flavors are omitted. For shame. When I want Pho, I want Pho! Even so, it was interesting to try out this more delicate version. If you want to try a much different version of traditional Pho', Jasmine's Pho is very very different. It's a light almost flavorless broth. There is a hint of some sort of flowery flavor in the broth, but I can't quite put my finger on it. It is indeed delicious and a sophisticated and imaginative variation of Pho. However, if you love the dark, neurotic, fiery traditional Vietnamese Pho, I'd avoid Jasmine. I wouldn't take my Asian parents here, but I'd take my hipster friends, is all I'm saying.

This little place has a "family restaurant on a shoestring" interior that belies the tremendous care they put into the food. You will travel far and wide to find food this good this cheap! The V6 (combo noodle salad) is sublime. I also particularly like the grilled shrimp salad. All the salads are fresh and joyously complex. It's food that feels alive and makes *you* feel alive too. The soup broth is a thing of subtle beauty -- far richer and more complex than the similar broths at Quang's. My favorite is the Jasmine egg noodle soup. I'll also call out the wonton, because who'd expect greatness from wonton soup? Boooring, right? Wrong! It's delicious. A small wonton makes a nice lunch paired with a sandwich -- or the hidden treasure of the herb basil roll appetizer. The pre-made banh mi they have in the deli case are merely OK; if you really want a delicious one, have them make it for you fresh so that the bread is a bit crispy! I find the stir fries and broken rice plates are less exciting than the other entrees. They're fine, but not magical. Beware! They don't take cards. Bring cash.

Jasmine deli is my favorite place to eat in Minneapolis. Their V-6 Salad is to die for, or their tofu banh mi is amazing. Mondays are always a sad day, because they are closed. But it is definitely a great place with affordable prices!

Great meal and a great experience! I love little family run places & Jasmine Deli is definitely that. The service was super friendly- great job explaining things we were unfamiliar with. I had a Lychee Bubble Tea, potstickers and the Mock Duck Pho. The bubble tea was not too sweet- just the way I like it. It was my first mock duck experience. I'll probably pick a different protein in the future, but it's definitely nice for vegetarians to have so many options. Be prepared to wait for a table during meal times and bring cash!

I can't believe how much I live in that parking lot next to Jasmine Deli. I'm a member of Vertical Endeavors, I study all the time at that Dunn Bros, and I eat at Jasmine Deli more than usual. I might as well rent a parking spot there (good thing there's free parking). I digress. My my, the Deli's gotten fancy. What is this? A new fresh coat of paint? New shiny menus? I dig it. I always thought Deli was slightly dingy with very good food. Now it's clean, brighter, and the service has gotten better. Mrs. G and I enjoyed two banh mi's and some spring rolls here. Given we're AzN, we've got high standards for lowly street food. Jasmine Deli always delivers, althought next time, I'm going with Grilled Park vs. Chicken. Always a diverse crowd but what's not to like about a staple like JD?

Holy Camoly! STRAWBERRY BUBBLE TEA with JELLY, soooo Go0d. It's like thick straw berry ice cream with extra really high fat milk in it, and that's GOOD. You go order strawberry bubble tea the next time you visit, just listen to me. I've been in here a few times before to try out each and every of their banh mi, blah, none of them was even decent. This time I came in to try other things. I ordered the egged rice plate with beef. I liked it. Food tasted truely authentic, it's like my mom's food (she's a #1 cook in my book). Although it wasn't perfect, there was something wrong with the carrots. Maybe because I came in at 5pm and that the carrots were sitting out for too long, beef was a little dry as well. I'm sure if i will order from them during lunch or diner time, it'll be fresh and yummier. Also, more meat in my egged rice plate please? I paid $8,50 for it after all. But that's ok, the strawberry bubble tea fixed everything wrong with my rice plate.

After a long lapse - who knows why - I stopped in at Jasmine Deli yesterday. The restaurant was empty!! This was a first for the dozen or so times I've been there. The server assured me they would fill up by 6pm, in another 30 minutes. Since they don't accept credit cards (Sarah, add this to your list) and my wallet generally has everything but cash, I had come prepared with paper money. I was short 4 cents and they were okay with that. 1 order of shrimp spring rolls, 1 mock duck curry banh mi and a mango bubble tea - for under $12 - an inexpensive dinner for two. The spring rolls were very well made, no complaints - theirs is the best I've had in the TC. The mock curry duck banh mi was too sweet and I could not detect the curry flavor - but the cucumbers and cilantro and carrots etc. achieved a nice balance of crunch and taste The mango bubble tea is what my husband thinks they do best but I find it toooo sweet . However, driving back home with the take out bag, I started sipping the bubble tea and ,,,had to drive faster to get home with enough tea left for him. The straw was HUGE and from the very first sip those tapioca pearls were sliding into my mouth. I still couldn't do a full size of bubble tea but a few sips would be good. Jasmine Deli has a good choice of vegan and vegetarian items and they will oblige if you request modifications. When I get the vegetarian soup I ask for no noodles, and more veggies, and have never been able to finish it all. I cannot remember if they have salad on their menu but I saw the owners eating salad once and asked for the same. Cucumbers, carrots, some other fresh veggies, herbs - with lime juice for dressing. Fresh and satisfying. Prices can't be beat.

I only come here for the banh mi. They make a pretty good sandwich. The BBQ pork is excellent and has the right amount of meat. They don't use pate though. The curry mock duck sandwich, which had blown to legendary status in Minneapolis, is all right. The reason it's so highly touted is that it is pretty filling for a vegetarian sandwich. Despite the curry sauce, it is strangely bland. I think they need to add a little salt. Still, their sandwiches are quite cheap, which is always a plus.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Yellow Curry Noodle Salad today. It was very delicious. The dining area was on the small side but it is not like I was pumping elbows with those around me. The inside is nothing impressive. This is one of those places where the food does the selling. The waitstaff were very friendly and prompt.

I used to live in Minneapolis and now, anytime I visit, I make sure to include a stop at Jasmine Deli. if only DC had someplace like it.... I have been to pho restaurants elsewhere (others may be more "authentic," but not more delicious) and nothing stacks up to Jasmine. Do not expect ambiance here-- this is not fine dining. Expect a modest, family-run, "hole-in-the-wall" spot that you can probably afford to patronize several times a week (believe me, I did). You will receive friendly service and delicious food. Even if you are a meat-eater, try the tofu noodle salad. You will not be disappointed.

Great for lunch or dinner. I have never been disappointed and make sure I bring any visitors there for at least one meal while they are in town. I was there recently with my mother, sister, and brother in law who came from Boston and New York, and they could not stop talking about it. They wanted to go back the next day. The vegetarian salads are amazing with mock tuck or tofu. For an appetizer you must have the crispy egg rolls. One of the best I have ever had. The sandwiches are very tasty as well. The portions are hefty so go with an appetite, but you wont leave feeling like you ate a burger and fries. There really is not anything bad on the menu and the food comes out fast. You cannot beat the prices either. You can spend under $20 for 2 people and leave extremely happy. The only caveat is that you must pay in cash so stop at the atm before hand. It is worth it. If you are in your first year at the University of Minnesota Law School, you should definitely get the egg rolls.

The food was really good, and inexpensive! I had never tried bahn-mi, and I really liked the bites I tried. My sis, who loves bahn-mi, liked her's ok, but commented that it was a bit too bready. I had a broken rice dish that was very good and filling. We also tried the egg rolls. I was starving, so they hit the spot, but were way too greasy. The interior and service prevent me from giving the 4th star. I understand dive places, but it was really dirty and dingy inside, and it was packed and cramped. There was only one server working the whole place so our service was a little off (3 people got their food early, no napkins or chopsticks delivered w/ the food). He was nice enough, but he didn't write down any of our order (a huge pet peeve of mine), and had to re-ask what a few of us had to drink after we reminded him that we didn't get our drinks (after he brought the food). I will for sure go back, but probably get my food to go. And, as others have mentioned, no credit cards/checks, so bring cash!

Food is simple and delicious. As a vegetarian, it's nice to know I can get my pho on in the Twin Cities. Most Vietnamese eateries do NOT offer a vegan/veggie broth option, but this place does! Although it's not the best pho I've ever had, it really hits the spot so I guess I can't complain. The vegetarian noodle salad with mock duck is also pretty good. Service was fast and friendly. Cash only. Will definitely return to this place in the future.

Loved it. I have been on a spring roll binge every time I go to a Vietnamese place and had to get them here, naturally. I got the pork and shrimp spring rolls and chicken basil rolls.. Awesome, even though I know they've upped their prices on their menu, I still know I would come back because everyone who ordered around me seemed to be digging their fresh dishes that sat in front of them. Great friendly service and hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. Certainly check this out.

I love Jasmine Deli! It's a small place with only a few tables, small and cozy. Perfect for a casual lunch. Don't let the cheap prices fool you, the food is great as well. I always order the chicken broken rice plate and the mock duck sandwiches. The vegtables are always fresh and crunchy and I've yet to feel the effects of MSG. Service is always good as well, the owner is very entertaining. They only accept cash. It's my only negitive about this place.

Not much more to say that hasn't been said already about Jasmine Deli. The pho here is good, not my favorite, but good. It differs in flavor somewhat from some of the other restaurants' pho as it has these browned onions which bring a sort of smoky flavor or something that I can't quite describe. I enjoy that flavor quite a bit but you have to be in a mood for it, I feel. One of my gripes is seriously mild jalapeños, every time I've been there. Not a huge deal, you can add Sriracha, but I really prefer the spice of jalapenos and the fact that they don't "disagree" with me (so to speak) as much as a lot of Sriracha does. Lastly, love the guy who works here. I am sure others probably also pointed this out (because I have to admit, I didn't read through all the reviews - for shame!) but this guy is very funny. When we first came here, we thought he was being rude to us for a few minutes but finally realized he was messing around with us. Keep this in mind if it is your first time - he seems to banter with everyone who comes in and you will probably be no exception! Oh, and bring cash.

I've had the bánh mì here a few times, and it was swoop-in-swoop-out takeout at that, so I have very limited expertise on all that is Jasmine Deli. I normally hate reviewing places on such limited info... ...but their bánh mì is just the absolute bomb diggity. I really have to add that 1/2 of a cent into the Yelposphere because I felt it was that important to know. It's two things: the right proportion of flavors/ingredients in the sammy and the cheap-azz prices that make me happy. Go on and splurge on those spring rolls too, you big spender...make that tummy happy...

My best friend from high school addicted me to many things over the course of our friendship--punk rock, beer, bleaching my hair, punk rock. But the most dangerous addiction he may have stuck me with was the bahn mi one. When the girlfriend had to deposit some checks at the only ATM of her bank in Minnesota that accepts deposits, I said I'd drive if she bought me a Vietnamese sandwich. She readily agreed to those terms, and off we went toward Jasmine Deli. We started our meal with the mock duck spring rolls. They had a really good flavor to them, especially when paired with the peanut-Sriracha dipping sauce. I ordered the chicken bahn mi, the girlfriend ordered the pork banh mi. It was a solid sandwich, albeit it lacked the spice component that usually sets the banh mi apart from other sandwiches. I, liking spicy things, resorted to dumping Sriracha sauce on the sandwich. The girlfriend, who's a little more lukewarm to spice, resorted to dipping her sandwich in the peanut-Sriracha sauce. We'll be back, but it probably would have been more of a must-stop place had the sandwiches had the traditional chile peppers on them instead of just a decent lunch option. Yes, I am trying to set a Yelp record for most times using the word Sriracha in a review. Sriracha! Sriracha! Sriracha!

It really does not get better!!! it tasty! cheap and flavourrrfull! I am a vegetarian and i love love love the salad! the mock duck sandwich is great! and the Pho (soup) is enjoyable as well. you can get most of anything on the menu made vegetarian. Its a hole in the wall kinda place, so dont expect atmosphere. but its clean, lots of seating and bright. more like a cafe. if you are looking for similar food with better atmosphere, they opened a new joint across the street, try that. (i think its called jasmine 26) an avg meal will be 6-12$ i totally recommend it. Everytime i visit Minneapolis, i visit jasmine deli. NOTE** they only accept cash, so be sure to carry some money. also there is an ATM across the street.

I love this place! Not just because their Bahn Mi's and spring rolls are delicious but because they understand how to treat their customers. I generally can't get my shit together before 7:30-8:00 for dinner during the week and as anyone familiar with "Eat Street" knows, that is cutting it pretty close for most of the good Vietnamese restaurants. Several times I have called Jasmine at 7:50 desperate for a good take-out sandwich, they have never turned me away and are always willing to wait a few extra minutes past their 8:00pm closing time. So, if you enjoy good food served by great people, you should give them a try.

Jasmine Deli is gold. Pure gold. A neighborhood staple with hole-in-the-wall style and better yet, hole-in-the-wall prices, J-Del is where it's at. The original member of the Jasmine family, now including Jasmine 26 and Cafe Kem, Jasmine Deli has always been my favorite place to grab a quick bite. The unassuming appearance of Jasmine Deli should not turn you away from it, nor should its sometimes questionable choice of music. The food is excellent, the service is prompt and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. But really, really, it's all about the food. The Bánh Mì is AWESOME, and the Bánh Mì Chay is better than any other Vietnamese restaurant on Eat Street. The Mock Duck sandwich is delicious, and the Curry Mock Duck sandwich is out of this world. Seriously. I know many meat-eaters who prefer the mock duck or curry mock duck sandwiches. The fresh spring rolls are great, and along with the sandwiches, can be picked up from the deli counter in practically no time at all. The deli counter items make great choices for an impromptu picnic. If it's a beautiful day, grab someone you care about, 2 sandwiches and a pack of spring rolls, and find some nice grass on which to eat. J-Del would still be one of my favorite restaurants if they only had this deli counter. However, there is a full menu, should you feel like staying (and I think you should!) Their noodle salads are excellent, and have won multiple "Best of the Twin Cities" awards. The pho is good, but not great. Tasty and huge, but not the star of the menu. Anything on the menu will be delicious, though. That's guaranteed. As others have noted, Jasmine is Cash/Check only, but the prices are very reasonable, so you can get a good meal without carrying an overstuffed wallet. For delicious Vietnamese food, look no further than Jasmine Deli. You won't regret it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Buhn mi is the new burger. So what. Pho is what you SHOULD be ordering if you make a trip down Eat Street. Vietnamese noodle soup, or pho (said f-ah, for those of you looking to be pronunciatically correct) combines rice, egg or wheat noodles with the protein of your choice, bean sprouts, jalapenos, and veggies drenched in a salty broth. A great light meal, Jasmine Deli's pho is better than the rest thanks to their broth. Thick and salty, with complex flavors and spices, the pho broth at Jasmine is making my mouth water as I write this. Try the noodle salads if you're looking for a little more green. They've got a great combo of flavors and come with a light dressing on the side.

Such a cute little place! Seating is limited but the food is great. The service is friendly and very welcoming as well. It's nice that they have a few options for vegetarians and vegans. The menu itself is not marked as vegetarian or vegan, so, it's best to ask and be specific about your needs. We had the mock duck spring rolls with peanut sauce and the rice noodles in vegetable broth. Both were delicious. In terms of sandwiches, the mock duck or curried mock duck would be the vegetarian/vegan choice, but you must specify "no butter" if you're vegan. Please note that this is a cash only establishment.

I have gone to this place almost a 100 times or more over the past 10 years. Never ever disappoints. Love the small hole in the wall feel and the perfect food and service. My favorites are: Chicken or Mock Duck Sandwich - The bread is delicious and is almost like getting a bit of Paris in the middle of Eat Street. Mock Duck spring rolls - to die for. Papaya Salad - Perfect, but you will need more food. Anything else on the menu is superb too. If there is a place to visit in Minneapolis, then hands down this is it.

Same great family owned business as Jasmine 26 just down the street, yet a little more laid back. Order at the counter as you would at an a la carte joint for to-go or take a seat and be waited on. A bowl of Mock Duck Bun does you good no matter what's up in your life. Do they have fresh springrolls? You damn right they're fresh. Remember they're a cash only establishment.

Awesome. Killer sandwiches at the right price. Atmosphere non existent, it is about the lunch. Casual, delicious, not fancy. As good a review as I could give for a tiny lunch spot.

Basil rolls and grilled pork sandwich were excellent and inexpensive. I liked them so much I came back two days later to get some To go for lunch on the airplane. Pleasant sidewalk seating on Eat Street.

Okay, everyone says that i will never find as good a banh mi in the Twin Cities as i found in Orange County. On the contrary, i have found banh mi here that i've enjoyed MORE than their " superior" counterparts. My favorite is the roast pork, so that's what i got. The bread was a little chewy...but i bet it would be good if you warmed it up in the toaster oven for a while. The balance of ingredients was really good, not too much meat, not too much mayonnaise, just right. The meat was like the kind of roast pork you'd have at home. For some reason, a lot of places in Orange County had this weird roast pork that they'd use that wasn't like this. They did not skimp on the pickles, which is a MUST for me when it comes to banh mi. And their addition of macerated scallion was quite welcome as well. A party of flavors and textures, just like banh mi was meant to be. And they don't make their sandwiches to order here...not complaining too much about that, but i've never seen that before! Maybe that way they can get each one perfect w/o having to rush to see customers? I don't know, even American sandwich places make them to order. Sandwiches cost 3.50. I am used to never paying more than 2.50 for banh mi, and that's from a fancy schmancy place, but i guess i'm not in Kansas anymore. And they don't accept credit cards so come with a supply of currency of our elders. All in all, yay!

Yea! Vegetarian bahn-mi! They have a veggie broth pho too, but I have to get the sandwich when I go there. This place is cheap and the food is great, but I hate eating in there, its just too cramped. I usually just grab a sandwich and springroll from the front and make a run for it. Also, I think it may still be cash only, but I'm not sure...

Walking back from Miss Bertha's with a big ol' vase of flowers (and three balloons flopping around in the breeze), I swung in to Jasmine Deli to grab a quick bite to take home with me. I had long ago tried their Bahn Mi sandwiches, but it was high time to refresh my memory, especially since on my first visit I didn't really understand vietnamese cuisine. I got a mock duck bahn mi, and even a thai bubble tea. It took a few minutes to prepare, but when it was ready I whipped out my credit card to pay . . . Yikes! Cash only! My total was $7.50, and I only had $7 in cold hard cash. They let me slide. How nice is that? The bahn mi was righteous, but I was a little a let down by the bubble tea. I have been ever since the first time I had one. The first time I had a bubble tea was in Boston, and it was actually tea, and I loved it. Every bubble tea place I find here has these slushie tea drinks. I don't think they're nearly as good. The one from Jasmine was okay at first, but only half of it could be acquired via the straw. I had to wait until I got home to spoon out the last of it, and it wasn't worth it by then. So skip the bubble tea, and stick with what Jasmine Deli does best: bahn mi, pho and spring rolls.

I love this place! I would go eat here everyday if I could! Great prices, relatively quiet, great food ( i recommend the rice noodle soups which not only fill you up, have excellent flavor, but leave you feeling amazing, not like you are going to burst). Great service-family owned nice people. Good things to eat: rice noodle bowls anything with the peanut sauce sanwhiches good appetizers! vietnamese coffee made with condensed milk and esspresso! Great for a quiet cheap date! bring cash or check, they don't accept credit cards

Great little Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of eat-street. Everything is great about it. The food is a good and cheap as it gets. And the owner of the place is one of the funniest people you could. If you are very hungry, get the V6 (Bún).

  • Hyojin O.

I tried their ice coffee, beef pho, shrimp spring roll and vermicelli salad with an egg roll. (split everything with a friend) Their peanut sauce for the spring roll and egg roll were good, but I probably will stick to Quang in the future. They don't accept credit cards, cash and check only. The mexican restaurant across the street has an ATM machine. (lifesaver!) Do order their ice coffee made with condensed milk!

Jasmine is one of my favorite lunch spots around. Reliable, excellent food, quick and inexpensive. First visited after a "best of" review back in 2004 (i think) and have been a regular ever since. Favorites are the sandwiches, and noodle bowls. The owners are usually working, very friendly with good sense of humor. Great service too.

I would of given Jasmine 5 stars, but on this last visit their bathroom was a pit. Their spring rolls are great, perfect and fresh, their mock duck sandwiches cannot be beat. Ask for their house made chili sauce!! I have had their soups and noodles and broken rice dishes, what I appreciate is they do use veggie stock and make special sauces for us veggie heads. They do a kick ass bubble tea that is great. I know everything is house made there. However----------clean the bathroom, gut it, start over, put a damn light in the john. It's like their bathroom is an after thought put into their storage closet and there is some cleaning supplies in there and a slop sink with a plant in it. Really an unappealing place to pee. But the food----its fabulous.

Jasmine Deli is the in-the-know spot for people looking for authentic, light, tasty and home-cooked Vietnamese food. The service is always friendly and fast and there are numerous vegan items, including mock duck curries, cold salads, huge bowls of noodle soup with tofu, stir-fry rice plates and my favorite for quick-eats, the mock duck baguette sandwich (if vegan, specify no butter). All of their prices are under $9 and the sandwiches cost only $3 and make a great meal. Two issues, though: they don't accept credit cards and they have highly limited seating. Otherwise, this is the gem of the many Vietnamese restaurants in Minneapolis.

  • Joshua Z.

Have eaten here several times. I find some things better than others: bun salads, banh mi, spring rolls are very good. While I have never gotten it, the curried mock duck banh mi seems very popular with the hipster bicycle riding tattooed crowd. I did find the highly touted soups disappointing. There was no beef pho, only weird amalgams of seafood items, egg noodles, and whatnot. Soups seemed more generically "pan Asian" than what I associate with Vietnam. This was like going to a hamburger joint and discovering all the burgers are actually made from ground chicken. Are the owners Hindu, and avoidant of beef? Very small space, and getting a table at lunch can be a challenge. Probably better for take out.

Best. Soup. Ever. Jasmin Deli's noodle soup is comfort in a bowl. As a vegetarian, it is often difficult to find soup options at Vietnamese restaurants. The vegan broth is simply amazing. With fresh vegetables, ample noodles, and choice of tofu (steamed or fried) or meat - this dish is worth the trip. We keep saying we'll try other places, but we just can't break ourselves away from Jasmin Deli. The family that owns the place is wonderful as well. We love it!

  • Shannon K.

This place is awesome. The bahn mi is delicious (pork is my favorite) and so are the spring rolls. It's family owned and they're really friendly and fun to talk to... last time I was there the guy who I think is the owner told us about new years celebrations in Vietnam. Pros: delicious, very cheap ($3.50 bahn mi, $5-$7 bigger entrees), friendly staff, quiet Cons: very much a hole in the wall, can be a little awkward because it IS small and mostly family/friends who seem to work there, only takes cash. Definitely worth a visit, but remember to get cash before you go.

Update: I'm knocking off another star because I see a bug every time I eat here. Yikes! I would rather not see creepy crawlies while dining. I think I'm removing JD from the restaurants that I frequent, which makes me sad since I used to love it so. Original review: I used to really adore Jasmine Deli, but it seems like they have been going downhill lately. The last several times I have stopped in, they have been out of key ingredients. A few times they were out of bread for the sandwiches and last time they were out of spring rolls. How do you run out of something this basic when they are 2 of the main staples of the menu? That being said, their lemonade is fantastic and I love their mock duck sandwiches. Also, the prices can't be beat.

My first time, and very glad we went. Good service, food was really good, had the grilled chicken sandwich. Bread was fantastic, egg rolls first rate. We will go back again!

I agree with everyone here reviewing Jasmine Deli (5 stars). This place is a little gem. The place is small, unlike Quang's. The reason I probably like this better is that it's low key and the waiter is friendly. He just likes talking to you. Their cute dog is nice too. I haven't tried much in their menu but I did enjoy the sandwich and the Thai iced tea I had. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat to try their soup, salads and their famous spring rolls. If you live in the Twin Cities love Vietnamese food, you gotta visit this place.

I just got back from having lunch at Jasmines. I never ordered Vietnamese food so I wasn't sure what to order. My friend suggested the noodle salads so I got one with fried tofu. I loved this dish and the sauce that you poor over it. This will definitely be on one of my hot spots to go to.

Maybe my favorite Vietnamese place in the Twin Cities. Nice variety of bubble tea flavors, good bank mi, vermicelli noodles, and chicken soup -- I love this when I'm sick. And the prices are right! Really friendly staff too. I've lived in the neighborhood for five years, and after shopping around -- used to go to Quang's, and then the place across the street from Jasmine -- I've settled on Jasmine Deli.

Walked in desperate for a bahn mi but thought I might get something more. Looked around for a menu didn't really see one. I did see signs saying they were awarded the best of many things. I wonder if it is a secret to find what else they serve besides a bahn mi. I ended up getting the pork. It was quite good and so crazy affordable.

I'm not a vegetarian but the Curry Mock Duck sandwich is the way to go at Jasmine Deli. I have not had many of the other items because I always come back for the Curry Mock Duck sandwich. I have had many Vietnamese sandwiches all across the US and this place has one of the best! This place has a small dining area. Its more of a to-go spot for a quick lunch. If you are in the area its is a must try.

Location: Easy to find on Nicollet. Parking is a bit challenging though. Food: I'm beginning to think people around here don't know what good foods are. I went there specifically for the Pork bun mi because of all the reviews. I also ordered the regular cold cut bun mi 2 stores north as it's from the same owner. pork bun mi - stuffing were good and seasoned well. Unfortunately they pre-made the sandwich. Vietnamese bun mi taste best when it's made at order and toasted. Because the bun mi has been sitting there it is now chewy. Cold cut bun mi - the bun is better, crunchy as it should because it was made to order. However, they super thin slide the pork meat to the same size as the carrots and other vegetables. You've lost the flavor of the meat. There isn't enough seasoning. It taste like a simple sandwich with no flavor. Setting: Jasmine Deli were small and nothing fancy just like a typical vietnamese sandwich setting. However, the other store they owned since this summer were a lot better and have more selections (even have wireless internet). Unfortunately because I did not enjoy both the sandwiches I won't be going back to any of them. Price: comparable to other vietnamese bun mi places.

Jasmine Deli is a tiny Vietnamese deli just off of Eat Street (can you tell yet how much I heart Eat Street?). With only a few tables, it is surprising how big their reputation is for great food. A reputation they totally deserve. There is no Pho there (for that you have to go a few doors down to Pho 79) but there are plenty of other tasty in expensive options. Everyone I know raves about their spring rolls, peanut sauce, and sandwiches. In fact, everyone I know who loves Vietnamese food raves about the Jasmine in general. Try finding someone who has something bad to say about the food or the prices or the service. All exceed expectations. Bottom Line: If you like Vietnamese food... go. NOW.

It's hard for me to try new places in Minneapolis when I already have so many favorites that I need to pack into one short weekend visit now and then. But i was happy to try Jasmine Deli because it has banh mi, and I love the banh mi sandwiches I've had at a place back home in Chicago. I tried the pork. Very good. I would have loved more of that tasty filling though! The Vietnamese coffee was excellent! This is obviously a popular place. Lunchtime on a Saturday was quite crowded, but the four of us were able to get a table quickly. The rice and noodle dishes, soups and salads looked like generous portions. I'm not sure this will be a "must go" for me when I'm back in town, but I would definitely recommend it. And if you've never tried bahn me or Vietnamese coffee, you must try it!

I always wanted to try Jasmine Deli after reading all the positive reviews. I finally got the chance to do so. I ordered a noodle, eggroll salad. The fish sauce and eggrolls were just right and those are the key ingredients to the whole dish. I suppose I should come back and try the banh mi sometime.

Occasionally something will remind me of the food here and I will have to stop what I'm doing and go to the tiny place on Nicollet, usually stopping to get cash (they don't take CCs). The Jasmine Deli has that strong a hold on me. I get the charred beef noodle salad with egg rolls in it. My mouth is watering right now. Sometimes I get their coffee too, except with about a quarter of the usual dose of sweetened condensed milk. It's run by a family and they're all sweet and friendly, sometimes a little forgetful. But man, the food is good. And cheap! The bahn mi sandwiches are REALLY good too. Watch out for hidden slices of jalepeno. You think they're green bell pepper and then your mouth is a fiery wasteland - the tears in your eyes will be from more than the burning. You'll be sad to have to wait for the pepper to run its course before you can finish your sandwich.

mock. duck. seriously.. also, the spring rolls were perfect and the bubble tea was sweet but not cloyingly so. i tried to devour the whole meal but failed....i'm not a quitter though. next time i'm in the cities i will definitely try again.

One of my favorite lunch spots. Very fresh and flavorful ingredients and just-right-sized portions. Great soups and rice noodle salads. Very reasonably priced. Super friendly service. It's a small and popular place, but the owner does everything he can to fit you in. Or if you're in a hurry, a ready-made sandwiches and spring rolls make a fabulous lunch for around $6. The sandwiches are the Vietnamese version of a sub sandwich on REALLY good bread. Yum.

My favorite banh mi's in Minneapolis! Super cheap and super fresh --- why would you get a McDonald's sandwich when you can get an 8 inch french roll filled with julienned pickled carrots and daikon, spears of cucumber, sliced fresh jalepenos, sprigs of cilantro and your choice of barbecued meats(chicken beef pork) or mock duck. All of that for about the same price as a McD's sammich! Jasmine Deli also has my favorite kind of goi du du (shredded green papaya salad), with shrimp and char siu pork. It's light crispy and fresher tasting than other green papaya salads, I think because you add the fish sauce yourself instead of the restaurant letting the shreds get soggy and sodden in the back. With that being said, I like to dress the salad immediately upon receiving it, then letting the fish sauce soak into it for about five or so minutes before eating it. Their noodle salads (bun) are the freshest tasting and prettiest in the city. The deli's food is far superior to the fancier sister's, Jasmine 26, and is cheaper to boot. There are some things on the menu I'm not a huge fan of. Their soups are actually pretty bad. Their pork broth soup is bland yet weirdly sweetly flavored. The meat pie that comes with the com tam is dry crumbly and tasteless, a pale comparison to Pho Tau Bay's juicy flavorful meat pie. And oftentimes when if they run out of the meat pies, they replace it with a fried egg without telling you --- really not an acceptable substitute anyway considering that an egg is so cheap and not difficult to prepare nor is it meat the way I want meat to be! They should tell you upfront and not charge you as much if you choose to get the egg.

Jasmine is a frequent lunch or dinner spot for my family and I. There are so many great Vietnamese places, especially in St. Paul, and Jasmine is unique in its smallness and fresh food. I love the sandwiches, and they are a true bargain. When they are out of bread like they were on Saturday, then you just have to try something else. Don't waste time with the fried eggrolls. They are greasier than most and not a specialty. Stick with the fresh ingredients stuff like the salads and sandwiches. You just can't go wrong at their prices. Fantastic vegan choices as well.

In theory great food but rude staff and an outrageously filthy bathroom make this the most unpleasant dining experience in the Twin Cities. It is too bad when a restaurant allows such simple things to ruin what would have been a great and inexpensive meal. The person behind the counter did not talk to us or thank us when we left. If the department of health walked in the bathroom (or I'm guessing the kitchen) they would be shut down.

Jasmine Deli is a small Vietnamese deli in South Mpls. They have seating for about 20-30 people inside and during the temperate months, have sidewalk seating as well. I am a borderline regular there, and all I can say is the food is outstanding and affordable. The fresh spring rolls and sandwiches are worth the drive from any part of the metro. The soups and noodle salads are excellent as well. Even if you aren't a vegetarian, don't miss the mock duck items, as they change up the ingredients to make things veg friendly and it is like having a whole different menu to try.

  • Lacey P.

Well their soup is good and all, and they always have weird stuff on the Tv, and it's pretty cheap, and sometimes they give you the food they mess up on for free, but there is this waiter who thinks he is a hilarious comedian who wouldn't leave us alone the last time I went there with a friend who was not only visiting from NYC and trying to catch up with her friends on her birthday, but had pnumonia in both her lungs. He just wouldn't stop talking and asking us questions about our personal lives. It was out of control.

Probably my favorite place on Eat Street. Blink and you'll miss it, it is a dingy little storefront, but it is just so good!! Try to Jasmine noodle soup, it's amazing, especially when it's cold out. Their spring rolls are excellent as well. Staff is family and friendly.

  • Michelle K.

Yummy, yum, yum. I love the fresh, flavorable, and inexpensive food they have at Jasmine. Spring rolls are outstanding, with great peanut sauce on the side. The veg spring rolls are made with mock duck and fried onions, so they're completely different than the pork/shrimp rolls. They sandwiches are always good, with the grilled pork being my favorite. Lots of rice noodles salads, and rice noodles soups to choose from as well. Great for meat-lovers to vegans.

There is something so charming about jasmine. Is it the adorable boy that takes your order? Is it the cute grandmas that make you feel like family? Is it the food? It's a combo of all. I feel guilty going to places other than jasmine because they seriously treat you like fam. Yes it's not the best banh mi in town. However, if you want solid customer service, a grandma to chat with, and patio seating go to jasmine. They will take care of you, and you will feel the love.

Delicious! My friend and I made our way down Nicollet in search of some cheap food and stumbled upon Jasmine Deli. With relatively low expectations we ordered spring rolls, pay fried egg noodles, and bahn mi. It was all so good! We wanted to stay longer and decided that some bubble tea was in order. Friendly and attentive staff coupled with scrumptious food. 10/10 would return!

Was here about a month ago after a visit at the MIA. So glad we found this small sweet place. Introduced us to Banh Mi sandwiches that were super yummy. The pho from the neighboring tables looked huge and amazing too. Definitely looking forward to visiting again to try the other menu nom noms. Looks like it is a family run place. Prices can't be beat. They even have premade sandwiches on the counter to go.

Went on a weekday for lunch and there were only two other people (solo) there. One girl was just sitting there reading a book and enjoying her food, and another guy was eating and chatting with the waiter guy. Nice, friendly, quiet atmosphere. People came in once in a while to pick up takeout orders. I'd say there are at least 9 or 10 tables to sit at, but a lot of them are two-person tables. BEST EGG ROLLS ON THE PLANET. Great service and tasty, inexpensive food.

Excellent, CHEAP, and authentic. I stopped by today to finally try these famous Vietnamese sammies--perfect. Not only were they delicious, but--and what I think most new shops are getting wrong--they were Vietnamese sammy prices! At less than $3.30 a sandwich for deliciousness, you can't go wrong on that alone. But even more endearing about this place is the family that owns it, and the service they provide. While I waited for my sammy, we shared family photos, talked about what our relatives are up to, etc. A real family place. Nomination for the Best Vietnamese Sandwich in the Twin Cities--5 stars.

Heavenly. The pork basil spring rolls are phenomenal. I haven't had anything on the menu I don't like, but my fave is the combination noodle salad. The stir-fried noodles with tofu is also out of this world. Cheap and amazing. The place is small and chilly in the winter, but some hot tea will warm you up.

If Chipotle gives fast, inexpensive, and decent quality Mexican food, then the Jasmine Deli does that for vietnamese food. I really enjoyed this place. It has a very local, Mom and Pop feel to it. The restaurant is small and pretty tucked away. I have seen an older women work here and I believe her son is the server. They do not give you any special treatment, they just ask what you want and then bring it to you. The quantity is very generous! They have meat, vegetarian, and vegan (not certified) options. I am a vegan and just ordered dishes without meat or eggs, and made sure they didn't use any fish oil or other animal-based products in my soup. They also have mock duck and tofu as meat alternatives if you have moral or health reasons preventing you from eating meat. Overall, I liked this place. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable and delicious vietnamese meal. ... Great, now I'm hungry and want to go to Jasmine Deli...

Tasty, authentic, and cheap! These are a few of my favorite things. Bahn mi's are one of my favorite sandwiches and enjoying one while in Minneapolis was great. I would much rather spend my money on beers than food when traveling so I was happy to find a filling $5 lunch.

I visited Jasmine Deli based on all the rave reviews that it was getting on Yelp. When I arrived, I was a little bit disappointed to hear that they only have vegetarian and chicken stock pho. Should have read the reviews a bit more carefully. This place is known for its light and subtle flavours, not the MSG laden pho that knocks you out. I ordered the combination fresh rolls and the combination pho. I loved the little details that went into the sauce for the fresh rolls, making the sauce a peanuty chili spicy dip. The rolls were plump and generously stuffed. The pho was probably good, as the gourmet chefs would like it. The soup was light and clear, but flavourful. There were lovely roasted garlic pieces that added a strong flavour. This isn't quite the heavy rich pho that I was looking for, but good on them for filling a gap in the cuisine.

I've had Vietnamese sandwiches before, but this place rocks! They have inside and outside seating, and their sandwiches are pre-made so you can grab and go...can't get better than that. They're $3.75 each, and then there are also some pre-made packages of spring rolls for about $4.00. Today was my first visit and I got both, but I should've gotten just one because they are both SUPER filling. I am very impressed. The service was also very nice. I will be back for many more luncheons here.

It's crazy I have never reviewed Jasmine's Deli. I live across the street and like going here. They have a ton of bahn mi's pre-made each morning available to pick-up & if you stop in too early after open you'll have to come back. They are so kind every time I go in and never had a bad sandwich. I could use a bit more flavor/substance to the sandwich but for $4 it is a good deal. All in all, great for quick, tasty takeout. Never eaten in nor had any other offerings.

I love a weekday lunch at Jasmine Deli, the best time to go is 11 or 1 if you want to skip the rush - the space is on the small side but I've never had to wait for a table. I love the chicken pho, egg rolls and spicy wontons. Great service that is friendly and quick.

I've been going to Jasmine for over ten years. Spring Rolls, Bahn Mi Sandwiches and their rice noodle soup are my go to meals but The noodle salads, rice plates are also great. I will admit to having a few things that weren't great over the years, but out of the hundreds of times I've eaten here, I can forgive a small percentage of mistakes. The family who own and run this establishment are funny, kind and have gone out of their way for me on many occasions. Service is great. They also have an awesome Kona Kampachi Ceramic Fish hanging on the wall.

Fantastic food, prompt and friendly service, and extremely inexpensive. The noodle salads taste fresh and have great flavor - especially the meat/egg roll. The roll is crispy and the sauce is spiced to perfection. The pho is full of flavor and not too fishy tasting. The staff is friendly and prompt with their service - kept my water glass full the whole time! Highly recommended!

"and yes I said yes I will eat spring rolls and Bahn Mi sandwiches from Jasmine Deli. Yes." That's what Molly Bloom would have said if she had known about this place, but she had to settle for sex, which is also nice, if not as reliably so.

Awesome Vietnamese food on Eat Street in Minneapolis. Small family run business. The won ton soup is especially good, the broth is really tasty, I've not been able to find anything like it elsewhere. The spring rolls are terrific. Peanut spicy chicken appetizer is also really excellent. Really nice family runs the place. It's a little small and if you show up at the lunch rush you might have a problem getting seated. Worth waiting though. Soups and rolls are better than anything you can find in the big Vietnamese places nearby.

The BunMi, Broken rice plates and noodle salads are some of my favorites here. I really like the service they provide as well. Very friendly staff and great food.

Really good food for a really good price. It's one of those restaurants that are in business to because they love to make good food and share it with people. The servers are nice (I think they're all a family/related) so that kind of gives it a more authentic flare. I'll definitely be coming back.
