What's not to like about the International House of Pancakes? Ihop Bloomington is close to both the Mall of America and Minneapolis international airport and serves the regular Ihop menu sortiment; pancakes, pancakes, pancakes and coffee. The coffee at Ihop is affordable and good, especially as part of their breakfast menu. This is surprising, as the Dennys and Perkins of the world are not normally known for their fine, aromatic java. if you're a pancake lover, you'll love Ihop.

It's Ihop. Busy busy busy. We thought we'd miss the church crowd this am but I guess not. The host was fun and kept the waiting guests smiling. We were seated in less than the 15-20 minute predicted wait. Mom had her usual crepes with ligonberry. I strayed from my usual spinach swiss mushroom omelet and tried the biscuits and gravy-meh. The biscuits are ok, seem just rewarmed on the grill. Gravy is blah blah blah only pepper so there is no flavor. Sausage links on the side. Scrambled eggs were right on. Hash browns were great and well browned crunchiness :) Coffee and hot tea great and hard to screw up. I asked for water and never got any oh well our waiter was busy and such a nice cute guy I was not going to tip him less due to a glass of water.

IHOP is a great place for a quick breakfast. It's the same type of restaurant as Embers or Perkins, but it's certainly the best of the bunch. This one was very busy on a late Sunday morning, yet we were seated in five minutes and served food in another ten. The all-meals-anytime menu is pretty large and the breakfast choices are many. I ordered the cheese blintzes (I'll try to add a picture, too) with strawberries. No, it wasn't something exquisite from Tavern On The Green caliber, but it was something tasty and FILLING! I could only eat two of my three blintzes. I'm no slouch when it comes to packing away food, so I was pretty surprised. The strawberry sauce was a little cornstarchy. Pluses: they offered me a side of sour cream which is *essential* to eating blintzes. Minuses: The Potato Pancakes are no longer on the menu. These were delicate wonders served with fried apples and sour cream. It's why I went there today. I was a little disappointed to find they're gone. Tip: This seems to be Point A for Vikings fans on their way to a game. They feed at IHOP and then board the light-rail to the Metrodome downtown on game days. If you go later in the morning, you'll miss them. (Note to the Yelp! admins: please rename this page to IHOP. I tried searching for it under that name and couldn't find it on my iPhone. NO ONE calls it anything other than 'IHOP,' and that is the name the other Twin Cities IHOP restaurants use.)

I was so happy when this chain was resurrected. They have the lightest, fluffiest pancakes. I hate dark brown cakes. They still have all the weird syrups. I go for the heated up maple. Good omelettes too. I like the one with the ham and salsa, it used to be called the International, but that's defunct. A couple of downers. What's with the one small blob of cold butter on all those cakes. A small plate for a side of cakes, awkward and messy. Cramped because of all the advertising shit on the table. After 40 some years in business, still the shittiest, weakest coffee I ever had. The cornmeal cakes aren't what they used to be. I had to send them back. I think it's still a 24/7 place. I don't go as often, since I discovered OPH, but they are in demand. Very kid friendly. A great location for this.
