Admitedly I am pretty new to downtown and all the skyway and food truck offerings they have down here. That being said I do already have some favorites. I just added another to the list. Despite the positive yelp reviews I had low expectations for this joint. I mean fast food Indian in a not super busy part of the skyway? Sounded like a recipe for disaster. It was really good though....to my complete surprise. Now it wasn't the best Indian food I've ever had or anything but it was still really good. Like other people mentioned it's not spicy enough for my taste but with needing to cater to so many people I can understand that. i just wish they would set some siracha or something out for those of us that want to kick up the heat. The sheer amount of food you get for the price is wonderful too. I get more food out of here than I do at most restaurants. My meal was just over 7 bucks. I got a scoop of chicken tikka masala, vegetable curry, hefty serving of rice, half a round of naan (which is like 2 pitas) and some deep fried vegatable (biryani i think it was called) thing that was wonderous and your choice of several types of chutneys. Everything was pretty rad minus the spice issue. The mint chutney was great. The naan was freshly made in house (you can watch the little indian lady make it) and the entrees were well seasoned and flavorful. And apparently they make each set of veggie samosas to order and they look fantastic. There is seating though this place gets busy right away so there isn't a ton of options...esp since it isn't in the hub of skyway activity. I can only imagine what these people could do with a full size restaurant considering their results in this little place left me happy and excited about such a close option for some delish ethnic food. A little gem of the skyway.

This is an oasis in a desert of skyway fast food lunch options. Not to mention the price is right. For a mere $5.99 I got dal, chickpea batter-fried vegetables, vegetable rice and 2 pieces of naan. I go almost once a week now and haven't tired of it because the entrees change daily. I've seen Palak Paneer, Vegetable Curry, Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Joshua and more types of chutneys than I even knew existed. As an herbivore, it's nice to know that I can count on something delicious every time...and fantastic naan!

This place is okay guys. If you want good Indian food, this place is okay but that is pretty much it- just okay. By any measurable standards, this place is not authentic Indian food. The menu is but the food is not. The food is bland. Not bad-bland but just not spicy. Nearby places like Ipotli or Kabobs have this down to a science. The place has good seating. SECRET: If you don't find seating here, you can find seating around this place- since the floor has a lot of eating places, you might be able to find a place nearby that is for the " food court". For teams, there is a lot of good options around this place, American, Chinese, Mexican- you name it. The only worthwhile place for me is the Tea House Express. The place is great- however it has bad seating. Not that is has insufficient seating, it is just that the seating is not efficient. Long story short- if you want good Indian fast food- go to Kabobs or Ipotli, if you want okay Indian food go to Bombay Bistro express (next to Macy's in downtown Minneapolis). If you want extremely good quantity of pseudo-Indian food- which is a great value for money- go to this place. You might not be disappointed.

It's probably the only skyway Indian lunch option in Downtown Minneapolis. I really seem to like the food here. The food is light, tasty, and very economical. The amount of food they serve for just $6 is amazing. You get 2 vegetables, naan, and rice. I seem to like this place much better compared to other Indian options in town in terms of value for money. If you like Indian food, definitely give it a shot. They have decent seating area and have never seen it totally full as many people carry out. My friends who are non vegetarian have noticed that they seem to run out of non vegetarian food by 12:30 and sometimes even earlier. So you could try going a little early for lunch.

Some years ago during my first trip to the UK, I fell in love with really good North Indian food. After I got back, I roamed our city in search of a decent substitute and came up empty time after time. I began to feel like a character from a Greek tragedy -- addicted to the unobtainable and cursed to walk the earth in search of it for all eternity. India Express is pretty close. It's still a far cry from the true curry houses of London and Edinburgh, but it's solid by Minneapolis standards. The offerings rotate on a daily basis, but you're generally guaranteed some of the following: a chicken curry, several types of biryani, a masala dish or two, a makhani dish or two, and perhaps a vegetable. Samosas are available by request and are delicious and lovingly handmade. The owner once apologized for the four or five minutes it took to make them. I turned around and thanked him for not microwaving thirty frozen ones each morning and letting them sit under a heat lamp all day. I mean really -- freshly prepared skyway food? Awesome. A dish or two including basmati rice and naan bread will run you about six bucks -- and that's a lot of food for the price. Definitely worth checking out.

If you work in downtown Minneapolis, skyway food is a fact of life if you don't bring your lunch in every day. Minneapolis was bereft of decent, fast, fresh Indian food until this place opened recently in the skyway of the Towle Building. I usually get the vegetarian meal. Their veggie curry is really good and so is their saag paneer. The spice level is toned way down for Midwestern palates... I'd be happier if it were just a bit spicier, but oh well, it still tastes very good. The naan is hot, fresh and fluffy. Portions are decently sized for the price (around $6.00 or so). I plan to try their samosas next time I go there, because they look great! If you work in downtown Minneapolis, this place is definitely worth a jaunt through the skyway!

This lunch option in the Minneapolis sky way (Downtown, and a great set up for winter time escapism of the outside) offers inexpensive and quite delicious Indian fare. While I've never had anything that wasn't tasty and flavorful, I will also say the spice level is noticeably toned down. However, the food is consistently fresh and dependable- the naan hot, the curries always tasting as though they have been recently prepared. Tofu Palaak is a fine vegetarian option one might not expect, and all the veggie curries are at the same level- falling under the category of comfort food, which is no bad thing.

There's a fine balance to be struck between wishing you'd been served more food AND being served so much food that your takeout box runneth over. India Express misses that balance but errs on the side of giving you more than your to-go container can handle. My sweater paid the price for this, but my stomach appreciated my sweater's sacrifice. I can't blame India Express for my choice to wear a white sweater on a Monday; I can caution you to get a bag when you get takeout, because these portions are generous. Although India Express is further from my office, it's less expensive than neighboring Indian choices and the hot line offers a surprising amount of options, both vegetarian and meat-based. I gave the Vegetable Curry and the Chicken Tikka Masala a shot, both of which were filling and tasty. I appreciate that India Express didn't charge me extra for Biryani, and the Tikka Masala really brought out the flavors of the peppers in the recipe - rather than focusing on hiding veggies in the cream sauce, each bite was full of veggie goodness and nicely-cooked chicken.

They don't label their offerings, which is a shame. The price point is good. The food is flavorful, but I will warn you now, you get a TON of sauce, with not much in it. Chicken curry, you can fish in your sauce and find 3-4 small diced pieces. Even the vegetables are skimped on. I know enough about Indian food to know that these guys are gouging you so if you can deal with how you're being hustled in terms of value, give them a try. Honestly, I'd rather pay more at Spicy Touch to get a little more.

Yum, yum, and yum. Not only was my food perfect, but the atmosphere of the restaurant was great too. I don't even really know what else to say about it aside from that I felt it was a teeny bit spendy for the small portion I got, but I was happy to not be rolling my fat belly out of there. The rice was the most delicious rice ever!

I was really disappointed with India Express. I was expecting a delicious spicy meal. It was pretty bland to me. I also didn't like the fact that they do not fry the tofu first -- tofu gets too mushy if it's not fried first. The only good thing was they do give you a lot of food for your money.

I could not believe how much food came in the 2 dish vegetarian option. While there was only two options both were equally delicious. Most vegetarian options are either bland or overcooked vegetables, this was neither. The price was more than reasonable for the quick service and large portions.

I had lunch today and I was completely satisfied with the food. The Chole Paneer Saag was good. I had Saag, Roti, Pakoda, Mushroom Curry and Raita. Everything for pretty good for that price. The Naan was perfect, Mushroom curry was fine and Raita was very good. The salad too was fresh. Im happy and satisfied.

I went to India Express for the first time today. I had the combo lunch with Chicken Tikki Masala and a vegetable-cashew dish. Good portions sizes and lunch includes samosa and naan. Food is very average. It's not bad(I've definitely had BAD Indian food before). But if you're looking for really good Indian food, this is not it. Amy's frozen Indian entrees are a better alternative.
