Great service and fast delivery but the food was awful! Chicken Lo Mein and Kung Pao pork were dry, flavorless, and devoid of spice. Veggies over cooked in both dishes. Fried rice and egg rolls were the only edible items.

After scoping out the joint from across the street, I thought I'd pay this place a visit. I ordered the potstickers and the kung pao chicken. The potstickers were okay - 5 or 6 in an order, deep fried, not terribly flavorful, the kind that you would find in the freezer section, deep fried. The kung pao chicken was sadly pretty disappointing. There was definitely a spice to it, but other than that, the sauce was very salty and was a hot, corn starchy mess. The ingredients were too soaked in the sauce and so everything was too salty. The service here though was fantastic - the guy always had a smile on his face and getting the food to go was QUICK. Sadly, it's about the food for me, and can't give it that many more stars for that. There is bar seating in front of the window with 4-5 seats in case you want to stay in to eat. It's a great view in the summer time - sunshine, people watching, busy street.

Fast delivery and friendly service. The spring rolls were fresh and delicious. The pad thai was not as spicy as I'd like, but nothing a bit of sriracha couldnt fix. We also got the mongolian beef which had a nice kick. We will definitely order again!

Absolutely outstanding food and even better service. All of our food was made fresh to order and used no MSG, which can be hard to find these days. The vermicelli noodle salad and k'tieu cha were AMAZING, perhaps the best I've ever had. I Definitely will be coming back soon!

In terms of fast-casual food (think Noodles and Company, LeeAnn Chin, My Burger, etc), this place is great! Overall, they do a great job at what they do. It's also a totally local concept, which I love! I called in and ordered a little bit of everything: egg rolls, fresh spring rolls, fried rice, chicken with vegetables, orange chicken, and cream cheese wontons. The gentleman who took my order was super friendly and helpful and spoke clearly, which I appreciated. All of the food was delivered to my home by another super friendly guy within 45 minutes. The food was hot, too! As far as I can tell, they appear to only use all white meat chicken in their chicken dishes (which isn't my thing personally, but is most definitely something that a lot of people will appreciate). The vegetables were wonderfully crisp yet tender - totally perfect. The fried rice, which had little flecks of egg and scallion in it, was a little more moist and sticky than I'm used to, but was good nonetheless. The orange chicken was passable with overly salty, sweet, sticky, and thick sauce that and didn't have much orange flavor to it at all. That said, there was a pleasant (super light) spiciness to it, which is out of the ordinary for Chinese delivery. What really stood out to me were the fresh spring rolls and the cream cheese wontons. The spring rolls were stuffed with plenty of shrimp, crunchy english cucumber, mint, big leaves of lettuce, noodles, carrots, bean sprouts, scallions, and a little bit of roast pork. Everything inside was perfectly proportioned. The cream cheese wontons, although sweet as a previous reviewer mentioned, were crunchy and pillowy. The cream cheese was SUPER rich and creamy - not at all rubbery as it is at many other Chinese delivery places. The added sugar isn't a wonderful addition to the cream cheese wontons in my opinion, but it's absolutely not atypical - most other Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants in the area that do exactly the same thing. Overall I'm happy with Hot Wok. It's not the type of place that I'd ever see myself entering if I felt like leaving my house - there are SO MANY incredible Chinese and Vietnamese places on Eat Street that don't deliver and are out-of-this-world - but I can see myself ordering delivery from here again. Check it out and see for yourself!

The only decent part of my order was the egg rolls. Other than that I would not recommend this place nor will I be ordering from them again. I ordered delivery and half-way through my meal I found a STAPLE stuck on one of the chicken wings, which were mostly breading with hardly any meat and a very gooey sauce. The mongolian beef was pretty bland and the beef was quite chewy. The cream cheese wontons were so-so, I didn't care for the added sugar, but I think that's more a matter of personal taste. I'm usually pretty easy to please and I wanted to like this place, but it was way below par. Finding office items in terrible food is a complete deal breaker and there is no way I would ever recommend this place. Gross!

First time order delivery. Happy that most everything was at least warm, it was delivery! It was somewhat late, but it is a Friday night. Egg foo young, egg rolls, creme cheese won tons, tofu with veggies, and chow mein. CUT THE SUGAR, PLEASE. Everything except the egg rolls and the white rice had way to much sugar. The egg roll was very good, even without the sauce. But every thing else had way too much sugar. I've never had such sweet Asian food. Please, lower the sugar content and you will be the place we return to for delivery of very good Asian food. The service over the phone was great, the driver was great. I even got a phone call from the restaurant when the food was 10 minutes late stating 'Sorry, we are running a little late', what fast food place does this? Oh, and the noodles for the chow mein were not crunchy, keep them sealed until they are ready to go out with an order, please. Or buy single serving bags of them, that will ensure they are crunchy, if not fresh.

I had a groupon to use at this place twice and both times have been equally bad. You don't get nearly as much food as you do at other (better) asian food places, and it's not high quality. I tried the vermicelli noodle salad and the pad Thai. Neither of them taste close to authentic and needed a LOT of extra sauce and spice to make them even bearable. The only reason they got two stars instead of one is because their spring rolls are okay and so is the tofu. I do not recommend this place! UPDATE: the stir fry we got doesn't even have rice or noodles or anything. Pathetic. And I just found a HAIR in my spring roll! I will NEVER be going back there. And don't even try to call them to leave a message after hours, their mailbox is full!

Disclaimer: I am trying to get a job here as a delivery driver. I went for the first time yesterday. My first impression walking in is positive. The menu is not big and it is not identical to the average Lutheran/Chinese restaurants that permeate this state, all serving 99.9% of the same bland dishes, and their menu is not from the same printer on Canal Street in NYC that the rest of them use, spelling errors intact. They refer to themselves as Asian Fusion so the choices are not strictly what one would call Chinese. They are also emphasizing that they have some gluten-free choices. If they're still around after a year I'll be suggesting that they transition to GMO-free and all organic ingredients. That is what many of the newer people in the neighborhood will be looking for, even if it means slightly higher prices. Eating alone, I can't order too much. In this visit I had the egg rolls: excellent, assembled fresh, not the standard frozen ones filled with mostly cabbage. The egg drop soup is also very good, not the usual thick goop found in most places. It's a very flavorful broth (chicken?). The Kung Pao shrimp has good tasting ingredients. My only complaint there is the lack of spice. What does that pepper symbol on the menu mean? Within 1.5 miles of me are six or so MN style Chinese 'greasy spoons'. I don't expect to be going to any of them again.

Overall, I was impressed with Hot Wok Delivery. I got the Saiko Ang (beef skewers), fried rice, and egg rolls to go and the food tasted fresh and wasn't greasy at all. The portions and prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly. I've heard that the Pad Thai is really good so I'll have to try that the next time I'm in town.

Ordered take out and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. Everything that we ordered was very reasonable priced and tasted better than our normal take out spot. We definitely will order from here again.

Finally! Decent delivery Chinese food! The chicken wings are exceptional. The fried rice is good. All of the veggies in the dishes were fresh and crispy. Nothing was greasy at all. We weren't fans of the won tons as the cream cheese was sweetened but I bet many will like them.

Fresh, tasty, lots of veggies, yay! Like many others, we also used our Groupon to try this place out. It is *light years* ahead of our other usual delivery go-to. We ordered pot stickers, pork egg rolls, kung pao chicken combo plate (w/white rice instead of fried) and the Mongolian stir fry with shrimp. The kung pao chicken is not breaded, was really good white chicken breast meat - and had lots of really awesome FRESH, RECOGNIZABLE veggies in it! We usually order extra veg with everything, but really, this was like we'd make it at home - loved that the green pepper and celery and carrots were truly recognizable as being cut from real, fresh veggies. Awesome stir-fried whole peanuts on top - nice! The pork egg rolls were amazing - more like a fried spring roll - super delicate, crisp, light and crunchy. The pot stickers were deep fried (Wonder if they do steamed? Next time, I'll ask.) with a really flavorful filling and they came arranged on a bed of shredded cabbage - nice touch. Dipping sauces were all solid - we're salt junkies so we added fish sauce to a few things. :) Embarrassed to admit that I did get the cream cheese wontons with the combo plate (guilty pleasure) and they really are as creamy as other reviewers say. Yum. (FYI, you get three of them with the combo plate - perfect.) We requested extra spicy for both of our entrees and they delivered on that - visible chili pepper seeds in evidence, amen. Don't mean to be such a fan-girl, but wow, when you're used to gloppy, heavy, light on the protein & veg usual options, this was such a refreshing change. Our delivery took 45 minutes, no problem, which I took as a sign that they were actually cooking our food fresh - just good to know if you're hangry. ;) Totally worth the wait & everything arrived piping hot & well packaged. Looking forward to trying the pad thai, beef skewer apps and the lemongrass & beef stir fry.

Fantastic new take-out Chinese! Fresh vegetables and all dishes were prepared deliciously. I especially appreciated the patience of the person taking the order on the phone - very nice and friendly. Great beef with lemongrass, veggie fried rice. The place itself is so warm, clean and inviting - not like the usual takeout place. Great new spot.I will definitely be back soon!i

Great food! Bought the Groupon "site unseen" but wow, really lived up to the freshness they advertised...We had wings, spring rolls, lomein, pineapple chicken that was 100% white meat, and Mongolian beef that was amazing! Glad we still have a fresher delivery option for Asian food.

We just ordered delivery and it took TWO AND A HALF HOURS from calling on the phone until the driver actually arrived. If I could give zero stars, I would. After an hour and twenty minutes we called to check on the status and the girl answering the phone admitted that she never turned the order in to the kitchen. The girl offered us 50% off our next order (even though there won't be a next order) and promised it would come in 30-40 minutes. It took another hour and ten minutes after that! We live a few miles away from the restaurant in an enormous condominium complex and still the driver called us several times to ask for directions or to let us know he was still 20 minutes away. After TWO AND A HALF HOURS of waiting, all of the containers were covered in fluid and it all fell out the bottom of a soaked paper bag. Fortunately we caught it and were able to eat it but the food was cold and flavorless. I had pad thai which consisted of cold, sticky, white noodles with no flavor or sauce whatsoever. I just added my own peanut sauce to it so it would at least be tolerable. We will never order from them again and I suggest you save yourself the trouble and the long hungry wait.

If I ever become a teacher, I'd love to have a student with an effort like Hot Wok. For what appeared as another panda-express on the surface, Hot Wok went above and beyond others in its class by yards and miles. The staffs were very nice and cordial, and their service was impeccable. When I picked up my order, I was surprised by how neatly packaged my take-out bag was assembled. As for the food containers, I cannot emphasize enough about how impressed I was that the staffs took the time to wrap them nicely as if they were merchandises. For a klutz like me, the wrapping helped a lot since nothing leaked out from the boxes while I was driving. Not only did the external presentation of the food earn an A+, the actual product, namely the food itself, was also uber d'lish. Thanks for saving my carseat and my tummy, Hot Wok! To quote the (ex)gov'nator, "I'll be back!"

I am a big Xin Wong Fan, but figured I would try the new guy on the block. Ordered the fresh spring rolls, chicken pad thai, and potstickers on a Sunday night. Food came about when it was supposed to and the delivery guy was nice. The spring rolls were great, fresh shrimp, crunchy cabbage, and dang fine roll. The sauce was not as salty as you get with those in a lot of places. Potstickers were a bit on the small side, but tasty nonetheless. 8 to an order, thy were well cooked and not chewey. The Pad Thai was probably my least favorite. The chicken was pretty dry and the whole dish was pretty bland. It wasnt bad, just probably would not order again. I'll try the Sesame chicken next time!

I recently bought a groupon for this establishment and gave the delivery a try. The service was amazing - I am not used to good service from most Chinese delivery places, but these guys helped explain some of the dishes and let me customize the rice and spring rolls. They delivered the food in the expected time and the delivery woman was very pleasant. I ordered the spring rolls, doughnuts, cream cheese wontons, sweet and sour chicken and vegetable fried rice. The spring rolls were really good. The rest of my order was lacking a bit. Tons of people on here seem to love the cream cheese wontons, but I found them overly sweet. The chicken was alright, but very dry and I was not given enough sweet and sour sauce. The fried rice was also overdone and nothing like what I usually get at Fresh Wok. This place also cost me much more than other delivery places with the same type of food. Overall, the service and spring rolls were great, but I would not order from here again without a groupon.

We ordered take out, so I cannot comment on delivery. I gave them 2 stars, instead of one, because the staff here are very friendly and have great intentions, but the food we ordered was not good. We ordered the orange chicken and Pad Thai. I am usually wary of ordering something like Pad Thai from a non Thai restaurant, but I had read good reviews here, and Hot Wok is a supposedly fusion concept, so I thought I'd risk it. The pad Thai had pale, barely cooked, noodles, with a watery, flavorless broth, and what seemed like at least two scrambled eggs. Usually the noodles are stir fried with egg, but this was many, big, chunks of scrambled egg. The chicken meat was all white meat and good quality, but flavorless. The orange chicken was also quality meat, but the sauce was heavy on the soy and light on the orange, and very salty. Also, I applaud the concept of using eco-friendly, recycle-able containers, but in reality this resulted in soggy, already breaking down paper boxes that had soaked up much of the pad Thai broth. They are aware of the issue because each was wrapped in layers of cling film to contain the liquid mess. They would be better off using the usual paper box take out containers and trusting we will recycle them, the soggy mess was unappetizing. I hope they make some improvements, I will check for updates before I order again.

I tried this place for the first time about a month ago. I had some coupons that I had gotten in the mail and figured "why not? " I was absolutely pleasantly surprised! Best Chinese food I've had in a LONG time. Super friendly people, food doesn't taste like it has MSG in it, tastes fresh. Even the cream cheese wontons are the best I've had from any other place. This could easily become my new holy grail of Chinese places.

For Chinese fast food, my husband and I were both impressed. We both tried the orange chicken, and we both loved it. We went into the store since we were already in uptown, and our food came out quickly and the workers were kind.

We decided to give Hot Wok a try after reviewing some favorable reviews and because they currently have a great Groupon deal. We ordered the fresh spring rolls and cream cheese wontons (per other yelpers recommendations). The spring rolls were fresh and large and came with two different dipping sauces. The cream cheese wontons are the some of the best I've had in Minneapolis and another Yelper wasn't kidding when they described them as extra creamy. YUM! Both of our entrees were good (Chicken and Veggie and General Tso Chicken) but for me the fried rice that came with the combo was the best part of the dish! It look about 45 minutes for our order to arrive but our delivery was very pleasant. We appreciated that all the boxes were labeled and individually sealed with a description of our order. We did not experience any soggy boxes as described in an earlier review. This is going to be our new "bad" Chinese go-to delivery place! **Note: There is a $2.95 delivery charge on all orders that they don't tell you when placing an order.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
