Been here 2 times now. Once for breakfast on a Sunday morning, and once for a Saturday lunch. The breakfast was terrific. My friend had the shrimp and grits. I had a cuban style shredded beef dish - I cant remember the name. This not your usual breakfast eggs & pancakes place. This is true gourmet food cook by a chef who obviously knows what he is doing. Lunch was outstanding also. We both had the burger and shared a bottle of wine. I probably wont do justice describing the burger. It just cant be described as a traditional burger in any way. It is a gourmet created sandwich that happens to have ground beef as one of the fantastic ingredients. Delicious Highly recommend this nice, comfortable, little cafe

Brunchies. I had the brunchies a couple of weeks ago (actually, who am I kidding? I have them every day.). Called up my friend and we decided to try the new Harriet Brasserie after we looked at their online menu and saw Crab Cake Benedict (more on this later). We arrived and weren't really greeted right away, which is a bit strange since they were not lacking for staff. But once we sat down we were well looked after. It's small, but a very lovely space packed with tables like a real French brasserie. At least, the ones in my imagination. It's been about eight years since I ate at a real French brasserie, so what do I know? There's a small patio that was unfortunately full that day, so we sat inside since we were starving after biking over. There's no full liquor, but they serve mimosas with different juices (no sake bloody marys, bummer). I ended up sticking with a big, strong iced coffee. My crab cake bennie was delicious. It's one egg sitting on top of a crab cake sitting on top of a white corn blini and then dressed with avocado-bacon emulsion and roasted poblano hollandaise. All the sauces perfectly complimented the crab cake. The blini was kind of forgettable, but the rest of it was great. The portion is a bit small for $13 since it doesn't come with a side, but I was more than satisfied in the belly area. Their eggs are VERY soft poached so I actually ended up calling a server over to ask about it. She said that is the normal way they serve them there and assured me it was safe to eat, but she was more than happy to ask the kitchen to do a new egg. I almost never send food back, but I was glad that I did because the second egg came out perfectly---still runny and awesome. Anyway, the lesson is to just make sure to order your egg a little closer to medium poached if that's the way you like it. We also ordered a shareable side of hashbrowns that you ABSOLUTELY MUST ORDER, crispy. They are cooked in bacon fat. Though greasy, I wouldn't change a thing. I found a big piece of bacon buried in the potatoes and you would've thought I had just won the lottery. The end.

I have heard great things about this place for Brunch for some time now, so on a recent weekend my wife and I finally came to check it out. We had been to this space a couple times as it is in the same firehouse location of Cafe 28 and was hoping Harriet Brasserie would not disappoint. Instead of a traditional brunch dish you might find elsewhere, I was quickly attracted to the Ropa Vieja. I had actually been craving this dish the prior week, so what I was going to get was a no brainer. The ropa vieja was great. Not quite the same quantity one may find at Victor's 1959 cafe, but definitely worth getting. I look forward to my next visit the next time I am in Linden Hills.

A definite step-up from the previous tenant! Stopped in for brunch (I must admit it felt weird to walk past Tilia, but you know, trying new things and what not). The space looks much bigger than it used to, even though not much has been changed as far as I can tell--except maybe paint color. There is a very small patio, and I imagine on nice days for brunch it would be tough to get a table. The wait time we were given was "um I think it might be a awhile." So we sat inside. We skipped the mimosas in favor of a glass of cava. We both liked the champagne flutes, so that is a plus. I had a savory scone, thyme and parmesan, amazing. My friend got the tostadas and they looked outrageous (came highly recommended from our server). I had an amazing salad with these out-of-this-world spicy peanuts. The greens and dressing were great, but these peanuts were life changing, I wish they just sold buckets of them. They do not. I definitely will return to try dinner, and can imagine the Harriet Brasserie becoming a good alternative to Tilia when in Linden Hills.

Eat here. We had an excellent dinner. Great suggestions and insight provided by the staff. My wife and I went here spur of the moment. We had an great time. We'll definitely be back. Each course was timed nicely, we told them we weren't in a hurry. No rush. The wine suggestions were very enjoyable and went well with our food.

I had a great time at Harriet Brasserie. The atmosphere is super relaxed, inviting and the wine pours were generous (big plus). Lately I've been underwhelmed by the service at some restaurants that serve wonderful food. I was delighted to sit down at a place that featured both. The server was attentive, informative and made excellent food and wine suggestions. Just what I am looking for when I am looking for great new spots. The atmosphere is cool enough to bring a date, but not too hipster where you couldn't bring your parents. It is not too different than it's neighbor Tilia. In fact I'd be hard pressed to find too many stark differences between the two, which is a compliment to both. Maybe the waits at both will decrease due to their similarities and closeness. The scallops and bison tartar were highlights. You could really taste their homemade-ness. Nothing I ate was particularly spectacular, but great preparations of familiar ingredients. I liked that the menu had some staples for the picky eaters, and more unique dishes for the food lovers. Don't go for serious conversation. You won't be able to hear each other. Go for the convenience (parking!) and stay for the menu/wine/beer.

Remember how your Mom/Aunt/Grandparent would slop some hotdish on your plate but it was absolutely delicious? Flip that. 9.5 on artistic expression. 6.5 on execution. Small portions displayed wonderfully. Taste is okay but doesn't match the expectation of the display.

Nice! That's the word that literally comes to mind. Said emphatically, like that. My companion kept using the word "interesting" in his praises of this place, and I said "you know I beg to differ. That's the one praise term I would not heap on this place." While there are some interesting Brazilian flourishes and some wines literally labeled "interesing" - which are that, and are awesome, (nice touch) there's really no confontation here and no hope of any - that's the only weakness I feel that it has, it's a very low-risk approach. We had a low risk item though, the Baruru. It's a great splitter lunch, basically a kick ass steak sandwich. But this means you have a can't-go-wrong that seems to draw out a bit of a suited possibly expense account crowd, who know better than to go to a chain place. Everything I had did its job, and I don't want to give the impression that the food is boring either - it's not boring, it's just definitely not surprising. As for the service and atmosphere, it seems much more polished and much less chaotic than Tilia. Our waitress was very sensitive to what we wanted and our pacing, and open to some sense of humor, always a plus. I'd say I prefer the Harriet over Tilia any time I want relaxation to be a part of the meal. I definitely can see myself returning.

4.5 stars. The location, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. I thought the food could have used just a liiiiittle more something. But I'm being super picky here, because it was wonderful. My friend and I came here for brunch on a Tuesday morning. We were the first ones, so we got to choose between a table indoors or outside. We chose outside, but it would have been just as nice to eat inside. Our server was awesome. He was very respectful, but chill, and he knew a lot about the menu and made sure we were always taken care of. Awesome! The food was delish--but I thought the flavors could have been a little more nuanced. Both of our dishes had strong primary flavors, but some of the undertones could have been worked on (I'm totally making things up here, and probably sounding way more bad-ass than I mean). I had the tostadas, which had perfectly cooked eggs on top of crispy fried tortillas, some savory beans, with zingy salsas and creamy slices of avocado on top. Definitely a good choice. The portion was just right for a hungry girl. My friend had the tofu hash. I just tried a small bite of the yucca, but it was flavored nicely. It definitely had the whole spicy-sweet szechuan thing going on. All of the menu items sounded amazing, so I'm looking forward to trying more. Next time, I'm trying the pancakes.

What just happened?! Amazing food. Amazing service. I just took my mom here for Mother's Day brunch, and it couldn't have been a better experience. The server/host was cheerful and friendly at 8 in the morning when we walked in (first ones there as they had just opened for the day), and was very knowledgeable about the various options on the menu, making recommendations that turned out to be spot-on. I had the pancakes with banana and cocoa nibs with creme fraiche, my mom had the crab benedict, and my husband had the tofu hash. It was all perfectly prepared and very flavorful. My pancakes were amazing. What a great little gem in Linden Hills. We'll be back for dinner soon!

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm something I'm not and get all hipster-slash-artsy fartsy-snooty-think I'm better than I am. Harriet Brasserie is a perfect little joint for that. Oh, and, that's not a bad thing by the by. We found this place after trying to go to LOLA (1 hr wait. must be really good). It was the only place without a wait. Normally that would be a bad thing but not this time. I dropped off my cohort, her child, and my child, then parked (it's Linden Hills baby!) and they were seated immediately. Right next to the window/door that overlooked the patio. Sweet! The menu was semi readable (sandwiches and salads should be separate categories). The prices were steep but we were hungry at this point and jumped at it. We needed an extra minute to decide exactly what we wanted. Our waiter took an inordinate amount of time to return to us. Not usually a big deal but we had a child with us who was visibly draining away. After he ate he was bouncy again. Funny how food does that ain't it? Also, we were never presented with a kids menu, leading us to believe they didn't have one. Until we left and saw one on the entry table. Wah? Other than the minor faux pas of taking too long to return, our waiter was great. There for questions but not hovering. Our drinks were refilled BEFORE they were completely empty, and we were asked after the initial refill if we wanted more in a very polite and courteous way that didn't make us feel as if we were a burden. I had the Bauru which was not bad, but it's a steak sandwich so it shouldn't be bad. My counter-diner was torn but she eventually decided on the Mussels. Eh, they were presented to us via the waiter as the greatest Mussels in town. Really? No. Decent enough, but they were a bit over cooked and the sauce was too light and cilantro filled. She liked them but I thought....meh. The best meal of the night went to my 6 year old son. It was...drumroll please............the Octopus!!! It wasn't the prettiest of meals but had excellent flavor and lots of octopi meat. It had a spicy little sauce to it that wasn't so spicy that a 6yr old wouldn't eat it. Thai style undercurrents and a crisp finish. Plus it's funny as hell to watch those tiny little octopi legs hanging out of a little kids mouth as he slurps them in and gives you the thumbs up! Overall a good experience for a place that has only been open a month. I would like to see the menu fine tuned a bit, and would absolutely LOVE to see them redo those giant windows/doors (the building was once a fire station) so that they can open up completely Ala Brasa. Next time I would request the cute little patio. Plus, when there is a child present, please remember to present the kids menu. We probably would have ordered the Octopus anyway (my regular readers will know he LOVES octopus), but still.....

Happened to come by on Friday, the first day they opened for lunch. Seemed a little chaotic and the service was slow. Our server, when asked about how big the hearts of palm sandwich was said: "I don't know, I'm pretty new here. I do know that most ingredients are local." Which isn't helpful. So we ordered and waited and waited. It was totally worth the wait. The chilled pea soup was fantastic, and my tuna tartare salad was a work of art. Could have used more tuna, but it was really fresh and came on a bed of micro greens and various seaweed. Pea soup was creamy and amazing, and little bits of roe on top. I'd come back just for that.
