Today I was in the mood for a Gyro so I walked down to the Greek Grill to fulfill this want. I had the Chicken Gyro combo (fries and soda) for just under $10. I consider the price to be reasonable for fast food downtown. I walked back to my office to dig in. Boy was I disappointed. The ingredients were fresh but the tzatziki sauce left so much to be desired. One of the best things about tzatziki sauce is that you get to taste it for the rest of the day. The Greek Grill's version left me running for some gum to remove the flavor. Such a bummer but I will not go back.

was looking for a place to eat before a Timberwolves game, and found this place. Had the Gyro and Salad combo. Everything was really fresh, and tasted delicious. Reasonably priced. Will definately stop back , when I am in downtown Minneapolis.

Great spot. I've had the gyros and Greek Grill Combo and neither failed to deliver. Good spice with great flavor. Lunchtime gets pretty busy so be sure to get there a little early

I go to Greek Grille about once a month. I'd probably go more often if it was a closer to my office I don't claim to be a Greek expert or anything, but I am always delighted with these special Greek sauces they are slathering on my food. I don't subscribe to the meat eating variety, and I always find the vegetarian options to be abundant and satisfying. The cashiers are a little flirtatious which is always amusing over the lunch hour, prices are reasonable and the food comes out fast. This is a recipe for success for a lady on lunch.

Great gyro-fries combo with refillable soda. I have tried a few other things and would like to try more, but it's gotten very expensive. Hard to justify spending $10 on an unknown quantity for lunch. The portions vary, so it may not be enough. This place has been a good option for many years though.

This place has decent souvlaki and gyros. But the chicken souvlaki I've had was a little overcooked. If I am feeling like I want something a little more interesting than what is being cooked up in the company cafeteria and I don't want another deli or sub sandwich, I occasionally take the walk to Greek Grill to grab lunch. While they don't make the best fast food Greek you'll ever find, it is definitely good enough for the occasional repeat visit.

I love the Greek Grill. It's got that food court-feel, so it's understandable if you're skeptical, but it's so worth it. I typically go for the falafel plate, which is a falafel pita sandwich with greek salad on the side. It's a serious 45 minute meal. No better way to stretch out the lunch hour!! I love the dressing on the salad (which they also load up with veggies), I think the sauce on the falafel rocks, and I can't wait to try their breakfast. Perfect quick stop on the way in to work! I would definitely recommend this over the neighboring spots in the City Center (Baja Grill, LeAnn Chin, Au Bon Pain). Delish!

If you work in downtown and you're looking for a good lunch spot, the Greek Grill is for you. Although it is one of my favorite places for food, it does have a casual feel. Don't be fooled by its appearance.. Be sure to order the Afghani chicken skewers with rice. In addition, ask for the spicy sauce. Make sure you have a little time if you come in during lunch hour as there is often a very long line.

When I want something different from the normal skyway fare, I like to come here. I tend to get either the Afghani Chicken with greek salad and a side of hummus or the falafel platter with salad and hummus. The food is good and the service is fast.

A gyro with nothing but meat, tahini and one tomato slice? I am perplexed, texturally.

Cayenne chicken plate is seriously awesome... i get it everytime. It's the best meal I've ever had at a "fast food" joint (besides an In-N-Out burger). Try it.

I had the lamb kabob, and while there was a wait, the meat was delicious. Busy place, but worth the wait!

This place is pretty solid. As with the other fast food Greek joints around town, you know what you're getting and you're getting it cheap and friendly. The portions are generous for the price.

If you want Greek fast food in Minneapolis - this is the place to go! Its Gyro heaven! I typically order the Gyro combo - with either fries or basmati rice. Its always cooked to perfection with a perfect blend of ingredients. Service is always fast and friendly and even at the peak of lunchtime, the line moved fast. Simply, if you want better Greek food - you'll have to go to Greece!

  • Hyojin O.

I have liked everything I've tried so far except the eggplant dish. If you order anything that needs to be grilled, it will take a bit longer. But it's worth the wait as their lamb rack and chicken kabob will totally satisfy your meat fix. Their basmati rice is buttery and flavorful, but you can trade it for their plentiful greek salad. Ask for extra cucumber sauce for 25 cents and take some of their semi-homemade hot sauce vinegarette which is good on anything!

Okay for the skyway, Trieste Cafe is tenfold better.

their afghani chicken with salad IS THE BEST LUNCH IN THE SKYWAYS.

  • Janet M.

Why did this place close?? I was just there a few weeks ago, and it was packed as usual. Tried to go there today and it's empty, no sign or anything. It was one of my very favorite places in the skyway!

This was such a nice retreat from what had to be one of the hottest days of the year. Seemed like air conditioning wasn't invented yet in most places including where I work. I was in major need of a cooling off, and while I was hungry my stomach was getting sick from the heat as well. Gyros sounded good, and sounded even better once I came upon the Greek Grill. I took one step inside and was filled with joy, finally some air conditioning. It was so hot on this day that even the Skyway's were steamy and most of the places I'd wen't by had employees that were visibly sweating. The last thing I needed at this point was to have my stomach get any sicker from observing the actions of overheated employees so I decided to eat here. I am so glad I did, this has got to be one of the best places for a Gyro in Central Downtown. Thier done just the way I like them, a firm pita that doesn't rip on you and are not overloaded. I got a Gyro combo with fries which were also excellent, and a drink with free refills for $7 bucks, not bad at all. I'm not usually that big on mall - like places such as those in the City Center but this was really nice. Very friendly people too, they were really busy but yet treated me as if I was the last customer on Earth. I would absolutely recommend coming here, especially if the insanely hot days of mid summer are making you sick, this place will cure you.

I used to work down in the City Center and would go here for lunch at least twice a week. I miss it enough to make a detour there as much as I can when I am in the area. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my food. Everything I have had there has been awesome, and it is always fresh made. My favorite are the Souvlaki platter or the Souvlaki sandwich. They use nice size chunks of fresh grilled beef, I'd have to say they are either top sirloin or chuck eye. They're always seasoned perfectly and never over cooked. The sandwich is served on a pita with lettuce, tomato, feta, and cucumber sauce. The platter comes with either rice or a Greek salad. The one thing I will *always* add to my order is their fries. They are pretty close to the best I've ever had. They are the perfect texture and they are made from fresh cut potatoes. If you happen to be downtown, or work there, give these guys a try, you won't be sorry.

Afghani chicken special is really good. Overall a good, usually quick lunch place, though lines can get long right after noon. Call ahead with an order to get in and out quick.

  • Jamison U.

This was a well priced (under $10) lunch and a fine Gyro (I also had rice, which was surprisingly well cooked for mall food). I indeed might eat here again while I am staying in Minneapolis.

Tried this place when making an office visit down on 6th St S. Seems like a solid lunch spot, cheap and quick. My gyro sandwich (~$5) was very tasty, with warm, soft bread, and tender meat. Gyro places are a dime a dozen, but this one didn't feel overly weighted down by unnecessary veggies. I tried my co-worker's chicken kebab and liked it a lot as well. There's a lot more on the menu I'd like to try, including the expected (spanakopita) and the less-so (chana masala).

Was in town and I was excited to go to my favorite Greek spot. They are Closed as of 5/22/15 according to the letter on the door. Bummer

This is a nice and quick Greek food joint. My only issue is with their wraps/sandwiches. They always stuff them that you aren't able to keep the food in it as you attempt to consume it... Grab a fork or spoon to eat your sandwich cause it won't be in that format once you unwrap the foil.

This hits the spot when you need some spice at lunch. The afghan chicken kabobs are really similar to tikka kabobs, so I was pleased with the flavor. The Greek salad is pretty good, but the dressing feels more oily than flavorful. The portions could be a lot bigger too. I was super duper hungry after an hour, and I don't know why? The portions seemed large, but it left me wanting more. Def a place to visit in the skyway.

  • Jennifer M.

I like the food. Spanikopita? Very good. PROBLEM? If you're not going to be open for breakfast, take the menu down.

  • Chris L.

My take is that it just doesn't compare to Trieste Cafe, which has the market cornered on good Greek downtown. That said, Trieste runs out of seating quick and if you want to sit and eat your Greek, this is probably your best (albeit distant second) option. Or perhaps I'm just spoiled by Trieste.

On occasion I fail to bring a lunch to work and end up going out. Greek Grill became a spot I'd go to once or twice a month due to it's convenience. The food is decent, not great. It was good enough to keep me coming back though. Before today I probably would have given it three stars. Today, I was short on time and passing by, so I stopped in with the intent to take it back to my office and this was my exchange. I ordered my usual without skipping a beat. "Gyro & fries to go, hold the onions," for my coworkers sake. Cashier yells back to the kitchen, "Gyro, Fries, No Onion." Order comes out Gyro...no onion. Okay, "where are the fries?" Cashier looks at ticket and states, "It's not on the ticket." Alright, "Well I asked for fries." Cashier, "You didn't order fries." So I kindly say knowing full well I always step up and order this, "Well I did, so can I get some?" Cashier, "I have to ring it up you weren't charged." I reply, "Not a problem." Cashier states it's $2.92 or something close. So I say, "So, I don't get the combo price?" He shrugs and states, "You didn't order fries." Thanks, but you can keep the gyro. It's a shame to rate a business on one experience, but unfortunately that one bad experience soured me on this place. They had the opportunity to make it right, but instead decided to blame the customer. Next time I'm looking for Greek, I'll take the extra couple minutes to walk to Trieste Cafe instead.

I had only been to this place once before and was happy with the experience. This time around, I stopped at this place with a bunch of coworkers for team lunch. One of the guys that I work with had a craving for Greek food; so, Greek Grill we went! We arrived a little after 11:30AM, there wasn't a long line, but there were plenty of people already eating. The setup is pretty easy, order off the simple menu, pay and pick up your order when they call your number. This time around I got the Combo 3; which is a gyro, Greek salad and a beverage; I got lamb, there is no other way to get a gyro! Just like I remembered from the first time I ate here, the lamb was tender and the ingredients were very fresh. The cucumber sauce has something special in it, but I can't figure it out. This place has great food, fast service and most of all, you can pay with a $10 and get change back. *be sure to get there between 11:30 and 11:45; it was PACKED at noon*

It's a blessing (and a curse) that Greek Grill is thisclose to my work place. This is the perfect workplace fast food joint: the prices are reasonable, the service is nice, the food comes out fast and hot, the soda has free refills, the silverware is stocked, the place is clean and bright, the tables turn pretty quickly (and there's a lot of them), there's a loyalty program, and of course the food is pretty damn great. Oh and they have a pretty big menu with lots of daily specials, that I really must try. But it's so hard to deviate from the tried and true, you know? I go for your classic gyro sandwich with side of fries about 98% of the time. I don't mind that they're made ahead of time for the lunch hour rush, because that means I'm in and out of that place in 3 minutes, tops. Well 3 and a half if I take the time to put seasoned salt on the fries, which is an absolute must. Their fries are always piping hot and a perfect mix of crunchy and soft. It glistens slightly with oil so the salt coats it really well. The gyro sandwich is legit, the meat to pita ratio is pretty ridiculous in a good way, and all its components just work, down to the stinky fresh onions. Yes, my 1 o'clock meeting just got funky. Ooh, and the falafel remind me of the ones I used to get in Berkeley on an almost daily basis. Which is to say, it's awesome possum. So yeah, this is the perfect lunch spot.

In town on business- and wanted to give this place a second chance. Sorry I did. Ordered the Kabob combo, and had to return it after trying the first piece of lamb meat. The meat was barely cooked- very pink inside. Tried to cut another to see if it was as undercooked- and knife couldn't even make a dent as meat was so soft due to being nearly raw. Bonus was that no one really cared at the counter when I asked for a refund.

Working downtown means you are stuck with what is close to you. This place not only offers convinience, the food is absolutely great. The gyros are tender, yummy, flavorful and have all the right spices. Their fries are quite yummy too, sometimes I just get that I gotta get me some french fries fix, I stop by here. The staff is nice and friendly. There is abundance of ketchup and napkins. If you avoid the lunch rush, you can score a nice table and really enjoy your meal. The only negative thing about this place- are the prices, its quite expensive. Ive been sticking with simple gyros simply because I am not sure if I want to spend $10-12 for lunch on something I am not so sure about..

Like everyplace downtown, they seem really crowded at lunchtime, but their service was incredibly fast. So, as long as you can find a seat, it's worth the short wait in line. Their beef & lamb gyro is delicious--the meat is cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the veggies & cucumber sauce compliment it nicely without overpowering the flavor. One of my favorite dishes at Mediterranean places is taboulie, and although they offer it, it isn't listed on their menu as an option to order in a combo with a gyro (as fries, salad or basmati rice are), but they were able to fill my special request so I didn't have to pay an additional $5 to try it out. Their taboulie was really fresh tasting (as it should be) with nice chunks of cucumbers & tomatoes, just the right amount of diced onions and a generous amount of parsley. I highly recommend it. **You can find coupons on their website for a free dessert or 10% off your entire order.

I stumbled upon this place years ago when I first moved to the twin cities and as time passed I slowly forgot about it. Luckily for me as faith would have it, I found it once more. I started working downtown at City Center and to my surprise as I came out of the office building during lunchtime, there it was staring me in the eye. Needless to say I was very happy to have found this amazing place once again. It's my go to lunch spot whenever I'm in the office. I have yet to try anything that is bad on their menu. They have something for everyone so don't be shy of paying this place a visit. There is lamb, beef, chicken and even veggie options. I usually tend to get a chicken gyro with rice (you can also get it with fries - they double fry them). Oh and don't forget the hot sauce that they make in house, gives the meal the extra kick it needs (definitely not hot for me but it gives it a little extra flavor). There is plenty of seating indoors as well as some seating outside of the place. Word of advice try to avoid the lunchtime rush, because the line gets long and the seating quickly disappears. The place is clean and inviting with a friendly staff. My one suggestion for the owners would be to figure out a new ordering process, especially for the high traffic time. The lines stretch out to the front of the door and once you place your order you try to find a spot to stand in while you wait for your food, which becomes a tricky thing when it's the lunchtime rush. Other than that minor issue, this place is a winner in my book. I will definitely be having more gyros from this place as I continue to work downtown.

Greek Grill is one of the better skyway options for lunch and I think it is the best in City Center. It's a pretty standard set up: order at the counter, pay, and wait for your number to be called. I've had quite a few things here, but my favorites include: - The veggie combo, which includes Greek salad, spanakopita, dolmas and falafel. The portions are pretty big; I could eat it all, but that would be pushing it. - Chicken kabob plate (with choice of salad or rice). If you order this, it sometimes takes a little longer to get your food, but it's worth it. - Santorini Chicken is a special that is sometimes available and is a large Greek salad with seasoned chicken breast on top. Delish! I would skip the fries though here...not worth it.

I enjoy the food here. The staff keep moving and while sometimes the wait is a bit long (depending on what you order and the number of customers) you can see them preparing your food so you know it's fresh. The price is right for the downtown location. For choices in the skyway, it ranks in my top 10 for a take out lunch. The dressing on the greek salad is delicious and the portion for a side salad is generous. Gyros are standard, nothing in particular stands out about them but they are good. The basamati rice is always perfect. A lamb kabob will take a while to cook but if you've got the time to wait (10 minutes?) it is delicious. Seating is a little crowded - don't try to have a private conversation. But, privacy isn't what you should be looking for in the skyway anyway.

Gyro combo... yummm... This was my first stop when I arrived in downtown Minneapolis from the airport. I was S-T-A-R-V-I-N-G! So I happily agreed to go to a Greek eatery and indulge my preference for gyros. Growing up in a Greek neighborhood in NYC has made me very particular in what I like. Specifically the tzaziki. Much to my delight, this place rocks the sauce! The meat was tender and juicy, the pita fresh and fluffy as well as the onions and tomatoes. A nice Greek salad on the side was generous in size and fresh and tasty. If I'm ever in MSP again, I will definitely make an effort to stop by and taste something else on the menu.
